All’s fair in love and war…until your brother brings his bad boy, ice hockey playing best friend into your life.
Riley: I’m pouring all my savings into launching my own catering business, so the last thing I need is distraction. Even if he is six feet five inches tall, plays ice hockey, and is probably one of the most intriguing, and also maddening, people I’ve met. Ever.
He’s grumpy, but he’s funny and kind, too. He’s misunderstood and even though he’s one of the most famous players coming up in the ranks right now, he doesn’t feel seen by those he loves…and I get that. But I’ve got my own that my dreams fail, my mother keeps rejecting me, and the big one––my fear of commitment.
Jake: Getting suspended for ‘anger issues’ lands me in Sweetkiss Creek at my agent's request. Licking my wounds and taking a time out sounds ridiculous…until I meet her. She’s feisty, sassy, and fiery enough that I swear she could melt the ice I skate on.
I never would have thought I’d find solace and an unexpected ally in the person who’s old bedroom I’m staying in. The last thing I want or need is to fall in love––but for some reason my heart isn’t getting the memo.
The Art of Falling in Love with Your Brother’s Best Friend is an enemies to lovers, brother’s best friend closed door romcom with a very grumpy hero, a French Bulldog named Posh, a rescue Collie-mix named Becks, and a turtle named Brad Pitt. Chemistry, swoony kisses, and tension collide in this small town romance!

Note: I was given an arc copy of this book to post a review about. All thoughts and opinions are my own
l've read a lot of hockey romances since I discovered clean/closed door sports romance and they just get better and better. I've fallen in love with all these teams and their family dynamics so to see Jake go back to his family-like team was one of the best parts of this book. Admitting mistakes is hard especially when they looked like a good thing at the time. But Jake does this and though they give him a little grief his former teammates are gracious. I loved how he showed Riley she was worth something and the cuteness of the ring pops was sooo good! And honestly I'LL never look at pantry's the same way again either (iykyk).
I even appreciated Riley's brother's chillness with Jake dating his sister. He still warned him but understood the fact that she was an adult and could make her own choices.
And Riley!! Honestly I was as impressed as Jake was when she stood up for him to Greta and it just warmed my heart that it touched Jake soo much!! I love a protective MMC soo much but when the girl can do some protecting too it just takes the cake. Because I think it's important for him to know he's got someone in his corner too. And the fact that though she wasn't there, when Jake told her what got him fired and that it was because he stood up against her ex's cheating, it still affected her and healed some wounds. So there was just a whole lot of standing up for each other going around and it was beautiful!
And y'all the chocolate scene and the ice cream dates!!! So much swoon! I will be reading more of her books!!
And I wanted to say that it was the funniest and awesomest meet cute ever!!! I laughed so hard out loud when her face met the window and squished against it. That was such an epic scene!!
All in all I will absolutely read this book again!! Such a good story!!
Read if you like 🏒found family 🏒cinnamon roll hero 🏒cutest dogs ever 🏒he falls first 🏒brothers best friend 🏒candy rings 🏒entrepreneur private chef 🏒ice hockey player 🏒stolen kisses in the kitchen
The Art of Falling in Love with Your Brother's Best Friend is the fourth book in the Sweetkiss Creek series. While some familiar characters may pop up, this can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone with no issues.
I have enjoyed every single book in this series so far... but this one has certainly been my absolute favorite. Of course, it certainly doesn't hurt that it's a hockey/brother's best friend romance... two of my very favorite tropes! Beyond that though, these characters were just impossible not to love! Right from the start, their meet-cute drew me in. It was awkward and hilarious... I couldn't help but laugh out loud! This is one meet cute that I'm not likely to be forgetting any time soon! Their chemistry was fantastic right from the start and while sure, it may have had some insta-love vibes, I personally happen to love that! And it worked perfectly for these characters. While Jake seemed like he might be a bit of a grump at first, we very quickly see that there's a lot more to both characters, and I really enjoyed getting to know them!
