Bitten under the Mistletoe

My life was perfect. I had my beloved wife and son close to me. And soon my daughter, Athena, alongside my in-laws would visit us for Christmas. What more could a man want? It was worth trading my human life to become a vampire. Then, the dreams started. But they weren’t my dreams. No, no. They were my wife’s. And to my horror, they were about my doppelgänger. And if this wasn’t disturbing enough, the dreams were of a… sensual nature. When I asked Petra about it, she said it was nothing to worry about.Except, the dreams didn’t stop. And I had to do something about it. No man, doppelgänger or not, can have my wife. Not even in her dreams.

All Lara's romantasy books are part of The Timekeeper Universe. A fantasy universe hidden within our own history, that goes into the nitty gritty of what humans are capable for love. And even though, at its core, the world reflects real emotions, it’s still a fantasy where you can lose yourself completely.

Besides writing, Lara and her husband enjoy parenthood in all its glory with their twin boys.

4.5! I will read everything by this author, and a Christmas themed book? YES. The twists of this tale was so not expected and if the summary doesn’t pull you in, the first chapter 100000% will! I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

ARC Review 🎄☃️
3/5⭐️
2/5🌶️

Bitten Under the Mistletoe was a quick, fun, Christmas holiday read. It includes all the quirkiness of having in-laws over, celebrating and creating new traditions, visiting old and new friends, etc.

I’ve only read Wings of Enchantment in this series, so I know very little about Petra and Gabriel. It was fun getting to know them a little more. I really need to get on top of reading the rest of the series though. The author thankfully put in a synopsis of the series before starting this story.

As much as I did enjoy reading this novella there were some things that made me either neutral or feel annoyed. The top annoyance was Gabriel. It might just be me, but jealousy annoys the heck out of me. Real life and fictional. Where jealousy was the main plot point it wasn’t for me. The other thing that was kind of a let down was the story didn’t really give me those feel good, Christmas-y, holiday vibes ya know? Maybe my brain was too focused on the jealousy aspect, but I didn’t get those vibes.

Overall I’m sort of neutral on this novella. There were good parts and annoying parts. It all equaled out in the end. The smutty last two chapters were 🔥🔥🔥.

Loved this book so much. I love Petra and Gabriel, their connection is clear to see in all the books.
The whimsy, olde worlde style of this book and the series, is a favourite of mine. They are classy, proper people, but beneath all that, they still have the baser instincts lol. And the way it’s written in this book, is outstanding. Loved the premise of the story, loved it all! You are awesome @Lara Bronson 🥰🥰

This was a fun christmas novella from Lara Bronson.
I had not read the Vampire Genesis Chronicals and felt that would have enhanced the story that little bit more.

It can be read on its own as everything that is needed to understand is explaned.

I really enjoyed the concept of bringing a modern christmas back in time. Spending it with family and friends, all different magical beings coming together to celebrate.

I am sure this is not a christmas Petra will forget anytime soon.

Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun quick fantasy christmas read

This was a sweet and cosy novella focussed on family and Christmas celebrations told from Gabriel's POV, and it was a fun and intriguing story.
There was some fun twists and steamy scenes, especially the final chapter in the throne room, and it was a journey of discovery for both characters.
Although it's part of the Vampire Genesis Chronicles and includes characters from Wings of Enchantment, this could be read as a fun holiday themed standalone.

"What could I say? I was but a man desperately in love with his wife."

I struggled to write this review as I truly do enjoy this author; however, I did not connect with this book as well as I have with some of her other work.

