I recently had the honor of joining Samantha Christy’s ARC team, and I’m so excited about that. I love Samantha’s writing and I’ve read several of her series. So when I received a Christmas themed novella, based on the sister from the McQuaid Brothers series I was so excited and started reading as soon as I could.
In ‘Love by Design’ we read the story of Holland McQuaid, who we got to know a little bit in the McQuaid Brothers series. Holland is working for a prestigious designer when her own work gets the publicity most only dream about. When Holland is in need of a date for an upcoming ball. Her boss sets her up with a blind date. You can imagine Holland’s surprise when Stryker Taylor, a Baseball star, is waiting for her.
From the moment Holland and Stryker meet, there is this intense connection between them. But Holland has never wanted a guy for longer than a night. She is all about work and making her designs. Stryker changes everything though. He is determined to make Holland work less, and enjoy Christmas more.
‘Love By Design’ was such a sweet, sexy Christmas novella. It was short and I easily read it in little over an hour. I found myself hooked to these pages and I definitely got Christmas vibes. The one problem with this read.. it was just way to short! I could have easily read a whole book about these two characters. Their chemistry was amazing and I loved how easily they connected and wanted to spend time together.
Ever since reading the McQuaid Brothers series I’ve been wanting to read Holland’s story. So this was the perfect Christmas present by Samantha Christy. And if you haven’t read the series yet, this short novella will still be pretty amazing. Trust me!

It was so wonderful to see some of our beloved characters from previous books. It took me a HOT minute until I put all the connections together to find out who the MMC was! I was really ecstatic when the author surprised released a novella about Holland. We know Holland from the McQuaid series, and I loved seeing her get her happy ending! Holland has never been a fan of Christmas, so *insert MMC name*😏 takes it as a personal task to get her in the holiday spirit!😍

Such a cute novella! It’s the perfect Christmas Insta-love story! Stryker is definitely swoon king!
Holland is the Queen of work and is battling her way to the top. When her chance comes she is instructed to go to an event with an escort who will forever change Christmas and her life. Stryker agrees to escort Holland to make an ex jealous but Holland was the girl he never saw coming and he wants to show her what she is missing. Will his love of Christmas and life help Holland see that having what all her siblings have might even be possible for her?

This is just what I needed for the holidays!! I loved this short, sweet, and steamy novella that has my heart so full and happy.
As a super fan of Samantha Christy, I feel like I have been waiting for this story forever!!
This is Holland McQuiad's story, and you will adore her and the man she goes on a blind date with! Holland is the sweetest, and I loved her through the series that was her brother's stories. So I was excited when she got her own little story.
But her man.... be still my heart!! I swear, I swooned just hearing his name...
If you have read Samantha before, you will love the cameos she always gives! This has me wanting to go back and read all her books again!

Love By Design is an addictive holiday novella starring Holland McQuaid and Stryker Taylor.
If you've read Samantha's The Brothers of Calloway Creek: The McQuaid series you would have met Holland before and if you've read Benching Brady you would have met Stryker too although he's all grown up now!
Holland McQuaid is taking the fashion world by storm, she's just been given a huge promotion and her own collection Bellasandre Bridal by Holland McQuaid and with this opportunity comes a few strings including showing up to every party or event with a handsome man on her arm. Which is how Holland meets Stryker, Stryker is the lucky guy who gets to escort Holland to the holiday ball! Straight away sparks are flying but Holland doesn't do relationships, her job is everything to her, she doesn't have time for a man but she can't deny the attraction bubbling between them. By the end of the night the chemistry between them becomes too hard to ignore so they agree to one night, one spectacular night and then they'll go their separate ways.
But of course they cannot get each other out of their heads, the night they spent together is on repeat but Holland is standing firm on her stand on relationships, they're not for her and she doesn't have the time.
But when Stryker finds out that Holland doesn't like Christmas, he makes it his mission to show her the magic of Christmas and becomes her Christmas Elf!

I absolutely LOVED Love By Design, I could not put it down and I devoured it in one sitting! I have been not so patiently waiting for Holland's story and it truly did not disappoint, it was incredible! I believe this is Samantha's first novella and I really hope it's not her last! I would love a couple of novellas revisiting characters from her previous books. I also loved getting to revisit Brady and Rylee (from Benching Brady) it just made this novella even more enjoyable for me!

Oh my goodness!! This is the holiday novella I didn’t know I needed! This is the perfect read to get your Christmas spirit flowing.
I love Holland McQuaid finally getting her turn, and bringing Stryker Taylor in for his HEA makes it extra special. These two seem to be absolutely perfect for each other!
Holland has been a staple in the McQuaid brothers series, & though she loves seeing her brothers fall in love…it’s just not for her. She’s career driven & only has time for one-night stands. Oh, and holidays…the pomp & circumstance is just something to take away from a productive day at work.
Stryker Taylor is ultra swoony & just might be the hottest guy Holland has seen. You might remember him from long ago when his physical therapist mom fell in love with her client, Brady Taylor. Now New York’s star baseball player, he lives to play baseball. But in his off season, he’s a regular ole holiday fiend.
When Holland makes an epic mistake that turns her career on its head in the best way possible, she is required to have a date to an epic event. And who shows as her blind date, none other than the oh so desirable, Stryker. The immediate chemistry between these two is so palpable, the entire crowd in attendance can feel it. And when their chemistry is allowed the moment to ignite, it’s a level of spice that can become addictive.

