Meh. I wasn't feeling this one from the start. I ended up not hating it, but I'm not sure I can even pinpoint the reasons I didn't quite enjoy it either.
Ethan, a billionaire with a bit of an anger problem and a group of friends with whom he has a monthly poker game and adventures, was bet he couldn't make the woman he kept staring at one evening fall in love with him in 30 days.
Now, he was upfront with the bet so at least that wasn't the conflict, but I just didn't care for the story. The woman, Alexandra, of this bet turns out to be Ethan's new life coach. I liked Alexandra as a character but her teacher friendships and how she helped them grade things... That doesn't happen.
It was rather predictable from there on out.

In Samantha's latest installment, Ethan Berkley's journey through anger management intertwines with a captivating love story. The refreshing honesty between Ethan and his life coach, Alexandra Kinder, adds depth to their undeniable chemistry. While their relationship faces external challenges, the minimal internal drama allows their bond to flourish. Samantha skillfully navigates the complexities of their pasts, weaving a compelling narrative that surpasses previous entries in the series. The professional and personal growth of the characters adds layers to the story, making it a solid four-star read that leaves readers eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the series.

My struggle in this book was the lack of professionalism from Alexandria. I felt like she was willing to tell all to any and everyone about Ethan's issues. This made it a struggle to really connect with her as the heroine.

This book also lacked content warnings of mentions of past abuse suffered by the heroine.

This series has been an overall joy to read. I loved Asher's story but book 2 was ok. I was excited to check out Ethan's story and it did not disappoint. The camaraderie, humor, and good-natured ribbing among these friends are a joy to experience. Beneath the extravagant stakes, there's a genuine warmth as they prove to be there for each other when it matters most.

Ethan and Alexandra's story had me captivated right from the start. The bet, the honesty and the banter between these two was mesmerizing. Two people who meet by chance at first, who are then brought together by an arrangement find that business and pleasure are hard to separate when the lines start to blur. Ethan will steal your heart and Alexandra will have you amazed at her strength and determination. Both people who had been wronged in their past will find that their future will depend on how they can manage the present. A story that touches your heart in such a magic way as the words wrap themselves tightly around your heart and soul. The chemistry between them was on fire and the connection is felt deep under your skin. A love story that will ultimately steal your heart and leave you breathless.

An average romance - read on KU

I LOVE Samantha Whiskey, but not this series. This one was better than the first, but nothing stands out about it. Well, that isn't entirely true, but it isn't the story, just one small thing. It is a slight spoiler, but it comes early in the book. Ethan takes a bet with his poker crew that he can make Alexandra fall in love with him within a time frame. The difference is he actually tells her right off the bat about the bet. I appreciated that.

There was one detail that was the opposite. It was overdone and you know it is coming. It happens towards the end and has to do with some of her volunteer work. I won't give the detail away even though it isn't much of a plot point. I will say I've read two other books this year that did the exact same thing. (I do read a lot. I've read 362 new to me books according to Amazon stats this year through 11/30.)

The Onyx Assassins series is my first or second favorite romance series of all time. I love the Reapers series, too. I can't wait for Ms. Whiskey to get back to the assassins. Those have all been 5 🌟 or at least high 4 star reads. I've reread the series a couple of times and it isn't even that old.

Everything about their situation should have equaled “No Way”, but forced proximity has a funny way of leading to HEAs

Whiskey nails it out of the ballpark with her third addition to the Billionaire’s Game series. If the forced proximity trope is your yum, then Ethan & Alex’s story will have you hooked from the start. It starts with a bet, then a surprise, but no matter what our H & h are going to be attached at the hip for 3 months. With insta-chemistry out the gate, neither of them stand a chance of getting through the next 3 months without catching serious feelings.

I wanted to like this more than I actually did. The FMCs backstory was very similar to my own life experiences and I had a hard time with how easily she decided that this guys issues didn’t bother her. But hey, we are all different people (even if she is made up and I am not).

Still giving it 4 stars because Samantha Whiskey reigns supreme.

