Life can be cruel. I never thought I would see him again. He was the same person who made me feel like an ugly duckling. Now he’s here. Topaz, aka the ugly duckling. Shae Anson is a billionaire workaholic, playboy, and sworn enemy of love, or so he thought. A working holiday brought more into his life than he expected, making him confront his past to find out if he could have a future. Topaz and Shae are on a collision course. Sparks will fly, and there are fires to put out. With accidents turning up around them, they have more to worry about than if they would find their Happy Ever After. Topaz and Shae’s story is the last book in a three-part series entitled Colored Gems. This is a billionaire enemies to lovers inspirational romance with its own HEA. Full of twists and turns, it’s sure to keep you flipping those pages. Each book is a standalone and best read in order. The author intertwines a little spice with faith. These are not your typical inspirational romance novels. Come with an open mind and get a sweet story.
Shae Anson by N R Emerald occupies the same universe as her other novels in the Colored Gems series but can be read as a standalone. If feasible, it is of course preferable to read the stories in order, but the narrative and storytelling is so amazing and concise that reading out of sequence does not distract from the reader’s enjoyment or understanding! The first book I read by this author was Zane Ambrose and while it remains a favorite; each subsequent story was excellent in their own right. Shae has traveled to Etim in the Mediterranean to examine the site of a future resort. He is a hard working and hard living playboy; however, he has recently become jaded with his meaningless romantic escapades and decided to examine his life’s choices. On Etim he encounters two markedly different women, Irina, his ideal and the woman who “got away” and Topaz who appears to have some hidden animosity towards him. Ms. Emerald imbues Topaz with passion, zeal, and a dry humor that zings. Shae is uncertain how to take the unimpressed Topaz; she neither fawns over his wealth nor tries to gain his attention. As the pair works together to make the resort a reality, she realizes that her perception of Shae is skewed, and he grasps that he has found a precious gift. But danger lurks! The story takes some truly unexpected twists that leaves readers guessing almost to the end. I absolutely enjoyed this exciting mixture of faith, passion, and intrigue. We see both emotional and spiritual growth from both main characters, and it was wonderful to catch up with previous characters from other books!.
