Smexy Santa outfit? Check. Sleigh full of presents? Check. Reindeer who may or may not like me? Check. Knowing what I’m doing? Eh, I’ll get back to you on that.
When Mom goes into heat two days before Christmas—incapacitating my dads—that leaves me in the hot seat, delivering presents all over the world.
All is well, and I’m about to pat myself on the back for a job well done and get some well-deserved boozy eggnog when my attention catches on something at the bottom of the bag.
An envelope with the name of a pack elegantly scrawled across the front.
Pulling up my fur-lined big girl panties, I set off, and it’s a race against the sun rising to get the gift to the rightful owners before the rays crest the horizon.
Only when I get there, it turns out the gift is not what I was expecting.
It’s a gift for me in the way of three gorgeous alphas who catch me tiptoeing toward their tree after exiting the chimney.
And after one whiff of them, I know I’m fudged.
Because wouldn’t ya know it, they’re my fated mates.
But they don’t take kindly to a stranger breaking into their house. Even one wearing a Santa outfit.
And the whole fated mates business? Yeah, they don’t believe that either.
So now I’m doubly fudged, and all I want to do is get back to the North Pole and forget my mates even exist.
Santa's Knotty List is a prequel to a story coming Christmas 2024. It's a why-choose omegaverse romance, meaning Ivy, our Christmas-loving omega won't have to choose between her guys. This story is intended for readers 18+
Kotah Jean originally hails from the west coast but has officially become an east coast transplant. Her home life includes a husband, two daughters, and two dogs. She writes a little bit of everything, mainly whoever is screaming in her head at the time, demanding their story to be written. She loves to read Romances herself, ranging from contemporary to monster. Kotah has always loved to write but just recently decided to take a stab at publishing her work for everyone to read.
Unfortunately, I didn't realize that this isn't a full story. I overlooked the little part in the description, that explained that this is a prequel. Had I known that before, I wouldn't have read it yet, because Christmas 2024 is not around the corner. The year just started anew. And until then I will have forgotten this prequel and the content. I'm not even sure, if I will think to look up the full story at the end.
But for what it's worth it, I did like the premise of the story. I really like to read Christmas stories, though, I often end up reading them in January instead of December. But that's alright.
I enjoyed the twist on Christmas mythology spun into Omegaverse. So, we have Ivy Claus, daughter of the Santas (yes, plural since Santa Claus obviously is a pack effort), who take the job of Santa when her mother has a heat and therefore make her fathers unavailable. She does a good job, if not for one envelope at the bottom of the bag, that she apparently overlooked and had to deliver in a fast and furious move. It ends up with the reindeers bailing on her, and she is caught by the owners of the house the gift had to be delivered to. It turns out, they are her mates, but they don't believe in fated mates and Christmas. That's a twist in the plan…
So, Ivy is one funny package of an omega. Her cursing is hilarious and the way she digressed several times, too. Though, I have to admit, it was a bit annoying at times. She is a bit too innocent and sweet for my taste, either.
The guys... yeah, I did like Bryce for obvious reasons. He did believe her and was the only one of the three, who stuck to her side. River, when he isn't influenced by Tristan, is actually a decent guy and sees his mistakes. He tried to deny it at first, but even he realized that she is a gift and the mate, he always wanted. And then there is the mentioned Tristan, the leader, who's actions a lead by the misguided feelings of a past betrayal. He is adamant that Ivy is only there to hurt and destroy the pack.
Why I get where he, and therefore River, is coming from. The background story isn't a nice one, and I get the hurt they endured. Still, he and partly River treated her terribly. And she didn't even do anything to deserve it. She was judged over something, she couldn't influence. Tristan especially hurt her over and over again. Though, it's not really the worst I have read in a rejected mate story, but it definitely didn't endear him to me.
In general, I'm interested in seeing him grovel and redeem himself. Same with River. Bryce didn't really have to redeem himself, but I think he will try too. But as I said, I don't know if I will remember enough to look it up on Christmas 2024.
But if I come across it, I will totally read it. Just to get a conclusion to this.
Genre: Adult Omegaverse Spice: 2.5/5🌶️ * spice ratings are relative to other books in the same genre
Tropes & themes: MFMM omegaverse, prequel novella, FMC is the daughter of Santa’s pack, reluctant mates, scent match mates, full of holiday puns and goofiness, ends on a cliffy
Quick Blurb: After her mother goes into heat, preventing the Claus pack from delivering Christmas, Ivy is forced to don the Santa suit and deliver the presents. Unfortunately, the reindeer have other plans and abandon her at their last house. Unbelievably, the house belongs to her fated mates, a group of alphas that are too damaged to see the gift before them.
Thoughts: I went into this blind and honestly loved very minute. Yes, it was a little corny, but only in the best ways, because the FMC is Santa’s daughter after all. This is a prequel novella that proceeds the book coming around Christmas 2024, so it does end on a cliffy, without a concrete HEA. That being said, I cannot wait for the next installment.
Okay, this did not need to be in two parts, let’s get that outta the way.
Uhhh, started off decent, ig. Tristan was a fucking asshole, and yes there’s a reason, but like, damn. Damn.. River was also kind of an asshole, but he made even less sense. Whatever, it was funny as a whole, but ridiculous-funny, that’s by design. I hated the ending *because* it was in two parts and I sort of realized Tristan and River were kinda nothing-characters, who probably won’t get any substantial screen time until the sequel, so their development just kinda bottoms out at the end of this book
I love what this author does for the puns, I wish I took a count for how many times I snorted. LOL. Beyond that I like the omegaverse twist that was spun with Ivy and being Santa's daughter. But man her mates. What icicle heads! Not all of them were bad, but one of them in particular was the worst! What a Grinch he was, and then, unfortunately, one of the "nicer" ones made the switch to the Grinch side.
Ivy was an interesting FMC, I can't wait to get to know her better in the next book. And to see what happens between her and the guys. Can they be redeemed? Will she actually want them?
I love a rejected mate but Tristan may be the worst I’ve ever read and that’s saying something. Can’t wait to see how he pulls his head out of his peach in the next one to fix things. Just make your grovel good, Ivy deserves it after the pain you put her through!
Warning this ends on a cliffhanger and won't be released until Christmas of 2024. Either read it all then or skip entirely. It wasn't well written enough for that big of a pause.
I loved loved loved this one! No matter what anyone else says...this was literally the best Omegaverse I've read in a long time....that cliffy????? I need more, Kotah!
So I think the description of the book had more information about Ivy than the book did. It's a cute plot but I just didn't love it. The cliffhanger really was unexpected.
A lot silly with the Christmas puns and wintry swear words, but also super sweet at times and an intriguing omegaverse world to boot. I’d be interested to see how a few of the guys are going to redeem themselves with their actions in this story and the way things ended. Plus, with their intended destination, what trials will Ivy and the pack go through 👀👀
I enjoyed this fun take on a Christmas Omegaverse. Lots of drama for Ivy and the alphas, despite them being fated mates. The spice is on the low-medium side, and it does end in a cliffhanger.
Tristian is a fucking asshole I can’t believe he treated her that way and river was no better but Bryce disappointed me the most because he didn’t say anything.
