A nine-year old super agent with gadgets. Yawn

What's a child supposed to learn from this book? As long as you have gadgets, you'll be okay?
The bad guys look and sound like bad guys the moment you meet them. There's not even a challenge to find out 'who did it'.

Although not the best written book out there, I can see how this would appeal to a reluctant reader. Secret agents, high-tech gadgets, bad guys, cars, kids doing impossible things... what elementary age boy wouldn't like this? Simply written for early readers it meets a need for fast-paced high-adventure stories.
