It’s hard being a half-blooded werewolf—especially when you have no idea that werewolves actually exist.
Clementine – I didn’t know what to expect when I decided to move with my dad and brother to Blackfern Valley in backyard British Columbia. The first thing I noticed was how ridiculously fit and good looking everyone was. Then I was hit by the odd behaviour, comments and how everyone in town seemed to hate me. Well, everyone excluding Liam. He seemed like the only friendly person in the Valley.
Liam – I wasn’t expecting my world to be shaken so hard when half-breeds moved into the pack. They’re extremely rare, and often hunted and terminated by pure-blood werewolves if they don’t develop a wolf at sixteen. I thought that when my Uncle Jed’s reign had ended, that the hatred would have died along with him. I was wrong. They were after Clementine and something inside me couldn’t let that happen.
Available on Amazon, Google Play Books, Kobo, and GoodNovel.
When Clementine's father packs up her and her younger brother and moves them back to his hometown, she's okay with it. She's always been bullied and seen as the outcast so nothing can really surprise her, or so she thought. She soon realises how toned and pretty the people in Blackfern are, then the comments start, and apparently everyone hates her. Well, everyone except for Liam of course... Liam didn't expect his world to be turned upside down when some half-breed weres join his pack, they're incredibly rare and are normally hunted and killed when their wolf doesn't come in at sixteen. He thought that the blood hate sowed by his Uncle Jed had ended when he was killed, but apparently, it's still rampant. When they set their sights on Clementine, something inside Liam just can't stand idly by. Can the hate that spreads throughout the Blackfern Valley pack be fixed?
When I read the blurb for this one, I had to think for a hot minute before I decided that I needed to read it. I have a backlog of books on my TBR list, but I just could not go past this one, and it did not disappoint.
I smashed this book out in about four days. I read over 60% of it in the first 24 hours because I was that invested in the story and the characters. The story isn't exactly new, but I don't even care. I had a few key things figured out virtually from word go, and I was totally fine with that. I think part of the fun of predictability in some books is waiting for the characters to figure something out that you've already worked out. It made this an absolute page turner, and I was turning pages furiously into the night, well past my bedtime, because I needed these characters to figure this stuff out and sohelpmegod if it doesn't happen soon, I'm going to rage. So yeah, to say that this is a page turner is a total understatement. The story is an easy read though it does have a massive case of body shaming and such that happens throughout the entire book, so if you're sensitive to that sort of content, I'd tread with caution. While it did make something tick every now and then in the back of my mind, the way that Clementine handled it and the way that Liam handled it was brilliant. I've always been a plus size woman, my entire life I've always had SOMEONE comment on my size, regardless of whether I was smaller or bigger than I currently am. For some reason, someone would always have to comment. It's very tough when THAT'S the thing that people will pinpoint to try and cut you deep and hurt you, simply because they can't find anything else. I've come a long way on my self love journey, and yes, while I still wish a million things about the carriage my soul is riding around in, I can honestly say that I do genuinely love and respect myself now. If the way that I look is the only thing that someone can nitpick at, I feel like I'm doing a pretty damn good job at being a decent person. Another thing that hit close to home for me was Clementine's past relationship. I was in a narcissistic relationship, though mine was covert. So, I could completely understand what Clem had gone through and could really empathise with the trauma that she had from that. Though I did want to throttle her a couple of times, I could still see it from the other side and understand why she was reacting the way that she was. Still wanted to throttle her a few times though. This was a long read at roughly 570 pages, yet the story just flowed, and Elle's narrative really dropped me into the middle of the story and allowed me to just fly through it with ease.
I really adored the characters. Clementine is someone that I could see a lot of myself in, as mentioned above. I love how fiery she is and how she doesn't care about hierarchy or any of that nonsense, this is how she is and she's not changing for anyone. She is unapologetically herself and I love that. I adored Liam's character and how even though he was raised in a pack where duty comes first, he still followed his heart, and he didn't let the negative thoughts and opinions of others sway his decision. He still went after what he wanted even though everyone was telling him not to. I also loved Liam's parents, I thought they were fun, especially when his mother is trying to pick out fabric patterns. I loved Clem's dad and the banter that they had with each other. It made me smile every time he came on page, and I just wanted to squish him because his personality and love is so big. I also loved how Elle wrote the wolves. Each wolf has its own thoughts, feelings and personalities as almost as an alternate personality was just fun and something that I hadn't seen before, so I loved that. I also enjoyed that they all had their own names and that their personalities didn't necessarily match the human side.
