I did the hard thing, the thing everyone says you can’t do. I went home.
Home. It was the only place I’d ever really been happy, even though the happiest I’d ever been was with him.
He was the only one I wanted for the rest of my life.
Our life could have been beautiful, but he broke us. He broke me when he slid his ring off my finger.
And now I have to move on. I have to move forward. With Matthias. The man who waited 17 years for me. The one who never stopped loving me…
Maybe all the months of pain, the turmoil that threatens to drown me, all of it will be worth it — for Mats. For us to finally get our chance to see if we were always meant to be.
This is just a combined review of the first and 2nd book. So this is full on spoiler SPOILER.
I abhor love triangles when it’s two women fighting over a man cuz ewww dafuq. But when it’s the opposite, 2 men fighting over a woman? Oh I eat it up! No matter how insufferable and annoying the FMC is, a girl gotta live, ya know? 😌
Britain (our FMC, ass name but whatevs) went back to her hometown after her divorce with her cheating husband. She hates her small town because therein lived the boy who callously broke her heart 17yrs ago. She met zaddy Liam (MMC#1) who is 14yrs older than her (yum! 🫣). They performed the bow-wow-wow pumping dance of love and sex. Now, Liam is a secret breeder, okay I’m partly kidding. But he’s so in love and obsessed with Brit that he wants her to be pregnant so that they’ll stay forever and ever but he wouldn’t do that without Brit’s commitment and permission. Since Britain already has 2 teenage daughters with her ex-husband, she was hesitant at first but gave in because she loves and believes Liam is the love of her life.
The angst comes in the form of MMC#2 which is Matt. Matt is Liam’s best friend, business partner, and also the boy who broke Brit’s heart 17yrs ago. Now this man still can’t move on from Britain after many years to the point where he waited for her and tracked her down after she bolted out of their small town when he broke up with her. He knows Brit was married and has kids but still he waited for her to come back.
Soo we have the unfailingly understanding, silver-foxed zaddy Liam and boy-next-door sometimes asshole Matt, pining for our ocassionally stupid, always horny-you-wanna-smack-her-tits Britain.
Book 1 ends after Liam publicly dumped Britain during their engagement party 😭 but don’t fret! He has a stupid but noble reasons for doing so. He found out that Brit still hasn’t moved on from Matt and that’s why her marriage with her ex-husband failed. He wanted to give Brit the space to figure it out with Matt. He assumed and didn’t talked it out with her so I’m a bit frustrated with him there. He zoomed out of her life, changed his number; didn’t answer her calls and texts and in turn he didn’t find out that she was pregnant until too late. As in too late since our girl, Brit started seeing and eventually doing the tango with Matt (lucky girl 🌚).
Book 2 is drama drama drama but for me it was obvious from the prologue on who she will pick. And yep, it’s Liam! I have no qualms, I’m glad it was him. He’s the perfect choice.

One long miscommunication trope and it made me stabby. It’s also full of grown ass adult men who act like petulant children. Oh and Britain who is beyond emotionally unstable and at various points endangers her life and that of her unborn child. She also spends a big majority of the book crying and waffling back and forth about which man to choose- guess what… neither of them is that great frankly. Liam left, turned is phone off and was just gonna walk away for 4 months and hope Britain got his letter explaining all his “reasons.” Matt is a verbally abusive, manipulative scumbag who convinced his brothers NOT to tell Liam Britain was pregnant. WTF dude WTF. And Britain… I really disliked her in this. She’s completely unable to make a decision and stick to it. She’s mentally unwell and everyone around her seems to not really notice. She’s introducing men into her daughter’s lives then changing her mind from day to day. It’s just a lot and like I said in the review for the first book, she’s exhausting to read. I just wanted to scream MAKE A FUCKING DECISION AND STICK TO IT! Matt is nasty to her and she’s like oh I don’t like that and then decides to sleep with him bc she’s horny. I just can’t. Make it make sense! Liam comes back and pretty much steamrolls his way back into her life. The best part of the book was Matt getting punched in the face.

4⭐️I absolutely LOVE these characters and this world and I don’t want to leave. I cannot wait to see all that’s to come from EL Stevens. This is a 5⭐️ series for me with 5⭐️ spice. She has a way with words that totally immerses you and you’re able to perfectly visualize everything. Obsessed!
Ok first, if you haven’t read Georgia and Constantine (the first two books in this series), consider this your sign to do so immediately. If you haven’t read my review for Georgia, you definitely need to do that too. Now go away because SPOILERS are about to be spoiling some serious shit up in here haha. Come on now, I gave you guys the first review spoiler free, you can only expect so much from me lol. So now go away if you haven’t read these! You need to go in blind! Trust me! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Ummm LIAM!!! My man! And seriously from the bottom of my heart, fuck you, Matt lol. Phew. That felt good to get out hahahaha. Oh and FUCK YOU, Gina!! Good lord almighty do I hate that woman.
