대한민국 만화대상 특별상 수상작. ENA 수목 드라마《낮에 뜨는 달》원작 웹툰. 웹툰《낮에 뜨는 달》은 2013년에 네이버에서 연재를 시작해 2017년 8월 총 206화로 완결된 작품이다. 연재 당시 시대극 부문 1위를 했으며, 2023년 누적 조회 수 7억 뷰로 시간이 지날수록 입소문이 나면서 연재 종료 후 몇 년이 지난 현재도 많은 사랑을 받고 있다. ‘2017 대한민국 만화대상 특별상’을 수상하여 작품성과 대중성을 모두 인정받았다.
독자를 움직이는 완성도 높은 이야기, 시대적 배경을 잘 살린 의복과 문화, 문학적인 대사, 캐릭터의 감정을 섬세히 드러내는 그림체, 냉혹하면서 인간적인 면모를 지닌 ‘나으리’ 도하의 인기는 작품을 열렬히 지지하는 강력한 팬덤을 만들어냈다.
2017~2018년《낮에 뜨는 달》1~4권이 출간된 이후 5년 만인 2023년 5권이 출간되었다. 이에 맞춰 1~4권 표지를 헤윰 작가가 새롭게 그린 표지 일러스트로 꾸몄다. 5권은 헤윰 작가가 공들여 원고를 수정, 보완해 출간에 최적화했다. 연재분의 감동을 독자들의 책꽂이에 고스란히 전달하기 위해, 책의 형태에 맞게 정성을 들인 작품이다.

Can't really explain why I continued reading this until the end because I didn't connect with the characters or the plot.

Review for the original webtoon.
Spoiler alert for the ending.
I knew how it will end, I could feel it, yet still I was hopeful it will not. I knew he has to let go and find peace, and on one hand I am happy for him.
But on the other hand, Doha and Young-Hwa were the best couple. I don't ship her with Min Oh at all, I don't care who his ancestors are.
The MC from the past tho, I really do hate her. It feels like Doha did everything he could, and with how he was brought up, with all these aristocrats around, he did really well. Most of the time he could only choose from two bad options. It was ruthless back then. Ffs, he did not even know how to talk gently, that's how little affection he received previously in life.
Our MC(Halita/Rita or whatever her name is) was really naive about everything and she just made everything worse. A hypocrite that grew up privileged, or rather a brat that was always spoiled by her loving family. So ofc she would not be able to understand Doha.
Idk what she was expecting from the deal they had(about the rotten rope), but she always seemed so surprised nonetheless. She keeps being teary-eyed, keep worrying about him, fussing and pressing herself into him, so he really did fall in love with her and thought she did fall for him. But idk if she was just projecting her fear of losing another person on him and did not care for him, because how she could kill him like that, I will never understand. I really do hate that part. She should have died by the fall, but at least she did suffer afterwards. There were options how to stop all this killing(not to mention the people were sent there to kill you, why are we drawing the line now??), yet she decides that the best way how to stop it is by killing HIM?
I will never recover.
