Dive into the second book of USA Today bestselling author Michelle Madow’s Vampire Bride series, where secrets run deep, and light gives way to darkness.
After a shocking betrayal, Amber Benson was forced to do the unthinkable: drink a potion that will bring shadow souls—the dark forces trying to take over the city—straight to her.
If that wasn’t bad enough, the potion is eating away her sun magic. Poisoning her. Weakening her with each passing day.
Then, there’s Damien. The vampire king who abducted Amber and tricked her into living in his palace in a twisted attempt to make her his bride.
He’s furious with her for drinking the potion.
Unfortunately, they’re going to have to figure out how to work together. Because after the downtown vampires kill humans on Damien’s territory, it means war between the clans. And Amber might be the tool they need to stop the downtown vampires from going totally feral.
On top of all this? The potion’s doing one more thing Amber never expected. It opened a connection between her and the Shadow Lord. He’s appearing in her dreams, and she can’t resist the way he calls to her, mesmerizes her, and toys with her in the one place she should always be safe—her own mind.
Experience an action-packed, emotional rollercoaster in Poison Sun, full of magic, romance, adventure, and twists you’ll never see coming.

I read book 1 several months ago, & at my advanced age I don't have the best memory, so I had some issues with remembering the backstory, but it didn't matter. This was really can't put it down enjoyable.
It's focused on 2 couples who will likely become permanent before series end, but are having to deal with issues & struggles (+ magic & evil) along the way.
Appropriate for any age who has the reading skills, Ms Madow tends to stay away from adult situations (for this one, she offers a link to an adult chapter on her web site if that is your thing). I like that, because I don't feel that "adult explicitness" belongs in paranormal fantasy.
Again, she gets the point very clearly across as to where these characters are at as far as feelings for each other, & blocks they put in their way.
I'm being vague intentionally regarding the plot to avoid spoilers, but I will say we're left with several items to be explored in the next book, & I can't wait!
I received an Advanced Reader Copy at no charge & am leaving an honest review.
Another good book from Michelle. I am always looking forward to her new releases! I would have given this 5 stars, but I liked the first book more, so I went with 4. Don’t let that dissuade you though, it was still a great read! Keep up the great work Michelle, even if you did leave it with multiple cliffhangers!! 😊
So book two in the series and it’s very very good. It’s so good it may even be better than the first one. I devoured it, loved every word of the twists and turns all the way to an ending I didn’t see coming. Highly recommended.
I read an ARC of the first book in this series and really enjoyed it! It did take longer than I was expecting for this book to release, but I then received an ARC of it! I was in the middle of reading a series though, so I stopped it to read this book! After reading, I can say that I enjoyed this book! It continued on the characters story brilliantly and I liked the direction the author took it in! The plot only took me a few sitting to read and there was some romance in it! There wasn’t tons of romance because there was so many other things going on, but I can see there being more as this series progresses! There was more action and suspense, which added to the plot and made it more interesting! The characters were again amazing and made this book even better! Amber was the first main female character, and in this book she was training more and more to be able to defend herself and she was dealing with a lot of changes to her life! I felt for her, but I felt like she was handing her new life very well! Damien was again the love interest of Amber! Damien was trying his best to look after his people and look after Amber! I liked Damien and it was easy to see how he felt about Amber! Morgan was the other main female character, and in this book she was on a mission to help Amber and find out as much information as she could! I really liked Amber and she was strong and could look after herself! Blaze was the love interest of Morgan! Blaze was a guy that Morgan met through chance and I wasn’t really sure if I could trust him when he was first introduced! I did like him as as the book progressed and I can't wait to see his relationship with Morgan develop! This book was written mainly from Amber and Morgan’s point of views! There were a few chapters written from Damien’s point of view as well! It made sense for this book to be written this way because the characters were on different journeys that connected at the end! It allowed for more things to happen in the plot as well again because Amber and Morgan spent the plot apart on separate missions and went through situations by themselves! It helped me connect more with all the characters as well and see how they were all dealing with what they were going through! I now can’t wait to read the next book in this series! It says that it’s releasing in November, but I know that it’ll release before then! I’ll definitely be anticipating its release and reading it once it releases! The ending was also left at the perfect place to lead into the next book! The cover for this book is also stunning I love how well it suits the cover for the first book and how well it matches what happens in the book! It would draw to the book as well! Big thank you to Michelle for an ARC of Poison Sun!
