Dannika Dark is an autobuy for me, particularly in audio format. The Chosen is the third audiobook in the Black Arrowhead series. Like most urban fantasy, I recommend you listen to The Vow and The Alpha before beginning The Chosen. This book contains spoilers for the previous books and they, in turn, set up for events in The Chosen.

Robyn, a human who grew up in a pack, is traveling across country with her watchdog looking for a pack to call home. They are tired, hungry, and almost broke when they stumble upon a bus of shifters heading towards a pack with an open call for packmates. We meet detective, Montana, who is traveling with the group, and he instinctively offers his protection.

When they arrive on the lands, they see a rundown barn and an unfinished house. But Tak, the Alpha and packmaster, gives them all a place around the campfire and a chance to prove their worth. Until he decides each will sleep in tents and work to rebuild the house and barns.

I loved the tale that unfolds from the unique personalities that emerged to the chemistry between Robyn & Montana. The pack reminded me of characters from Keystone and that made me giddy as I quickly felt at home around the campfire. The strangers work together, forming bonds, and working to earn a place to call home. I love Tak as a Packmaster. It was wonderful seeing the previous couples and getting updates.

Dark weaves in some suspense as Robyn is harboring secrets, and it brings danger to their group. The story was addictive, and I enjoyed seeing characters from the first two books and connecting with new ones. These shifters are searching for a home, and each has their own story. I cannot wait to learn more about each of them.

The romance was slow-building with sizzling chemistry. Dark wove in tenderness, character growth and sweet moments before turning up the heat.

Nicole Poole narrates and does a fantastic job bringing Dark’s characters and series to life. She provides unique voices for everyone and enhances my enjoyment of the series. Dark’s series work wonderfully in audio format and the narration has only enhanced the characters and storylines.

Dark’s books are all set in the same universe. I’ve devoured them all! While I started with the Seven series, I recommend listening to the Mageri series before the Crossbreed series. You could begin with the Black Arrowhead series.

Fans of urban fantasy, shifters and romantic suspense will want to grab this series.

♡ Get ready for me to fangirl over this book ♡

OMG! This was such a good book! I loved everything about it! The group that the author is setting up is fantastic. It lowkey feels like the Keystone group. I miss them so this'll be a great way to fill that void in a little bit.

The hero and the heroine have great chemistry throughout the book. I loved their banter and how protective they were of each other. They make a great team and I'm looking forward to seeing them in future books in this series!

Story 5+ stars. Narration 5 stars. This was the best of this series so far. I honestly didn’t want it to end. This was the third in this series and the author pulled no punches with her amazing writing ability of paranormal romance. I was pulled into the story immediately and enjoyed myself immensely. And it wasn’t just romance as it had its share of suspense and even violence. The two main characters were new to the series as part of a group that are more or less auditioning for a place in a new wolf pack. The mfc had it really hard because she was human and it’s pretty unheard of to make a human a pack mate. But she’s got a secret which could change everything for her. She also comes with some danger surrounding her and a watch dog wolf that follows her everywhere. The mmc was just a really great guy, but then most shifters carry some baggage since they live so long and of course he had some. The other thing I really liked was that several of the side characters were characters from previous books even as far back as The Mageri series.

Narration by Nicole Poole was stellar as always. She never fails to amaze me with all her different voices, even the men’s voices. All are equally discernible from each other and I always knew who was speaking. Her narration was just the icing on the cake for this wonderful book. Highly recommended to adult readers.

Best one yet

I absolutely loved this book. I was a bit worried when I saw the two main characters were completely new but the blending of characters from the other three book series with the new made everything feel comfortable. The storyline was unique and exciting. I couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the next book in the series!

3.5/5.0

I enjoyed this story, and the main reason, I think, is I love the mageri universe that Ms. Dark has created. Her Crossbread series is still one of my all-time ever UF favorites (and that is saying something considering how many UFs I read!) Along with other series, she is a personal favorite in many ways. This series is set in that same Mageri world, but with a distinctly Native American vibe that is fun and refreshing.

There were a few oddities in this book that crawled up my craw, however. I LOVED Tak in the previous book but in this story, I just couldn’t accept some of his actions. He required the other characters to spend MONTHS working to earn his acceptance and a place in his pack. Seriously folks, Robyn, Montana and others literally and single-handedly built a HUGE mansion for him and his pack-to-be, along with a state of the art barn twice, installed top-notch surveillance and security systems while they slept in tents in the back yard, bathed in the stream and received no pay, with only the hope that at some point he would accept them! And, in the end, if he didn’t, they’ll walk away empty-handed with absolutely nothing to show for months of backbreakingly hard work and effort.

For the first few weeks I understood, he was taking their measure to see if they would work well together. Then, after the first month, he picked a few and left the rest to stress and wonder for weeks on end… while they continued to improve HIS property! That just rubbed me wrong. And the longer it continued the more I disliked him and the entire premise. By the end I was done. I appreciated Robyn and the others determination to prove that they were “worthy” but how awful to go that many months never knowing if you are or not!