I was selected to be a part of Samantha's ARC team again for this book and when I tell you I squealed when this email dropped in my inbox... I've been a fan of Samantha Christy since I read "Catching Caden" and fell in love with those men. I then got to read her newest as an ARC and then went back and read both brothers series and I fell in love with Holland!
It was so refreshing to read about a strong, independent female MC that could care two sh!ts about things that weren't important to her because she was that confident with herself. She had money, but she CHOSE to work her way up in the fashion world based on her talent, not her name. Her job reminded me of "The Devil Wears Prada" and I loved that movie, so when I saw Holland get the break she deserved, I cheered for her!
We meet Stryker (son of Brady from Benching Brady- which I LOVE how she keeps interconnecting these characters!), when he's picked by her boss as her escort for the night. Holland has NO CLUE who he is and he is instantly drawn to her because she's so refreshing, unlike the typical baseball groupies.
Their chemistry is OFF THE CHARTS and "miss one night stand" is starting to change her tune towards relationships, despite how much she is fighting it. He's one of those, "he falls first and HARD" men and ohhh is he sweet!
It's a short novella but it'll definitely have you craving MORE and I hope we get so much more of these two soon!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Fabulous little offering
It doesn’t seem to matter what Samantha Christy writes, I absolutely love it. I’ve read all her series and each one steals my heart every time.

But it’s not an easy task and it means a lot of hard work and countless hours of dedication to her chosen career.
She’s so dedicated though, the all the work is making her life outside a little dull. With the holidays approaching she’s not exactly full of the Christmas spirit. Until she gets set up by her boss with baseball superstar, Stryker Taylor (yep, son of Brady Taylor from one of the previous series). He appoints himself her very own Christmas elf and enlightens her on just how magical the holidays can be.
It’s a short but incredibly sweet little story that makes you feel all warm and gooey inside. Both Holland and Stryker are adorable and even though their romance is a tornado in the whirlwind scale of things, it’s a lovely tale of the heart knowing what it wants even when it doesn’t know it needed anything.

This book was just perfect, you will fall in love with Holland and her mystery date!

Bring in the sexy Stryker Taylor (Rylee and Brady's son) and from the off they are just perfect for each other!
Holland's brothers are all married or getting married with children in McQuaid brothers series, and she loves seeing her brothers in love, but she does not think love is for her, there is something missing in her makeup!
She’s career driven and only has time for one-night stands which she knows makes her a little slutty. She does not have time for fun, only working to impress Katarina Bellasandre.

This is the perfect book to read to get ready for Christmas. Holland doesn't have time for the holidays and her job as an up and coming designer takes priority over everything in her life. Everything changes when she is forced to go on a blind date to a work function. Stryker can't believe his luck when his date has no idea he is the star pitcher on the Nighthawks. They know before they even arrive at the party they will be rocking eachother's worlds. Holland thinks it will be a one time thing but she underestimated Stryker and he is determined to show her what Christmas can be like if you let yourself enjoy it.
I adore all of Samantha Christy's books and was thrilled to see 2 of her characters come together for a magical novella. There is the perfect blend of spice and heart and I couldn't put it down!

Holland grew up wealthy and has been working her butt off the last several years in the design world. She works for a tyrant but the experience is priceless. She thinks her job is at an end when called into the boss’s office however she gets the surprise of a lifetime, she will partner with the boss for her own wedding gown collection. But things are different when you are an executive. You must play the part and dress the part so when the invitations start rolling in, her boss insists she must have a man by her side, and sets her up with a friend.
When the limo pulls up, the most gorgeous man is waiting. Holland, who hated the idea is now having a change of heart. Stryker, a pro baseball player, is intrigued by this girl who has no idea who he is. The more time the two of them spend together, the more smitten he becomes.
Such a great, cute, short story for the Holidays. Love how the two workaholics, who don’t want a relationship, finally find the right person and everything just clicks into place for them. Great fun read.

Holland falls!
Throughout the McQuaid Brothers series we saw glimpses of sister Holland. Just like her brothers, Holland doesn’t date. Her father’s treatment of her mom turning her off but as her mom points out she and her brothers found love. Holland just wants to succeed as a fashion designer as she now works for the infamous Katerina Bellasandre.
Katarina insists she has a date for an event and sets her up with Stryker, a famous baseball player. He falls hard first. She does a lot of first with him and realizes she may be falling too. She works hard and doesn’t think she can have both. Can he convince her.
Stryker was a perfect book boyfriend, a golden retriever alpha and Holland was strong and hardworking and needed someone to open her heart and try. Add in the Christmas season it was a perfect novella that had an excellent impact in the short story. I read it in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down.

