Tess Thompson Romance...hometowns and heartstrings.
Tess Thompson is the USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author of contemporary and historical Romantic Women’s Fiction with over 60 published titles. When asked to describe her books, she could never figure out what to say that would perfectly sum them up until she landed on, Hometowns and Heartstrings.
She’s married to her prince, Best Husband Ever, and is the mother of their blended family of four kids and five cats. Best Husband Ever is seventeen months younger, which qualifies Tess as a Cougar, a title she wears proudly. Her Bonus Sons are young adults with pretty hair and big brains like their dad. Daughters, better known as Princess One and Two, are teenagers who make their mama proud because they’re kind. They’re also smart, but a mother shouldn’t brag.
Tess loves lazy afternoons watching football, hanging out on the back patio with Best Husband Ever, reading in bed, binge-watching television series, red wine, strong coffee and walks on crisp autumn days. She laughs a little too loudly, never knows what to make for dinner, looks ridiculous kickboxing in an attempt to combat her muffin top, and always complains about the rain even though she chose to live in Seattle.
She’s proud to have grown up in a small town like the ones in her novels. After graduating from the University of Southern California Drama School, she had hopes of becoming an actress but was called instead to writing fiction. She’s grateful to spend most days in her office matchmaking her characters while her favorite cat Mittens (shhh…don’t tell the others) sleeps on the desk.

A match for a disgraced bride. By tess Thompson. Ellla point series.
this is another installment in the ella point series that has pulled at my heart strings and is my favorite book in the series...
Sarah rose and Rhett story.
Saraha Rose The child no one wanted Her family saw her as a disgrace. Thought she was someone no one could love. She saw the world through a window because they didn't want anyone to see her. Was it really Sara or Was it her family's reputation they were worried about...
Rhett,
A Guy who's taking care of the lighthouse on Whale Island 🏝. A guy with a big heart. Who needs more than he realizes.. Life is just at the beginning.. The brother of so many on the island which he recently found out about..
I must say the story was absolutely amazing it will pull at your heart strings.. The characters in this story absolutely were my favorite. The author did a amazing job. I have read every book in the series and the entire series is a must read. It's like being part of the family being on the island just so many wonderful characters..
I love the connections misses mantell Makes.
I would honestly Give this book nine stars if it was allowed it's that good...
Sara Rose was never treated the same as her sister. She was kept in her bedroom and never shown to the public. As a child, her baby blue eyes turned to one blue and one brown. Her mother said it was the mark of the devil and she was treated as something to be ashamed of.
When her sister got engaged, she was invited to dinner where she met her sister’s fiancé. After a nice dinner, he did the unthinkable and said he would blame her if she told anyone. When she found out she was pregnant, her old teacher had met her at the local park where they agreed to meet about a position on the island. She had written a letter to her sister before she left explaining what happened. Her parents got the letter and kicked her out.
Once on the island, Sara Rose would work with Rhett in the Lighthouse as a housekeeper. She got close to Rhett and explained her situation. Soon after he got a letter explaining he had to have a wife to keep his job. They decided to marry and he would claim the child was his. After a beautiful wedding, they fell into a nice routine. They had hired a young man to work a couple nights a week so they could spend time together.
After about a month, Sara Rose had a miscarriage. She was utterly distraught. Rhett buried what there was of the baby so she could visit it every day after she was feeling up to it.
This book is heartbreaking and beautifully written. Not everyone has a perfect life and not everyone turns out bad from a rough childhood. Sara Rose is a beautiful soul and Rhett is her perfect match.
Disclaimer: There are some potentially triggering moments in this book, but the triumph of love shines through.
The bittersweet story of Sarah Rose and Rhett Rivers. Rhett is the lighthouse keeper and doesn't even realize that he needs someone in his life, while Sarah has been lonely for all of hers.
Rhett is the perfect mix of steady/kind/sweetness to help Sarah Rose recover from the trauma and despair that she feels has damaged her.
Sarah is dealing with trauma and extreme mistreatment by her family. She is lonely, sad, and more different than her family can tolerate.
Sarah relies on her only friend and old governess, Miss Jane, to help and guide her when her world rips apart and she is forced to find her own way. She doesn't realize that Miss Jane also needs to be saved from her current situation.
When the women come to Miss Mantle after seeing her add in the paper, she isn't sure about the pair for Ella Pointe. However, after hearing their stories and taking stock of them, she decides that they should have the opportunities that she knows may await in Ella Pointe.
Tess Thompson has done it again! A Match for a Disgraced Bride did NOT disappoint. (I think I say this every time, because it is true)
Sara Rose and Rhett—just might be my favorite characters in this series.