And not just them! The side characters caught my interest just as much. I loved the glimpses of the Renegades hockey team and just know their series is going to be absolutely fantastic! I cannot wait!
The Art of Falling in Love with Your Brother's Best Friend is a closed-door romance, with chemistry filled kisses but nothing beyond that and no language.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
2.5/5- some of my favorite tropes were in this book, yet I found this book so disappointing. The timeline of events was unbelievably fast, there was no character development of the main characters, and the mom was the only one who kind of had some growth but it was choppy and unrealistic. The book was totally predictable (which is normally not a deal breaker for me), but the one time I predicted there was going to be an exciting encounter with the ex…there wasn’t even that. Around 90% of the way through, I almost stopped reading, but I was so close and just wanted to push through. The only things I did like out of the book were the conversations regarding Jake’s dad and a few of the moments between Riley and Jake.
0/5 for smut. I don’t know how this book is rated so highly.
**spoilers**
At the end, Riley moves to be with Jake, but we don’t get any info on why or how that works. It was such a big deal that they were going to have to do long distance because Riley wants to be near her family and she’s starting her own business, but we get no indication if she continues her business or if she just moved to be closer to a boy.
“It’s the moment you know. You know that “me” has become “we” and you’re never going back.” 🏒🏒🏒🏒🏒 My first Anne Kemp novel and definitely not my last!!! I loved that I was totally immersed in the storyline. This is Riley & Jake’s story, part of the Sweetkiss Creek series but totally a stand alone….although now I need all of them. So many funny scenes that will have you laughing out loud! Stolen kisses in the kitchen (swoon); standing up/defending each other (cheers); adorable pup moments; watermelon candy rings (awe sweet); grumpy, kind hockey player; distracted caterer…fantastic, and loved every minute! Thank you, Anne!
I was given a digital copy of this book for an honest review. This was such a cute and sweet romance. If you like protective and sweet hockey players as your MMC, then this book is for you. If you like sassy, snarky, protective FMCs, then go ahead, this is for you. If you love animals, guess what? This is also for you. Go check it out if any of these things have piqued your interest.
A small town, sweet sport romcom to lighten your day.
A sassy FMC (Riley) + a cinnamon roll MMC (Jake) = fun banter and awww moments.
Loved this story, the addition of the puppers added to the heart warming vibe.
I appreciated how the angst was more between Riley and her mother, rather than the usual “love interest fall out”. The relationship between mother and daughter is told so well, and I really enjoyed reading their journey.
I was sent this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Oh my gosh I have laughed so hard that I almost rolled in the floor. This book is so full of happiness and funny scenes that there were times I had to stop reading for a minute to catch my breath, especially a cat burglar stealing panties. You will just have to read it to find out. Anne Kemp knows how to tickle the funny bone.
Riley Richards is focused. She wants to start her own catering business and she is laser focused on everything which is how she ends up in a compromising position at the beginning of the book. I knew where the scene was headed, but I never dreamed it would end up as it did.
Jake December is a pro hockey player who has been suspended due to a fight. His agent has suggested he come visit his family in Sweetkiss Creek. Jake is not really sure about the trip, but he decides to take the plunge, and plunge it what it will be. Spending time with the Richards family and their friends will be the best thing that ever happened to him.
I loved the way Riley and Jake ended up meeting one another. It was a classic, and one that neither will soon forget. At first Riley only sees a bulky pro athlete with anger issues, although he is also easy on the eyes. Underneath all that gruff and grumpy exterior is a funny and kind man. Riley is a spitfire. I loved her character. This girl has been trying to prove herself and get a compliment from her mother for so long. She is sassy and motivated to be the best. All the supporting characters are just as engaging and fun to get to know. Family is important in Sweetkiss Creek. Humor abounds in this wonderful romantic comedy.
