“Your death will be beyond belief.”It’s been ten years since the Clinton Memorial Hospital massacre. The town may have recovered, but for Charlie Bonner, the nightmare never ended.Trapped in an abusive relationship with Susan, her insane psychic ex-girlfriend, Charlie’s life is a catalog of misery and sadistic torture. She prays for death, but when it finally comes, Charlie realizes her problems are only beginning. For Susan has followed her into the afterlife, crazed with vengeance. With the stage set for all-out war, Charlie must scour the darkest corners of her mind to find help, before Susan destroys her... forever. From the demented mind of Carl John Lee, PSYCHIC TEENAGE BLOODBATH II is an epic extreme horror love story, brimming with sex, romance, and hideous ultra-violence.
A New York-based screenwriter, Carl John Lee has written a bunch of movies you've either never seen, or would never admit to seeing.
Inspired by Roger Corman and the golden age of exploitation films, Lee probes deep into the filthy underbelly of America, contrasting his bleak worldview with dark humor.
He has three dogs, two cats, and not a shred of dignity.
This is everything the first book was, but a bit more fantastical! The gore is insanely graphic and imaginative, the depravity nonstop, the violent imagery relentless. It’s also just as h*rny as the first, with lots of sexual themes.
This one does have a lot more SA and r*pe, and overall isn’t as fun as the first one was, but overall it was solid. It did have me tearing up a bit which I was NOT expecting (🌈), but I will list some TW’s below for those that need them! This is extreme horror and if you’ve read the first you kinda know what you’re getting into, but beware the TWs themselves might be upsetting to read.
TW’s: Violent SA and r*pe (including the use of instruments/weapons and sexual torture), infantic!de, excrement and bodily fluids (vomit, urine, eyeball fluids, pus and infection), body horror (pretty much everyway a body can be twisted and torn), homophobia, confinement, emotional abuse, lots of use of the C-word, general sexual content (there’s some consensual sex and general sexualization, but most of it is non-consensual and gross+predatory), dogs attacking people and mentions of dogs passing (no graphic animal abuse).
Disgusting, depraved, demented but surprisingly heartfelt😅 Some scenes are permanently seared into my brain 💀 How does one conjure up such scenes and imagery?? Diabolicalllllllllll
The first Book "Psychic Teenage Bloodbath" was one of the best books I read this year. When I learned, that there will be a sequel I was not that excited, because I really don't think the story needs a sequel. But, here we are.
It is a really good book, but I think the predecessor is better and more fun. The story focuses sole on the three main characters, which totally makes sense, due to the events in the first part of the book. But this means the slasher like concept of the first Book does not work here. And I think this concept of killing a lot of characters off was the main reason for the fun in the first Book (and also the creativity of the kills). This is missing here. The violence mostly goes against random people unimportant to the story and the three main characters of course. But there are some nice ideas here as well. The violence is rather tame for extreme horror.
The story is very solid, had some interesting ideas and twists. Especially in the first half of the book the reader experiences a great powerlessness, you feel absolutely helpless and dreadful.
I really liked the integration of certain animals, this was a nice touch. Also the ending was heartbreaking, I would have never expected something like this in an extreme horror novel. Still, it is my favorite part of this novel.
Carl did a fantastic job with this sequel!!!!! The imagery was absolutely insane! A bloody good time.
Ten years later….Charlie is still with Lynette (rather Susan since she possessed her after all—-read the first book) Charlie has been Lynette’s (Susan’s) puppet for so long now. Unable to get rid of her for good, Charlie does something reckless. So reckless that she finds herself in another dimension *where she might possibly be dead* she finds the real Lynette and together they find a way to defeat Susan for good this time.
If you enjoyed the first book, you’ll definitely LOVE this sequel!
I actually liked this a lot more than the first... The writing really stepped up it was very campy, gorey, emotional💔the ending was so tragic for no reason😭 definitely one of the top extreme horrors I've read there were no boundaries on this!!
oh my godddddd…a sequel that wasn’t even needed but despite all the odds, it surpassed its original!
susan was genuinely such a scary villain. i would want a story just in her head cuz i couldn’t get enough despite wanting her to just GO AWAY. the writing definitely stepped up and it trumps the writing of every other extreme horror i’ve read so far. and the horror hits so much more because you genuinely care about the characters. you want charlize and lynette to make it out so badly and that ending breaks you more than any gore before. like it’s one thing to gross you out but to genuinely hit. UGGH!!! honestly my fav lesbian horror media i’ve ever encountered and some of my fav gore descriptions ever. i wish this could be a movie. the potential!!!!
