Gripping account of pivotal moments in the recent history of Everest expeditions from someone who has been there. Insightful, entertaining, heart wrenching, well told.
This is an excellent book for anyone interested in Mount Everest. Very well written by an amazing kiwi mountain guide. Also of interest for anyone who has read into thin air, as Guy was at Basecamp talking to Rob hall via radio as the tragic events in 1996 unfolded.
I first met Guy Cotter as Heli ski guide at Mt Cook in 1987 Cotter has had plenty of adventures since then with a a lot of death and mayhem. Cotter has convinced me not to climb Mt Everest!
My friend lent me this book and as I began to read it, I couldn’t put it down, it had me holding my breathe or cringing and feeling inspired. A weird combo of feelings which kept me wide awake. What a guy Guy is… this is the definition of living life on the edge.
