His suspect holds a secret, but can he uncover the truth before she steals his heart?
When Katherine Jenkins is rescued from the side of the road, half-frozen and left for dead, her only option is to stay silent about her identity or risk being shipped back to her ruthless guardian, who will kill to get his hands on her inheritance and the famous Jenkins Lipizzaner horses. But even under the pretense of amnesia, she cannot shake the memory of her sister and Katherine’s need to reach her before their guardian, or his marauding bandits, finish her off. Will she be safe in the earl’s manor, or will the assailant climbing through her window be the death of her?
British spy, Stephen Hartington’s assignment to uncover an underground horse-thieving ring brings him home to his family’s manor, and the last thing he expected was to be struck with a candlestick upon climbing through the guest chamber window. The manor’s feisty and intriguing new house guest throws Stephen’s best-laid plans into turmoil and raises questions about the timing of her appearance, the convenience of her memory loss, and her impeccable riding skills. Could he be housing the horse thief he’d been ordered to capture—or worse, falling in love with her?

An entertaining historical romance with a suspenseful twist!
Stephen and Katherine were both well-developed characters who had backstories that added to the book. I wasn't a fan of Stephen romancing Katherine while he was nearly engaged to someone else. But he did realize that he'd hurt both Katherine and the other lady.
The plot moved along at a good pace and contained some twists and turns, especially near the end. I didn't completely buy the biggest twist, but it worked for the plot. Even though the plot wrapped up nicely, there was still intrigue left over for the second book in the series.
I liked Lorri Dudley's clear writing style, and I appreciated that she kept both the romance and language clean. I also enjoyed the Christian themes.
Overall, Revealing the Truth was an interesting read that I'd recommend to those who love Christian fiction and historical romances that contain a bit of suspense.
If I had to describe this book in one word, it would be “outstanding”. This first story in author Lorri Dudley’s new Agents of Espionage series captured my attention from the beginning and had me considering not pausing for sleep. The storyline was gripping as heroine Katherine Jenkins found herself in many dangerous situations, including an attack that ultimately led her to the care of a kind and compassionate family which included the hero, Stephen Hartington. Although the lovely romance between the two developed quickly, it was very swoony and felt believable given the time frame of all the unfolding events. While I haven’t read too many books with an amnesia trope, I felt the author did a great job with how realistically it was portrayed. SInce this is a work of Christian fiction, I loved how elements of faith were applied naturally, including prayer, lessons on learning to trust God, and applicable Bible verses. This book was the complete package for me in what I love about inspirational historical romance: great plot, tender-hearted romance and messages of faith. Can’t wait for the next book in the series!
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher and BookFunnel via Celebrate Lit. A positive review was not required and these are my honest opinions.
Brace yourself for a wild, seat-of-your pants read. You will find yourself either weeping or cheering for Lady Katharine Jenkins , Countess of Dysart. Lorri Dudley writes very descriptive scenes and realistic characters. The scenes become so vivid in your minds eye you feel you are watching a dramatization of the book. If you like historical fiction you should pre-order this book and add it to your library. I am eagerly awaiting the release of book #2 in this series.
As with all Lorri Dudley’s books, this one ends and makes you eager for her next one. What to say but it’s everything you could want in a fulfilling read: a nicely evolving & engaging plot, well developed characters, humor, & heart fluttering romance. Most importantly, though, are the spiritual life lessons she infuses about faith in God & trusting Him through challenging, uncertain, & sometimes confusing times. “Revealing the Truth” will have you step into life in the England of the 1800s when Counts & Countesses, Lords & Ladies, & the expectations of that society will keep you entertained. It will enlighten you to the workings of espionage in England’s Home Office. But best of all you will enjoy getting to know Katherine & Stephen as their love story is played out through so many interesting and endearing twists in the plot. Pre-order your copy today…you won’t be disappointed & I’m sure you’ll find that you won’t be able to put the book down till the last page is turned!
It’s no secret to anyone who follows my reviews that I love Lorri Dudley’s Leeward Islands series of swoony (with a capital S) romances set in the Caribbean during the Regency era. I was sad to say goodbye to that world, but I was giddy to hear about a new series. And I’m happy to report that Revealing the Truth is full of all the things I already love about Dudley’s books plus even more suspense and intrigue. In short: my initial giddiness was not misplaced.
