Jeremy Lyons loves to help people. As a Lustre Lake Search and Rescue member, he’s pretty much living the dream—until he’s forced to take over his family's horse ranch.
Training horses is not his calling, and he struggles more with each passing day. Nothing peaks his interest, until his new neighbor and her adorable son come barreling into his life.
Arden Williams is secretive, snippy and sexy as hell. Everything about her sends Jeremy’s protective instincts into overdrive. And although she pushes him away at every turn, he’s determined to demolish the fortress surrounding her heart.
Hiding from a dark past, Arden yearns for a safe home for her son. A place where she can give him a childhood filled with friends and fun—not fear. She’s not looking for a man, especially not a tall, handsome cowboy with a matchmaking dog.
She needs to stay away from him. Men are nothing but trouble. Right?
Yet when a monster from her past appears in Lustre Lake, Jeremy is right there by her side–ready to fight for their Happily Ever Forever.
Thank you to Ellie Lukas and Happily Booked PR for the arc!
This was such a great, fast-paced novella! Despite how short it was, so much happened in this, and I really loved it. I don't usually go for insta-lust books, but the author does it so well, and I really enjoyed the chemistry between Arden and Jeremy! I also adored Jeremy and Theo's relationship, and seeing some of the characters from the previous novellas as well.
I'd definitely recommend checking the trigger warnings before reading this as it does deal with some heavy topics (spousal abuse, physical and emotional, among others), but overall I would recommend this novella! It's the third in the series, but it could be read without the previous books as well :)
Oh. My. Goodness. I cried happy tears for the last two chapters! What a beautiful story!
Arden our FMC, has been through h*ll and come out stronger although still scared her abusive ex husband might find where she and her son have hidden away. Thankfully, our MMC, Jeremy, SAR certified, fireman, cowboy on the side is there and instantly feels drawn to her. Between Arden's sweet, perceptive, resilient little boy Theo & Jeremy's big, gently hound dog, Blue we have our main cast of characters. Blue in a way acts as protector and harbinger for the story, as only an instinctive dog can do. There are also little cameos dotted throughout the story of past (and hopefully future?) Lustre Lake couples, pups, and personalities.
As this is a novella, the plot moves quickly and Jeremy, although not instant love, quickly falls for Arden and Theo, despite Arden's (understandable) initial hesitancy and prickliness. But our sweet but fierce MMC proves through small actions and gentle understanding that he's exactly what Arden and Theo need in their lives to heal.
Ellie Lukas' writing is flowing, her plot for this story had few to no leaps of logic, and the handful of spicy scenes were sensual, passionate, and filled with love from the get-go (and a teensy rope play!).
Toss in the laid back settings of the hills, lake, and this particular ranch in the Luster Lake area, and it's the perfect medicine to heal the trauma Arden and Theo have endured.
I received this as an ARC with no compensation other than getting to discover a wonderful new author in return for my honest review and I definitely recommend this refreshing, loving story! I can't wait to go back and read the first two books in the series.
This is book #3 in the Lustre Search and Rescue series, but can be read as a stand alone book.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Book dedication: To all the girls who wanted a horse AND a cowboy…. sometimes you don’t have to choose.
This was a great mix of sweet and spice. I love how protective Jeremy was, and was so sweet with Arden and her son. And the dog was amazing! I loved how he kept escaping to go to Arden’s house to snuggle with her son. He knew how much this family was hurting and wanted to protect them. I also loved how Jeremy’s family, and the whole town, welcomed Arden and her son. The characters were all amazing, especially Arden. She was an amazing mom and strong female character. Arden and Jeremy had great chemistry, and when things hearted up, the spice was great. I would recommend this one, I and look forward to reading more of the author’s books.

⚠️ TW: On-page domestic abuse (physical and mental)
A short fast paced spicy story. Arden is a newly divorced mom. Her ex-husband is abusive and possessive. She brings her son to a ranch in Lustre, looking for safety and security. Jeremy is the horse trainer at the ranch, and once he lays eyes on Arden, they both get more than they were looking for.