I closed this book with a sigh and a little snicker. This book would make a wonderful romantic comedy movie. It is that good.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Have you ever read a series of books where you fall in love with the community as much as you do the characters?! This series does it for me! The Sweetkiss Creek community and its residents hold a special place in my heart and this time Anne Kemp brings us Riley (who we know from previous books) and Jake’s story!
Riley, who is fiercely independent, bound and determined to stand on her own two feet! She’s on her trial year to see if she can make it as a caterer! One thing she’s not so lucky at is picking vehicles – her own or otherwise! One thing she wasn’t planning on was her brother bringing his best friend to town!
Jake, hockey hottie extraordinaire has just been suspended from his team. While his best friend/manager sort things out, he gets put up in the small community of Sweetkiss Creek! Lady Luck is playing him a weird twist of fate as he ends up having to stay in his best friend sister’s childhood bedroom during his stay! Jake is determined to hone his skills while in the sleepy little town, but what he doesn’t plan on is running into Riley at every turn!
These two are in way over their heads when Jake first arrives in town and the banter is as quick as a flying Fiat! Simple moments and accidental moments alike make us love them as individuals but as something potentially more! Neither wants to be bogged down with distractions and yet with their paths continually crossing you can’t help but laugh at the awkward coincidences! Let’s not forget the ironically named dog names of Beckham and Posh, plus a turtle named Brad Pitt! The supporting characters are so fun and help make this blip in the world that much more appealing or cringy depending on who you interact with! This book will have you laugh and swoon at the same time!
The Art Of Falling In Love With Your Brother's Best Friend by Anne Kemp is the 4th book in the Sweetkiss Creek Series but can be read as a standalone. I didn't realize how much I love the brother's best friend trope, but I've read a few the last couple of weeks, and I love it. This one was another hockey romance, and I love a good hockey romance. If I can, I will read them all. Anne did not disappoint with this book. It isntold from a Dual POV, Riley Richards and Jake December. Jake comes to Sweetkiss Creek after being suspended for fighting his hockey teammate. On his way to meet with his best friend/agent, Travis, a woman he doesn't know, gets in his car mistaking it for her ride share care, not knowing she is Travis's sister. Talk about a great meet-cute! The banter and chemistry are perfection. The characters are wonderful. I loved everything about this book.
🏒 Hockey Romance ❤️ Closed Door Rom-com 🏒 Adorable Meet-Cute ❤️ No Third Act Breakup 🏒 Tons of Chemistry ❤️ Pantry Kisses
Favorite Quotes 🌟 But this one, she's defiant and reminds me of a wet cat. She puts a hand on her hip and looks squarely at me. "Is your last name really a month out of the year? And who are you anyway to go around picking people up and acting like you're their driver?" 🌟 "I can't promise youva future without challenges, but I can promise you that if you accept this, and me, I will always be by your side, cheering you on, supporting you, and giving you all that I am." 🌟It's the moment you know. You know that "me" has become "we" and you're never going back. Everything is do, I'll be doing for Riley. For us. Forever.
I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.
All’s fair in love and war…until your brother brings his bad boy, ice hockey playing best friend into your life…
Feisty and determined Riley has pour weed all of her life savings into her own catering business, so the last thing she needs is a distraction, which seems to be in the form of dear Jake, a misunderstood but, kindhearted, famous hockey player who, also is Riley’s older brother’s best friend and agent. The last thing he wants or needs is to fall in love.
But, for some reason Riley and Jake’s hearts don’t get the memo…
“He holds my gaze with unwavering intensity and its impact slams against my heart and soul, wrapping itself around me. It’s at this moment that I realize I could be in trouble. Because I’m pretty much certain I’m starting to fall in love, and fall hard. And there’s no going back.”
@annekempauthor what a delightful and fun quick-read story this is! Filled with charming characters, a grump hero, sizzling chemistry, swoony clean kisses, and the right amount of tension! From the crazy way the two main characters meet is the right slap shot, to engage one in this story! It’s a wonderful book worth reading!