Ethan is the third book in the Billionaire’s Game series by Samantha Whiskey. I love the clever concept of close friends who are uber wealthy and own various sports teams and other businesses. The friends get together once a month where they not only have to participate in an adrenaline rush activity, they play poker and the stakes are insane, more than any normal person can fathom. But in their world, it gets their rocks off and it’s perfectly fine to lose a home, a team, or millions of dollars in just a few hours.

It’s all in good fun and I love their sense of humor, good natured ribbing, and comradery. But when push comes to shove these best friends are there for each other which really warmed my heart.

In the first two books in this series, Asher and Weston each found love, and now it’s Ethan’s turn to fall. A self-proclaimed forever bachelor due to a relationship gone south, he accepts the challenge of having to make a stranger fall in love with him or pay $4 million to his opponent’s favorite charity.

Ethan is a very likeable character. Smart, handsome, and the owner of the MLB team the Charleston Hurricanes. He has a bit of a temper and must undergo behavior therapy in order to try and keep it in check or risk losing his beloved team.

I love how he meets our heroine, Alexandra, by chance, the same night of the poker game, and this becomes a bit like one of my favorite movies, “How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days,” except she doesn’t try to get him to break up with her.

They are immediately smitten with one another, and share a passionate kiss. The author keeps us on our toes and I love the slow burn of this couple as they each have a past that haunts them, and are both so deserving of love.

The author includes lots of twists and turns and some moral dilemmas as Alexandra is hired as his behavior specialist. He is already drawn to her but as he gets to know her better, he can’t help but admire her volunteer work, and how she is so genuine. Alexandra innately knows she can trust him and as these two spend time together, they only grow closer.

Ethan is the very reason the term Book Boyfriend was coined. He is so genuine and loving and truly cares about the people around him. While he wears designer suits like the best of them, he isn’t afraid to jump in and get dirty to lend a hand.

Alexandra was brutally honest and a spitfire. Loved how she stood up to others to set them straight about Ethan’s character and she believed in him. The only thing I didn’t like about the book was how it repeatedly mentioned that she was “the best” at what she does. She is only in her late 20s and while you can have success with patients, behavior therapy is not 100% curable. There are set-backs and relapses. It’s meant to find coping mechanisms and be able to identify a harmful behavior before it escalates, but felt her being the best was pompous and not believable. I was impressed at the author’s knowledge on this subject, but would have just preferred if it if her “being the best” was only mentioned once.

I also felt she should not share with the animal shelter personnel or others that he was her client. If he wanted to share that with his friends then that is his business, but her lack of confidentiality bothered me.

This book had all the feels and I love how his friends and their significant others embraced Alexandra and supported Ethan. This book tied up very nicely for the two of them, but I am still waiting for the villain and instigator Boyle to get his due! I know some of his other single friends are in need of soulmates, and am excited to read more in this series. I will continue for sure!

“Desire. Curiosity. Need. Those were all very present as he claimed me with just a look.”

Ethan (Billionaire’s Game Series, Book 3 )
Author: Samantha Whiskey
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Ethan Berkley has found himself in anger management lessons after an outburst at his team’s MLB game made the commissioner question his ability to run the Charleston Hurricanes. When he arrives early to his first session, he is met by a familiar face. Alexandra Kinder, the girl from the restaurant the night prior who was the subject of one of his poker bets and that Ethan can’t get out of his head, she reintroduces herself as his new life coach. While the two are completely honest with each other about expectations and feelings, they agree to continue on with the anger management lessons as planned. With past complications and a new professional relationship, they shouldn’t want more but the two have an undeniable bond that only grows stronger with time.

Samantha perfectly executed Ethan and Alex’s story. The honesty that both the MMC and FMC share is so refreshing and only makes their chemistry stronger. The absolute trust the two share with each other creates limited drama within their relationship but we get plenty of outside sources of drama throughout. As the characters grow a professional and personal bond, they continue to grow and learn together. The relationship brings two tortuous pasts and creates an alluring love story. As the third book in the series, these stories just keep getting better and I can’t wait to hear whose story comes next.

