Mistake #1: Thinking I could be ‘just friends’ with Dr. Heartbreak.
Mistake #2: Believing I could let him swipe my V-Card without catching feelings.
But giving him my heart would be my biggest mistake of all.

I have no business getting involved with Felix Brighton.
I’ve seen the way he moves through our small town.
With his playful smiles, his hypnotic eyes and his easygoing charm, women are all over him with every step he takes.

Meanwhile, I’m just sweet, quiet Daphne Beaumont…
Just his younger sister’s best friend…
Just the girl he’s barely ever noticed…

Until I somehow end up in more trouble than I can handle.
And Felix makes it his duty to swoop in and save the day.

He should be focused on taking over his father’s medical practice. But all he seems to do is focus on me.
I should be busy preparing for the grand opening of my vintage clothing shop. But all I seem to think about is when I’ll run into him again.

Because I’ve noticed the way he’s been looking at me lately.
Now, I’m curious for a little taste.

But that one itty, bitty kiss explodes into a five-alarm fire that lands us both in loads of smokin’ hot trouble.
That’s how we end up fake-engaged and scrambling to save his dad's medical center. That’s how we end up sleeping under the same roof.

Welp. We might as well make the most of a bad situation, right?
And what could be more fun than one toe-curling, cherry-popping, V-Card swiping night in Felix’s bed?

Of course we can handle it. We’re ‘just friends’, after all.
Plus, I have a list of strict rules to make sure I don’t fall in love.

Except, Felix starts falling for me. Hard and fast.
And with every hot touch and every sweet kiss, he’s dragging me right along with him.

I won’t give him my heart, though.
I mean—I call him ‘Dr. Heartbreak’ for a reason.
Too bad he’s already got my heart in his back pocket. And it’s already shattered in two.

Sweet Thing is a steamy, laugh-out-loud, best friend’s brother romance. It is set in small town Iowa and is part of The Brighton Family Series.

Dr Heartbreak meets his sweet match

I’ve really enjoyed all of the books in this Brighton Family series by Cassie-Ann L Miller. For the most part they’re light and fun to read.

I know from my own experience that being struck by love out of the blue can really happen. Poor Felix didn’t know what hit him when he saw Daphne at just the perfect moment in the perfect alignment of the stars .

It’s such a sweet story and I love that that he fell first. And I love that Daphne finds her way, too.

Highly recommend!

Another great book by Cassie! I am absolutely loving this series!

I was hooked right from the beginning with this one and instantly felt the connection between the two main characters.

My fav part was the mirror scene (take that as you will) & I felt like it was the perfect moment to make you fall for the MMC.

I also really enjoyed how they brought out the best in each other and the FMC was able to stand up against her family!

You get:
• Dual POV
• Small Town
• Spicy Contemporary Romance
• Doctor MMC
• Virgin FMC
• Marriage Of Convience
• Sister's Best Friend

I can't wait to pick up the next book! Available on KU, ebook, paperback, and audiobook.

I can’t get over how many good reviews this has. This was almost DNF but I forced myself to finish. It was so cringey at times I could barely get through it. Daphne acted like such a child sometimes with the way she spoke it felt creepy with the relationship with Felix. Using words like “holy hamburger”, crappity, steaming poop-show, son of a burnt biscuit, fiddlesticks and the worst of all “son of a rusty butt plug” literally wtf. The book also just didn’t make sense. Felix saying he didn’t have a romantic bone in his body but then proceeded to doing the most romantic things anyone could ask for. And I get him saying he only wanted to do those things with her but please, I don’t buy it. He also said she’s the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen and he would always spot her a mile away but meanwhile she’s been around for years and now all of a sudden he notices her?? And to top it all off, all of the typos killed me. Did an editor not go over this book??

Loved the story

Daphne and Felix's story made me laugh. I love how great these two are together. They are complete opposites but yet they complement each other beautifully. If Daphne's parents hadn't done what they did to her, things could have turned out very differently for them. They both had so much to prove and so much to lose but by standing by each other, they come out on top.

Sweet and sexy!

I just started reading romance novels. As someone who typically reads a lot of literary fiction, historical fiction, cozy mysteries, and sometimes fantasy, I came into the romance genre with a healthy amount of skepticism. I wanted something lighter and sexier than my more robust reads, but a lady still has standards that need to be met, you know?