Ok, I’m good now lol. What a fucking ride that was. The drama, the angst, the miscommunication, did I mention the drama?? Chef’s kiss! I ate this shit up. Fucking devoured. Again if I was rating off of nothing but vibes this would easily be a five star for me. Between the characters and their development, the plot twists and the actual writing itself, I’m once again blown away by Elizabeth’s talent. The only reasons I’m taking this down to a four instead of a five are because there are still a couple little things that need some work and while it didn’t take away from my reading experience in a huge way, they were noticeable. The only other issue was the last little bit of drama with Britain and Gina - thank fuck Liam handled that with the grace and patience that he did, cuz I had about had it with Brit at this point lol. I mean I get it, you’re hormonal and you don’t trust him yet, but sweetheart, get your ever lovin’ shit together and have a conversation with the man lol. And even though I had every reason to be beyond annoyed with her, I still didn’t hate her because that shit is real life. It’s so fucking real. I loved it even when I was annoyed with it lol.
So yea, I’m obsessed. Liam is everything. The way that my heart broke for him. Gaaaawd. That scene in the closet when he asks to feel her stomach for the first time and says, “Hi, baby. I’m your dad, and I can’t wait to meet you.” Fucking DONE. Instant tears. Literally everything about him was perfection. No notes. Oh and the beginning of the book when we find out that he actually met Brit first!! The vice that my heart was in. Hurt so good club, I get it now lol.
What else…shit there’s so much I could go on and on about… Constantine and the boxes and the photos and the cards and how we find out what he and Georgia had really been like. Heartbreaking but so fucking good. The way that Matt is shown to be the villain and how that all unravels, BRILLIANT. Absolutely brilliant. The way that I was taken from feeling so heartbroken for him to wanting to off his ass was impressive lol. Seriously, the development of every single character in this was next level. Even down to Caroline and how she’s catching feelings for James…is there a story brewing there Beth???
Now Alex and Jess get their own paragraph because I’m assuming that’s where this series is going to go? Again, I’m going in blind and if one of you ruins this for me I will rage lol. But that’s my prediction, Alex and Jess and she’s the wife at the end that we don’t actually get to meet yet. I might cry if I’m wrong lol. The way that we’re getting breadcrumbs about their stories was so good. There’s one scene in particular when Alex is over at Liam’s and he tells him to use either vinegar or charcoal to get the smell of Britain’s perfume out of the house and I nearly had an episode over that, cuz obviously he had to do the same thing when his wife died and that’s how he knows. Right?! Don’t actually tell me, but I have a feeling that’s gunna hurt like a MF when it comes back around. Also, Jess is my girl. I fucking ADORE both of these characters already and I’m simultaneously excited and terrified for what comes next lol.
Okay, I could very easily keep going but I’m gunna stop for my own sanity lol. I do have things I need to get done today haha. But to everyone who’s up in my DM’s about this, I love every single one of you for reliving this with me! This is what I love about booksta!
Xo - J
P.S. And Beth, if you read this, I am AMAZED at your talent and I’m so excited to see how far you go as an author! I see amazing things in your future! Well fucking done!

my bestie Christina said it better but this was like a train wreck you couldn’t look away from. The drama was so outrageous that you had to keep going.
These middle aged adults acted like they were children & I could not take it. The number of times I wanted to pull my hair out and chuck my kindle at the wall was incredible. To be honest I lost sight of the plot with all of the drama happening and I was overwhelmed with absurd conflicts and lack of communication that kept happening even at 90%. But again, I could not put it down.
Sandy was a freaking star in these books. She was so sweet and supportive. I really enjoyed the love she brought to their little family.
Whew this book was a WILD ride. Binged it in one sitting & it only left me wanting more of this little world E.L. Stevens has created.
Again, if you don’t love angst & drama, this is not the series for you.. but me? Eat that ishhh up. Everything about this series between the plot twists, spice, romance… it’s just phenomenal.
Tropes: - Small Town - Single Mom - Second Chance - Age Gap (around 15 yrs) - Love Triangle - Ex’s Best Friend - Forbidden - Daddy K!nk - Breeding K!nk
Ok, this book hurt. I’m not sure how to describe it, but I’ve never read a book with almost all characters devoid of any personality. I believe only Matt, Damian, and Jess were the only ones who had any spark. The rest (especially Britain and Liam) were just plain dumb, no personality whatsoever. It was like they were these brainless creatures who spoke and acted on first instinct, without any second thought. And yes, this book was as frustrating as the first one, but with a bit more cringe and spice scenes. Lots of spice scenes.