Ethan owns the hurricanes baseball team and has a bad temper. He gets in trouble for fighting. Some fans made a bigoted remark to one of his players so he broke the fans jaw. It he never told anyone why he punched the guy so the baseball commission demanded he go to anger management or he would lose the team.
Alexandra is a life coach who doesn’t date for more than 30 days because her ex was an abusive ass. She meets Ethan in a restaurant the night of the poker game and the bet is that Ethan has to get this random girl to fall in love with him.
The next day they find out she’s assigned to be his anger management life coach.
Ethan is all perfect and wonderful. Alex follows him around and puts him in situations where he has to learn self control but a month in they can’t deny their attraction to each other and make a deal for a 30 day secret dating thing.
Alex finds out that Ethan’s triggers are basically other people being assholes to the people he cares about. And Ethan finds out that Alex’s ex is a football player that liked to put his hands on her.
Alex is quick witted when people insult Ethan and she handles everyone who speaks out of line, including Ethan’s asshole ex and her husband, who Ethan pretty much stole the baseball team from. But when Alex’s ex shows up, Ethan loses his shit and punches him in the face with all the phones out and it goes to social media in minutes.
Alex gathers up the baseball commissioner and the other owners who are about to boot him from the league and tells them all the truth, that he saw her with her ex and snapped because her ex had abused her. She convinces the ex, who was actually just apologizing to her and telling her that therapy made him realize he was an a shove shitbag, not to press charges against Ethan.
In the end, they end up married with a ba y 3 years later and everything is HEA.

Ethan lives a life that most would dream of living, it's a life that wasn't handed to him, it was one he worked really hard for, and he will do everything he can to protect it. Being the owner of a baseball team means he has a target on his back, when the team is doing well fans are happy, but when their not it falls on his shoulders, and sometimes disgruntled fans direct their distaste his way.

You'd think he'd be use to it by now, but every once in a while there's that fan that pushes him to defend his carefully protected world, and when he chooses to retaliate it draw's the attention of some very important people, people who want him to pay for his little in degression. Now he finds himself spending his days with a very beautiful anger management coach that he is having a hard time keeping his hands off of, but the alternative would be severely frowned upon... no matter how tempting she may be!

From the get-go these characters had my attention, there was just something about them that made it impossible to walk away from them, I just HAD to know everything! Which ultimately lead to a very enjoyable late night reading escapade...this was such a thoroughly satisfying love story!! I loved these two together, the banter they shared, the steamy encounters, and the heated glances made my toes curl and put a permanent smile on my face. They easily stole the top spot as my favorite couple in the series, they were perfect together and had a beautifully penned love story that I won't soon forget. Highly recommend you get your hands on their story, they will steal every bit of your heart and attention at first glance!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

I was so excited when this hit my kindle and had to start it right away. “Ethan” is a heartfelt, flirty and steamy friends to lovers Billionaire romance that captured my heart with how relatable Alexandra and Ethan were.

Ethan Berkley is the owner of the Charleston Hurricanes, the baseball team, and he’s on thin ice with the league after an altercation with a fan. Ethan hires Alexandra Kinder, a life coach to help with his anger management issues. The two had met previously when her blind date stood her up. Now they’re working together but the connection they first had when they met is still there and neither can ignore it.

I loved how they met even before they were officially working together. It was such a cute way to meet and showed how playful and connected they were from the beginning. Ethan was a self made billionaire and worked for everything penny that he earned. He’s kind, genuine and confident in who he is as a businessman. Alexandra is such a sweet woman who wants to help people with themselves. I loved how she was passionate about volunteering to help make the community better. Ethan and Alexandra had great banter and I loved how they went from friends to lovers. Ethan turned up the swoon when with Alexandra and I loved how he really listened to her. They both made each other feel seen and were just so perfect together. I loved the ending and it was the perfect way to wrap up the story. There were some little hints for the next books and I can’t wait to read them.

Ethan & Alexandra

These two gave me all the 10 Things I Hate About You vibes the whole book! Ethan is this closed off broody kind of guy but not too broody like Gareth. He is extremely wealthy and a hit if a hot head at times and definitely doesn’t open up easily. He has some deep rooted trauma from his ex who really messed him up so much that he avoids relationships.