“I can’t promise you a future without challenges, but I can promise you that if you accept this, and me, I will always be by your side, cheering you on, supporting you, and giving you all that I am.’”
OK so before I get get into the review, I will say that.. this book, along with the other books in the series are the reason I will always be a romcom romance girly, give me a fun friend group in a made up small town and I’m a happy girl lol.
Now for the reason we’re here, Anne Kemp you’re done it again, you already know I love my Sweet kiss Creek girls and I was so happy to be back in town!! From this day forward when I need an example of the perfect meet-cute trope it will be this book!
Riley, is very independent, determined to start his new business, she’s on her trial year to see if she can make it as a caterer.
Jake, hockey hottie extraordinaire has just been suspended from his team. While his best friend/manager sort things out, he gets put up in the small community of Sweetkiss Creek! Lady Luck is playing him a weird twist of fate his best friend/ agents sister jumps in his car, thinking he’s her ride share driver and start bossing him around lol.
Their chemistry from the very beginning is great, and even though Riley and Jake don’t think their romance wasn’t insta- love I do, I’m also glad the author touched on a few heavier topics like her relationship with her mom, and Jake admitting to mistakes in his career as well as the issues his dad was dealing with.
I loved the appearances from the other ladies of Sweetkiss, and we got to see glimpses of the Renegades hockey team and just know their series is going to be absolutely fantastic!
This was such a fun read! Great funny moments and a swoony romance. I loved it. Riley and Jake had a hilarious meet-cute before she learned that he was her brother’s best friend, client, and a hockey player. Burned by a previous bad experience, Riley had sworn off dating hockey players, and Jake had his own problems after getting dumped by his team for a locker room fight. “‘How many people get let go for fighting…in a game where fighting is a prerequisite?’” He was trying to find a place back with his old team where he had burned some bridges. “I had a case of ‘I’m the star-itius’ and it was bad.” Not to mention his ex, a journalist with a vendetta against him. It’s not a good time for either of them to fall for each other, but the heart doesn’t always listen…“Note to self: take into account that you’re kissing your brother’s best friend next time. Also, your brother’s client. It’s like I jammed a little family and a touch of business with a scoop of personal pleasure into a blender, turning it on high without thinking.” The characters are engaging and fun. There’s some great banter. The relationship development was sweet. I really enjoyed this book. This book is part of a series and there is carryover but this story also reads well as a standalone. This is a closed door romance with mild innuendo and no harsh language.
If you’re looking for super sweet hockey romance, this one’s for you! Riley and Jake have a meet not-so-cute that quickly turns into sparks. Jake is having a break in Sweetkiss Creek but will soon be heading back to River City to play for his former hockey team again. Their flame is new and Riley’s been burned before…but Jake is determined to make it work.
Favorite Quotes: 🐈 But this one, she’s defiant and reminds me of a wet cat. She puts a hand on her hip and looks squarely at me. “Is your last name really a month out of the year? And who are you anyway to go around picking people up and acting like you’re their driver?” Meow.
✨ Life is pretty rough these days, and if we get these little glimmers appearing to make us forget what a dumpster fire things can be, how amazing is that?
❤️ ‘I can’t promise you a future without challenges, but I can promise you that if you accept this, and me, I will always be by your side, cheering you on, supporting you, and giving you all that I am.’
🔥She’s my endgame. There’s no one else.
*I received a complimentary copy from the author. All opinions are my own. No positive review was required.
Plot: Riley is making big decisions in her life. She just moved into her own apartment, she’s starting her own catering business, and she’s out of a terrible relationship from the public eye. When her brother’s best friend, and also his client, Jake, comes into town, and she mistakes him for her rideshare driver, and unlikely meet cute evolves into a friendship. As they spend more time together, will they develop attraction? What will happen when Jake gets to return to playing hockey? Riley has been burned before, will she take her chance out love?
What I liked: I liked that Jake and Riley listens to each other. There was no judgment and only empathy. I also loved that Jake has been standing up for Riley well before he even knew her.
