Don't Leave Me

Rate this book
I wasn’t sure how I got into the mess I made with Michael and Jack. I never wanted anyone to get hurt. I never expected to break anyone’s heart. The fear of losing either of them in any way tore my stomach into knots.
And then it all happened so fast. I was engaged, in a new apartment, and my life was about to change forever.
As for him…he was going to make sure I got all of that and more. Only this time I didn’t have any other choice. He would make it so I could never leave...

Don’t Leave Me is a love triangle story with a seemingly happy start…then gets dark really quickly. This story is for mature readers only and has very descriptive sexual content. Please check trigger warnings before reading.

Omg. How do I sum up all of my feelings?! I LOVED this book. It reminds me of so many of my favorite things, and I haven’t read a book like it. I went into this not knowing much, and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Cassandra does an excellent job setting the stage of the story and really building the characters throughout the course of the book. Loved the extra POVs later on that revealed even more. I genuinely felt for everyone involved, and the love triangle had me feeling so many mixed emotions. The cliffhanger made my jaw drop, and I can’t WAIT for the next one. Don’t sleep on this—I highly recommend!

Biggest Emotional Rollercoaster Ride of a Read Ever!!!

Wow! What a whirlwind of emotion this book is. This book is Hanna’s journey through life and gives quite a beautiful depiction of what it must be like to suffer from bi-polar mood disorder and all that it entails. For Hanna, everything happens quickly and everything is felt largely. The author does an amazing job of making the reader feel the emotions of Hanna and I felt like I was living her story while I was reading. There are many twist and turns that you will not see coming. The angst and emotions drip off the pages. What appears to be a sweet romance is actually a dark, dark story. If you are looking for a hot, edge of your seat, can’t put the book down kinda read - then grab this now! I promise you won’t regret it!!

Wow. Gripping and terrifying. Not in a horror sense but in a “what are people capable of” sense. Definitely check trigger warnings if that’s something you need. Hana’s internal and external struggles with her mental health were so relatable, even when placed in an absolutely nightmarish position. I couldn’t put this book down and was thinking about it anytime I wasn’t reading. The closer I got to the end I realized it was either going to be a bad ending, or open ended. I wouldn’t have been mad with either but I’m ecstatic that Hana’s story isn’t over yet. I cannot wait for part 3.

This story was intense and captured my attention right away! It was fabulously written for a debut novel and I can't wait for part 2. This does end on a cliffhanger so be aware of that, but trust me when I say, it's worth it!

This is a gripping tale--I absolutely could not put it down. It needs to be noted, however, that it's incomplete, or, rather, it has a cliffhanger. As the book stands, it's very frustrating to see all the self-torture the heroine puts herself through. At a certain point, without any happy ending in sight, it becomes a masochistic exercise to read it. By the end of this, the hero-villain is the only strong character and the others (Michael, Emily, Hana) look weak, easily manipulated, self-loathing, and uninteresting in comparison. The only characters left with any will are Jack and Billie.

This book took me on such an emotional rollercoaster and the cliffhanger at the end of part 2 was a killer! The book seemed to jump around a bit and seemed manic at times but I don’t know if this was intentional as Hana has episodes of hypomania, it made it hard to read at times but it did make me feel as if I was inside Hana’s mind. I enjoyed the book and felt Hana’s emotions came across really strongly and you can’t help but love her even if you want to shake her sometimes. Good book and I’m looking forward to part 3 as I need to know what happens next.

This book wasn't really my cup of tea. It wasn't bad at all, I just couldn't latch myself to the FMC.

The story is about a young woman who has bipolar. This causes her to make erratic decisions and her life swings wildly because of it. I spent the entire first half of the book trying to figure out who the "bad guy" was...was it guy 1, was it guy 2, was it the FMC, maybe its the best friend?? The second half cleared things up, and the pace of the book increased dramatically. Because I have no personal experience with bipolar, I couldn't comprehend the choices the FMC kept making, and I didn't really feel vested. I believe that is a me problem, not a story problem.

Check the triggers if you have triggers!

What the heck did I just read? And how did I enjoy that?