I immediately liked Katherine Jenkins – her quiet strength, her courage, and her resourcefulness – and was immediately anxious for her in light of her guardian’s imminent, dastardly plans. This roller coaster of emotions continues through her harrowing escape and serendipitous rescue… and then oh be still my heart the swooning starts in earnest from the moment Stephen and Katherine meet. Their chemistry is instantly off the charts, and I hardly dared to breathe whenever they shared a scene. With Katherine still in hiding (not knowing who she can trust) and Stephen on a secret mission for the Crown, the complications resulting from their tangible – and mutual – attraction make the sparks between them even more delicious, in my opinion. And sparks there are a’plenty!
I didn’t just love the two protagonists and their swoonilicious romance (though that WAS pretty delightful). I also very much enjoyed the supporting cast, particularly Stephen’s parents and his sister Abby, and the roles they played in this story. Their steady presence for Katherine at a time when her life is in such turmoil is so heartwarming, and the wisdom they speak into her life (especially Stephen’s mother) allows the author to weave a beautiful faith message in a way that’s organic to the story. As a side note, I’m so glad that Abby’s story is next because I had some suspicions during Revealing the Truth and I can’t wait to find out if I am right. Considering how I didn’t see a certain twist coming in this book, though, it’s highly plausible that I’m going to be just as taken-by-surprise in book two.
Bottom Line: Revealing the Truth by Lorri Dudley includes everything I’ve come to expect from this author – relatable & layered characters, immersive settings, an entertaining plot, breath-stealing romantic chemistry, delightful banter, and a sweet message of faith that isn’t preachy or forced. The extra dash of suspense and intrigue is icing on the cake for readers, and it’s the perfect kick-off to a brand new series. So excited to spend more time with these characters in future books!
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
Fake memory loss, a conniving deadly relative, a horse thieving ring, and a handsome agent of the crown made Revealing the Truth hard to put down! I thoroughly enjoyed this fast-paced, slow build Regency romance. It’s my first book by Lorri Dudley and certainly won’t be my last. The characters and plot completely drew me in and I couldn’t wait to find out what happens next.
Katherine’s world is thrown upside down after the loss of her parents. She’s taken on the sole responsibility for running her family’s estate and caring for their prized horses. When her cousin arrives and tries to force her into an unwanted marriage, she flees but winds up in a carriage accident. When she’s rescued by a kind family, she’s not sure she can trust them. Pretending memory loss after the accident seems like the best option. When she starts to fall for the family’s eldest son, she has to decide how much of herself she can reveal so as not to endanger her sister who’s away at school, and the family she’s come to care for.
Stephen is a secret agent for the crown, currently on the trail of a horse thieving ring. When he meets the beautiful stranger his family has taken in, he can’t decide if he can trust her. Is she in league with the thieves? As he grows closer to the feisty Kate, he’s in danger of losing his heart. But, what of the woman he nearly proposed to back in London? Will he risk everything to fall for Kate?
I loved Kate and Stephen! Their banter and teasing were delightful. Both fight their feelings for different reasons, but the pull is undeniable. I enjoyed the way they grew to trust each other. I also enjoyed Stephen’s family, especially his twin sister Abby. I can’t wait for her story.
The mystery was intriguing with plenty of suspenseful situations. While I thought Kate’s feigning memory loss went on a little too long, it served as a great tool in ratcheting up the suspense and angst. The ending was quite a surprise and I’m still grappling with the twist. I also enjoyed how faith was gently woven throughout the story in a natural, believable way. The setting was fantastic, though Kate does things sticklers of Regency customs might frown on.
All in all, a compelling, romantic story inspirational historical romance fans will enjoy. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.
This book has everything a reader who loves historical fiction would want. I loved the setting and learning about horses. I do like horses but they are intimidating to me. Our leading lady Katherine is at home around horses. She is gentle with them and has no fear. I loved reading how she was able to calm even the most demanding horse.
