I was in the mood for something sexy and depraved and BOY did this deliver. I’m no stranger to the extreme horror trilogy of Triana, Beauregard & Volpe having read a lot of their work but they really out do themselves in this collection. It was also my first read by Smith and I was impressed. Triana’s short story fucked me up. Like made me nauseous and I had to take a few breaks. A read hasn’t done that to me in a long time so I appreciated it.
Each story was unique and absolutely deranged. If you’re in the mood for something extreme then i definitely recommend this collection. The trouble is they are hard to get their hands on. This collection is available on The Obituaries website in a bundle though this on its own is sold out. I’m definitely planning on picking up the other editions.
These boys brought the HEAT!! And the stench, and the fluids, and the screams and all the delicious gore you expect and want from extreme horror. People of the books, may I present to you a smorgasbord of goopy delight? Dive right in, the blood is quite warm. Just stay clear of the bits and pieces floating about. 😏
1. THE SICK PLACE by Bryan Smith - how my face went from frowning when I thought the pet was an animal to evilly smiling when I realized he was human… lemme tell ya….😆. This is pretty much how I see hospitals anyway so what a fun ride. #teammicole
2. LIVE NUDE HORROR by Kristopher Triana - simultaneous feelings of EW and YAY! Literally winced and felt my face wrinkle in disgust while my own anxiety increased with a character’s. I hate myself for loving this story too much. #grossanddelicious
3. THE BETRAYERS by Aron Beauregard - it’s a terrible time to be a baby kangaroo. I swear between this and a few movies, I never want to go to the jungle. Somebody pass me that (war) fork please. #fuckmax
4. DOPEFIEND by Daniel J. Volpe - phew, my first Volpe read and um… thank you? One particular scene with a bum was fine until the skedaddle up the nose. FFS. Fine, I’ll buy your books. #cherryflavored
❗️Also, @shereadswithcoffee and I both have our obituaries written in this issue. Aren’t you just so ever curious how we both die? 😏 Mine is eerily all too realistic and I think I’ve seen my future. YOLO? 🤷🏻♀️
Please note this is EXTREME horror and not for everyone. But if it IS for YOU, then go see if some are still available because these are sooooo fun! Go to obitshorror.com - happy hunting!
I swear, with every issue the stories get more gory, disgusting, and flat-out distasteful (this is meant as a compliment FYI). I absolutely love Beauregard, Volpe, and Triana as authors and I'll read anything these 3 write. And when these 3 get together for their Obituaries, magic (and absolute filth) appears on paper and this is exactly what I live for. And issue #5 is so far my favorite (temporarily, because, and let's be honest here, their next one is probably going to top this one).
Three excellent stories and a story by guest author (and legend) Bryan Smith, that will make you uncomfortable, maybe a little nauseous, and maybe, just maybe a little happy (if you are into this kind of filth lol).
Also, thanks to Daniel Volpe for making me almost throw this book against the wall due to the scene with the dog.
The obituaries have such a strong hold on me and my stomach! this specific book had me actually gagging. this one for me was the hardest to read (in the best way possible) yet. it was gory, gruesome, and downright gross. perfect read for anyone who wants to genuinely push their limits!
Another excellent book in the Obituaries series by some of my favorites in the genre. These stories always push the limits of horror and I can’t never get enough.