Thank the stars for Good Dogs. Consider this my review for both books in the series. Wow, where do I even begin? First of all, this was technically my first splatterplunk and I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy it very much. Boy, was I wrong. I loved every second of this. As someone whose very first horror movies were 1980’s Prom Night and 1976’s Carrie (I’ve always loved a theme) this had me kicking my feet and giggling like a little girl. Just delightfully terrifying, I could hardly put it down. I’m also a bulldog owner currently and had one as a childhood dog. So, obviously Princess had me just sobbing. Like actually ugly crying.. But anywho. I fell in love with Charlie and Lynnette. I’m a big fan of untraditional love stories and this is absolutely one of them. As always, I loved the writing. The way we’re able to develop such a connection with these characters in such a short span of time, is very commendable. This story is saturated with gore and viscera, it’s bursting with it actually. Apocalyptic levels of just disgusting and vile acts, but isn’t that what we’re here for? I’m still coming off the “high” from reading these books, I read them both in pretty much one sitting. I can’t rave enough honestly! Most definitely a memorable read.
WHAT BOOK DID I EVEN READ!? I am so glad and so relieved that I am finally free from this fucking godforsaken book. I was convinced for so long that I knew what was going to happen at the end of this book and in hindsight what I had thought would happen would've been better. I really cannot believe that this book is not only the sequel to but came out of the same author has Psychic Teenage Bloodbath. If Puppet by Ryan J. Powell hadn't convinced me already, this definitely is enough reason to never ever touch a sequel ever again.
Basically please read Psychic Teenage Bloodbath (1) and then pretend this book doesn't exist. :)
Some interesting ideas and execution, the gore and sheer visceral horror on page was well described and incredibly disturbing as i would expect from the genre, but whereas the most shocking moments in the first book came near the end, this hit them earlier and ended up leaving me kinda desensitised afterwards, not helped by the fact that in it felt like a series of set pieces after the 30% mark that felt thinly strung together and lacked some of the heart and narrative drive of the first book.
Ultimately, I believe a fan of Splatterpunk or extreme horror may well really enjoy this which bumps the score, but for me i wish I has stopped with the first book
Echoing my review of the first book, the one was just as insane - if not more! Again, pretty much every trigger warning under the sun.
This hit silly levels to me, which maybe was intentional???? A clunky story that didn’t feel as fleshed out as the first but still fairly enjoyable. 2.75 stars if I could.
I need some brain bleach after these two books!!

I have to say I liked this even more than the first one. It was icky but then actually really heartfelt & sweet too?! “For they were indeed Good Dogs” 🌈
It has been 10 years since the Clinton Memorial Hospital massacre. Charlie never recovered as she is trapped in an abusive relationship with her psychic ex-girlfriend Susan through Lynette's body. She wants nothing more than to die, but will soon discover that Susan will follow her into the afterlife seeking vengeance.
This sequel was more fantastical than the first book given that we follow Charlie and Susan in the afterlife. As if Susan didn't wreak enough havoc in the real world, her jealousy and rage increased tenfold in this psychological realm. It was bloody, gory, and depraved. Also, Sylvester Stallone made an appearance 😆
While it was extreme and over the top, there was actually an emotional storyline. I could feel the raw, unfiltered emotions within the characters as they reflected on their lives. The hopelessness, the pain, the abuse, the anger all weaved together. I couldn't help but feel bad for Charlie because she deserved so much better.
This was a wild, violent ride wrapped up in an unconventional love story.
Since the first book became an instant favorite, I think I went into this one with too high expectations. I thought I was going to get the same fun vibes from the first one, but unfortunately this was not the case, so I ended up disappointed.
Wow, I am disappointed. I usually love EVERYTHING from the author (especially his other pen name). I think this was pretty far fetched and I loathe closed ending! Bummer.
I remember when Uncle Carl released his first novella, ‘The Blood Beast Mutations’ back in 2020 and he sent me a really kind email (actually his son sent it as Carl stays pretty off the grid) thanking me for reading it and saying such kind things. And at that time, I think I sent something back along the lines of – ‘it won’t be long until everyone is reading your work.’ And I meant it. And now, some three years later, it always fills me with great joy when I pop on Tik Tok or Books of Horror on FB or wherever and I see someone gushing about how amazing Carl John Lee’s books are. Because it’s true. Yes, Carl writes extreme horror, but – and I’ve said this before – his books are filled with real stories, layered approaches, relationship building and honest to god plots. It’s a novel with extreme moments, not just extreme moments with an after thought of story.
With last years outstanding, ‘Psychic Teenage Bloodbath,’ (and according to Goodreads numbers, Lee’s run away hit!), we were introduced to Susan, a girl trapped in a coma but possessing phenomenal powers of her mind. Things ended with a bang, between Susan, Charlie and Lynette – and while I won’t discuss that here for spoilers, be aware that going forward, if you’ve not read book one, some things might spoil it for you.