What a shock it is for Katherine after her parents die, to discover that her cousin has decided to marry her and take over her inheritance. The only thing she can do is run away and try to get help before she loses everything her parents worked hard for. I don’t care much for amnesia stories but this one was worth reading. It has secrets, danger, spies and a very good faith thread which points readers to learning to trust Him.
Stephen is a bit suspicious of Katherine when she is brought to his family home. Being found on the side of the road near frozen to death and not knowing who she is makes him wonder if she can be trusted. I liked how he slowly starts to have feelings for her but puts his trust in God before making any decisions about her. Stephen has his hands full trying to catch horse thieves while also wanting to get to know Katherine better.
The author gives us a great adventure with twists in the story that made me wonder just who could be trusted. Some think Katherine could be part of the horse thief ring, but Stephen can’t believe she is that calculating that she would use him and his family in order to steal from them. There are tense moments when danger draws near and causes Katherine to decide if she needs to finally tell the truth of who she is.
The tension mounts when an unexpected person arrives to claim Katherine as his wife. What a surprise that is when Stephen was just about to give his heart to her. I loved how the author keeps us guessing as a plot develops to catch the thieves. I kept wondering if Katherine would finally surrender to God and allow Him to keep her safe. The ending is full of surprises and I’m happy to learn that there will be another book in this series.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
Lorri Dudley’s historical romance Revealing the Truth leaves me wishing I could just bask in the happiness that comes with reading such a well-written book. I loved it for the romance thread, and for the deceptions that made for great reader angst. The spy aspect added depth, as did the relationships that were either horrific or beauteous and life-giving. Dudley also outdoes herself with some twists that elevate the novel to a new level.
I wished the novel had itself included more about the Lipizzaner horses, but it did include a lot of horse riding, and some horse handling tips. I was interested enough to research the Lipizzaner horses to get a feel for why that breed was important to the novel.
I loved the way that the faith of Stephen, Abby, and his parents, influences Katherine. They are quick to pray when a need arises and urge others to do the same. They can encourage others to trust, because they, esp. Stephen’s mother, have learned how to trust God. However, it is Abby that explains her fear and how she overcame it. “I let fear have its way. Soon, it controlled me. You should have seen it. I would shake uncontrollably just being near a horse, which is dreadful when you live on a horse farm. It spilled over into other areas of my life too. I couldn’t ride in a carriage or go into town. My world shrunk as I became captive to fear.” “Courage is a habit...My faith grew one step at a time.”
If you like Christian romance, encouragement in your faith, spies of England in the 1800s, horses, or you just enjoy seeing good family relationships, I highly recommend Revealing the Truth!
I was given a complimentary copy of the book from the author through Celebrate Lit. I also bought my own ebook. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.

Christian Historical Romance has become one of my favorite Genres to read. Revealing the Truth by Lorri Dudley is Book 1 in the Agents of Espionage Series. I am excited about this new series from Lorri Dudley. I have been enjoying other books by Lorri and I am really intrigued by this new series!
The setting of the book is the 1800s in England. Katherine Jenkins is found on the side of the road, left for dead, after fleeing her Family's Home. When she is found she fakes amnesia so she is not sent back to her family. Katherine does not want to be forced into marriage and fears the attackers will "finish her off if she goes back." She is now in hiding at the Earl's Manor. British spy, Stephen Hartington, has a new assignment which is to track down a Horse Thief Ring. He comes home and is shocked when he is struck with a candle stick while climbing through the window at the Manor. Stephen was unaware that Katherine was in the room, but she sure made her presence known. Stephen has many questions as to who Katherine is and why she is there He quickly has his questions answered and begins to have feelings for Katherine and Katherine has feelings for him. Will Stephen complete his assignment and capture the horse thief's ring? Will there be a Romance between Stephen and Katherine?
WOW, I was hooked from the very first page. Katherine endured quite a bit in her lifetime, yet she is a very determined and strong woman. I thought her idea of faking Amnesia was a great idea to keep her safe. Stephen is a wonderful character in the book. He quickly gets over the shock of getting hit with the candlestick and forms a bond with Katherine. The Twists and Turn in this book kept me intrigued and I didn't put the book down until I was down reading! I am so excited to read this series as future books are released! I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Romance. WONDERFUL BOOK!!