Alexandra has her own baggage for sure but she is one of those girls who never pulls a punch. She is a straight shooter and absolutely takes no lip from those around her. How she put Doyle and then Shelby (Ethan’s ex-I forgot her name… she was that awful) in their place was so so good.

As Ethan’s life coach, she truly sees him and goes beyond the surface. She also isn’t into relationships so these two on paper seem like a great fit for a fling. They just have such a deep connection and understanding of one another that it’s a no brainer that they fell in love.

I’m glad that the story focused on the growth they had and individuals as well as their growth as a couple too. I kind of thought that I’d see more drama surrounding his temper and her past but I was glad that is only popped up in small doses. I think it gave the story more human aspect in some ways.

As always, I love seeing some of my favorite billionaires again. It’s always good to see Wes and Asher with their ladies but now I really need Cross and Gareth’s books. Samantha has been teasing us with a Gareth and Serenity story for a few books now so I can’t wait to see that play out.

Book: Ethan (A Billionaires Series)
Author: Samantha Whiskey
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

When hot-head Ethan Berkley finds himself in hot water, the MLB commissioner mandates this team owner to 3 months of anger management. The last thing he expects when he shows up to meet his new personal coach is to see the spitfire from the night prior, let alone for her to be his coach. Ethan doesn’t have any other options, he needs Alexandra’s help or risk losing his prized possession, the Charleston Hurricanes. So he agrees to her rules of no fraternizing until they can’t avoid their connection any longer.

The chemistry for these two was evident from the start. Samantha developed Ethan through his friend group over the last 2 books and Alexandra just fit into his life so seamlessly. While this pair both came from troubled histories, we are engrossed as we watch their growth together and through each other. These fated hearts are just that, fated from the moment they met. We love a HEA and a group of friends to continue loving.

Ethan and Alexandra’s story.

Ethan owns the Charleston Hurricanes, a baseball team. He’s got a very bad temper and had an incident at the game. He only gets that way for anyone he cares about. It stems from his past. He could be removed by the lead commissioner because of it. He has to complete anger management classes. While he’s playing poker one of his friends bets him that he can’t make a girl fall in love with him in three months. Alexandra is the girl his friend picked for that bet. Being honest, he tells her about the bet. She’s honest to a fault, and says she does not fall in love. Well now, he feels the same way. They both had been burned in the past. I think he’s met his match. Oddly enough, the electricity flows right through them when they kiss. Alexandra works as a life coach and specializes in anger management, and she does charity work for the ASPCA and other charities. What a surprise they both had when they met for that meeting. The tension between them is intense. They both go through ups and downs struggling with their past. Ethan is improving day by day. Will he be triggered again? An arrangement is made because of the attraction between them, and there is spicy steam that comes off the pages as you read. Their self-esteem is not good. Can they make a go of it? Wonderful read of their amazing story!

Beautiful story of healing

I honestly didn't have any expectations or preconceived notions as to what Ethan's story would be and I also didn't read the blurb. Samantha Whiskey's hockey and billionaire books are one click buys for me. She never disappoints! And she certainly didn't with this next installment of the Billionaire Game series.

Ethan is a sweet, sarcastic, but temperamental man. He's got a hair trigger when it comes to protecting the people and things he loves, and it's finally come back to bite him in the tushy. He's one misstep away from losing the thing he loves most; his MLB Baseball team.

Enter Alex. What started as a bet to make some unsuspecting woman at a bar fall in love with him turns out to be the life coach hired to help him control his inner beast. The lines between professional and personal blur and sparks neither can control fly.

I absolutely loved every minute of this book. From each character's traumatized past, to the rules they've put into place to avoid ever getting hurt again. They're the least likely to fall in love, and yet, when faced with the one person who sees them for everything they are, scars and all, and still wants them, they both fall fast and hard!

I think this is my favorite of the series so far, and I'm really looking forward to Gareth and Crossland!

