What keeps you from falling apart? A rock-solid support system, a favourite pet, or devouring the flesh of those unlucky enough to cross your path? If the taste of brains is what keeps you going, then this book is for you.
Zombies come in all different forms, and each of these stories presents the undead and dying in a different way, whether they're the main character or not. Some of these walking corpses are freshly risen from the grave and hungry for vengeance (among other things). Others are coming to terms with what it means to live in a post-apocalyptic hellscape.
This fourth collection from former zombie hater Stephanie Anne promises trauma, drama, and miscellaneous body parts. Can you keep it together as you make your way through these stories?
I’m an oddball extraordinaire, and I love all things strange and monstrous. Specializing in disturbing and domestic horror, I enjoy making people uncomfortable.
My stories may not be scary in the “jumpscare” sense, but after reading one of my books you’ll never look at certain every-day things the same way again. If you like unsettling tales of torment and trauma, you're in for a treat.
My writing assistants are Minerva, Finn, Bubs, and Janey. Unfortunately, these free-spirited felines like to sleep on the job. That is, when they aren’t stepping on my keyboard and adding extra words to my books.
I really enjoyed this take on the classic zombie tale. I especially liked the first story that has the author asking us what really qualifies as a zombie. This got my hamster wheel going. So once you carry on and read the authors tales you can clearly see that not all zombies are created equal. This author has the ability to think outside the box. I’m looking forward to reading more of her work.
3,5 stars, I know some of the stories weren’t supposed to be finished with a clear ending, but I really didn’t like how some of them ended. It is a really original book though, which is very impressive considering it’s about zombies (they always have the same kind of stories). I love the cover as well!
Some really great short stories in here - Cold cuts and cigarettes was my favourite (soo impactful I felt like I was there). So glad to have met Stephanie at an art market today because this was right up my alley!