MAJOR SPOILER ALERT: she remains with Liam, yes. After he persuaded her to have unprotected sex after a few weeks, getting her pregnant, and after dumping her on their engagement day (all these happened only in the first book), we learn now in this second book that he finally finds out she’s pregnant after about 3 months or so and he returns to her. Apparently he left her because he wanted to see if she goes back cu Matt. Not sure on his thought process here, but in a way he was right because of course she did. But then he finds out she had sex with Matt and he calls her a whore and some other similar ‘nice’ adjectives. All this when she was upset because she caught him with his naked free willy and another naked girl in his house. She faints again and he again realises how much he loves her on the way to the hospital. I believe it took her only a day or so to have sex with him and after about 3 days they are already in an official relationship again.
So yeah… this was not the book for me. The writing style was better in the first book.

AMAZING 🤩 I am so glad I didn’t have to wait too long for part two of this series. After Georgia I was both excited for this arc. The cliff hanger in book 1 had me angry and excited. Britain started this book heartbroken and shattered and her pain was so real. Liam had his come to Jesus moment, however too late. I am so mad at him. If you dislike Matt as much as I do let’s be friends. This book tied up all loose ends and left me extremely satisfied. The ending wow I would have never expected that. I am still in shock, there is no coming back from that betrayal. The emotions I felt in this book were so worth it. I know a book is good when I immediately add it to my wishlist because a physical copy in my hands will make my life complete.
This was another re-read for me, and again, was even better the second time around. I watched Beth’s live on IG shortly before starting this one and her little tidbits about the characters gave me a slightly different perspective than the last time I read it. Resulting in me ugly crying in public. 🤣
ANYWAYS. If you look up “man groveling” in the dictionary, this book will come up. Well, at least it should. Because this, my friends, is TOP TIER grovel material.
I always love the Spearhead Lake world that she’s built, it’s such a great vibe and I wish it was real, because I’d move there.
The character development continues to be solid, and I love the prep work that she does for her next books with her side characters. It’s subtle, and you wouldn’t know it’s there if you haven’t read the next book, but it’s great! If the first book in the series left you with questions, many of them are answered in this one, or in June.
Also, the closet scene in this book.. 🥵 It will forever live rent free in my head. IYKYK.
If you’ve followed my reviews on any platform, you already know this is a 5 star read for me and I’ll recommend it until I’m blue in the face. So save me and just read this series, ok? 🫶
What to expect: ☀️ Small town ☀️ Single mom ☀️ Second chance ☀️ Age gap ☀️ Love triangle ☀️ Ex’s best friend ☀️ MCs over 30
Wow! Absolutely Incredible!!! E.L. Stevens has a fan in me. Her stories are phenomenal. Her writing is soooo amazing, detailed and edge of your seat captivating!
I wasn’t sure how this book was going to go, who was going to end up with who (I’m 100% team Liam) if I would be happy with the ending and if Britain would even pick a partner. I absolutely loved how E.L. Stevens wrote this book. The twists and turns had me freaking out!!! At one point, I put the book down shaking my head, thinking noooo don’t go that way please. But I was shocked and I had soooo much faith it would end up perfectly and let me tell you, it sooo did!!!
I loveddddd the found family, for both the fmc and the mmc. The giant family was my favorite part of this book. Everyone loving and supporting each other was soooo special.
I can’t wait to read sooooo much more by E.L. Stevens. I love how unpredictable she is, how fun her characters are, how spicy her stories played out and this amazing duet! I am excited to see what she comes up with next!!!
✨Can I just be a side character in this book and watch the absolute DRAMA unfold before my eyes?!😩
✨Constantine picks back up where Georgia left off on that crazy cliffhanger! AMAZING is what this book is. I was on edge the whole time with how this story was going to go. Britain is stuck in love triangle with two men from her past, Matthias and Liam, who happen to be best friends and also run a company together. In this book we get to see exactly how Britain met both men on the same day 17 years ago. Y’all the twist and turns had me flipping the f out!! I was in here biting my nails. At one point my husband looked over and was like “are you ok” 😂 Britain thinking she belongs with one man only to have doubts and starts wondering if she in fact belongs with the other one!
✨I was BEYOND happy she chose who she chose. I was on his team from book 1!!! And if she picked wrong, I swear I was going to be like that Bradley Cooper meme when he throws the book out the window! (Jk) How this book was written.. you get so into it. I LOVE books like this. When I don’t want to do anything else, I’m reading at the dinner table, I’m up until 2 am! Ugh! Britain and her best friend Jess are bf goals! Like can I have a best friend that just flys across the country to be there for me? And Britain’s brother Alex, I loved that man. The absolute protector 😍 I can’t wait for his story with Jess. This is another book that’s one of my favorite reads of 2024! @e.l.stevens please don’t stop writing books!