What I didn’t like: I didn’t like that Riley’s mom was so mean to her. The apology toward the end of the book seemed very surface level. I have a hard time believing that someone who treated their own kid as poorly as she did is able to accept constructive criticism and take the blame as quickly as she did.
Swearing: no swearing
Physical intimacy level: swoony, closed door
Star rating: five stars
Trope: Brother’s best friend, hockey romance, smalltown, romance, sports romance, enemies to lovers (kinda), grumpy/sunshine
The Art of Falling in Love With Your Brother's Best Friend~ Sweetkiss Creek #4 by Anne Kemp.
PUBLISHER DESCRIPTION All’s fair in love and war…until your brother brings his bad boy, ice hockey player.
We have another fantastic story to add to this brilliant series from Anne. Bad boy Jake needs some time away from the ring. He goes to Sweetkiss Creek to stay with his best friend and agent Travis. While driving in town he comes across Riley, who happens to jump into his car! Little did he know she was his best friend's sister.
The Art of Falling in Love with Your Brother's Best Friend has been written extremely well, with loveable characters you fall in love with. The storyline is fantastic and had me engaged from beginning to end, with laugh-out-loud and fingers crossed moments this is definitely a page-turner. I love this series and have only read a few of Anne's books since I found her last summer. I highly recommend this book to all, if I could give more than 5 🌟 then I would without a doubt.
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Easy-to-read, Entertaining, Happily Ever After, Inspirational, Page-turner, Romantic, Realistic, and Wonderful characters
First let me say: Absolute BEST MEET-CUTE EVER! I cannot tell you how hard I laughed when Riley hopped in the back of Jake’s car and started commanding him around! Like she owned the back seat -
And poof… just like that, I was hooked…I could NOT put this book down!
I love a good hockey rom-com as much as the next gal, but this one was unusually sweet. No 3rd act break-up, TONS of chemistry, and oooooh, those kisses…HELLO! Riley and Jake were just wonderful together.
Plus…their banter! Absolute GOLD!
Other highlights: the “found family” of his Renegade hockey team, the repentance/redemption of his return once he realized his mistake, and their acceptance/friendship. Her redemption with her mother, the relationship with her brother, her friend group. His relationship with his father was also exceptionally sweet, and I adored all the quirky side characters! (Please tell me that Georgie and Levi are up next????) And did I mention the adorable pups?
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a great hockey romance, with minimal angst, lots of chemistry, and tons of redemption. (Not to mention an incredible meet-cute!) I give it a well-deserved 4.5 stars!
A perfect example of a romcom (and it actually makes you laugh!). And it contains the most perfect meet cute ever 😆
I just loved everything about this book. The characters (all of them, pets included), the banter, the development, the tropes, it's just a perfect blend of everything that I love. It confirms that Anne Kemp is one of my favorite authors now.
I could say loots of things, bit I'll sum it up with "I loooooooooooved it".
This is part of a series, but can definitely be read as a standalone (you'll just not say YAY! when a previously know character mades and appearance). But once you read one ot this, you'll want to read them all.
- Brother's Best friend - Sports romance (hockey to be specific) - Enemies to lovers vibes (briefly) - Insta love vibes (more like insta connection) - Big manly rough exterior/cinnamon roll inside Hero - Clean romance (just kisses to swoon over) - A Romcom gem - No third act breakup - Dual POV - HEA
Just go ahead and read it, it'll make your day.
I had the opportunity to be in the ARC team and I'm leaving my honest opinion.
If you're looking for a clean brother's best friend, hockey romance with a hilarious meet-cute, this is the book for you.
I loved everything about this story. Riley and Jake had such good banter and chemistry. They're great on their own and even better together. I love how Jake defends and supports Riley, and I am always a fan of a large, tough MMC who has a tiny (and in this case dramatic) dog that he adores.