This is my first book by Lorri Dudley and I really liked it! I plan on reading the rest of the books in this series as well. All in all it was an enjoyable read with a fairly fast-paced plot and well-developed characters. Stephen and Katherine were great main characters but I was also quite fond of some of the side characters like Abby and Mrs. Hartington.
Though I really enjoyed Revealing the Truth overall, there are a couple things that I wish had been a bit different in the book. First, even though I certainly appreciate and even look for a good faith thread in the stories I read, I felt it was a bit overdone in this particular novel. Almost every single character seemed to be a Christian, and that just wasn’t very realistic to me. Especially with Katherine’s character, I felt that the jump from having almost no faith background to a seemingly very mature faith in such a short period of time made her faith a bit unrealistic as well.
Secondly, I was a bit put off by the instance when Stephen resolved to marry Katherine even though she hadn’t yet revealed the truth about herself to him and he knew she was lying to his family. Yes, trust in someone requires faith, but not blind faith that chucks reasoning/common sense out the door.
Third and lastly, I wish the ending had been a bit different/tied in better with story. We all love a cute baby in an epilogue, but in this instance I think what would have been better suited to the story would have been a mention of how Katherine and Stephen had worked together to start his horse-training business utilizing both of their properties and a scene with them riding horses together which would have really tied everything together in my mind, but that’s just my personal opinion.
All in all, this was a 4 star read for me and I would definitely recommend it to lovers of inspirational historical fiction!
This is the third book of Lorri Dudley’s that I have read, the others being The Sugar Baron’s Ring and The Captain‘s Quest. And out of all the books I have read by her, Revealing the Truth is by far my favorite.
The first chapter immediately pulled me in and I found myself not wanting to put the book down until I knew what happened to Katherine. Will she be able to escape her cousin and his cruelty? If she does, where will she go to hide and for how long will she be able to stay safe?
Once Katherine arrives at the Hartingtons after being found at the side of the rode by Lady Hartington, and after she meets Stephen, the story slows down quite a bit. While not as exciting as the beginning and the end are, we get to know each character individually and get to see them grow and the relationship between Stephen and Katherine blossom.
I enjoyed much of the book, including the setting and time period, how faith was weaved into the story, and the suspense of the novel. However, I do have to say that the ending was somewhat rushed and I feel that if it hadn’t been, a couple of the twists and turns would have worked better. I feel that perhaps that perhaps the author may have dragged out the middle of the story perhaps a little too long, and then could have focused a bit more on the resolution of the conflict. But that is just my own personal opinion, and this honestly did not take away too much from the story.
Overall, I would recommend this novel, especially to anyone who loves historical romance set in 1800s England.
I had received the book as part of the Celebrate Lit Blogging Team and was required to give an honest review.
What an exciting and romantic start to a new historical series having to do with espionage and spies. Katherine (Kate) and her sister have been living life the best they can after the unexpected deaths of their parents. Little did Kate know that her guardian would push his way into her home and force her to marry him. Not only does he plan on their marriage, but she gets the distinct feeling he would like to do away with her altogether. So, she runs and a good thing too. After a harrowing escape she is found by the Hartington family. She is taken in and shown kindness and care and they accept her feeble excuse of amnesia as she tries to keep herself and her sister safe. Until the son comes home.
Stephen Hartington is a British spy and knows a thing or two about espionage and is very careful in trusting people. This is his last planned mission as he wants to become a husband and a father, and he already has a lovely bride picked out. Until, in an unusual way he meets his parents' houseguest. As he begins to try to crack her secrets, he begins to fall for her. But he has been betrayed before and he does not trust her wholly. What does this mean for Stephen and Kate? And can Kate trust Stephen enough with her fears?
This was a fun story with romance and danger both in abundance and I enjoyed every word of it. I look forward to more in this series that promises to be really riveting.
I was provided a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
Lorri Dudley has been one of my favorite authors since I happened upon her Leeward Island series and after this book she will continue to be. I love that she can write stories that keep me turning page after page and never want to put it down. I also love that her books are Christian and that she weaves in her faith flawlessly where it enhances each book and character.