This story was easy to get into. This story has adventure, high intensity scenes, romance, and some trigger warnings. I loved the storyline and honestly would've loved it more without the lengthy graphic spice. This is the third book of the series, but I didn't feel lost by not reading the other 2 books.
Thank you to Ellie Lukas and her team for this free ebook. This review is 100% my own and honest opinion.
Wow! Another amazing book in the Lustre Lake Series! I love how animals are intertwined throughout the book. I hope to read about the other brothers finding their own love as well!
I loved everything about this book. The characters were so loveable and the story was very interesting and one that held your attention. Jeremy and his family were so warm and inviting and they made Arden and her son Theo feel welcome in their lives. Arden’s journey is one of heartache but Jeremy soon helps her move on with her life whilst trying to escape a very abusive ex husband. Although there was a mutual attraction, Arden was not sure of trusting Jeremy but that soon changed when Jeremy showed he was a good person. This book was the perfect way for me to spend my afternoon.
This was an Great book. This is book 3, in the " Lustre Lake Search and Rescue" series. 💓 Arden, Jeremey and her son Theo and can't forget Blue . Please check the triggers warning, before reading this book. I 💓 this book. I just couldn't put it down. This book has single mom, Protective Cowboy, Animal, he falls first, cries, leaving a bad situation, small town, hero, moon Magic Spicy, found family, kidnapping, trama, entertaining, unpredictable, last read, feelmad, laughing, HEA, and so much more. I Definitely, Recommend , this book. 💓 it.
The Lustre series are cute short reads with lots of spice! These books give enough of a plot to see the whole story and make you invested. This one was about a single mom who went through a divorce from an abusive husband leaving her home to find safety. Thus then meeting Jeremy who has the “who hurt you” trope. The story flowed beautifully while painting a picture of everyday struggles for some individuals to finding their happily ever after! I said before and I’ll say it again… Ellie Lukas knows her spicy scenes and I am never disappointed❤️🔥
This gave me Yellowstone vibes...but with a nice family instead of a crazy one. Impossible not to love this cowboy! Packs an emotional punch with the FMC's back story. Highly recommend.
I loved this book, it was an emotional read. I definitely felt the tears coming. Jeremy was just amazing. So sweet and protective. Arden was so strong. I loved her.
The spice was once again super hot! The plot was great and fast paced. I couldn’t put this book down.
I recommend all of these books in this series, they’re just amazing. <3
Summary (without spoilers) 📖 Arden is running from her past. With her young son, Theo, she finds herself restarting their lives at Lustre Lake. Living in a cabin on this rural ranch is just what Arden needs for a fresh start. In time she hopes that she can relax instead of constantly looking over her shoulder for her “monsters”. She just needs to focus on her son and adjusting to life with just the two of them without any distractions.
Jeremy is a Search And Rescue team member, a firefighter, and a horse trainer on his family’s ranch. He’s been kind of going through the motions and feeling like there’s a piece that’s missing in his life. While out on the ranch he stumbles across the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen.
Luckily for him, his dog Blue quickly attaches himself to this woman’s son and refuses to leave his side. Blue loves kids, but he’s never been this attached. Which makes Jeremy wonder why he’s so interested in Theo. Does he genuinely just love him? Or is he trying to protect him from something?
Whatever the reason may be, it’s given Jeremy a reason to make himself familiar to Arden and Theo. Feelings begin to grow and while Arden doesn’t tell Jeremy of her past he feels like he needs to protect her and Theo.
Will Arden let her guard down for Jeremy? Will her “monster” from her past reappear and put her, Theo, and even Jeremy in danger?
My Thoughts 💭 I LOVED THIS BOOK. This is the first Ellie Lukas book that I’ve read and plan on reading the first books in this series!
Keep in mind that this is a shorter read, because of that events seemed to progress quicker than normal. Which is no fault to Ellie, I’m the kind of reader that reads purely for enjoyment. If I love a book I have no problem rating it five stars based on just off of how it makes me feel!
Anyways, this story is giving Nicholas Sparks but with a lot more spice. (Meant to be a compliment, his books are guilty pleasures of mine).