Bitten Under the Mistletoe by Lara Bronson presents a continuation of The Vampire Genesis Chronicles series in the form of a Christmas novella. Our MMC, Gabriel, is a vampire who encounters unsettling dreams involving his Timekeeper wife, Petra, and a doppelgänger (that is, himself, albeit a future, older self). While the idea of a Christmas novella initially held promise, the execution seemed a bit rushed, unsubstantial, and lacked depth. Sadly, it's as if the characters lost all of their development, almost regressing. Despite moments of potential intrigue, the narrative often appeared to repeat or rehash established elements rather than introduce new, authentic developments. Lastly, and unfortunately, the overall plot and character interactions might leave readers seeking a more engaging and nuanced experience. The whole "issue" (plot) is a non-issue and the entire novel is essentially one of a guy being jealous...of himself... who finally figures out that he just needed to better fulfill his wife. That said, I realize I may be more exacting in my critique then the average reader due to how invested I've been in the series and will say that, despite my comments, this is an easy, quick, holiday read for fans of the supernatural!

"No one can ever touch you. Not even in your dreams.”
It was so fun to visit this world again!
This is a perfect cozy Christmas novella with plenty of spice to keep you warm. I love Petra and Gabriel, their connection is clear to see in all the books and this one is no exception!
I love it when books are written from the MMC perspective! (men written by women🙃)
So in this one, we have Gabriel finally spending time with his family but something is happening with Petra, during the night, that's bothering him, and they need to figure out what to do about it. 😏 I just loved how jealous Gabriel is about you know who…🤫 and there’s a throne scene in the end! 🥵Damn!
Lara Bronson never seems to disappoint me. This Christmas novella is a continuation of the Vampire Genesis Chronicles Series, the book does include a recap on the series, so it contains spoilers. I really recommend you read the rest of the series before reading this novella, but you can read it as a standalone.
If you like vampires, this series is def one for you!
Bitten Under The Mistletoe is already available on Amazon!

I’m going to give this one a neutral three stars. I was given an ARC and went into it having not read any of the series, believing it could be read as a standalone. There is a recap of what happens in the previous books, however not having all the background information made it really confusing for me. I just felt there was so much information being thrown at me that I didn’t understand, that I couldn’t enjoy the interactions between all of the characters. At least not as much as I possibly could have if I’d read the other books as well.

There were definitely moments I did enjoy though. Having the in-laws around for holidays is always an interesting situation and this book was very accurate in how family members tend to behave.

The spice didn’t really come in until the last two chapters which was disappointing for me but what was there wasn’t too bad. I’d give it a 2/5 spice rating.

This is the second of Ms. Bronson’s works that I have read (ARC), and some of the characters from the other story are featured in this one. Honestly, I really just can’t get into the writing style. I find it very stiff at times, and it detracts from the flow of the story. This is a continuation of The Vampire Genesis Chronicles, and while there is a recap, I think it’s probably best to have read the earlier books because there were several times that I was just completely lost.

I think there are a lot of interesting characters, and the story line has some potential. If you’re a fan of Ms. Bronson’s, this one is sure to make you smile. And maybe keep an eye out for some mistletoe!

NOT GONNA LIE
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR GABRIELS POV SINCE THE VAMPIRE GENESIS CHRONICLES SERIES ENDED
When Lara announced that she was writing Gabriels POV
I screamed and cried.
This novella was just heartwarming and just filled my heart.
Gabriel is finally spending time with his family but something is happening with Petra during the night.
I just loved how jealous Gabriel is with you know who😏😏😂😂
I just laughed so hard but also understood him.
I can’t wait to see what the author has in store next❣️
‼️‼️Truly worth the read‼️‼️

Thank you Lara Bronson for an ARC copy of Bitten under the Mistletoe!

Rating: 2/5 ⭐
Spice: 2/5 🌶️

I really wanted to like this book, but I found I didn't know enough about the series to truly be invested in the characters. Even with the recap I found myself constantly confused on some major plot points that I'm sure we're covered previously. Not to mention the MMC constantly calling the FMC Milady, was a bit much (114 times in a 127 page book).

I did think this was a cute Christmas story, with some quirky characters, and I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the rest of the series first.