You’ve been warned.
What I liked: The second book picks up a bit after book one, where we find out that Susan did in fact take over Lynette’s body and banished her mind to the far reaches of her brain. Charlie at first wasn’t aware of this, believing her and Lynette had escaped Susan’s wrath, but once she understands the truth, she’s stuck in a physically and mentally abusive relationship which is ruled by Susan’s jealous iron fist.
When Charlie sees her chance, she takes it, purposefully trying to kill them both, but this is only the beginning. They awake now, in the dream world, the psychological realm, where Charlie searches for Lynette, and Susan seeks out both of them, desperate for vicious revenge.
It’s here that Carl John Lee does something remarkable unexpected. Within the pages of this brutally extreme novel, we get an emotional interlude. Charlie is reunited with her dog, Princess, who has been waiting for her since they passed away. Once Princess and Charlie are able to properly say goodbye they end up at the Rainbow Bridge and the reader ends up a bawling sack of unexpected sadness over this moment arriving seemingly out of nowhere. The story continues on with more blood, shredding and body cavity depravity, before we get an unexpected (and hilariously placed) celebrity cameo, before arriving at the last quarter where all bets are off.
I will say, the way Carl John Lee executes the ending of this story (pre-epilogue) is magnificent and shows his penchant for cinematic storytelling.
The epilogue opens the door for a potential third novel, and if it wasn’t for the Rainbow Bridge moment in the middle, would’ve been the most heart-wrenching thing ever to exist in a Carl John Lee novel.
What I didn’t like: As with all Carl John Lee releases, remember that this will have some truly brutal moments. Some of them have very specific purposes, while others work to set up something further down the line, but if you struggle with extreme, just know going in that this is a full on sensory assault.
Why you should read this: Fans of Carl John Lee’s will have already preordered this – like me (but thanks again for the digital ARC Uncle Carl!) – but if you’re looking for one of the most solid extreme storytellers to whisk you away into a world of love, lust, desire, depravity and debauchery, look no further. Pick up book one, read it, and get ready for this one, as it takes the story laid out in the first to a whole other level.
Psychic Teenage Bloodbath II is an unnecessary sequel to the gory, crazy, smutty first book. I mean, the first book had the perfect ending and everything, why continue it?
Repetitive character development, a lack of imagination for a story that mostly takes place in a non-physical realm, and CJL constantly trying to make genital torture seem different are all that awaits people.
If you’ve read the first book, it’s probably best to stop there. This sequel does nothing for the story.

The Review:
Well, okay, maybe there is one point of interest that was poked at early on.
Charlie and Susan’s corporeal relationship has the typical trademarks of an abusive relationship, and there was definitely some territory that could have been explored there. Unfortunately, this somehow slow paced read goes in the opposite direction, reverting back to Susan being always angry and Charlie never really doing much.
Doesn’t help that the actual story stops making sense a bit past the halfway point, with a ton of chapters that could have either been removed or skimmed down. Despite having some signature extreme horror content, this is a rather strange departure from Carl John Lee’s previous works, and it becomes something of a very unusual romantic story, except the romantic element doesn’t work.
While there are descriptive bits that work well enough, especially in the gory sections, everything else is very light on their descriptions. There just isn’t much given to us after a while and it seems like CJL just wants people to accept that things are there and we just have to imagine them however we can, instead of giving us any extra details.
Other parts also don’t make sense, especially given the afterlife/mental palace element of the story. After a while, CJL stops trying to justify the reason for anything and just starts throwing things at the reader. It’s a weak example of spontaneous storytelling and it only serves to make the story feel like a waste of time.
Probably because the entire story is a waste of time. Psychic Teenage Bloodbath II is unnecessary and feels like a tacked on sequel. Not worth the read.
Carl John Lee's name really isn't as well known as it should be, because this guy rocks! I loved the first PTB and thought it couldn't get any worse for poor Charlie. Oh how wrong I was, as we pick up years later and her life is little more than slavery as a toy to the depraved and by now hopelessly insane Susan. And it turns out that not even death is an escape from her twisted girlfriend's obsessive domination and cruelty.
The blood flows, body parts explode, people are turned into goddam mulch and Lee never takes his foot off the accelerator as we get surprise returning characters, an utterly batshit guest star "Pardon me, sweetheart" 😂 and possibly the most awesome final showdown in horror history.
And then just as its all over, our friend Uncle Carl saved one last heartbreaking fuck you to kick the soul right out of my arse. One hell of a fucking book, get it in your eyes right now. And if you missed the first, then go and unfuck that pronto. Seriously, these are the good stuff.