The spice in this was delicious and even though it was slow burn, it was still absolutely wonderful because the pacing of the relationship development was slow enough that it built tension perfectly which made the spicy scenes that much better once we did get there. The only thing that I did find would occasionally push me out of the narrative, was the amount that "Manhood" and "Womanhood" was used, but honestly this is just a personal thing, and a very small thing that I found irksome for me. From my understanding, this is Elle's debut novel (please correct me if I'm wrong) and writing is just like every other thing that one does, you learn and evolve as a writer as you go. I know that there's a lot of vocalisations about what terms and words do people not like to read in spicy scenes, I would gladly read Manhood and Womanhood in every single spicy scene I read for the rest of my life if the stories that they're in were this well written and engaging. Other than that, I loved everything.
All in all, this was an absolutely stunning debut novel (again, correct me if I'm wrong) and I am keen as to continue to follow Elle as she continues on her author journey. This was such a page turner for me, with rich story development, deep characters who are wonderfully flawed (you all know how much I love a flawed character) and a story that dealt with relatively heavy topics yet did so in a way that the story didn't feel dark or heavy. This was a pleasant surprise and one that I just knew I was going to love. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book in this series and cannot wait to see what Elle does next!
What I liked about this book is that Clem gets closer and closer to Liam, who represents the chosen Alpha. He is his protector of him and I can't tell you how he continues but.... 🥹 😍 🥹 😍 ... This story is a slow burn romance and for this a thousand points. While reading you get lost in the writing and you don't notice the length of the book. I really liked the world building for example of the werewolves: First of all how the animal world and the human part are fused. Another thing you will love is the humor throughout the book Plus he has a sense of humor, in fact many things Clem said made me laugh, in fact a book must make you feel good in everyone you feel. If you love werewolf novels like me, you need to read this. You will not regret it. Rating 4.5 ⭐
I loved Clem. I like the fact that she is plus sized. I feel bad for all the stuff she is going through. There is is some twists and turns in this book that makes that much more enjoyable. Good read.
Ok so first off- this is NOT your average shifter story of boy meets girl, claims her and bang sha bang. This is more … eloquent and well planned. Like a whole movie happened in my head and I love the connections I have with these pack members!!!
I never knew was needed for a shifter.
Clementine and her brother were raised away from the pack as humans, but things got really concerning when Vinny became aggressive and needed to be near the pack. Because hybrids AKA half breeds exist and these two kiddos are exactly that. And surprise but there is a thing about blood hate so these kiddos are not safe.
Clementine has been written so well that she is impossible not to connect with! From the fatphobia to hating herself and feeling like she’s never good enough. Clementine may as well have walked off the pages and been my twin! And I completely understand her feelings about being used and abused by men and how this leads her to believe she’s not good enough.
Liam and his “hardly working playboy” nature quits as soon as he realizes what Clementine is to him. He is the Golden boy and of course every she wolf wants to be his Luna. But Liam realizes who and what Clementine is!! (Of course this happens after a very long sequence of events that just keeps tossing them together in sometimes awkward situations.)
There are a LOT of secrets and betrayals and I don’t mean just from the other she wolves. Betraying oneself, being betrayed and lied to by your own parents? It is a LOT to handle. And so much happens that is orchestrated perfectly!!!
Although I have read a few shifter books and none of the shifters seem to recognize the true mate or mating bond…. Isn’t there a “bible” of wolfy shifter secrets somewhere??? I need a sequel of this book immediately.
I don’t normally read a lot of wolf-shifting books, but this one was available on the last Stuff Your Kindle Day and had great ratings, so I downloaded it. I didn’t read the blurb; I just dove in to see if it would keep my attention… and boy did it! Over 550 pages and it felt like half that. Truly a quick read because you will keep turning the page to find out what happens next.
Enlightened by the Eclipse is a captivating character-driven story about a girl who is half-human/half-wolf but grew up as a human unaware of her half-wolf blood. Her journey is fascinating, and she is likable and relatable. I was rooting for her the whole time. This book is filled with wolf shifters, alpha/betas, self-reflection, overcoming trauma and grief, witty banter, strong family units, fated mates, and the sweetest slow-burn romance with some spice.
I loved Clem and Liam’s characters. I enjoyed getting to know their wolves as well and the mind-speak. They were just the cutest and I loved how their characters grew throughout the book. Their romance was well down and felt natural. The ending was so sweet. Definitely a HEA!
If you like the werewolf romance genre then definitely check this book out!
Clementine & Liam A lot of things changed in Clementine's life, such as her mother's death, dropping out of Uni, moving to a new town, meeting new people who are extremely beautiful, and the cherry on top, her father is a werewolf, making her a half-breed. Clem struggles with her new reality and the weird things happening around her as not only one but more people threaten her lifeline. But Clem grows closer to Liam, the Alpha elect. He is her protector and as the story goes on her other half. This story is an agonizingly slow burn. It took the guy (Liam) half of the book to find out that he wants Clem to try and conquer her, and the book is huge... I mean for my standards! I really liked the werewolf world structure: The merging human-animal part, the fact that humans can mark their mates, the character growth, and the way Clem transformed into a wolf. Plus that it has a sense of humor that made me laugh - especially Clem's comments. I recommend it to any werewolf romance reader.
