"She's weird. He's weirder."The life of a unpublished author is something that Jolie Mason knows all too well. She's always wanted to one day have her work published, under a pen name of course. The only things she cares about is her grades and her family, anything else isn't important right now. What is important is getting into college. On the side, she waitresses at the very famous and popular pizza place for the kids at her school, Sal's Pizzeria . She wants to make her own way in the world and although it's awkward serving the popular kids in her school, she gets on with it.The stuff she writes isn't for the faint hearted, she writes romance. Raunchy romance. Nothing any of the kids in her school want to be reading, and she wouldn't like the reputation.Stevie Pritchard couldn't care less about grades, he wants to go on the road with his band and perform. Getting A's isn't going to get him on the stage. He's the school 'freak' as the popular kids call him. He's weird, outspoken and doesn't care about rules. But when his band is given the option of the lifetime to travel America with one of the biggest bands to date, Defending You Forever, and open up their show, Stevie finds himself at a standstill. His parents have said unless he gets his grades up, he isn't going on the tour. Suddenly, Stevie needs to find a tutor, and who better than Jolie Mason herself. The golden, quiet girl of the school. As he begins to approach her, a piece of paper falls from her notebook and Stevie picks it up, and the contents catches him off guard, it's a very raunchy scene between two characters, and Jolie's name is at the top of that piece of paper.Instead of going with his original plan and simply asking Jolie to help him, he decides to blackmail her. Telling her that if she doesn't help him pass the test at the end of the year that he will release this to the entire school and he won't be the only freak around.Jolie has to agree, much to her disgust and begins tutoring Stevie, and throughout the next few months, they form an unlikely friendship and soon to be ‘situationship’.But when a chapter from Jolie's book, the same one Stevie had, is released to the entire school. Jolie realizes all along, she couldn't trust Stevie and is a fool for thinking she could. What happens when she realizes Stevie kept his word? And the person who released the chapter is someone who was secretly hoping for her downfall?THIS BOOK IS 18+ AND NOT SUITABLE FOR YOUNGER READERS.
This book was so cute and perfect for fans of Eddie Munson or 10 Things I Hate About You. Both are loved by me, so I really enjoyed this book.
The MMC Stevie had all the outcast bad boy vibes who's a softie at heart, and the FMC Jolie was massively relatable and so funny whilst also curious and kind. I enjoyed how they are practically opposites but still get along (eventually) and that they both help each other in their own ways.
The storyline was pretty straightforward, Jolie is blackmailed by Stevie to tutor him, and so a romance blooms whilst both are dealing with their own problems and trying to achieve their dreams. Watching Stevie and Jolie warm to each other was sweet, but I did feel like it developed a bit too quickly with all the time skips throughout the book. I absolutely adored Stevie's nickname for Jolie, Kinky, since she writes spicy fiction.
Speaking of, there were a few spice scenes that were written really well, and were sweet whilst still being steamy. There were a few editing errors but I wasn't overly bothered. I liked the ending, the third act breakup was inevitable however the resolution was cute.
The book ended with a cute epilogue set 10 years later, and overall had a cute HEA. I'd definitely recommend this for a faced paced easy read that's sure to make you swoon.
Almost DNF. Lots of spelling errors. I liked the idea of the plot, I don’t personally think it was executed well. The chemistry wasn’t organic I felt really pushed into their “love”. I was really hoping for a good Eddie Munson based character and this just wasn’t it for me. Also I don’t understand how her writing smut was like the outrage, most high school girls read Wattpad. Neither one of them were outcasts or freaks.
Cute book honestly, few spelling mistakes but nothing distracting overall loved it- the Eddie Munson inspiration was spot on. The epilogue at the end was a nice touch too
