"The smell of blood permeated the air
with its foul stench.
Death surrounded her.
Hopelessness filled her.
How did anyone think she had the ability to save them?"

Coco Teal is a nice YA fantasy tale. She's a 18 years old human... or so she thought.

There is a LOT of world building in this book. So many concepts I haven't seen elsewhere and I loved it. The world is very vast a full of magic.

One of my favorites scenes is when Coco plays with bubbles of magic at the table and then Danielle comes in and says we don't play with magic bubbles at the table. I mean, that's exactly what a young girl would do if she suddenly discovered she had magic powers!

But, I do have a bias and I absolutely love Danielle hehe. She's a fun and powerful character, but also elegant. I totally feel like I could be her and since she shares my name, hehe Can't help myself there 😁

I loved the affection between Coco and Asher. It was sweet and well sprinkled through the action.

There are so many cool concepts in this book: strange monsters in the river, awakened humans, versilark, people spreading false rumors, betrayals, and a beautiful sibling relationship.

I would recommend anyone who loves YA fantasy to read it.

A wonderful new world!

This is the first in Porter's newest series, where she has taken her "slice of life" charm and carried it into fantasy, and the world she is building doesn't disappoint.

The magic in this world is mysterious, changing events because it has a mind of its own. There's betrayals, sacrifices, and growing into one's inherent strength. Porter writes great characters, and this is no exception.

Looking forward to the next book.

Coco Teal
By: Rebeka Porter

As war continues to escalate between the Entals and Sorcerers across the realms, Coco Teal is unaware of what is waiting for her when she is taken from the Earth realm and is thrusted into a world where magic is real.

Coco must navigate foreign landscapes and listen to her instincts as she goes on a journey that will change the course of her life and those she cares about.

Porter’s writing takes you far away from what you know and drops you into a world rich in history, culture, and deceit. With vivid landscapes, immersive world building and characters that make you question their motives.

Eagerly waiting for book two!

What a fun read!

This is YA with an incredible amount of world building and fantasy elements. Porter does a beautiful job at creating a world very much outside of our own, while still holding on to the humanistic characteristics that make characters so relatable.

From bubbles and magic to deep betrayal, Porter takes us on a journey that forces self-discovery, discipline, emotionally charged scenes, and the occasional sweet moments between characters. This is a book that has brought it all.

Porter has a fun narrative voice to her that keeps readers engaged. She's brought to the table some unique concepts of fantasy that makes her book different, yet entirely relatable for fantasy.

Well done, Porter! Can't wait for the next one ♥️

Amazing writing.

I am almost without words. Not only was the story captivating I can almost visualize the characters. The book is so well written. I am in awe of the way Porter chooses to describe the people. I just want to see them. I want to see the different places. I want to see them use their powers. Could this be a movie please. I’m already looking forward to Book 2