Sara Rose—banished from her house (not home) due to a situation that she did not create--and Rhett—isolated and in need of a housekeeper—find themselves in need of each other’s help.
Luckily, Miss Mantle has intervened again and has brought Sara Rose to the island to become Mr. Rivers’ housekeeper.
Will Miss Mantle’s matchmaking work again? Will Sara Rose get over her being “unlovability” with Rhett’s help? Will Rhett accept Sara Rose with all of her “baggage?

Sara Rose has lived a life of rejection and mistreatment due to one major difference in her appearance, her eyes. Being locked away and belittled is one thing to endure, but when she is faced with the unthinkable type of abuse, she flees her family for the one person she could always count on, her old tutor, Miss. Piper. Together, with the help of Miss. Mantle, they head to Whale Island. A new beginning for both of them.
Rhett has taken over the lighthouse duties. With his mother and father gone, he's alone in the lighthouse, and naturally, a housekeeper is needed. So he hires one, through Mrs. Mantle. He gets so much more than he ever hoped or bargained for.
This story was....WOW. Tess Thompson was able to bring a tragic story and turn it into a beautiful story of redemption. Sara Rose faces so many different challenges, and Rhett, like an angel, is there to save her. It was beautiful. This story was written in such a way that you will be drawn in completely. The pain, the tears, the joy, all can be felt coming from the pages. I loved the setting and the characters. Sara Rose and Rhett have a beautiful love story. Full of forgiveness and love, this story is just an amazing read all around.
Tess Thompson brings characters to life in ways that are so easy for her readers to relate to. In the 5th Ella Point romance, she introduces us to Sara Rose, a beautiful girl born to a wealthy Boston family that shuns her as "cursed by the Devil" because her eyes are not the same color. Hidden away from society, she is isolated and vulnerable, then attacked by her sister's fiancé. When she finds herself unwed and pregnant, she knows her family will cast her out, so accepts a position as a housekeeper on an island in remote Washington state.
Rhett, the island lighthouse keeper, is isolated and lonely since his parents retired and moved out of the lighthouse. Encouraged by his half-siblings and parents, he decides to hire a housekeeper through a staffing agency in Boston. But he never expected her to be young and beautiful. Then he gets a letter from his employer saying: get married or lose your job.
Can the housekeeper who needs a father for her unborn child and a lighthouse keeper who needs a wife to keep his job make marriage work? Are they the answer to each other's prayers? This slow-burn romance is sweet and tender. Thanks to Ms Thompson for the ARC copy, I enjoyed reading and recommending A Match for a Disgraced Bride.
This might be my favorite book in the series. There is something about Rhett and Sara Rose that had me hoping that they could work through the trouble of her past and find a way to love each other. He is the lighthouse keeper and is probably the sweetest man. She comes from a wealthy family, but they have abandoned her and have treated her horrible her entire life.
There are some triggers in this story so be careful when reading. When Sara Rose confessed what happened to her, her family doesn’t believe her so she goes to the one person who has ever shown her love, her ex governess. They decide to make a fresh start and she gets hired as Rhett’s housekeeper.
Rhett is sweet, compassionate, protective and loyal. While the relationship moves quickly and he asks her to marry him to help them both out, he also enjoys her company and promises to take things at her pace. He hates the way her family treated her and tries his hardest to get her to see she is nothing like her family said.
I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next book in the series. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.
Such a sweet story, just right and perfect as a palate cleanser after all those dark romances in books and tv I gobbled up these past few weeks. This has an interesting storyline. Truly loved the MMC, he is a real hero, what a man! Very kind, sweet and loving. He really took care of the heroine who had a very difficult life.
The heroine was also nice. She is very strong, hardworking and kind though she has a lot of insecurities and that plays a huge part in this book. However, given her past, you'd eventually understand why she is like that, it is so unfair and sad, my heart broke for her but then our Hero came into her life and yeppp, the story of how they fell in love was so romantic and cute.
Loved that this was a small-town romance, the family dynamics are also heartwarming and I was so happy for the heroine when she and the hero have finally got their well-deserved HEA. This book was just very sweet and has a good amount of domesticity, I liked it so much.
TW: rape (brief on page), miscarriage, talks of murder and violence
Tess Thompson makes another swing at historical small town romance and hits a home run!
Mrs. Mantle is back to work her magic on another of the Tutheridge siblings - this time Rhett, the half brother. I loved getting to read Rhett’s perspective. He has always been more of a side character in the previous books, so it was great to be able to see what kind of person he is.
The other main character, Sara Rose, has lived a very sheltered life because of an extremely ridiculous reason. She then becomes the victim in the worst kind of assault, and finds herself in a very precarious position. Sara Rose is a very strong charter despite all of the fear she has because of her past. Does she have what it takes to conquer her fears and accept Rhett? Only time will tell.