I loved everything about Jeremy. He was blunt and was always upfront with his feelings towards Arden but also made it known that he was willing to wait for her, for however long that may be. From an outsider’s perspective Jeremy is a rough and rugged blue collar man, but the reader gets an inside look at how wholesome he truly is.
Arden is such a badass mom! She’s went through a lot to keep Theo safe and to uproot your entire life and start fresh is something commendable. While she has her moments of self doubt, I love that she didn’t let anyone else see that. She exudes confidence and self worth and we LOVE that in a female character.
Theo reminded me so much of my son. His perceptiveness, empathy, as well as ability to befriend anyone are just a few qualities that I really loved about him!
I loved all of the dogs that were in this story as well. If you’re a dog lover you should definitely read this series! This was an easy read in the best way!
I’m so grateful to be given a chance to read this as an ARC! Ellie, thank you so much for trusting me to give you an honest review!
Arden, freshly divorced from her abusive husband, seeks refuge at Lustre Lake with her seven-year-old son, leaving her friends and family behind, in hopes of safety. Little did she expect to encounter Jeremy, her ruggedly handsome cowboy neighbor, who works on his family's ranch. Despite Arden's reluctance for romance or male attention, the undeniable connection between her and Jeremy becomes increasingly palpable. However, when Arden's ex-husband tracks her down, she faces the ultimate decision: continue fleeing or stand her ground and fight. What a surprise! Anticipating a typical romance, I found myself immersed in a gripping thriller, teeming with a spectrum of emotions. Ellie Lukas has truly elevated her storytelling prowess. From the very first lines, I was spellbound, unable to set the book down. If I hadn’t started so late at night, I would have devoured it in a single sitting—I simply had to know what would unfold next! With the addition of a charming cowboy, a meddling bluetick coonhound, and a tight-knit community of characters, Lukas crafts a captivating tale. Lukas skillfully addresses weighty themes within this narrative, delving into not only domestic abuse but also the struggle to shield one's child from it. Arden's journey was so well written; her emotions felt vivid and raw, allowing me to empathize with her every step of the way. Lustre Hidden marks the fourth installment in the Lustre Lake Search and Rescue series, and having followed the series from the start, I can confidently declare it my favorite thus far. I eagerly await the next chapter in this series!
When Arden Williams flees an abusive relationship with her young son, Theo, all she wants is to have a safe space for them to heal. That place is a cabin nestled in picturesque Lustre Lake. She’s definitely not looking for romance, but you know what they say about best laid plans…
Her new neighbor, Jeremy Lyons, is part of the Search and Rescue team and has just taken over his family’s horse ranch. He’s immediately drawn to her, and while he doesn’t know her past yet, he feels the need to protect her from the start. She can’t deny the attraction to this sweet and attentive man. It doesn’t hurt that he’s got that super sexy rugged thing going for him.
They’re both looking for more, even though neither realizes exactly what. But Jeremy’s connection (and that of his trusty pup Blue) to Arden’s son is impossible to deny. As a single mom, there’s nothing more swoon worthy than when you meet someone who just fits like a missing puzzle piece.
While this is longer than previous Lustre Lake reads, it still moves at a fast pace. The characters immediately found a place in my heart and the kid vibes are absolute perfection. Of course there’s plenty of spice; Ellie knows how to expertly heat up a page! There’s also a heavier feel to this book than her others, which made it even more intense and relatable. She flawlessly captured all the emotions. Cowboys aren’t usually my thing, but this one can lasso me anytime.
I read this in one sitting, ate it up like a bag of potato chips!! If you’re a fan of Nicholas Sparks type movies, read Ellie Lukas!! This steamy small town cowboy romance was so good, and I don’t even have a cowboy kink!! I could see Lustre Lake being a TV series honestly
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Arden is trying to escape her abusive ex-husband (complete trash) and with her son Theo in tow she moves into the vacant cottage on a small town ranch. As soon as Jeremy lays eyes on her, he’s entranced. Though he doesn’t know her dark past, he does everything for her and just gives her all the right kind of attention. We love his check ins and constantly making sure she’s comfortable with how they’re progressing! He’s attentive, observant, goes slow, and he leaves her roses and calls her Sugar… stop!! how fricken cute is that?!