I had a hard time getting into this book at first. It was hard for me to believe a 15 year old would act the way Clem's brother was, and just the attitude of the book in general. I don't know when it finally started working for me, but I came around eventually.
I'm a sucker for fated mates, and this was an interesting take on it, as well as the Werewolves. The romance was sweet. Liam turned out to be a real decent guy, and I love him for Clementine.
Clementine started off real timid, and I felt for her when her family had a wolf and she didn't. I'm glad her character toughened up.
There is a ton of drama in Enlightened By The Eclipse, a ton. It seemed to come in wave after wave.
There is a fair amount of spice/steamy scenes. It's hard to gloss over if it isn't your thing. There is talk of sharing as well, which was off putting for me, but if that's your thing it is squeezed in there.
Three point five rounded up to four.

Clementine, she dropped out of med school after the death of her mother. Her dad decides to make the move back to his home town with Clementine and her younger brother in tow. She has always been a bit of a loner so the move didn’t sit right at first. She discovers the town hates her guts and at first she doesn’t know why. She meets, Liam, who for some odd reason is nice. Then she finds out she’s a half breed (part wolf, part human genes).
Liam, a beefy/playboy wolf can’t seem to figure out his fascination with the new half breed in town. With the town on edge he feels this pull to protect the half breed at all costs.
I throughly enjoyed Clementine and Liam’s story. The interconnected worlds never got confusing and it kept me intrigued. The MMC and FMC were put through the wringer of emotions. There were plenty wtf moments to keep you engaged. I definitely enjoyed the wolf pack as well. So many side characters who I loved and loathed.
When your hearts been broken into a million pieces it’s hard to pick it up again.
The alpha befriends you even though you are a half breed with no wolf, suspicious or no? When it comes to Liam I trust it. He has a kind heart for his pack even if he can be deliciously possessive and protective. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. It was well thought out with different twists and takes in the genre. The bond that grew between Clementine and Liam was beautiful to watch. I loved how the relationship felt not only honest but realistic in what you might face with a significant other. The way Anna Elle tackled the topic of blood hate was genius. It didn’t feel forced or like a gimmick. It was an honest hard look at what prejudice looks like in all its capacities and influences. The world that was crafted felt real and familiar. Her dad was a wonderful side character that I adored and was drawn to. All of the characters were well developed and had purpose within the story. It was a fun read which left me wanting a friend like Clementine and Liam. If you like the werewolf romance genre this will not disappoint.
I’m so in love with Clem and Liam! I love the Clem is plus sized and while she struggles a bit with it she also embraces it. She is so kind and sweet and selfless. Everything that she has been through breaks my heart but this woman has true strength and true beauty and Liam is instantly drawn to her and while the first part of him meeting Clem and still having his playboy ways annoyed me because side he was already feeling things he didn’t actually understand what was happening so I can tell you the moment the switch flipped he was fantastic don’t get me wrong there was still some ups and downs and the grovel was everything I needed. I loved how Liam stuck up for Clem this man was all in and went straight into protection mode from the moment Clem was threatened. This book was filled with twists and turns and definitely kept me engaged and sitting on pins and needles wanting to know what was going to happen next!
Clementine decides to move with her dad & younger brother to her dad's hometown in the middle of nowhere British Columbia. Clementine has never fit in, and it doesn't seem like the people in Blackfern Valley like her either. Until she meets Liam. Liam is the Alpha's oldest son, and a playboy. When he meets Clementine, his wolf senses something in her. Liam becomes Clem's friend, and keeps an eye on her. When Clementine finds out that the town is full of werewolves, and she & her brother are half breeds things start to make sense to her. Clem & Liam grow closer, and this angers a lot of people in town. When Clem is in danger Liam will do everything he can to save her. This book is full of so many twists & turns, it had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens next. I am looking forward to the rest of the series.
My god the way I devoured this book!!! The story seriously sucked me in from the beginning. There is so much happening and it's so intriguing, I just kept on reading. I couldn't stop! Clementine and Liam!!! They were adorable, they were cute, they were fun! The banter, the chemistry!!!!! I ate it up. I wondered how old Liam was. It wasn't mentioned, except that he was a bit older. I mean they were really young for all of this to happen to them. A bunch of twenty year olds... And all the things that happened to Clementine in the past were honestly horrible. She was definitely a strong person. Patrick was such a fun father. The dynamic between him and Clem was so funny. I kept laughing. I liked Liam's parents too. I loved how supportive they were.