If you're not into "sexy", this novella probably isn't for you. Bitten Under the Mistletoe can be read and enjoyed on its own, but it helps if you've read the series. Lots of characters that you'll already be familiar with, and events that will make more sense.
My favorite parts of the story involve Petra's parents. Whenever they're around, I'm sure to laugh out loud.
There's not a lot of violence or mythical monster mayhem in this tale. It's Christmas after all. Even a strigoi is spared!
The main drama in this story is fueled by Petra's dreams.
All in all, it's another fun read from Lara Bronson.

Received as an ARC for a honest review 🌟

2.5 stars! I don’t feel like I can rate it higher because of not understanding the backstory and it being a novella.

I haven’t read any of The Vampire Genesis Chronicles and although the author does a good job of explaining plot points etc, I still felt a bit confused. Although it isn’t required to read the other books before this Christmassy novella, I think I would have liked to just to understand the backstories and characters more.

Not sure the writing style is for me but it was a very easy read, super Christmassy and family-orientated, and a touch of spice!

It is a wonderful novella, celebrating Christmas, family, and love.
When petras parents and daughter time travel to spend Christmas with them.
It's was a fantastic quick read with plot twists I didn't see coming.
Gabriel's jealousy was comical (jealous of himself), and I was giggling the whole way through, and the banter was also fantastic (trying to set Gabriel's mum up on a date)
It was beautifully written, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This was a quick fun Christmas themed read. It has all of the things you would expect out of the holidays. The in-laws, friends, cheer, new traditions, and more.
I'm only part way through Petra and Gabriel's story, so I am still learning more about them, but I liked seeing more about their world in this novella. I was happy to see Gabriel's POV. Here's to finishing reading their story soon.

*This review may get edited if needed later on after I finish their series*

ARC Review

I honestly wish I would started with Lara's previous books in the series.
I was able to put some pieces together but I was mostly confused. That is my fault though and my rating does not reflect the authors writing or story.

Will I be reading more from her, YES. The spice was great and knowing a bit more about the characters, I feel like my rating would be bumped up to a 4 star rating.

Watch out Lara Bronson, I will be coming to devour more of your books soon :)

Thank you Author Lara Bronson for another glimpse into the lives of Petra and Gabriel from the Vampire Genesis Chronicles. First of all,I love their love! Gabriel loves her so much and is not afraid to show it. The more mundane part of their lives was interesting to see, including meeting with the in-laws and the Christmas preparations. So grab your cup of egg nog and read this delightful story!

I have been wanting a book in the series from Gabriel’s POV and we finally got it in this book. There’s a bit of an overview of his and Petra’s romance but told from his POV. We also get to visit all the past supporting characters. It was a good quick read and just in time for the holidays!

I read all of Lara Bronson’s books and the novella did not disappoint. It actually exceeded all my expectations. When the in-laws entered the scene, I couldn’t stop laughing. And the throne scene was very hot. I didn’t expect such a turn of events. But I can’t complain, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I enjoyed hearing things from Gabriel's POV, however this novella was saccharine sweet and his obsession/insecurity became overbearing. Things picked up in the latter half and became more interesting, especially the evening of Christmas.

I received a complimentary copy of this book.

This Christmas novella is a continuation of the Vampire Genesis Chronicles Series By Lara Bronson. This book does include a recap on the series and contains spoilers. It is highly recommended to read the rest of the series before reading this novella. I chose to read this novella without reading the rest of the series first. The recap helped but there was still a part of me that needed to see more of this world before reading the novella. With that being said, I Really love Lara’s writing. And I definitely plan to read the whole series! This is a perfect cozy Christmas novella with plenty of spice to keep you warm. And the throne room scene?! Yes please! 4/5 spice

I still absolutely love these characters and this world. I can't wait to see if more comes from these characters.

This book goes back to historic times where Petra's parents and daughter Athena join them for Christmas. Gabriel takes his in laws to meet all of their friends. Everybody spends the holidays together and Petra's parents introduce everybody to current times holiday customs.

The premise is once again amazing. The characters were fun to watch as they interacted. I enjoyed the plot as well. However, I feel like it was really rushed. Being a little longer would have made this book so much better I think.