P.s. thank you for that closet scene 🫠
Read if you like: Age gap Small town Second chance Love triangle Angsy Spicy🔥 DRAMA🤌🏾
Britain, girl. Bffr. I tried to be on your side but...
When the guy with the fewest red flags 🚩 is the one who cheated on the FMC (multiple times!) and then left her for his baby assistant…you already know we’re in mess territory. 😅
This book was jam packed full of drama. It’s absolutely delicious. I was devouring every petty catfight like it was a hot fudge sundae. Do I hate EVERY character with the fire of a thousand suns? Yes. Did I eat it all up anyway? Also yes.
We’re finally starting to dig deeper into each character, and the storyline is actually taking shape. BUT…it wouldn’t be a true drama if there weren’t moments that had me ready to throw the book across the room. 😑
Cheat on the FMC? Fine. 🙄 Be a walking midlife crisis? Whatever. But drunk driving at 50? Embarrassing. 🤢 and Britain? Reckless driving while carrying a whole human? You just drove straight out of my sympathy. 👋🏼
Low key wish this was a why choose - that way Matt and Liam could sword fight 🍆 in the bedroom instead of punching mirrors like little MAGA boys scared of the color pink.
Onto book 3! Word on the street is it’s even more theatrical. 😉
I gasped when I saw the arc for this in my email 🥹 I’ve been recommending Georgia to my book friends since I finished and now to continue Britains story…I felt so honored and anxious. Y’all know how I went through a rollercoaster of emotions with the ending of Georgia. 😏
I don’t want to give anything away but I can’t wait for everyone to read this! I felt closure in my lil ‘ol bookie heart with Britains ending 🥹 The intertwining of characters story development was so good in this and while I’m left AGAIN wanting more (with a couple of the other characters!) I’ll let Britain and …someone else take a break 😉
When I got the arc for Constantine, I realized I needed to read the first book in the series to make a review. This is book 2 in the Spearhead Lake series and I advise you to read the first one to not miss out on important things.
Short version? I loved it. The plot, the feelings, the spice - ALL GOOD!
The story starts up back when Britain was 18 and how she met both Liam and Matthias, which for me gave me some answers already about who I was rooting for! Britain is heartbroken over the way Liam left things and she is working on healing herself. It’s a beautiful story of love, sacrifice, family and it was a good way to start the year! I absolutely recommend this series🤩🔥

Although the first book is thoroughly entertaining, I was still a little perplexed at wtf was going on. Thankfully Steven’s wraps allll of this up in this installment and it once again had me completely enthralled. I stayed up all night reading this and I have no regrets. The angst and drama in this book had me foaming at the mouth. This book felt like a damn ping pong match. The love triangle had my heart RACING. My only complaint is that the characters didn’t come off as their age (30’s 40’s) Luckily it didn’t take away from the plot, but I was still put off at times with the immaturity. Oh and the spice? Spectacular give me 14 of them.
5/5⭐️ 3.5/5🌶️ This book was perfection. The drama, the love triangle, the angst, the family love. I felt all of the feels and the end had me in tears. Both happy and sad. I cannot wait for Jess’s book!
E.L Stevens has such a knack for storytelling. She captures you with her characters and the picture she paints. I couldn’t get enough of these books and I’m actually really bummed I’ve read them because I want to experience them for the first time again. LOVED THEM!
2🌶️ 2😂 2😢 the amount of drama in this series is wild! Loved the world, the mmc, and the side characters sm but the fmc annoyed me with the constant insecurity and lack of communication. 50% of the drama could’ve been avoided if she just would have had a convo instead of spiraling.
“We don’t mourn, we celebrate. The love that was, the love we found, and all the love we still have left to give.”
I don’t even know what to say… again, I loved this book! Was the perfect ending to Britains story! I read the book in one day, it had me in a literal chokehold ✨
I didn’t want to put it down, didn’t want it to end! I just want more of this little world that is Spearhead Lake and the characters that come with it 🖤
This book !!!!! Emotional roller coaster, listen I knew I trusted my gut when I picked the bad man & the good man!! MESSSYYY AND TOXIC AND SPICY AND SWEET. Idk how else to describe it but I’m in love obsessed —— LIAM MY SILVER FOX DADDY ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 I’m happy you made a comeback I was rooting for you!

Quick thoughts: WHAT A WILD RIDE. I feel healed after being broken in Georgia. If you are not here for angst and drama, this series is not for you but I could literally not get enough. Couldn’t put it down and loved the journey.
I never take time to write a review but good lord this book. I ATE THIS UP! Book one had me biting my nails and pacing the floor, and this book picked up all the broken pieces of my heart and put it back together 😭🖤🖤🖤
Book two was even more drama and mess than book one! The epilogue for Matthias had be shock, didn’t see that coming at all, now I don’t feel bad about disliking him