I absolutely loved this book and read it in one day! I loved the main characters Stephen and Kate for not only their chemistry together, but just because they are such good people. I love that they both have hope for a family and marriage, but that both have to go through different trials to end up where they are suppose to be. They are written so well with so much depth of character and I loved that they fall pretty quickly for each other so we got to enjoy them together for a bigger span of time.
I loved that in this book there is a mystery and suspense element to it as Kate is running for her life and Stephen is doing his best to support her though he doesn't know all that she is running from. This has a great balance between the suspense, swoony kisses, light hearted banter, and faith building experiences.
If you are looking for a book that Christian aspects, Regency Era, Spies, Mystery, Suspense, Horses, and more give this one a go!
Physical Intimacy Lvl 1-2 (Kisses, Embraces, Making out) Zero Swearing Christian Aspects Dual 3rd Person POV
When the previous series by this author finished, I was thinking I couldn't wait until she wrote another one. This is it! Lorri Dudley has such a knack for writing believable characters, fantastic settings and great villains too! This story made me want to read the whole thing in one sitting, but I just couldn't! Rats! I was so transported to 1811 England that I truly felt I was living there and knew these characters! I felt their feelings and their circumstances! Katherine had lost her parents and was trying to run her estate on her own when the husband of her dead cousin shows up and demands to marry her since he's her guardian! While running away, she gets injured and is found by Stephen Hartington's family who treats her like one of their own. Although I am not fond of the amnesia trope, Katherine fakes amnesia because she doesn't know who to trust. Stephen is a spy for the "Home Office" and trying to find horse thieves. He's not sure who Katherine is but he can't help falling for this intriguing woman - what if she's part of the theft ring though? I loved all the characters, especially Katherine and Stephen but Stephen's family was great too! A lot of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing! Can't wait for the next story already!
Revealing the Truth is a sweet and fun historical fiction novel that you’re going to love! And bonus it is the first book in a new series!
I love a good spy novel! This one is a historical spy novel. We get to travel back in time. Back a long long time that is. And we find characters that are wonderful and fun. They’re well-developed and definitely make us want to keep reading. Add in some fun history of their own that they share with us and it just keeps getting better.
Katherine wants to stay alive. Because of this, she doesn’t want anyone to know who she really is.
Stephen has a mission and he won’t let anything stand in his way. But why does he feel like Katherine is hiding something? Can he figure out her secret? And will she be the answer he is looking for? Surely she’s not a criminal!
This was a wonderful read. I really enjoyed reading it and can’t wait to see what comes next in the series.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.
Lorri Dudley is a new-to-me author but after reading Revealing the Truth (Agents of Espionage Book 1) she is on my TBR list. This delightful story is a compelling read of intrigue and romance. Early on I thought the romance was much stronger than the intrigue but near the end there were surprising twists I never saw coming. So truly the plot is wonderfully complex with characters who are fully developed.
Despite the times and the handicaps put on women Katherine Jenkins proves that she is of great intelligence and determination. Stephen Hartington has just as much depth of emotion even though he honors logical as well as a man of faith with equally great intelligence. The entire Hartington family is one of faith which makes this an inspiring read too.
For a faith-based historical novel be sure to read Revealing the Truth. The first of which I hope with be a long running series.
The publisher Wild Hearts Books provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.
I’ve kind of gotten on a mystery and suspense kick lately, and I enjoy it. Revealing the Truth is fairly fast-paced and includes humor and romance to balance it all out.
I enjoyed the 1800s setting and I liked Katherine right out of the gate. I connected with Stephen and his family as well—his mother is one of my favorites. The romance makes me swoon, the spiritual elements warm my heart, and the mystery is sometimes surprising.
If you enjoy nicely paced, clean mysteries with romance, I suggest looking into this series—especially since this is the first book and the hints at book two are just as intriguing.

#CoverLoverBookReview received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions are 100% mine.
Revealing the Truth by Lorri Dudley is a historical romance. I could not put this book down as I began reading about Katherine and her ruthless guardian. The famous Jenkins Lipizzaner horses add an excellent dimension to this book. When her carriage is run off the road and left for dead, Katherine is rescued by a kind couple.
