“What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
The entirety of the Christian faith hinges on this question: Is Jesus really God?
In 100 Proofs That Jesus Is God, Dr. Curt Daniel presents an undeniable avalanche of biblical evidence for the deity of Christ. From specific texts, to the names of Christ, to biblical themes, this little book proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Bible proclaims that Jesus is God.
Read 100 Proofs That Jesus is God to be emboldened to proclaim this glorious truth to unbelievers and skeptics.
Are you looking for a book that summarizes the many biblical case for Jesus is God? This book does it, presenting to readers one hundred proofs that Jesus is God and the book does it in 144 pages. I am glad the publisher Reformation Heritage Books published this work. The first eleven proofs are instances in Scripture where Jesus is explicitly called God. The next four is what Jesus says about Himself follow by one concerning Jesus knowing what the Jews understood of His claim to be God. Proof seventeen to twenty-nine concerns with specific claims of who Jesus is and what He has while thirty to thirty-seven are divine attributes Jesus possesses. From thirty-eight through forty-three the author presents proofs that are titled “Jesus I the God of…”. From proof forty-four onwards it gets more eclectic though one still discern topical groupings from time to time such as sixty through sixty-four concerns with Jesus being worship and sixty-six to sixty-eight concerns Jesus as Judge. In the foreword the author Curt Daniel explains four reasons why this book is helpful: It is concise, it is manifold concerning the amount of proofs, it is biblical and it is rich theologically. I think a review of the book would have to agree with the author that the aim and purpose is accomplished in this work. There were many things I was reminded of concerning the case for Jesus’ deity and there were also good details that further strengthen my argument for the deity of Jesus. Do not judge this book by its size: there were times the book surprised me with its rigor such as in chapter four on Jesus being explicitly called God in 1 Timothy 3:16 where the author talked about different Greek manuscripts. There are awareness of the New Testament use of the Old Testament throughout the book which is a fascinating academic topic in of itself and when applied to the topic of the divinity of Christ it makes many New Testament passages come alive in regards to seeing verses demonstrate that Christ is God. I recommend this book.
Some really strong arguments, some sort of weak ones, but as the introduction says, the author is going for the 'avalanche' approach. You can squirrel out of some of the weak ones-- maybe you can make some long, intricate defenses of some of the strong ones-- but you're not allowed, as a person who theoretically believes in the Bible, to just shrug off all of these arguments. Jesus is worshipped as God in the New Testament, and that means, if the Bible in fact the authoritative rule for life and godliness, you should also worship him as God. Orthodox readers, get a copy and read it as a devotional, then keep it to give it away to heterodox people who knock on your door. Heterodox people-- you know who you are, you're the ones who get a little adrenaline jolt from being called heterodox-- read it and pray a whole lot. Today, if you will hear his voice, harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and the day of temptation in the wilderness.
