Edit: Original review is from March 2024 - I’ve decided to come back and leave a more constructive review, I’m still upset but I’d rather no one else accidentally read something they didn’t want to because of misleading/inaccurate CW’s

My biggest issue is the sexualizing of rape, the author does it multiple times (at least 3 separate instances that I can remember) and it was very uncomfortable for me each time. What I mean by this is describing someone being gang raped (her tragic backstory, not something that happened on the page) as “filling every hole she had” or something along those lines, and multiple instances of rape right at the very end are very detailed and I feel like the author got off on describing the act by how it was written.
Edit to add: The content warnings at the beginning DO NOT go into enough depth considering the actual fkn content of the book. Word for word here they are:

The depth and internal struggles of the characters really fell flat for me. The writing wasn’t convincing and - to put this lightly - I knew from the first page that I wasn’t going to like this book at all.
The characters speaking to each other is very oddly written and any trauma that occurred only coincidentally impacts them.
Edit to add this one piece: there’s casual human trafficking that is never fkn mentioned again after they all like… die or something? I can’t remember now since it’s been too long but wtf is up with that? Wasn’t mentioned in the trigger warnings or anything. Back to the rest of my review
I’m trying not to be harsh when I say this, but in order to give an accurate review I don’t know how else to phrase it, the book reads as if a mature 5th grader wrote it. If you’re fine with that and don’t mind these characters having the same maturity level as such, then this book would be great for you. The pace is quick, it’s easy to keep turning the page (not positively in my case), there’s a strong curvy FMC - by all accounts every ingredient that put this book together makes sense and helps the plot flow.
If you can get past all that, 100% go ahead, I’m not here to yuck anyone’s yum. I just wish I had an honest reviewer to tell me why they didn’t like this book so I’m being that reviewer for others.

This reads like a crappy Wattpad novel I would’ve read when I was 11 and loved - this is not a compliment I had very bad taste. The grammar was all over the place, everything was so repetitive. “Earpiece in my ear”???? Yeah, that’s very much implied by it BEING AN EARPIECE. Okay I’m done, don’t read this unless you’re fine with everyone being emotionally immature and crying all the time for apparently no reason?
It also doesn’t feel safe to leave a review either because the author comments on bad reviews letting the person know she’s read them. IMHO Goodreads is for readers not authors, feeling uncomfortable leaving a review is something I’ve never experienced before.

Pinky promise is delicious and spicy keeping you on the edge of your seat wanting more. I am so thankful this is just book one and can’t wait to dive into book two. I will hold this series close and probably reread it over and over. If you are looking for something spicy with an amazing storyline this is a series for you

Thank goodness I got this book for free. It feels like a wattapad story by an amateur. Characters do things that doesn't make sense. The FMC is catty, annoying, immature and feels like what a teenager thinks a grown woman will behave. The MMC feels like a cardboard cutout of what a person thinks a mobster will act like. "Violence" and "business decisions" are thrown out in nonsensical ways. Character interactions and ethnicities are thrown together with no sense or care.

Great plot, sizzling chemistry, steamy scenes, and I love the characters. Adria is so compassionate and caring, but also has this vulnerability about her, and Joseph swoops right in and gives her that confidence boost a d is so protective of her.
Lots of violence and drama with mafia business, a jealous lover, and betrayals.
Did not expect the dark ending, need the next book asap!

Amazing Start to this Mafia Series!!!
I’m always a sucker for a new mafia series and am so glad I grabbed this book! It sucked me in immediately and hasn’t let me go. Adria and Joseph are the perfect coupling and their chemistry is off the charts. This book has twists, turns and darkness that I just lappedit all up like a starving person! If you love dark mafia reads, this is for you!

First, I'm going to say, read the trigger warnings and understand them. Second, if you're ready for them, read on my friend and enjoy the heck out of the book! This is a fabulous mafia storyline that will leave you wanting and wanting and wanting! I love the curvy FMC and the deep internal struggles of the characters in the book. This is the first book I've read by the author and let me tell you, by the end (which by the way was a cliffy!) I was ready and grabbing book 2!

This book was a fantastic first book to a series mafia romance series. Introducing you to the characters and building the organized criminal world. Adria is relatable, showing her insecurities and mannerisms from a past abusive relationship. Throw in a hot Dom of the mafia, stubborn male choices, criminal events, enemies, and passionate scenes, and you have a great story. I even enjoyed the side characters. Ending on a cliffhanger, I am ready to read the second book.

What the ever loving heck!! How dare you leave us in such suspense with that cliffhanger?!!!!
I was way too invested in the story from the first word until the very last moment that left me screaming - literally - I screamed and scared my husband because I had been sitting so quietly reading this in one shot for so long he forgot I was in the room.
I seriously needed some time to let it all sink in. At first I really didn’t know if I liked Joseph or not. At times I hated him and other times I adored him. He would do things that I thought were unnecessary and unforgivable and he would find a way to redeem himself.
Adria is a strong woman who also has her insecurities and doubts about her worth. She is a bigger woman and has dealt with the crappy things people say and judge her for because of her size and that makes her wary of Joseph’s attention on her.
The last part of this book tore me apart and I broke for Adria and what she was going through and I am so grateful that I don’t have to wait for the next book to find out what happens and if Joseph can put the pieces together and help Adria with the trauma she has been forced to endure.
This is a very dark romance that has some very serious issues that may be difficult for some readers, so please read the TW before reading.
Plenty of hot, steamy times and banter between the couple that draw you in.