Honestly, I was not expecting any of the plot twists that happened in this book. Cassandra's writing style is so capturing (literally) that I read this in 2 days. Coming in at just shy of 700 pages, I was honestly surprised I got through it so quickly, but it CONSUMED me! (get it?!)

First, let's just say... everyone in this entire book is off their rocker, and I LOVED it! Written in two different parts - before the event and after the event (iykyk, trying to be spoiler free), you learn about Hana's struggle with mental health and the captivating grip she has to the two men in this love triangle. Hana falls in love with her boss, Michael, with whom she has a dom/sub relationship, while also falling in love with Jack, that she met through her friends who is... let's just say... protective. The struggles of who to choose and why do you love someone who hurts you so much play out heavy through this entire read.

I think I said "What the eff am I reading?" out-loud more than 20 times while reading this book. It's a dark romance, love triangle, with unhinged characters, deep dives into mental health and stockholm syndrome. Please check the trigger warnings before reading!

I can't wait for Book 2!!

3.5 stars

This book is a wild ride. I didn't love it but I also couldn't put it down. Thus, the 3.5 star rating. I didn't realize it was so long when I grabbed it from KU. I decided to go ahead and read it figuring if it was bad, I'd just dnf. I honestly assumed I'd probably dnf it. That's probably not the best mindset heading into a book but I obviously ended up finishing this.

Is the length necessary here? I'm not convinced it needed to be 600 pages long. I think this could have been edited down or possibly just divided into three 300 page books. The writing could use some improvement but it wasn't terrible. The first half of the book everything seemed too easy for the heroine. Every hurdle is easily overcome. It gets darker in the second half.

I purposely went in without spoilers. I'm trying to break a reading slump. For it's full effect, I think reading this blind is best. However, as a spoiler seeker, I get wanting all the info.

This book is full of twists and turns that will be deliver an impact when read blind. Knowing what's going to happen will definitely impact the reading experience. I will spoil for those readers that need it.

Safety wise, it's important to note that this book centers around a love triangle. There is a ton of sex in this book. Some of it is written well and some of it isn't. There is no OW/OM drama OUTSIDE of the love triangle but this is no Twilight, the heroine is deeply entwined with both guys at different points. There is explicit on page sex with the heroine and both guys, some of it's undeniably dubcon. Both men are completely OBSESSED with the heroine, they don't even acknowledge the existence of OW. The heroine is torn between the two men and it's hard to know who to root for. This book ends on a cliffhanger so you don't get any choice between the two men in this book.

More specific spoilers beyond this point.

The book starts out with the heroine and her boss, Michael. Michael is into BDSM, despite the heroine never practiced BDSM she quickly falls into a dominant/submissive relationship with Michael. They have a couple of fights/breakups which allow the introduction of the other love interest, Jack.

Honestly the first half of the book could use some editing down. It's a bit boring and predictable in places. The obstacles are easily overcome between Michael and Hana. They are mostly happy together aside from the couple of times they fought. Hana does have sex with Jack both times they are on the outs. Side note, Hana has bipolar disorder which explains a lot of her thinking and behavior. We don't see a lot of Jack in the first half of the book aside from his encounters with Hana and briefly in the aftermath of those.

Jack takes center stage in part two. We learn there's definitely a lot to him. He kidnaps Hana and keeps her with him under coercion. He threatens to kill the people she loves if she doesn't stay with him. Hana starts off pretty miserable with Jack. All of the sex they are having during this portion is definitely dubcon vibes. She seems powerless to resist him but she has a lot of self loathing for it. He's definitely abusive to her but she feels she deserves it.

He coerces her into staying with him and marrying him. Her friend grows suspicious and tries to 'save' her but is mostly unsuccessful. The one attempt that is successful ends up with Jack finding them and coercing her into leaving with him again. The book ends with Hana finding out she's pregnant and we don't know who the father is. Hana definitely falls into a sort of Stockholm syndrome situation. Book 2 is available so you don't have to wait to find out what ultimately happens.

Only read this book if you like dark romance and don't mind love triangles. If seeing the heroine torn between two guys isn't for you just skip this one. Otherwise, I think it's a worthwhile read. Despite not loving it, I couldn't put it down.