The secondary characters were also wonderful. Jake's Renegades teammates and coach are simply the best. Riley's family is lovely, and the way you see her relationship with her mom shift is so sweet. Dylan and Georgie are such great girl friends who support and encourage Riley. Levi and Austin are awesome (and the fact that they're brother NFL players who have a podcast is golden).
I also really appreciated that while Travis gave Jake a hard time, it was all in good fun and he wasn't actually upset his best friend wanted to pursue his sister (because why wouldn't you want your best friend to become your brother-in-law).
Thanks, Anne, for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest opinion.
A romcom look at behind-the-scenes sports celebrity
They are on our screens, larger than life, and we all feel free to pick apart every aspect of their lives. We forget that they are also real people whose lives are filled with other real people who know them away from the celebrity image. I love how the author showed us how difficult it can be for those around the celebrity and the impact that media intrusion can have. Riley had had a nasty exposure to celebrity media before, and had to consciously work to trust Jake to be honest with her.
I love how Jake learned that '...there is no 'I' in "team"...'; that he needs a supportive team to shine; and he needs to BE a supportive team member as well. I love how he was honest with Riley about his past, warts and all, so she could make informed decisions. I had gotten so involved with their relationship that I was kind of shocked at how little time had passed before Jake had to report for new team practice sessions.
I received a free advance copy of this story from the author via BookFunnel and voluntarily chose to share my review.
This was my first book written by Anne Kemp that I’ve read and it won’t be my last! I received this book as an ARC in exchange for my opinion/review… and after reading it I couldn’t wait to write this! Jake and Riley are such an unlikely duo (I honestly didn’t even think they’d end up friends)… their meet-cute was hilarious and really laid the ground work for the start of their interesting relationship. Jake is an “angry” hockey player seeking a reprieve/hiding location for a bit while an incident he was involved in blows over. Jake’s agent, (who happens to be Riley’s brother and Jake’s best friend), decides to bring him to his hometown of Sweetkiss Creek to stay out of the public’s eye. Riley is a chef looking to start her own business but struggles with confidence/self worth due to past insecurities from some family drama. Not only is Jake a protective MMC (VERY swoon worthy), but Riley stands up and speaks out for Jake… even when he isn’t around. I loved watching each one of these main characters grow individually, learn things about themselves, and figure out what they really want in life. Do you think that is each other? The best way to find out is to read this book… you won’t regret it!! You’ll never look at pantries the same way again, I can tell you that much!
🇺🇸I really liked the story. It was very exciting and funny. It was a great combination of brother's best friend and ice hockey with a beautiful setting. The setting was a small town setting and I really liked it. The story could also be read independently of the previous volumes. I really liked the characters and they developed really well. I'm excited to see what happens next in the small town. I really liked the writing style and the cover is beautiful too. I definitely recommend reading it.
Another brilliant book in this series, this is book four. Riley's car is back in the garage again she's not having much luck with it. When a car share is called to pick her up, she mistakingly gets into the back of the little white Fiat that finally pulls up. Jake is driving to meet his agent and best friend when suddenly a gorgeous woman jumps into his car telling him where to go. If this is Sweetkiss Creek it's not going to be to bad. What a meet cute except when Riley realises her mistake she's totally embarrassed, then she finds out he hit her ex so he's not all that bad. This starts a series of cute accidental meetings between the two. But Riley is sworn off men and especially hockey players. Jake really needs to improve his image so he'll get signed by another team. Will these two ever find away to be more than friends even though she's his best friends sister. What's not to love about this easy to read story with wo derful characters and laugh out loud moments
This HAS to be my favorite of this series!! I mean I'm a hockey girl through and through!!
Dangle a hockey protective yummie sweet hearted man in front of my and I am fucking sold!!
Like yall know I always do my romance down and dirty but Anne kemp just makes her stories soooo frigging good u don't miss the smut!!!
This sorta kinda insta love romance of brothers best friend is perfect. I couldn't stop reading it.