Sweet Thing impressed me. It met my need for passion, spice, and a happy ending.. while ALSO meeting my need for a great story with great imagery and fun characters. I can’t say that about the first several romance novels that I read. Most of them met my need for 🔥 spice 🔥 but left me feeling incomplete in regards to the story. So, I was very pleasantly surprised by Sweet Thing!

The chemistry and tension between Daphne and Felix was EVERYTHING, yall. I had some pretty fun dreams while reading this. There was enough suspense to keep me turning the page without making me so anxious that I felt the need to skip ahead or put it down. It made me smile, sigh, and laugh out loud at various points. Honestly, it almost had me wanting to move to a small town and open my own boutique lol.

I’m still figuring out where this whole romance thing fits into my bookshelves..but I think this book just sold me on the genre in general. It was perfectly balanced across the board and I can’t wait to read more!

Crazy enough, I was about to give this a 4 star rating, but there were just too many issues for me to do so. I landed at about 3.5.

I almost chucked this into dnf land near the beginning. She was way too much of a doormat, and factor in all the unnecessary cutesy cursing, I didn't like Daphne much. She was too boring. Luckily, she got better, but it took a bit. I get what the author was going for with the cutesy cursing, but it didn't land. It was poorly executed. Even being sheltered, people don't really do that as much as the author put in there. It stuck out too much.

Something that really pissed me off was Felix's dad. He knew how much the practice meant to him, and Felix was already running things fine. To then come up and say that he doesn't think you are good enough is a kick in the face. I don't care that it was a ploy, it still made him feel like trash, and for that I think dad needs to redeem himself with me.

Then, at then end, her parents suddenly are sorry after a discussion with Rainbow? Nope, not buying it. Rainbow had to have threatened them with something. After they just kicked her out, i don't believe they are suddenly sorry.

I did still enjoy this book, and I will read the next one.

Sweet, sexy, and oh so funny!

I am truly enjoying the Brighton family! This story has so much more than a “small town best friend’s brother romance”, though! The interior monologues of both Daphne and Felix feel so true. The interplay between the families and friends is so heartfelt, ridiculous, and, wonderful. The sexy scenes have steam rising off the pages (or screen)! And I laughed out loud so many times throughout this book! There’s also a real character growth, some for Daphne as she grows into her own, but even more for Felix, as he slowly recognizes, and eventually acknowledges the changes in himself and his life, since she literally bumped into him on the sidewalk. Many romances’ male POV feel like the author has written what they expect their female readers want the man to be like. Miller really lets Felix‘s voice shine throughout. I definitely recommend this book and the whole series!

A Sweet Read

I was drawn into this sweet read about Felix, a 31 year old doctor, and according to him, not a romantic bone in his body and his younger sister’s BF, Daphne, a 23 year old who has been disrespected by her parents, and pushed by them into an engagement with a true scumbag. Daphne manages to win over Felix with her sweetness, and when she offers herself up for a fake relationship with him so he can prove himself to his father, when she finally stands up to her parents and rejects the suitor they picked for her. While there are few surprises, the storyline is well written and such a sweet read. I highly recommend this book. It left me with a smile, and anticipating the author’s next installment.

wow

Wow, just wow! Daphne and Felix have blown my mind! Daphne has been controlled her whole life. She’s ready for a change, but her parents think they still control her. She Connects with her best friends brother Felix. He encourages her to live her own life and with that her courage and strength grow. With the support of her friends and family, She puts her parents in their place. Felix needs her help and she gives it willingly. The rest is history. I love the way this family is so supportive and their lives intertwine. It had me laughing, as well as crying. To me that is the sign of a great book. Can’t wait to see what happens next in this family.

Felix is looking at his phone when Daphne slams into him and her coffee goes all over him. They are attracted to each other, but Daphne is best friends with his sister Karli. They become friends, and in a twist end up fake engaged. They both start to feel more and Daphne is fighting it because he’s Dr. Heartbreak. Can they be together? Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing book. I love Felix and Daphne and the character development is amazing. Great supporting characters. This book has sarcasm, slight angst, and the spice is awesome. Go grab it now

All the stars!!

I just loved Felix and Daphne. And now, Cassie is going to have to buy me a new Kindle. There was so much sexual tension between these two that my Kindle was about to combust. Good Lord!