Heat level: 1/5. Part 1 was internally chaotic because the FMC has type 2 bipolar disorder and the fluctuations of her emotions and mental state gave me whiplash. Part 2 was externally chaotic because of the madness that quickly unfolds. Setting the editing needed aside, the FMC is one of the most unlikable FMCs I've read in a long time. By the time Part 2 happened, I honestly felt the FMC was the cause of her own suffering and she had made her bed, now she had to lie in it.

For those that need TWs listed, cheating was NOT listed and should have been. The FMC cheats on her MMC after having a fight that wasn't even a fight, she just didn't hear what she wanted. End of. I have no triggers but that was messed up and put her down the irredeemable path for me. Having bipolar disorder is not an excuse or reason to cheat and to have it written as such didn't sit well with me.

There were so many things that the FMC did or didn't do that had me wanting to shake her or pull her away by her hair. Morbid curiosity had me keep going and the more I read, the more fed up I was. If that was the end goal, then that was very well done.

The spice in part 1 was written in almost a clinical, detached, and vaguely detailed way. If this is Romantic Suspense, then that makes sense somewhat, but if this is supposed to be Dark Romance, it didn't land. I LOVE Dark Romance, but I'm not 100% sure what genre or subgenre this is supposed to be. Another point that definitely didn't sit well with me is how the MMC, who is experienced in BDSM relationships and consent, went somewhat Dom with the FMC from the first time they bang. Without asking her if it was OK or if it was something she liked doing. That is NOT what experienced in the BDSM life people do. It took too long for the whole conversation of limits and such to happen.

The plot and handful of characters were already super chaotic, but add to that the jumping POVs that go back and forth in time starting in Part 2, and it's just so much to process. I'm waving the white flag and won't be reading the sequel because I'm still like wtaf did I just read?

What to say about this book…
There’s so much I wanna say, but I don’t want to give away any spoilers, so I’ll just say what I can.

I was instantly drawn into this book. It’s already fast paced from the get go, some spicy scenes already starting pretty early on and I love that. It doesn’t slow down AT ALL throughout the entire book.

Not only are the scenes spicy, but the romance is top tier, and it’s one book I’ve read that there’s an ACCURATE description and relationship of what a dom/sub relationship truly is, which is so refreshing to see. I also love the fact there’s accurate representation for mental illness, and the struggles someone has with them.

Just when things are really going well for our MC Hana, all hell breaks loose and her perfect world is turned upside down. And it only gets worse, even when you don’t think it can.

I often times forgot I was reading a book, feeling like I was watching a dark romance/thriller unfold in front of me. I was entirely engrossed in this book.

At 686 pages, I read this faster than I’d read any other book in a LONG ass time, it had me that immersed.

I cannot recommend this book enough. If you love dark romance, with a side of thriller, READ. THIS. BOOK. NOW.

(This book ends on a cliffhanger, but lucky you, book two is out!)

I can’t say enough good things about this book.Genuinely if I didn’t have kids I would have for sure slammed this book into one day easily. The very first page starts with action drawing you in and from there not once in this book does the hold this book will have on you ease up.Starting with the beautiful handsome (her boss lol) Michael planning a future together living a dream until being whisked away and kidnapped by former lover jack and going through a sever case of Stockholm syndrome. Hana is GOING THROUGH IT especially as she suffers from type 2 bipolar disorder which makes her unfortunately very easily swayed in the wrong direction and convinced a dangerous situation may not be so bad as well as unable to handle such trauma mentally adding to her delusions. This book is a rollercoaster that has me PHYSICALLY crying excuse me I mean BAWLING all the way through. I would absolutely recommend if you like your books DARKKKK I mean almost pitch black dark. I highly encourage you to read the trigger warnings before reading this. As someone with absolutely no triggers this book did make me physically uncomfortable with sometimes me having a hard time continuing on and finishing it however my dying need to know what happened next fueled me so PLEASE don’t go in blind and don’t go in without fully knowing what you are about to read. Otherwise as long as your comfortable ENJOY and as always happy reading 🥰

I go in blind, ALWAYS. I never read trigger warnings or blurbs. I just dive right in because that is what I like to do, and I have yet to find anything that triggers me. That being said, Im going to stress to PAY ATTENTION to trigger warnings of this book if you aren’t like me and like to go in blind.
I loved this book. It gave me anxiety the whole time I was reading it. Yes, I know that may be weird to say that I loved a book that gave me anxiety, and honestly, I can’t explain it. I love being wrecked by books or that have me biting my fingernails so to speak. This book is dark and definitely a page turner. It will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I definitely had a love-hate relationship with a lot of the characters in this book. It ends with a huge cliffy. I cannot wait to read book 2!