I've been reading Michelle Madow for years and have most of her books on Kindle. I shouldn't be surprised by now, but this book completely took my breath away. I am still trying to process the story. I loved the first book, Vampire Bride, but I loved Poison Sun even more because there was much more action in this book. Every page had me so engrossed in the plot that I lost track of time. After the conclusion to the previous book, I couldn't help but wonder what would happen to Amber next, and how drinking the potion would affect her. I liked the way Madow expressed the characters' feelings; it made me experience them. I hoped Morgan could find a way to help her.
One of my favorite aspects of Michelle Madow's books is the magical world she creates. She does it so wonderfully that it's obvious how much effort and commitment she puts into her writing. I enjoyed that Poison Sun was written from Amber and Morgan's perspective, and although I love Amber, I loved reading from Morgan's perspective; there is a way that she explains everything that you can't help but get captivated in her story. I’m hoping that the next book in the series will have her perspective as well. I understand that Damien is trying to protect Amber, but sometimes I feel that he is too harsh with her. I feel that he might push her away if he keeps doing it.
Even though I sometimes doubt her judgments, I love Amber; she came a long way from the first book. There wasn’t a single page in this book that didn’t keep my attention, I found myself turning the pages, wanting to know what would happen next. I am eager to pick up the next book in series, and see what adventures and challenges await Amber, Damien, Morgan next! I would highly recommend this book to any fantasy fans.
*sigh*. Well, I spoke too fucking soon! The FMC (Amber) is a fucking idiot. I thought maybe she learned from the mistake she made in the first book, but nope. She’s still makes stupid, impulsive decisions because she is a selfish bitch that doesn’t have any fucking brain cells. “This isn’t Damien’s decision, this is my decision and I’m doing it!” No matter how that decision impacts everyone. Ugh! I seriously hate this bitch now. I honestly don’t even want to continue on with this series. Why do authors do this shit? Can we just have one smart FMC in these fantasy books? Is that too much to ask?! Also she promised Damien to be honest with him and the very next second withholds important information.
Let’s move on to Morgan…who is also an idiot that lies and withholds important information from EVERYONE!!
There was way too much repetition and inner dialogue as well. How many times did we have to read “He can never find out I’m a blood witch.” Over and over and over! Then he eventually finds out anyways so that was pointless. And it wasn’t even a big deal anyways. Who fucking cares that you’re a blood witch?! NOBODY!!!!!
God, I hated this book!
I’ll continue the series in hopes it gets better. I need to see how this ends. I can pretty much predict how this is going to go though.
Amazing second book to this saga featuring Star Touched human Amber who is destined for great things. It seems each star touched is linked to the goddess associated with that affinity: Shifter Ruby with the Moon/Celeste, Human Amber with the Sun/Sunneva. While Ruby has her own saga in the ‘Wolf Born Series’, Amber’s series takes on the Vampires. Reading the books in order is necessary to understand the storyline as one book builds upon the previous. Quests, adventures, defeating the evil Shadow Souls and their Shadow King, Astrophel. The story has romance, chemistry and some plot twists and leaves the reader wanting more. Also Amber is left with some heavy thoughts and decisions; I’m curious to see where she leads us in her story. Because being emotionally seduced by the Shadow King is very unexpected. I received a complimentary copy from the author to voluntarily leave an honest review.
The thoughts of being consumed by shadow is a scary thing for Amber to comprehend however the dreams that are so life like that bring the shadow lord to her nightmares are almost to much for Amber to bear she must find a way to stop the shadow lord and the shadow souls from not only consuming the souls of super natural beings and human alike but stop him from claiming her as his Shadow Queen all the while the poison Amber consumed is destroying her light magic. Can it be stopped in time as the evil that not only threatens Ambers life but the entirety of her soul which will stop a future with Damien now that Amber is developing feelings for him. Life is uncertain with the battle of dark and light and the battle of souls be the beginning of Amber and Damien’s future or the end of theirs and every supernatural being around them!!
This marvellous series continues with this second book, keeping the reader engrossed all the way through.
Amber drank the potion that they were trying to get, as its container was breaking. This had unexpected consequences including power, Shadow Souls and worst of all - The Shadow Lord himself.
She is coming to terms with being with Damien, but the leader of a rebel clan of vampires also wants her - for herself or the potion within her - she doesn't know, or care. He gives her the creeps.
Meanwhile the witch Morgan is searching for a way to get the potion out of her and into a more appropriate container. Hopefully she can do that before too much damage is done.