A Match for a Disgraced Bride is the next amazing book in Tess Thompson’s The Mystery Matchmaker of Ella Pointe series. I can’t wait to read what comes next!
Book 5 in the Matchmaker series is a delight! Rhett Rivers, the half-brother of the Tutheridge family, is a lonely lighthouse keeper on Ella Pointe and the focus of this installment. Sara Rose is a young woman that has been severely mistreated by her family. Her eyes are two different colors and so her family locks her away from the world making her think that there is something wrong with her. After a horrible event she, along with her former governess, seeks the help of Miss Mantle. Mantle has the plan to send them cross country to Ella Pointe to start a new life with a new job. However, she is a matchmaker and Sara Rose and Rhett find more than just a working relationship. There are more twists and turns but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.
The book is beautifully written. Tess captures the innocence of both Sara Rose and also Rhett. It's so heartwarming to see Sara Rose accepted into the Tutheridge clan and blossom into a happy beautiful bride. Highly recommended!
Sara Rose comes from an affluent family who regard her as cursed due to her different coloured eyes. When her sister's fiancé dishonours her and her family take his side she realises she has no place left anymore and she flees along with her previous governess/au pair. Back on Whale Island Rhett has taken over the lighthouse master from his father and then gets informed he needs to get married within 3 months or lose his job; his home and his lifestyle. Enter our two beloved mystery matchmakers who weave their plans and bring these two souls together. Will they fall in love? Or will their marriage stay a sham? In book 4 we explore more of Whale Island with Sara and Rhett and we pick up on how he fits into his new-found family and how Sara finds her place in Whale Island. It is worth noting that to understand this book fully, you need to have read the bonus chapter of book three to fully understand why this book takes place.
This was an adorable, clean romance. I liked it. I might even read the other books in the series. So our h is seen as evil by her rich family in Boston because she has heterochromia. She's been raised and educated completely at home. And then her sister's fiancee forces himself on her and she winds up pregnant. Her family blames her, of course. Poor lady. So she decides to run away with her former governess and find this matchmaking service that sends her to be a housekeeper to the lighthouse keeper on an island in Puget Sound, our H. Whose cat, Mouser, has just had kittens. I like him already. There's a mystery there with a missing young woman who turns up dead. I'm pretty sure I know who the murder is. It's just a sweet love story of two people brought together and they fall in love and h finds her family in H's family. I hope the governess will be the next story. Also, the kittens!
A Match For A Disgraced Bride by Tess Thompson Once again, we travel to Ella Pointe. This time to witness the love that is sure to develop between Rhett and Sara Rose. Ms. Mantle was able to work her magic for yet another member of this lovable family. Sara Rose has been emotionally abused most of her life. And, then later, raped by her sister’s fiancé. When her former teacher presents an opportunity for both of them to escape and start anew on Ella Pointe, Sara Rose jumps at the chance. Rhett is in desperate need of a wife or lose his position as the lighthouse keeper. Sara Rose needs a father for her unborn baby. Will a marriage of convenience turn to one of enduring love? Ms. Thompson is able to create so many wonderful characters in her series. You will immediately fall in love with all of them and be rooting for them to succeed and find that love that we all deserve. Well done Tess. Well done.
Rhett is a half-brother to the Tutheridge children, which they only discover after their father is murdered. Mrs. Tutheridge knew all along, but was too ashamed to admit it. Now that Mr. Tutheridge is gone, Mrs. Tutheridge would like to help Rhett find more happiness as well, since she feels partially responsible for his birth mother's death. Rhett is the lighthouse keeper on the island and has just been told he needs to marry to keep his beloved job. Fortunately, his match was already in the works. Sara Rose has come to the island with challenges of her own. Her terrible family isolated her due to her physical looks and turned their backs on her when she was assaulted by her sister's fiancee. She is now pregnant and in desperate need of a new home and work to keep her alive. Can their challenging situations somehow benefit one another and maybe grow into real love someday? Read to find out. Thank you to the author and publisher for an advanced review copy. All opinions are my own.
The latest in the Mystery Matchmaker series is a delight. Sarah Rose and Rhett's love story was outdone only by the charming lighthouse setting and the fuzzy kittens. Immediately compelling. I couldn't get understand what the big deal was about her appearance...would people really do that to their own child because of her mismatched eyes? Apparently, yes, they would. Grrrrr I was drawn to Sarah Rose as a misfit, treated so cruelly by her family, and outraged over her situation. As usual Thompson has all the elements of an enthralling period piece, detailing the social atmosphere, the food and fashion. And of course we have all the recurring characters of Ella Pointe, well developed and all full of their own wonderful personalities. I read this in two days, had a hard time putting it down. This is another beautiful love story, not to be missed.