Daphne's parents are something else. New money snooty and think that their female children need to marry rich and never work. Felix, the hot delicious town doctor and brother of Daphne's friend Karli gets fake engaged to Daphne to help Felix keep the family clinic when the Brighton patriarch decides to retire. What could go wrong? Or right?

What a fantastic read!

Finally! I’ve been waiting for this story, and it did not disappoint! These characters are so compelling and authentic in the emotion, and the chemistry between Felix and Daphne sizzles right off the page!! Sweet Thing is sister best friend romance perfection! Beautifully told, all the feels, and completely and utterly consuming. THIS is what romance is all about and this is why Ms Miller is the pinnacle of dreamy, laughing out loud, and swoony romance. Definitely pick this one up. Happy reading

You have to love these small town romance stories!!

Wow quiet and timid Daphne finds that she can have what she wants once she learns how to not let anyone or thing stand in her way!
Karli had an amazing story of her own but you see !more of her brothers come into this story. See how one with a flare of women in his path takes on a mission to save a damsel in distress.
Interesting banter, success and Intimacy and sweet sweet love.
I find that C Miller's books always get finish quickly because I can't stop until they are finished and yet I don't want them to end.

Love love loved it!!! Daphne and Felix are so cute!!! Daphne was under her parent’s thumbs for too long. She finally fights her way to be independent and open her own boutique, she then finds out her parents have arranged for her to be engaged to a disgusting man. After she bumps into Doctor Felix 🤤, it’s brought to her attention that she doesn’t want to marry Edison. She ends up fake engaged to Dr. Handsome to help him save his medical practice from his father selling it. Gah this is such a sweet story, I love this series!

DNF, so it's one star. The dialogue and characters felt really awkward and unnatural. The female lead in particular uses cutesy "curses" and phrases all the time that were extremely cringe-worthy.
The whole premise of the book is a giant stretch, just unrealistic. Everything and everyone is a bit too over the top.
Maybe it's just a writing style I don't enjoy, but I got to around 30%, skipped around a bunch of chapters, and read the end. Style didn't improve at the end.

Daphne and Felix's story is fun and heartfelt all at once. Running into Felix is a defining moment in their lives. With him in her corner, Daphne emerges as a brave, confident woman, but Felix can't be the wonderful, supportive, caring man she wants; no, they're just friends. Right? Enjoy their story, I did. This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

I loved it, the mutual dynamic changes in personality

Felix and Daphne couldn’t be more different but that’s what makes this story so intriguing. The changes they go through because they are selflessly supporting each other. They find joy in their times together. This is a very happy read.

I read both books in this series, and the stories were just okay in my opinion. I like steamy romances, but there was too much of it and over usage of the F bomb, so probably a 2.5 for me. Also the author needs to research her location better. I grew up in Iowa, and there are no mountains or ranches. Maybe the author was confusing Iowa with Idaho? Annoying...

Felix and Daphne

What I liked most about this story is you didn't get bombarded with the side characters - they were there but it was just the right amount of side story.

Couldn't stand Daphnes' parents, I felt Daphne was too soft on them and I was hoping for that joke of a forced fiance to get what he deserved.

Good read!!!

Another Sweet Thing

Once again I have truly enjoyed reading Cassie Miller book. This is the second book in the series and I can’t wait to read another. There is just something about her characters that I like and the story flows so smoothly. Not to mention the spice throughout. Ready for another!

OMG…what a LOL, steamy, emotional explosion in more ways than you can count. Filled with so many feels and watching Daphne run Felix thru those emotions is a delight. And watching her stand up and putting boundaries for her parents was a delight. Loved it!!!

Written well

Pretty good small town romance with good supporting characters. Felix was a good character. Took me a while to like Daphne. The dynamic of Felix losing the clinic from his father was not plausible.

I was nervous about the whole virgin thing, but I was pleasantly surprised. There didn’t seem to be that huge of a difference in maturity, which was a huge relief. I thought this was super cute and adorable. Felix is a top contender for book boyfriend of the year.

Such a fun read! These two are sweet, yet so much more than I expected. Daphne is strong, and is trying to become independent. When she lets Felix in he becomes her friend, but so much more. Entertaining throughout, but still seems like some areas drag.
I recommend this book. Told in dual POV.