Her dark past does come back to haunt her but now with Jeremy by her side, her and Theo have everything they need to banish it for good. I am so happy with how this ended and the epilogue had me in little weepy tears. I feel like a sap over here but trust me, this one feels so good to read!
There are some steamy scenes, some rope play, nothing too wild but perfectly sexy. There are also a ton of dogs and horses so that’s a huge bonus! For being a shorter story, it really developed plot and characters and it didn’t feel like it was a too rushed!
Tropes: single mom, neighbours, protective MMC, he falls first, who hurt you, matchmaking dogs, cowboys
Welcome back to Lustre Lake! I love this series of novellas and all the characters who live near Lustre Lake!
Arden was looking for a safe place to raise her son and ends up in a cabin on Jeremy’s family ranch. They have one hell of a meet cute (involving his wardrobe 😉) and he is immediately drawn to her. His dog Blue is a bit of a matchmaker and does his best to get these two together. Arden is understandably cautious and isn’t going to trust easily…
This was a great, quick read! Arden was so strong and a fierce protector of her son. My heart broke for them but was also proud of them for living their lives. Jeremy was this perfect mix of cowboy/cinnamon roll/protector. Theo was such a sweet son and I loved his relationship with Blue!
We get to visit my favorite bakery and Hotdog and Winnie make appearances too! It id always fun to catch up with these characters!
If you are looking for a spicy novella I definitely recommend picking this up!

Arden Williams may be sexy as sin but she wants nothing to do with any man, except for her absolutely adorable son . Well that is until Jeremy Lyons’ match-making dog brings the two of them together . Arden tries to push Jeremy away every chance she gets, but there is no budging the tall, handsome, FIREMAN COWBOY out of her life . Especially when a dark blast from Arden’s past comes around .. Jeremy will do anything to protect the two of them .
WOW how is this my first Ellie Lukas book !? Such an amazing story with great flow, exceptional small town vibes, romantic suspense + such relatable characters . This book has an immediate soft spot in my heart because my son’s name is also Theo . I mean I bawled my eyes out the last two chapters of this book ! I need to go back + read the first two in this series immediately !!!
This is book 3 in the Lustre Lake Search and Rescue series + it can be read as a complete stand alone .
This book was given to me for honest review from the author .
Jeremy Lyon's, team member of Search and Rescue, has taken over his family's ranch, even though it's not exactly his calling. When a new tenant moves into one of his family's cabins, he can't help but be enamored by her. Arden Williams keeps to herself and seems to be keeping secrets, but Jeremy is determined to figure her out. Arden is just looking for a safe place for her and her son to start over. She wants her son to have friends and a happy life. She's tired of living in fear. She's not looking for a relationship, especially not with a certain cowboy. When a threat from Arden's past shows up, Jeremy proves to Arden that he will be right there by her side, no matter what.
Lustre Hidden makes you feel all the feels. This one is just so good! Arden has had such a tough time with her ex-husband, and she is just looking for a fresh start for her and her son. Along comes hot, sweet, caring, cowboy Jeremy to sweep her off her feet and treat her and her son the way they should be treated. To top that off, he has the most precious dog who also wants to love and protect them. A warning there are triggers for past domestic violence in this book, so please keep that in mind before reading.
Ellie Lukas brought the heat with the 3rd installment of the Lustre Lake series! This book features Jeremy, the oh so hot cowboy. Arden, on the run from her psycho ex, and her son Theo, who is an absolute gem. Arden was just looking for a place to hide from her ex who is a cop and wants nothing more but to keep Arden as his punching bag.
Never in a million years was Arden expecting to meet a man and a dog, Blue, that would make her begin to see that not all men wanted to use a woman as a punching bag. Arden has a special skill with horses and training them and Jeremy begins to see that she is a truly magical and strong woman.