A Match for a Disgraced Bride by Tess Thompson is the newest addition in her wonderful series The Mystery Matchmaker of Ella Pointe. This is Sara Rose and Rhett’s story and it is my favorite. A beautifully written story that will pull very hard on your heartstrings. A beautifully written story by a very talented author. It is fast paced with sweet characters you will love. Ms. Thompson knows how to write great books that will make you smile and also shed a tear. I highly recommend this one and all the books in this series…..you will not be disappointed.
Thank you Tess Thompson for another pleasurable book to read and review. The opinions expressed are strictly my own. #tessthompson. #amatchforadisgracedbride. #arc #themysterymatchmakerofellapointe
Sara Rose had been emotionally abused most of her life by her family. When she is compromised by her sister’s fiancé and becomes pregnant, her parents disown her; sending her away. With only her ex-nanny as a friend, she goes to Mrs. Mantle to apply for a housekeeping position at the lighthouse worked by Rhett. Rhett faces an ultimatum by the owners of the lighthouse to marry within three months or risk losing his position as the keeper of the lighthouse. Will a married of convenience be the answer to this couple’s dilemma? Though it seems this book ended with questions still to be answered, this is a series of which I feel sure the author will clear up in a future book.
What a sweet story of redemption, love and life! Sarah Rose has been hidden away all her life by her family because of her differences. Her Mother claimed her differences are the mark of the devil and Sarah Rose was never able to experience life outside her home. Her sister's fiance took advantage of her during their engagement party which leads to a decision that changes her life forever!
Rhett is such a calm hard working man who needs someone to help him. He receives a letter that alters his path right into Sarah Rose's direction. Rhett and Sarah Rose's story is sweet and heart breaking. This is a wonderful well written story!
Thank you to the Author and publisher for a chance to read this book. My opinions are my own.
Another winner in the Matchmaker series. Sara Rose has felt unloved and unwanted due to her mismatched eyes. Shunned by her family, she always felt less. When she is attacked by her sister’s fiancé, Sara Rose finds herself even more in need of an escape. The Matchmaker sends her to Ella Pointe to be a housekeeper for Rhett Rivers. An ultimatum finds Rhett in need of a wife, and Sara Rose in need of a husband.
Can Rhett’s feeling for Sara Rose convince her she is worth loving? A sweet love story overcoming hurt and damage. Family unit from the Tutheridge family provides support and acceptance
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion
Wow!! Another great addition to this series. Sara Rose will have you believing and appreciating the simple things in life! Once you see the world through her eyes you will view things differently. Her family has had her lived her life as a shut in, they believe her evil because of her eyes. She’s not even allowed to attend her own sisters wedding. Hidden away from everyone, even unable to attend school. Rhett has been a favorite of mine And I’m so excited to read his story. His patience and love for Sara Rose made me love him even more! I think this is my favorite book in this series!!!
From the moment I began reading this amazing book, I was captivated. Sara Rose and Rhett are two unique people who unknowingly need each other in their lives. Their family lifestyles growing up were so very different but they both experienced pain and suffering all the same. Together they find trust and understanding in each other. Neither of them have any unrealistic expectations of the other which lead to a solid friendship between the two. Sara Rose has a secret that she has been dreading to share with Rhett. Will he understand or reject her? How soon should she reveal her news to him? At the same time, Rhett has received some unexpected recent news that he must share with Sara Rose. He thinks he has an idea but not sure if it even is feasible. What should he do in order to save his beloved job? Where will Sara Rose fit into this new picture in his life? There is such a beautiful flow throughout this book! I highly recommend that you read, “A Match for a Disgraced Bride” to discover all these answers. I guarantee that you will fall in love with these two characters as quickly as I did. This is my most favorite book in this series so far. I am anxiously looking forward to the next book in this series!
Every layer Tess Thompson so skillfully adds makes this series better and better. This book took all of my emotions for a ride. It is a page turner and quite magical. Sara Rose, who should have been loved and cherished by her family, took a housekeeping job at the lighthouse across the country to escape her reality. Thankfully, she loves her job, the area, and the friends she is finally able to have. There is also that bit of mystery to solve. I just love it. I so highly recommend this series!!
I read this book as an ARC and wish to thank Tess Thompson and the publishers for the opportunity. The ideas contained in this review are strictly my own.
This is one of those stories where even though you know how it will end you’re enjoying it so much you can’t read it fast enough! I’ve liked each story and each couple in Tess Thompson’s Matchmaker series. But Sara Rose and Rhett are special. Both have overcome their past in ways that only they could understand. Sara Rose has been so mistreated by her family growing up she has no confidence in herself at all. Rhett is the most accepting man and wants to help her.