I did enjoy Robyn’s personal story and the twists and turns it took. Montana was a great character, as well, although their “romance” was told much more than it was shown. I do think Lucian NEEDS to get his own book! He was a total stand-out in this story!

So overall, I think my love of the world was stronger than my love of this book. I would recommend it to others… just not with the vim and vigor I usually do.

********** Contains Spoilers**********

Another good addition to the Black Arrowhead Series. I though Robyn and Montana were amazing together. Their chemistry was completely off the charts, as well as hot as hell. Robyn really wants a pack but considering she’s human the odds are stacked against her, and she also has a watch dog. She ends up hitching a ride on a bus filled with rogues travelling to Texas to hopefully get a spot in a newly formed pack. Montana, has been through some sh*t. I hope that he eventually finds out what happened to his sister. It was obvious from the moment that Robyn and Montana met that there was something brewing between them which built throughout the book. I really enjoyed seeing all the personalities shine through for each of the new pack members.

They all worked so hard, and even fought for Tak and each other when they essentially still weren’t a pack which goes to show what decent people they are. I definitely think that Tak made the right choices on who to keep and who to cut as some of them were complete and utter a*seholes. It was cool seeing Lucian, Lakota’s uncle from the Mageri Series but wow, he went through a lot during this book. He’s found his people though. I’m really looking forward getting more books from this series, especially from the new pack members Calder included. I wonder if we’ll find out why he’s the way he is. I’m also hoping that Lennon and Hendrix will eventually get their own stories. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

As always, loved the book!
Not as interesting because there's not much story left with the original characters. But also fun to read someting new in this world.

I hope it never ends, need more!

I love that the mates are chosen, I do like a Fated mates book if it's done good. This is so much fun when it's not predestined. Love that we get more about Potentials in this. I want to read more about them.

And I'm curious about what happens next because they have a neighbour that they need to take care of... 👀

I love that I've listened to so many of the books that I can hear their voices 😊

This series in the Majeri universe is different than the others as it follows a pack, not an individual, making it a series of stand-alones. I really have liked all the characters introduced in this pack.

Another grate book from Dannika Dark. We meet completely new FMC and MMC plus more new characters. I haven't connected with Black Arrowhead as much other Magerivers series (obsessed with Mageri and Seven) I still like it and can't wait for the next installment.

By: Dannika Dark
🎧 Audiobook Narrated by: Nicole Poole
Length: 11 hrs and 32 mins
📖 Ebook

I love Nicole Poole's narration. She's in a class of her own.⭐️

Tak, Hope, Lakota, and Mel have settled on new pack lands about an hour outside of Austin. They've placed an advert to try and recruit new packmates from outside of the area.

Robyn is walking in a serious storm with her shifter watchdog. They're offered a lift on a bus to escape the awful weather. This is when she gets to know 'Montana' on a better level. They hit it off. And although Robyn is human, she's very comfortable around breed!

This was a mostly pleasant read, minus the nasty shifters.👎I enjoyed getting to know the new pack lands, packmates, and, seeing how Tak would likely be as an Alpha.😍🐺

A very enjoyable story.⭐️

This book was really good it got a little slow in the middle but I absolutely love montana/james and Robin there's kind of like a criminal like gang activity part of the book and then there's I like their I like the whole setup of you know let's build a pack and let's all work together to make it better and then I'll see if you know whoever works together will be will make it into the pack you know as a you know working together to see who's going to be the best teammates but if you're disabled like myself probably not work out but I still think that's really cool I think a lot of women issues came up in the book and it is true I think if there was non humans like that actually existed there would be this whole women's rights things cuz just look at what human women have had to go through and so it's it's kind of scary you know being in these unsafe situations and you want to leave to get out of it and then you have to go in hiding just to be safe and it's ridiculous and just so you know there's a little bit more to Robin than you might think and I think it's really cool I also love catcher her no I'm not sure if it's a shifter wolf or just a wolf but he really transforms you know as a companion to her I think it's so cute it's so adorable so you definitely have got to read or listen to this book soo happy for sequel/side series to seven series

The Chosen is the most recent book in the Black Arrowhead series and absolutely spell binding! Robyn is strong determined and running for her life. In chance meeting her and her watchdog are picked up by a bus of rouge’s heading to join a new pack. As a human Robyn is overly welcome by the group but the bus driver refuses to throw her off the bus saying the new Aloha will decide if she stays or goes. But Robyn has dangerous secrets that put her and everyone around her in danger.

She is befriended by another enigmatic passenger who doesn’t wish to give his name yet seems determined to help her. Because of his shirt she decides to start calling him Dakota and it sticks with the group.

Will Robyn and Dakota make it into the new pack m? Can they move on from the pasts that haunt them or will the past catch up to them?

As always heart breaking tragic stories, epic love and the spirit of survival and hope fill these pages. Dannika has done it again with another heart stopping romance and redemption story m. Ugh already can’t wait for the next one! Absolutely must read book! I would give it a 10 if possible.