This book absolutely consumed me! I was instantly hooked! Not only did i fall in love with the characters, but the story line too! Omg this book is so amazing. Has great love and spice. It keeps u wanting more and keeping u on ur toes. I couldn't put it down. It leaves a cliffhanger. Love the character building. They couldn't stay apart even tho they tried. They want each other so bad. Can't wait to read book #2.

This author was brand new to me and I have to say I loved this book. Joseph is the head of the Italian mafia and Adria is a Doctor at the local hospital when one fateful night their paths cross and nothing will be the same again. Adria is a great FMC and while she has her insecurities she is a strong character who won’t let Joseph walk all over her despite who he is. Then you have Joseph who is used to people doing as he says without question and seeing him learn to accept that Adria is not going to be one of those people is great. You just can’t help but root for their relationship and the spicy scenes are great, they are part of the story and add to it rather than just being there for the sake of it. The cliffhanger at the end of book 1 is a shocker and I can’t wait to read book 2!

I absolutely fell in love with this book! I was hooked by the first chapter. I couldn't stop reading this book!!! Pinky Promise is the first book in the series and let me tell you that this book did not disappoint me. I really liked the characters, story, all the hotness that was happening lol. Every chapter I read left me begging for more. I will be recommending this to all my dark romance book loving friends!

This is a new author I decided to try. I've recently been getting into more Mafia romances, and this book did not disappoint. It follows the love story between a Don and a new doctor; the challenges they face as they attempt to keep their relationship. Of course, with being a Mafia boss, there are added risks that come with the territory. Of course, like any dark romance, this book does have trigger warnings. This book is a bit more fast-paced compared to the world building and character development books that I'm used to. But I enjoy the fact that it focuses mainly on Joseph and Adria and their love story.

This is a new author for me, but she had me at "a mafia romance". I'm in my mafia era.
I will say that there is a lot of focus on the mafia and how they work which I love because it isn't just all spice.
I do feel there was a bit of insta-love happening on the MMC part (no hate but some don't like that) and I am a fan of the FMC because she is growing as a person from past traumas.
While MMC is trying to show FMC love and teach her positive body image *swoon*, she is also teaching him how to be more vulnerable.
This book leaves you on a massive cliffhanger but it was such a fast read and really immerses you into the story that you will dive head first into the 2nd book!
Check out this series if you havent yet!

First, I just want to say I LOVE that the trigger warning specifies where it is in the book without giving anything away. I think that is extremely considerate of what people may have faced in their life and amazing to see.
Now on to the good stuff…
I read Pinky Promise within one night. Not because it’s short, but because I absolutely couldn’t put it down!! I saw a lot of my own insecurities in the MFC, and that made the story so much better to be. It’s not something I see all the often in any branch of the romance genre. I cannot wait to go onto the next book, probably won’t sleep tonight to read it!!!

We love a good Mafia romance 🥴 Joseph the mob boss and Adriana the medical personal in training. This story was such a good one . It does end in a cliff hanger, which had me anticipating the next book😅 but the story kept me entertained for sure. Reading about their love story blossoming , and the SPICE!! Wheeeew. 🥴😂 this is a must read for sure!

I usually have a hard time getting into a new series but found myself pretty quickly hooked on Pinky Promise. I really loved the story and immediately jumped into the next book to find out what happened next.

They both knew their story was too good to be true - they tried to stay apart … but the heart wants what it wants and no one and nothing will stand in the way. Who cares that Joseph is a big bad mafia guy .. his sights are set very firmly on a green eyed vixen.
I knew this was going to finish on a cliff hanger, but couldn’t stop myself from being surprised … now straight onto Book 2.

For those worried about depth—Adria isn’t just a placeholder heroine; she’s layered, struggling with trauma from her past, and watching her confidence grow throughout the book was everything.
And Joseph? Absolute Mafia book boyfriend goals. Possessive, protective, but never cruel.

This was the first time, I read her book. Man, this book was Awesome, I definitely, couldn't put it down. I was HOOKED. I must say, I'm so glad , I got this book, because, I pass it up 3 times, before I decided, to read it. This book was Calling to me. Please read, the Triggers warning. My daughter had to take my table away, from me , to go to sleep. It was that Awesome. 💓 Adria and Joseph. This book will Definitely, pull you in, it will keep you wanting MORE. This book will keep you on the edge of your seats, wanting More. also Spicy, dark mafia Romance, past traumas, intense, curvy FMC , and a lot more. This book does end in a cliffhanger, but don't worry , the book is out now. a must Read Series.

The overall story was good.
However, I would've loved to see more on page emotional development between Adria and Joseph that didn't involve getting physical. We get told that they have certain conversations about their past, but I felt that Adria was acting to naive about dating a Don. And I felt that Joseph was lacking when it came to her safety throughout the story. It ended on a cliffhanger that didn't really surprise me - just Joseph. I am curious to see how he's going to resolve the situation in the next book!

This is was not a usual read for me but I am so happy I took the plunge. Joseph and Adria and the cutest couple. His dominance her insecurities, I definitely did not expect this story to bloom the way it did. The cliffhanger just left me wanting more and I honestly can't wait.
Everything isn't for everyone but I will say this author has gained a fan.