Jake is seriously everything you need in ur hockey man and ur man in general. He is so sweet and so aggressive when need be it's just 😍😍😍
I seriously love how stubborn and such a spitfire Riley is. And I love how Anne made her such an independent woman and take no shit not even from her mom.
These two were tue story I didn't know I needed from this series!!!
Now I am seriously stoked to see how Levi and Georgie's story goes
What an adorable read! Especially for my first hockey rom-com!
I’ve always heard horror stories about ride shares gone wrong. Thankfully, even though Riley got into the wrong car, she made it to her destination and got a happy ending! - it did take a few days to get there, but she did get there!
Both MCs were adorable and sweet. Even though Jake had an angry side, it only comes out when there’s truly a reason for it. Riley is a strong and gutsy girl! I loved how she stood up for Jake at one point in the book.
The chemistry and connection was perfect, and blazed off the page! I like a book with multiple kisses 🤭
I will admit, I had to google how Becks and Posh fit together. I’m clearly not up to date of my modern celeb knowledge!
At only 244 pages in my e-reader this was the perfect length for a quick and easy read!
Sassy Riley has no car as it’s in the garage so her friend calls a ride. She’s busy talking to her brother Travis as a car appears and she gets in and gives instructions and berates the driver for not knowing what he’s doing. Jake is a bad boy IceHockey player who continued an on ice fight off ice. It got him the sack and his agent Jake is trying to get him a spot on his old team back. Meanwhile he’s to stay at Jake’s parent’s house for a week to chill and lie low. …No spoilers , just note this is one of those immersive books that you gotta keep page turning to get the gossip on these two . Brilliant writing from Anne Kemp , she has done good with this great series. This one especially as I love my hockey. Solid characters with depth , the dialogue is superb and fun . Just great storytelling . I read a forwarded book and I’m leaving my review voluntarily in my own words
This was my first Anne Kemp book, and my introduction to Sweetkiss Creek. And I'm so glad I gave this small town and such sweet story a go! This book tells the story about a grumpy hockey player that after a bit of a fight was suspended and it's mending his career with the help of his agent and best friend. Riley is sassy and fierce, and knows what she wants and what to do to get it. She just was not expecting to be so atracted to Jake. Their "meet-cute" was really something and, from that moment on their banter and kind of insta-love developed. We could see that Jake was not grumpy at all, and was such a marshmallow, with a really gooye center. I'm definitely going to dive into the other books in this series!
The Art of Falling in Love with Your Brother’s Best Friend is just what the title says. The main character Riley falls in love with her brother’s best friend, Jake. I loved both of the characters. Both of them were just sweet. Jake was a grumpy character, but I could tell from the very beginning when we first met him, he is a sweet guy. We could relate…I am a grumpy, sweet person as well. The supporting cast…the author did great at making them well, a supporting cast, and you get to really feel for them as well. The plot was so thought out and character development was good as well. It was funny, gooey, sweet…just enjoyable overall. I started reading this at work, and just couldn't put it down through the day.
This is a dual pov, clean romance. It is part of the Sweetkiss Creek series but can easily be read as a stand alone novel.
This was such a cute story and had the funniest start/ meet cute. It also added hockey romance to the Sweetkiss series which I love. Riley is such a spunky character but has had a past relationship that burned her and made her hesitant to put herself out there. I love how she is making her way in the world and learning to grow into who she wants to be. Jake is a character that you just instantly love. Between the way he treats his dog and the way he is protective of those he cares about, he is just an all over great guy. I will say his relationship with Posh is the cutest thing.
The Art of Falling in Love with Your Brother’s Best Friend was a 5 ⭐️ read!
Riley and Jake’s story was fun from the very beginning! Unexpected love at an unexpected time and place. The dual POV style really added to the story. Neither Jake or Riley were looking for love, but it found them even though they had a bit of a rocky start. I loved how things came together and the moments they shared throughout the book. The fountain and the pantry were two of my favorite spots!! IYKYK
