lucky enough to have someone in my life that made sure Amos got a copy to sign for me & an additional copy to have in the immediate as plans shifted quickly this year & he knew I needed it. just gifted that additional copy to a friend who needed it badly & cried tears of joy, after I spent time with it again, especially this year’s twelfth night. Amos’ art & school of bad printing & activism & advocation & voice & all is so damn needed by all.
(if you don’t know his work / much about letterpress printing & wonder why/if you need this beautifully designed book—you do &/or ask your library to get it—take some time to watch the free to view documentary about Amos’ years in the South, prior to his move to Detroit: PROCEED & BE BOLD! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=i251DDf...)
Amos is a national treasure. so grateful & continue to celebrate this amazing publication!!
an essential read. I loved this big book and all is stands for. Definitely see if you can borrow a copy from your library (or buy one!) this is the people's art.
A history and sampling show of the fantastic prints of Amos Kennedy. Beautifully put together and informative. Anyone who is a printer should be reading this.
If I could I’d take a half-star off because of the tiny type as the main text font. No fault to Kennedy— a book design problem.
Great book! It came into my library as a rotator and I just had to read it! Amos Paul Kennedy, JR is a true artist! He tells you he may not be able to run a program but he can do prints for it and he does them justice! I had to copy some of the pages to put them up on my walls as art and inspiration!