I’m loving these billionaires. In this third visit we meet Ethan. He’s an emotional man and his hot headed outbursts and tendency to use his fists are causing him all sorts of problems….he’s on his last chance to sort himself out and control his anger or he looses his baseball team….a team he cares deeply for.
Enter life coach Alex, she is tasked with the job of straightening Ethan out and helping him with anger management….but first they have to put aside the scorching kiss they shared before they were properly introduced…then they need to figure out his triggers…what they discover is something that cements Alex’s feeling for Ethan and proves to her that he is an amazing man.

There are some really wonderful moments, some emotional situations and lots of truths as we learn that both these characters have had quite the worst experiences with love and ex-partners. I loved Alex and her blunt honesty, she’s witty and amazingly strong. The way she goes to bat for Ethan was so great!
Ethan is a sweetheart, he just struggles, but the way he was open to change and determined to better himself made this such a heart-lifting story and the epilogue proved just that!

This book was cute but not as good as some of the previous ones written by this author.

Ethan has anger issues and he’s on the verge of having the MLB team he owns taken away from him as a result. In comes Alexandra, a life coach hired to help Ethan with his issues. Before they ever knew they would. E interacting professionally, the two met and had an instant attraction. They have to decide how to balance the multiple facets of their relationship.

This book was cute. I love Ethan. It was so sweet that his “anger issues” were actually him being protective of others and it just comes out in a violent way. I loved that the book showed he wasn’t a bad guy at all.

I also really enjoyed Alexandra. She was so confident in herself but she had issues of her own. I do wish that we had seen Alexandra dealing with her issues alongside Ethan rather than hiding from them the way she did. I feel like there wasn’t really any healing on her part and I wanted that for her.

Overall, this book was good but there was no spark for me. I didn’t feel like I wanted to swoon with the initial flirtations. It felt very removed for me.

I was completely captivated by Ethan and Alexandra's story. Both characters are complex and flawed, and their chemistry is off the charts. The way their romance slowly evolves adds to the intensity of their relationship, and I found myself rooting for them every step of the way.

One of the things I appreciated about this book was the way the author handled sensitive topics like anger management and past trauma. She did it with such care and authenticity, making it an integral part of the story without overshadowing the romance.

The supporting characters were also well-developed, and I loved how they added depth to the story. The interactions between Ethan and his baseball team were heartwarming, and I enjoyed seeing how their relationships evolved throughout the book.

This book is a must-read for anyone who loves a steamy romance with a good dose of drama. Samantha Whiskey has a way of weaving a compelling story that keeps you hooked until the very end.

Ethan and Alex

I really like this series. All the books have been pretty low angst with some good humor. This one was very lighthearted but did touch on some sensitive topics, such as domestic abuse.

I loved this plot. When Gareth first gave Ethan the bet I was afraid it would become a big secret, but I really enjoyed his honesty with Alex. I loved their meet cute and the way Alex was so obviously Ethan’s perfect match. They were both so similar in their quest to never fall in love and their reasons behind it.

I really liked that Alex, who had been in a toxic relationship in college, used her experience to hone her skills in reading people and their emotions. I loved that Ethan was her client for his short temper but she never felt threatened because she understood him and his reactions. They developed a great friendship before they gave in to their chemistry and it made their relationship even stronger.

This was a fun book. It was an easy read and one that I flew through in one sitting. I love how different their group of friends is, and that they compliment each other so well. I can’t wait for the final two billionaires to meet their matches!

My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️

General Thoughts: I have read many Samantha Whiskey books. I discovered awhile ago and have been making my way through her entire catalog ever since. I think I've read all of her contemporary books now. I always end up binging them. That was no exception here, where I read three in a row.

This one was an interesting premise. I was a bit worried about it, honestly. The MMC has trouble regulating his emotions. However, the author did it well and the MMC wasn't violent against women or abusive. It's directed at jerks he thinks deserve it. I won't say more there. (Note: dv/ipv isn't about anger; it's about power and control.) However, check your triggers going into this one.

It was an enjoyable read. I found the characters intriguing. Quick, fun writing.

Spice Meter: ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥.5 Spicy. This one has spice throughout and is fairly detailed.