British spy Stephen Hartington’s assignment to uncover an underground horse-thieving ring brings him home to his family’s manor, and upon climbing through a bedroom window, he finds himself unexpectedly hit over the head by a candlestick.
Katherine worries about who she can trust but finds herself inexplicably drawn to Stephen. I loved the dynamics Lorri Dudley creates between the two characters. Stephen’s sister added an interesting dimension to this book. I loved the twists and turns the plot took until the very end.
So if you enjoy historical romances, check out Revealing the Truth by Lorri Dudley for yourself. I definitely recommend it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
Katherine has lost her world almost, her parents. She's now in charge of everything, horses included and especially! I adored, I mean adored that they are Lippizan horses, as I have seen those in person and they are incredible! It really connected me to this story. Drool worthy horses aside, Katherine is an amazing woman, and there's a romance with twits and spies afoot, along with suspense and subterfuge. Ahhhhh, so many elements that make this a great read! I love the theme of courage being a habit, and the heart rending story of another woman, scared to bits by horses, yet, learning to overcome that deep seated fear. Faith is up front and center, seamlessly worked into the lives of the people we come too know in this book. I'd sure love to go to tea or hang out with the horses with Katherine! I don't feel like my review can do this story justice and I have found another author to love.
Thank you to Celebrate Lit for my digital copy of this book. This review is my own and a positive review is never required.
I've a funny anecdote about this book before I start my review. I sat down on the coach, picked up this book, and tried to find my bookmark. Got annoyed because I thought it had fallen out. Flipped through the pages to find my spot and realized I'd actually finished reading the book. Then I was annoyed because I didn't want it to be done. LOL, definitely going to read book 2, FYI.
This is like Pride and Prejudice if Darcy gave back to Lizzy as good as she dished it out.
This couple is hilarious. They like to go at it! Most of the book reads like a fun historical romance with some suspense/mystery scenes bookending it. She's pretending to have amnesia (for good reason), and he's trying to catch her out because he knows something isn't right. But his feelings keep getting in the way of his determination to uncover her 'dastardly' secrets. (pesky-but-oh-so-much-fun-to-read feelings) While there wasn't a lot of mystery/suspense, I didn't have everything figured out like I thought. That was a nice surprise.
If you love sparring couples, you'll like this one.
Revealing The Truth by Lorri Dudley is book one in Agents of Espionage series. This is a great start to a series. It has suspense, mystery, action and romance. The writing is so clear it is easy to imagine the surroundings and feel the suspense. The story takes the reader back to England in the 1800’s where men pretty much rule the world. When Katherine’s father died, she took care of their farm with Lipizzaner horses by herself, until the day a distant relative arrives at the door and takes over the farm and tells her they are to marry.
I just adored the characters of the Hartington family. Even though they have suffered loss and setbacks their faith is so strong and are so welcoming to strangers. Their Christian faith is very evident. I appreciate how Katherine and Stephen both don’t really know who they can trust. I enjoy the small bits of humor woven into this story as well.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.
Revealing the Truth is a historical fiction story that is written by Lorri Dudley. This is book one in the Agents of Espionage series. I love books by this author. She does such a great job in bringing history to life.
Katherine Jenkins flees her family estate when she is almost forced into a marriage that she did not want to be in. She is then in a carriage accident and fakes memory loss so she is not sent back. British spy, Stephen Hartington is back at his family's estate. He is hot on the trail of a horse thief. Katherine intrigues him. He is drawn to her - and he is not sure how to feel about it.
I loved both of these characters. I loved the whole storyline. There is a little bit of everything in this book: Mystery, romance, espionage and great historical detail. Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.
Revealing the Truth is a historical romance with adventure, mystery, spying, and faith elements weaved into a luscious story that will bring you hours of entertainment and intrigue as you entwine your mind with the lives of our characters. I love the realness of the characters, the encouragement and faith-building aspects that will stick with me, "I let fear have its way. Soon, it controlled me" something I can definitely relate especially from past experiences but I can also put into practice, "Courage is a habit" something we can all work on doing. This is what makes a story for me,it is when I can relate with characters, connect with the trails and tribulations and learn or reminded of God’s love, truth and promises! I look forward to checking out more books by this author and future books in this series. I recommend this book especially if you like historical romance, horses, spies, mystery and faith-building aspects.