When Holland’s demanding boss arranges a blind date for her to an event, she never expects to find such a delightful companion as Stryker. These two immediately forge a connection and had a sizzling chemistry that cannot be denied.
I absolutely loved these two together. Their chemistry was unmatched and the relationship they built was on a strong foundation of friendship and family and understanding. Their whirlwind romance was just what I needed right now. I loved catching up with old friends and watching these two workaholics fall for each other.

I didn’t realize how much I needed this story until I read it. It was a fun read and will get you ready for the Holidays! I was pleasantly surprised with the characters from this story. A blast from the past is ready for his HEA. Holland McQuaid, who we saw in previous books, is more focused on her job than finding love. So when her boss sets her up on a blind date for an event, she can’t even believe the connection that they have. Stryker Taylor, my goodness is he absolutely perfect! I loved seeing characters back from the baseball series. Stryker also feels the connection he has with Holland and he isn’t willing to let this be a one time thing. The things he did for Holland were so sweet and clearly very irresistible. Stryker was determined to change Holland’s bah-humbug attitude and get her to enjoy the holidays.

Stryker is the son of Brady Taylor (Benching Brady) and Rylee. He followed in his dad’s footsteps and became a GREAT pitcher. He is such a sweet soul and is Oh-So romantic. He is supposed to come off as a playboy though he is anything but.
Holland McQuaid, the youngest of the McQuaid clan and the last to find her better half. She states to be better off without men and that nobody will be supportive enough to understand her busy work schedule… *ENTER STRYKER*
I recommend this Novella to anyone who likes the following Tropes:

Love By Design is a perfectly binge-able holiday novella, giving Holland McQuaid an epic love story of her own all tied up with a pretty red bow. (I haven't read Benching Brady, but Stryker is the son of the couple from that book, so I'm sure longtime Samantha Christy fans will love that connection.)
We've gotten to know Holland as the sister of the McQuaid brothers. She is married to her job, working for a high-end designer, and she kind of hates the holidays. Her boss sets her up on a blind date for a Christmas party, and there is an instant connection between Holland and sexy baseball player Stryker. The party ends with a hot and steamy one-night-stand — and leaves the woman who never wants more than a one-night-stand suddenly wanting exactly that.

Love by Design has so many of my favorite things. Christmas. A strong, feisty FMC. A sexy, cinnamon roll MMC. He falls first. Next generation. Spice. I’m thankful to have received an ARC so I could kick off my holiday season with this story.
Stryker and Holland are an amazing match. I loved their banter and spice; from their first meeting their back and forth was so fun and made me want to read more. The pace of the novella was perfect, though I would have happily read another 200 pages of these two falling in love.
I looooved seeing Stryker Taylor fall head over heels, just like his parents in Benching Brady. Even more, I love that he fell first and so hard. Stryker learns that Holland isn’t a fan of Christmas, and so he becomes her Christmas Elf. This novella is sweet and steamy—plus sass and spice.

Holland’s career has taken off in a way she didn’t expect. Her career is everything to her, she doesn’t really date. However, she needs a date for an event and thanks to her boss she has a blind date with a star athlete, Stryker. There is chemistry the moment these two meet and they both understand each other in a way that many wouldn’t.
I love the friendship that these two form. I love the sweet little things Stryker does to get Holland into the holiday spirit. These two both fall hard and fast for each other and I truly didn’t want their story to end. I love seeing the other McQuaids again, too.

“No. This one is perfect. Everything is.” He kisses my temple, squeezes me, and focuses on the TV. Me—I try to make heads or tails of the fact that I’m fairly sure I’m living in a Hallmark Christmas movie. Another fact: in the last twenty seconds, I think I just fell in love.
Oh my goodness!! Samantha I was sooo pumped when this hit my kindle!! I was dying to read Holland’s story and I’m so glad we finally got it! I was so sad to be leaving this series and you made me so happy! And the MMC, I legit squealed!! I was sooo excited he got a book as well!! Holland’s career takes off faster than she expected and because of that was given a promotion and made partner at her company. Needing a date for an event her boss was hosting, she was set up with a blind date.
Stryker couldn’t believe he met someone that had no idea who he was or how much money he had. He really just enjoyed Holland’s company!
Holland and Stryker find themselves doing so much together that she doesn’t realize that she is beginning to enjoy the festive holidays!

I have loved all the Calloway Creek stories and am so glad to finally read Holland's journey. We have met her many times throughout her brothers and friends stories so it was good to see her finally find her own path. Wandering through her passion for the fashion world, seemingly on a path to nowhere, she finally has a foot in. Her boss is a tyrant but is forced to see Holland has talent. When said boss forces her into a date for a fashion Gala, Holland sees that maybe there might be more than one night stands in her future.
This story is great to curl up with on a cold night. We finally meet Holland properly, characters from previous series wander through and it's the perfect feel good book to round off the series.