This was one lengthy book. I’m actually happy I got a head start on reading the book to make sure I understand it all. The only downside is, I felt like it was super slow. I wanted the good part to start and I wanted the love. Once i got there, I was like “Okay! We are getting somewhere!” Not that it’s bad, it was great. I mean who doesn’t love a story full of amazing werewolf.
There were some scenes that made the story a lot better! Without saying anything, that way it won’t give it away as it may not be appropriate for some.
I enjoyed the story and the growth within the characters, especially Clementine’s. For the way she started off the story to the ending, I saw her more mature.
Well, it's official. Clem or Clemmy as a nickname for Clementine does not jive with my brain. Otherwise, Clementine was a girl who took a lot of stuff in stride and came out on top! Liam was a good partner for her, despite them both fighting the mate bond to some degree. I liked their push and pull dynamic, and Clementine never let him belittle or degrade her. Consent is big here, despite wolves not really adhering to things like that. Clementine never lost her sense of self: Bravo, girl! She made Liam work for it. But their spice was spicing after that epic slow burn! Whose story is next from this world? I'm ready.
The world building was so good!! I flew through the pages of this book, I think everyone should do the same! This slow burn, debut novel by Anna Elle made me not regret for one second picking it up! The FMC is my kind of “take nothing” woman, Clem was just so strong willed and powerful. Her and MMC, Liam went through it for about half the book, Clem wasn't the only thick part about this book. 😍 The spicy was definitely on the heat scale. I recommend lots of water. I know one thing I will be back again!
An amazing story full of love and hate, acceptance and bigotry, hope and despair. A hero soon to be alpha, a halfbreed girl with or without a wolf! A pack that rejected, hated, bullied, and repeatedly tried to kill her, jealous she wolves and a Solent danger stalking them! A true mate bond, a psychic ex, and a betrayal that would threaten to destroy their lives and love! Does she have a wolf? Will the pack accept her? Can she be Alina? Will they survive? Read and see!
This is such a gorgeous book. The story is instantly grabbing and I loved the fact that the FMC is not skinny and small. She's a average woman and I love it! The dynamic between the MMC and FMC is just delicious and I couldn't get enough. The writing is absorbing and I really felt the story. I don't cry much with books but this one even brought a tear to my eye. For a debut novel Anna has done an amazing job and I'm sure we will see her in the future as a big player
This story is a great introduction for anyone new to paranormal/shifter romance! Clementine's story was emotional and I loved her snarky demeanor. The way she handle all the twists and turns throughout the story, not least of which was the existences of werewolves, was all very relatable. Her relationship with Liam was very well paced and I enjoyed all the angst as they both tried to figure out how to be together when the odds seemed against them. There were several emotional moments in the story and I was caught off guard by how emotionally invested I had become in the characters 😭😱😡 This story sets up the start of the series and I am looking forward to seeing what happens next with the Blackfern Valley pack!
Thank you so much to Anna Elle and Unalive Promotions for sharing this story with me! All opinions are my own.
Took me a bit to get into it but once there I was hooked . Love clem love how she starts to stand up for her self. Being a plus size girl was like the icing on the cake At first I did not like the soon the alpha I thought he was going to hurt her but he falls in love with her It was a really good read
I had an absolute fun time reading this book. The FMC and MMC are easy to fall in love with, they now live rent free in my head. I love how the wolves had there own personality which brought a comedic banter to the book making it an easy 5 star read.
Loved this book! The intrigue drew me in, but the banter and chemistry between Liam and Clem kept me reading! A great take on the werewolf genre - dive in!
ahh Clem! i loved this book and was so sad that it ended. I was fully invested and loved every bit of the mystery and angst. I loved that Clem is plus sized and unqique. such a cute book!! I am invested and cant wait for book two!
Absolutely loved this book and will definitely be one I reread. It kept me guessing and loved the way it turned out. I look forward to the next instalment in the series.
⭐️ARC review⭐️ I loved this book the first time I read it and it still holds true. Loved rereading and noticing things I didn’t the first time.
Clem and Liam take me on a rollercoaster of emotions every time. I look forward to reading the next instalment in the series.
Who doesn't love a good slow burn? Liam and Clem are so good together, and I enjoyed watching them navigate the challenges they faced. Liam falls first, and boy, does he fall harder. The story has some twists on the traditional werewolf mates trope that I LOVE! The author made me hate, love, laugh, and be sad for the characters. I can't wait to read more!
I enjoyed this book! The relationship of Liam and Clem was great, the ups and downs!! There was some drama and mystery to keep you on your toes and interested to see what is coming next! I recommend reading this book!!