The Countess of Dysart, Katherine, has managed her estate since the death of her parents. Suddenly, her cousin arrives, with an unsavoury friend, intending to force her into marriage. Knowing that she's not safe, she flees her home with bandits on her tail.
Lord Stephen Hartington, a domestic spy for the Home Office, returns home to investigate a local horse thievery ring, to find a guest of his parents, a young woman found beaten and unconscious who claims not to remember anything. Katherine doesn't know who to trust and fears for her life and that of her sisters.
She finds a true family in the Hartingtons, but before she can reveal the truth, danger arrives.
Katherine hasn't trusted God since her parents died, but the Hartington's steadfast faith gives her courage to seek Him again. Once lost and alone, she finds herself among people who love and care for her.
The story kept me turning pages, eager to find out what happens and the ending did not disappoint.
I thoroughly LOVED this story!! It is my favorite by this author so far - and one of my top favorites for the year! Exceptionally great characters. Completely engaging storyline. Perfectly described settings. I love this author's style of writing Christian fiction. Faith filled - without being too preachy. Clean sweet romance with knee weakening kisses... Totally suspenseful! The twists at the end had me talking out loud yelling at the bad guys - and rooting for the good ones! Katherine and Stephen are beautifully written - with great chemistry and strong attraction. I loved the elements of faith and how Stephen's family helped 'Kate' to find her way to God. I loved how some of the characters prayed and trusted God - even in the face of so much turmoil. And I'm so excited that the next book in the series will continue on and tell about Abby's lost husband... I loved her character too and look forward to an intriguing story!! I highly recommend this book! 💜 💜 💜
I have loved reading previous books that Lorri Dudley has written and was excited that she had a new series releasing called the Agents of Espionage. I jumped at the opportunity to read the first book, Revealing the Truth, and was far from being disappointed. I adored reading Lady Katharine's story. I enjoyed plot that included danger, adventure, love and, of course, the history. This is not a book that is easy to put down. I thought it was a fabulous book to read.
I am giving Revealing the Truth five stars. I highly recommend it for readers and fans of clean historical romance. I will be eagerly awaiting for the second installment from the Agents of Espionage series.
I received a copy of Revealing the Truth from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
I loved this book! The story pulled me in from the first page and I could not put it down until I saw how things ended. I loved the romance between Stephen and Kate and how they complimented each other’s personalities. I loved how even though Stephen didn’t want to fall in love with Kate because he knew she was keeping something from him, he was willing to follow the Lord’s leading and love her. I loved the adventure/mystery and how that got resolved. I thought the story was a well told, enjoyable story. I also loved the characters and their growth. I’m looking forward to other books in this series.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
I received this book free through Celebrate Lit tours, but the opinions are my own.
This time you might think I was being paid (I'm not)...because I truly enjoyed this book. The faked amnesia plot was very well done and I enjoyed so much how the hero stood by the heroine no matter what.
This is a book with Lords and ladies, mystery and intrigue, and most important of all, faith. I have now got to the point that I don't really enjoy historical fiction where faith isn't a factor--when you consider how much faith was a part of most people's lives during that time.
I highly recommend this book--it's a fast read and enjoyable.
Captivating characters and a wild adventure makes for an exciting read. I am already excited for the next book in the series!!
This book takes place in 1800's Wiltshire and London. The main characters are Katherine (Kate) and Stephen. Both are brave and extremely likable. Kate is pretending to suffer from amnesia so she can hide from her wicked cousin who is also her guardian. Stephen is a spy trying to find horse thieves and decide what to do with his future. Stephen's sister, Abigail is such a big-hearted person and I was drawn to her and her sad story.
Towards the end of the book, I couldn't read fast enough!!
This book was such a great story. It certainly had twists I definitely didn’t see coming! I was kept turning the pages. It is a story of learning to trust in God. I definitely want to read the next book that is coming next. This book has the readers guessing on who is the bad guy and who is the good guy and if the characters are really who they say they are in the story. This is a clean story with some characters that readers like to dislike because they are not very nice people. I could see part of this story really happening so where because greed is everywhere.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.