Dannika Dark has a gift for creating unique and interesting group dynamics. Each differing from one series to the next. I have enjoyed getting to know everyone in the group that has been formed regarding this series.

Robyn and her watchdog pull you into the story making care about her journey and know more about her and her past. I was cheering on the romance and was happy that is not instant love and a love that comes with a few twists and turns.

Knowing who the packmaster, his beta and their mates were a wonderful thing. I absolutely adore the ways and beliefs of his pack and giggle snorted at how this came about. Old school meets technology.

On a side note, I have to say, that my love for and wanting to know more about a certain Mageri character has led me to read the book at least three times now. 😊

There is also a certain "Easter egg" mention of a character related to the above mentioned 💛 If you know, you know. If not, I highly recommend one of my favorites of Dannika's book series, The Mageri Series.

All in all I'm very much enjoying all three books to the start of this series.

challenges at every turn.

I loved Robyn and Montana together.

Robyn is running when she comes across a group of people traveling together to meet with a new alpha. In that group is Montana. From the moment they meet they are drawn to each other. Robyn decides to go with them as she’s wanting to join a pack as well.

Upon arriving at Tak and Hope’s home they are thrown into one thing after another. During this time they are trying to prove to Tak that they are worthy of being a part of his pack. They are also growing closer to each other.

Robyn has a couple of secrets, both of which come out in the book and make for some trouble. One of them leads to sexy times between the two.

This is a story about not only proving yourself to others, but proving your worth to yourself as well. This is different from the other two books in the series, which is refreshing. Not a cookie cutter book.

Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

We are shown what happened after Tak created a new pack with Lakota..
Hope put an ad in newspaper asking for new packmates..
I really liked this continuation of the stories from the first two books.

Robyn is escaping a forced marriage to a cruel packmaster.. she is a human potential, who wants to fall in love first.

But the packmaster, Dax, follows her.. and sets fire to a newly built shed.. and is caught on camera!

Robyn falls in love and finds her mate, Dax is killed, nasty neighbour tries to kill some of the packmates..

But the Arrowhead pack is formed!

Some questions though..
Mate to the healer, Salam, Joy is never seen as a wolf, so what is she?
Deacon left with a lot of anger.. possibly going to join with nasty neighbour, Hamish.
Magic, a woman rescued from the back of Dax’s van, could return… she is a hybrid sensor and wolf.
Two that left, Ian and his sister Selena, could possibly return.. he was crazy and unable to protect her, she was timid and scared of leaving him.

I swear, each book just gets better and better. It’s truly so hard to decided which one is my favorite because they are all so unique and wonderful in their own ways.

I was wary of Robyn when I first met her but it did not take long for me to love her character. Self-less from the very beginning. Always thinking of others and willing do walk away to protect them. Montana protected her from the beginning even though he was unsure of her. He saw her for her, and not the weak human others saw her as. I love how their story was written. So different from Lakota and Melody, and Tak and Hope. It flowed so natural, they all did, but I don’t know how to describe it. IYKYK. I really love the relationship she has with Catcher, and I hope that one day that we learn his story and see him get his own happy ending. I cant wait to read more about each pack member!

I’m a little mixed on this one. I loved the first two books I’m this series. I can see that this book was like a bridge between the first two books and the rest of the series. I was a little disappointed by the romance, it felt like a side plot where I was hoping it would be the main focus. I did like learning the new characters but I didn’t love the way Tak was forcing people to do labor for him while waiting FOREVER to accept people. Seemed like he had no rhyme or reason to why he was accepting people quickly vs waiting forever.

I do look forward to the rest of the series though. I need Catcher to shift and find a mate 🥲 also THE WAY I SCREAMED FOR LUCIEN!! TAKE ME AWAY CROSS BROTHERS

I’m a huge fan of the author/narrator combo of Dark and Poole. They did not disappoint with this new release.

I love how all of Dannika Dark’s series are connected through the same universe. Some characters crossover because they are family or friends. After reading the reading order on Dark’s website suggesting you read this series before the Crossbreed series makes sense.

I couldn’t help but try to figure out Catcher and the last name Nightingale. I can’t help but think they are linked to the Crossbreed series but my memory is not as good as it use to be. LOL

I do remember the connect the Cheetah has to the Mageri series along with Lakota.

Love all the “Easter eggs” in these books.

I loved this so much. I was laughing out loud SO many times. Book 1 was fun because we got to see two characters we know and love find each other. Book 2 was a bit disappointing as it just didn't land for me as the others in this world did. This book introduced so many new characters and had me cracking up continuously. I love the new pack and how they are bonding and learning to depend and rely on each other. This is truly a set of misfits trying to find a place called home. And boy do they have friction and tension as they try to figure each other out. Still I loved it. It was awesome! And I don't want to spoil anything so I won't mention names but holy crap 1 character is truly something else. They had me cracking up sooo much I couldn't not love them. So excited for more!