I received a free copy of this book and I voluntarily leave this review.
Secrets!!! Everyone is just full of secrets in this one. The last book ended with betrayal but in this one everyone believes their secret is best kept unsaid, but that never truly last now does it? Amber continues to be a part of Damien's family, she pushes herself more and more to no be a hinderance. Damien is trying to be a great leader but when it comes to Amber his feels are growing stronger and stronger along with his need to protect her. They both begin to feel the pull to one another. Morgan is also off on her own journey try to figure out a way to save Amber, when she meets a man you uses the same magic as her. Everyone my pull it together and learn to trust if they are to survive this war that is brewing. Full of action, mystery, lust, and deception.
Poison Sun (Star Touched: Vampire Bride #2) ~ This book picked up right where the first left off—with Amber caught in the deadly web of vampire politics and rituals. She’s becoming weaker since the poison, both mentally and magically, but is training very hard to balance it. Her connection with Damien becomes even more intense. I loved seeing Amber challenge him while still wrestling with her feelings. The plot thickens with betrayal, secret alliances, and shocking twists. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. OMG , the shadow lord, and lets not get me started on Morgan and Blaze!!!! Its definitely getting HOT 💥 in here!!!!!
I loved this book and can’t wait to start the next one!
I was excited to see where this one would go especially with the ending of the last one!
I enjoy our main character and male main, its nice to see them interact and the way they are learning so much about each other. I do wish at times we got more chapters from the main character instead of some of the side characters which is why this isnt a higher star, almost feels like 2 books in one.
There was a lot of action in this one and it does make me interested to see where this will go next.
Book two of the Star Touched Vampire Bride series. Please make sure you read Book 1 first as this is not a standalone.
This was a great continuation of the story. In fact, it is almost like two books in one because you follow Amber's story dealing with Damien, the Shadow Souls, and the ultra creepy Shadow Lord... while at the same time follow Morgan's journey to try to find a solution to get the poison out of Amber. Can't wait for the next book to see what happens!
Books always end too soon. I get caught up in them. Sometimes, I hate how wishy-washy the characters are. I feel like they need to say what they are thinking about to one another. I dislike prolonged sex scenes. Just say they made out or had steamy sex. Good enough for me. Don't need the graphic details. I'm not a prud, but am a Christian and don't believe in sex before marriage.
We get more of Ambers story. She is fighting battles all around from taking the potion that is poisoning her magic to Lucas wanting her for his own agenda as well as the Shadow lord. And lets not forget Damien. The ending leaves me screaming no no no. I hope she will come out on top in next book.
Generally, find the second book in a trilogy somewhat of a letdown, but this one had all the plot and action of the first one. Characters I cared about, interesting betrayals, and great settings. Michelle is a great storyteller who can twist thing around so you don’t see them coming. Great series.
I love this book and I love Ms. Madow’s writing style!! Her story flows easily and keeps you entertained. I never felt like there was a lull in the story or a lot of unnecessary filler. She is a very gifted and creative author. You won't be sorry to buy this book.
Michelle Maddow has done it again and kept me reading her book from cover to cover again I really love the way you can craft your story so you can get involved in it and can't put it down until it is done.
It was worth the wait! I love this series, just like every other series Michelle has written, Michelle has a way of writing where it’s so easy to get lost in that world. I’m waiting on pins and needles for fading sun ❤️
Did you write this? It's not like your usual style, MC is not strong she's petulant and stupid, the only good parts of this book were Morgan and blaze, but, will not finish series.
The 2nd series to this epic story is Amazing. The plots and twists are brilliant and you don't see them coming. If you haven't started this series yet I highly recommend it
This book was a blast to read. I stayed up later than I should have to finish it. I love how she writes books that can stand on their own, but you know there is more to the story and it’s not finished.
Madow's has written another great book. It is interesting & entralls you. The characters feel real & are relatable. The story has action, adventure, lust, twist & turns that are unexpected. I recommend.
Wow! What a ride! The adventure continues as many exciting things happen that I won't tell you about because - no spoilers! I will say I can barely wait to start book 3. I'm so glad I picked this up after it was a complete series!
Another great cliffhanger! Can not wait to see what happens with Sun touched Amber, the witch Morgan and the rest of the great characters in this novel when they meet the Shadow Lord next time!
The story did get better in the second book and it's no thanks to the main character. I'm more invested in Morgan and Blaze's story to be honest. Definitely will continue reading now to see what's in store for those 2.