Heartache, excitement, and love fill the pages of this book and I am here for it! There is a scene between Theo and Jeremy that no one can keep a dry eye to when reading it. It looks like Lustre Lake is trying to use some of it's new moon magic to create another connection, but not before Arden's ex tries to take her down one last time. I cannot wait for book 4 to see what magic Lustre Lake brings next!
Relatively short, high spice with some good k!nk! Medium suspense compared to the length of the book, but it resolves fairly quickly. Book 3 in the Lustre Lake Search and Rescue series, interconnected standalone. Arden and her son Theo are trying to hide from a dark and dangerous past, and they land in Lustre Lake on a ranch that’s owned and operated by Jeremy’s family. Jeremy is a search and rescue team member who is helping to train horses on his family’s farm (not by choice). Arden just wants to have a safe place to land and for her son to be happy. Is Lustre Lake (and Jeremy) that place for her? I loved this book! My favorite character in the book is Jeremy’s trained rescue dog Blue. That may sound funny, but Blue is the biggest sweetheart with fantastic instincts, and really made the story what it was. Would it have been a wonderful story without Blue? Absolutely. I’m not saying anything negative about the other characters. But something about Blue just struck a chord with me. I can’t say too much without spoiling it… just know that if you’re in the mood for a short, spicy, sweet book with mild suspense, the ultimate protector MMC, and an FMC with a traumatic past, then this one’s for you! As always, check the TW if you need to. ❤️
Ellie Lukas has done it again! I absolutely loved Lustre Hidden. It has serious undertones of second chances at love, starting over, and freedom. I was not expecting to feel so protective over Arden, a single mother who is starting over with a young son trying to find peace and safety. Of course she finds herself on a well established family horse ranch full of handsome trainers including Jeremy who is also part of the town’s local search and rescue team. Jeremy is immediately drawn to Arden and her son and quickly realizes that he’ll do anything to keep them safe (& in his life). Full of spice, cowboys, and protective MMC. What’s not to like?!! I didn’t expect there to be some tense emotional parts. An incredible story and I can’t wait to read the next book in the Lustre Lake Search and Rescue series.
This book gives you all of the feelings. Sad to happy and everything in between. My first Cowboy romance was definitely one for the books. Ellie wrote the cutest story with a caring, Prince Charming like MMC and a strong heart FMC trying to rebuild her life.
Search and rescue cutie #3 did not disappoint. I cannot wait to see where Ellie takes the rescue hotties stories.
I really loved Jeremy and Ardens story. Arden and her son Theo move to the Lyons Ranch for a fresh start after leaving an abusive marriage. She is a very nervous, anxious, and over protective of her son. (As she should be after recovering what she went through)
Jeremy is a firefighter, search and rescue team member, and cowboy. He and his very intuitive pup, Blue, are infatuated with Arden and Theo from the get.
♡"Arden’s hand darts out, gripping mine tightly. Her small hand fits perfectly in mine, smooth and soft but surprisingly strong. And it’s like it has always belonged there."
I enjoyed all the characters from Tilly and Hot Dog to Blue and Cute Lil Carrots!
♡“Sugar, I’m gonna make you so addicted to me you never even consider leaving,” he promises

I want to thank Ellie and HappilyBookedPR for the opportunity to read this early in exchange for thoughts and opinions.
Book three in the Lustre Lake Search and Rescue series. Jeremy is a search and rescue member. He loves his job. His dog is his best buddy. Now she’s working with horses in his family ranch. When he gets a glimpse of his new neighbor his heart rate goes off . She’s sassy with an attitude. It doesn’t help that his dog want to be with her kid. I think he wants to play matching. lol I know but he’s too cute not to wonder. Arden is running from her ex husband. She literally ran for her life. Now she thinks she safe. She doesn’t want to fall for Jeremy. He makes it so hard not to do. He spends time with her kid. He takes it slow whenever it comes to her. Jeremy falls hard but he knows she has secrets. Once he finds out what they are. Nothing will stop him from protecting her mad her son. The screen in this book are hot and steamy. You won’t put it down till the last page .