I loved Alexandra with Ethan!

Ethan Berkley will do anything to save his ownership of the MLB’s Charleston Hurricanes after he was videoed breaking a fan’s jaw even completing anger management therapy with a life coach. He didn’t expect it to be the woman he saw at the bar when his friends bet him that he couldn’t make a woman fall in love with him in three months. Ethan needs her approval to continue his ownership of the Hurricane’s.

Alexandra Kinder never expected the guy at the bar to be her new client but maybe he can keep up with her while she figures Ethan out.

I loved the chemistry between Ethan and Alexandra when she makes him do activities out of his comfort zone to figure out what makes him tick.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I always love a new round of the Billionaires poker game. The stakes that this group of guys bet with is always entertaining and when Ethan lost a round of poker his bet was tricky and lead to an interesting relationship with Alexandra.

Alexandra is a life coach and her newest client happens to be the guy she kissed the night before, Ethan. Now the two have to try and ignore their attraction to each other and stay professional in order to get Ethan’s life back on track.

The two have been dealt some horrible hands in past relationships so they come with a lot of baggage, but they quickly discover they they are both worth it all.

I enjoyed Ethan and Alexandra navigate their relationship and the the cameos from the other billionaires. I can’t wait to see what happens with Gareth and Crossland next!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have loved this Billionaire Games series. This story focuses on Ethan, the sexy billionaire and owner of the baseball team, The Charleston Hurricanes. He has a short temper, which has gotten him into a bit of trouble, and to save his team needs to get himself a life coach. A card game with his mates has him in a bet to make a girl fall in love with him in 3 months but he doesn't realise the girl they have chosen is also the girl who is his new life coach Alex.

Alex is a girl who has a rule that no relationship will last more than 30 days. She is strong, funny, and beautiful, and Ethan is completely swept away by her. The fun banter and flirting between them makes it nearly impossible for them both to keep things professional. So they give each other 30 days to explore the chemistry between them, and the spice is hot hot hot!

Both Ethan and Alex go on a journey and face their pasts, which have made them both sceptical about love. I absolutely loved this couple, Ethan was the perfect book boyfriend. Can't wait to see which of the friends is going to come next Crossland or Gareth??

I loved Ethan and Alex’s story! I could not stop reading and loved every second of it.

Ethan is the owner of the Hurricanes baseball team, and after punching a fan, he is forced to hire a life coach. The night before meeting the coach, while playing his monthly billionaires poker game, he sees Alex across the room. When he goes to meet her, sparks fly between them, but the next day when Ethan goes to meet his life coach, it is Alex.

What Alex quickly realizes is that Ethan has a huge heart and is not even close to the way the media portrays him. She makes it her mission to help Ethan control, his anger and at the same time resist the attraction to him. Ethan feels the same attraction, and makes it his mission to keep his baseball team and Alex!

I cannot wait for more in this series!

When Mr anti commitment wins a chip that say he has to make someone fall in love with him in 30 days you know it’s going to be good. Ethan has always been the one poker game member who seemed so put together and unflappable. He had his eye on his team and nothing could get in his way. But when is temper got away from him he is teamed up with Alex to work on his anger problems. The only issue? She’s the girl his friends chose for him to win the bet.

I love how the author gives us such new and fun story lines in every book. You never feel like she is recycling tropes. We got an instant connection of our main characters as well as the added work relationship. They had great banter. Each character felt different and fully realized. I’m enjoying this series and I’m so exited to read the next book.

I absolutely love this story! Ethan, by all appearances, has an anger issue that has forced Alex to be his life/anger management coach. Alex is such an amazing, beautiful, strong FMC. She is so loyal, sets her boundaries, and has no problem standing up to others. Ethan is perfection as MMC…damaged not irreparably, so very protective but yet willing to step back and let Alex handle business. These two are beautifully flawed characters, that have been so hurt by their pasts they have each given up on love. Their sparks exploded from the moment they met, though, creating a delicious forbidden tension through the book. Their spice level together is toe curling perfection. The character growth within their story is phenomenal. I adore this series, but this one has taken top spot for me!
