Welcome to Seaside Cove, where the ocean breezes mingle with the scent of freshly poured pints and the promise of a cozy Irish pub. In "Pour Decisions," the first installment of the captivating cozy mystery series, Katie Murphy, a spirited party planner, finds herself at the heart of a puzzling mystery on the Florida Panhandle.
With her uncle's dream of owning an Irish pub finally realized, Katie anticipates the lively atmosphere and cheerful camaraderie that will soon fill the quaint town. But her excitement is short-lived as she discovers that Seaside Cove is harboring more than just warm welcomes and friendly faces.
As construction delays and parking issues plague the grand opening of Paddy's pub, Katie's anticipation turns to concern. And when tragedy strikes with the sudden death of Mayor Trimble inside the pub, Katie's world is turned upside down. Her beloved uncle becomes the prime suspect, leaving Katie determined to clear his name and uncover the truth behind the shocking murder.
With each twist and turn, Katie finds herself drawn deeper into a world of deceit and betrayal, where nothing is as it seems. Join Katie as she navigates through the twists and turns of this quaint coastal town, unraveling clues and untangling lies. Will she unravel the tangled web of deceit before it's too late?
I enjoyed this book, it's a fun quirky cozy mystery with a touch of the Irish thrown in. This is the first book in the new series, so it does spend a bit of time introducing the characters and setting the scene, this did mean it slowed the investigation down but somehow it worked. I liked the characters and didn't need to spend too much time deciphering the Irish words. I did get annoyed with the uncle, as Katie was obviously trying to help him but he wouldn't tell her what the big secret was, still not to sure what it was even now. There was a few suspects to keep you guessing but more time was spent on getting the pub ready to open than talking to them, so I was surprised when the killer was revealed. Look forward to the next book. Katie takes a leave of absence to help her aunt and uncle get there new adventure up and running. As a party planner advertising the opening of a new Irish pub would be easy for her but the big opening is behind schedule after constant problems and delays. Then the mayor is found dead inside the pub at the bottom of the stairs and it looks like it might never open. Was it an accident it was it murder? If Katie hopes to get back to her own life she will have to prove her uncle didn't kill the mayor and the only way to do that is by finding the real killer.
Pick a verb tense, any tense, and stick with it. If you present exposition in one paragraph, don't repeat it in the very next paragraph. Pay attention to time continuity. When your heroine is awakened in pitch darkness at 5 a.m. , her new friend shouldn't show up 45 minutes later wearing sunglasses. In another early a.m. scene a character says he's hungry because he worked straight through lunch. And chek aurocorrect. The word is gist, not jest - kinda changes the tone when hou're talking about a death. Refuge, not refugee... there were more examples, but mercifully, I've $orgotten them.
Katie Murphy is party planner who is visiting with her uncle and aunt. Her uncle and aunt are trying to open a pub but keep experiencing suspicious delays. Adding to their difficulties, the mayor is found dead in the pub. Katie's uncle becomes a prime suspect. Katie decides to investigate to clear his name.
I enjoyed getting to know Katie and all the secondary characters. I enjoyed the Florida panhandle setting. I also liked Katie's party planning ideas. The killer was also not someone I guessed right away. The story was fun and entertaining. I look forward to reading more of the series.
This was a terrific cozy. I really enjoyed the characters and the fact that Katie's aunt and uncle were opening an Irish pub in the middle of a seaside town in America. The town was so cozy with lots of quirky characters and a couple of potential love interests for Katie.
When Katie's uncle becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation, Katie realizes she has to find the killer so her uncle's "pub dream" can become a reality.
I can't wait to see what's next for Katie.
Thank you to the author for an advanced copy of this novel. This is my honest review.
Katie drives from LA to visit her relatives in southern Florida. Her uncle is about to open an Irish pub in the small town. He is running into many unexpected delays that keep pushing out the opening. The mystery deepens with lots of twists and turns and a surprise ending.A fun read.
I loved this clever tale about Katie coming for a visit and saving the day...solving the murder, saving her beloved uncle from a frame job and ultimately finding the future path to bring her the happiness that had been lacking in her own future... just as Katie made good decisions, I made one in getting this book!
So glad this story came along when it did. I had just finished a series of books and finally had time to read Suzanne Bolden’s “Pour Decisions.” Because I couldn’t put it down!
It’s a really good story but the conversations between ppl are so still and formal and then will have a random southern or Irish slang thrown in. It’s too stiff, not how real people talk.