Thank you for sending me this ARC! 🫶🏻 My reviews are always honest ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ This Novella was so sweet and exactly what I needed!! 💖 I absolutely adore single parent romance and this one specifically had everything I loved in it! Theo was such a sweet kid who was so smart for his age. When he was getting his first ridding lesson with Jeremy and he asks Jeremy not to punish his mom if he messes up just to punish him instead, I started crying 😭😭 Poor kid had to grow up so fast before his mom was able to escape his dad. I’m so glad that Jeremy was able to teach him that not all men are like that and that he would never hurt him or his mom. 😭💖
Ellie Lukas’ Lustre Hidden will be out April 1st! It’s the third book in the Lustre Lake Search and Rescue series and features a swoony cowboy and a single mother. Preorder this steamy novella today!
A single mom and a cowboy romance with a touch of suspense. The book was well written, and I loved the connection between Theo and Jeremy, which was something Theo needed given that his mom was trying to protect him and her from her abusive ex.
Arden was a character traumatised by her previous relationship and has a great need to figure out a way to live her life without letting her fear rule her and her son's life. Jeremy is a cowboy and Arden's new neighbour who has a dog who Theo loves, and I enjoyed reading whether Jeremy could help Arden get her life back on track and give her son the life he deserves.
Lustre Hidden by @ellielukaswrites is the the third book in the Lustre Lake Search & Rescue Series. I first want to start off by saying that I really enjoyed Jeremy and Arden’s story. I’m not typically a fan of the single mother trope, but it was written really well, that I didn’t mind it. Overall, I felt very connected with the characters and their story and I honestly wanted more. I know that story was supposed to follow Arden’s story more than anything else, but I wish we would have gotten more background on Jeremy and his life before Arden. Without giving away spoilers, this book could be very triggering to some readers. Personally it didn’t trigger me, but I could see it being a rough read for others. Ellie does put a trigger warning at the beginning of the book. I did enjoy this quick read, and will probably read the other books in the series as well.
Thank you to @happilybookedpr for my ARC of Lustre Hidden!
This is the third book in the Lustre Lake Search and Rescue series but for me this is the first book I have ever read by Ellie Lukas which wasn't a problem at all.
Lustre Hidden was a quick read for me since it had "only" 170 pages and had me hooked from the very beginning with a great story and after a short time reading the story contains some spicy scenes.
We have a FMC who divorced her husband that abused her and decided to leave their hometown with their son to keep them both safe. The MMC is a friendly, single and good looking horse trainer that is drawn to the FMC for some reason.
For me this book turned out to be an emotional read that had me feeling all kinds of emotions and now I can't wait reading the previous two books in this series and longing for the other two that is coming out in the future.
This is book 3 of the Lustre Lake Search and Rescue series. All books can be read as standalones.
Arden arrives in Lustre Lake with her 7 year old son, to hide from an abusive husband while seeking solace and leaving her family and friends behind. Last thing she expected was to find rugged cowboy Jeremy.
Jeremy and Arden are such a hot couple. The chemistry between these two are off the charts even though Arden is pushing back Jeremy at every turn. Jeremy is sweet and over protective though not overbearing while Arden is fiercely independent and strong though she knows when she needs help.
I absolutely loved Arden's strength and determination to do everything to keep her son safe. The challenges she put up with just shows us what kind of woman she is. The fiercely over protectiveness of Jeremy shows what kind of man Arden needs. And while she compares Jeremy to her past, she quickly learns that he's much safer and easier to trust.
I'd recommend this book to anyone who loves a good cowboy romance with a fiercely independent woman, and a quick read.
This series keeps getting better and better. Arden is hiding from her abusive ex-husband. Her only goal in life is to keep herself and her son safe. When she lands in Lustre, she just wants to keep her head down and fly under the radar but she doesn't go unnoticed. The sense of rightness Jeremy feels when he sees her for the first time. He knows he will do anything to make sure Arden and her son, Theo are safe and with him forever. His dog Blue is totally on board with this plan.
This book is by far my favorite book of the series. Arden is the epitome of strength. She doesn't let her experience with her ex-husband taint what she's building with Jeremy. Jeremy is her soft place to land and the home she dreamed of finding plus he wants to tie her down literally and figuratively. 😏😏