As always be mindful of trigger warnings, what you like I may not.

Happy reading!

Holy shit this book was intense. It had so many twists and turns, I was getting whiplash. It takes a lot to keep me interested in finishing a book this long. This is damn near 700 pages and I usually try to read books that are under 500 because my attention span is just not there but this one had me needing to know what happened next the whole time, even now since it ended on a cliffhanger.
This book is in two parts. The first part is mostly a fun kinky smutty time, the second part is much darker and really shows what people you think you know can be capable of.

I love that this really dive into mental health issues and dealing with bipolar disorder and the ups and downs of that in daily life. As a therapist, I really appreciate when books touch on mental health in a very real way.

Definitely read the triggers for this one before going in since it does have some that I know are hard for some people to get through.

This book is wonderful and I gave it 5/5⭐️ and 3/5🌶️

This story was a great representation of someone dealing with bipolar disorder. It showed the mental health struggles Hana was going through. It was a very realistic telling of someone being bipolar. This was done quite well. It is also an intense dark read. It starts out pretty alright and then gets dark quickly.

This was a love triangle story. At first Hana is with her boss Michael. They have a Dom/sub relationship which seems to be going alright. But then she meets Jack and falls for him as well. But he has his own issues he is dealing with. I kind of moved back and forth between the two and I am unsure who I settled on.

It is a quite long read at almost 700 pages, but there is so much different perspectives and information given that it is necessary for the plot. It also doesn't feel like it is that long of a read because it is an intense edge of your seat page turner. It does end on a cliffhanger so you will need to be prepared and expect to read book two.

This starts out with a love triangle. Hana starts a relationship with her boss Michael. It seems good. It is a Dom/Sub relationship, and she is happy. Then she meets Jack. Jack is quite different and is protective. After some back and forth, Hana settles with Michael. As time goes on, Hana starts lying to Michael about where she has been going. Hana is bipolar, so her mental health struggles come into the story. Everything comes crashing down from here. This is a dark love triangle where she finds herself unable to leave. The author writes about Hana’s struggles and the men who try to control her and keep her. The writing is very good and drew me into the story right from the start. I could feel all of Hana’s emotions as I read the book and couldn’t put it down. I received an ARC copy from the author and this is my honest review.

Oh. My. Gawd.
I was not expecting a rollercoaster of a plot!!
It’s honestly so blooming good.
It took a VERY dark turn during Part Two and I wasn’t prepared for the hatred I have towards a certain character 😂😂

I’m in love with Michael and not giving too much away, I just hope he gets his HEA at the end of part three.
This book deals with bipolar, and the author’s writing style reflects this: I found it quite erratic at times (which is a good thing).

I’m not going to lie, but Hana is the worst 🙈🙈 I don’t like her at all- but she’s written so well ❤️‍🔥
I’m all for her best friend Billie: girl power right there.

Take the bull by the horns and read this book!! The twists and turns are 🔥

This was a damn good book!
So many twists and turns, the second part had soo many wtf moments & I’m still 🤯🤯
The main FMC has a mental illness , the first MMC is into BDSM, & the second MMC also has a mental illness and is unhinged !!
Like I want to know what’s going on in Hana’s head & why she’s letting all that happen (like it explains it but I still can’t believe it like I’m just whaaaatttt)
I had the same feelings her best friend Billie & cousin Emily had angry and confused as heck as to if her mental illness is playing a huge role or if she really does love him.
I honestly liked her with Michael even though he had his moments too
I def recommend this book BUT PLEASE READ TRIGGER WARNINGS because it is dark.

I need PART THREE I MUST KNOW WTH HAPPENS NEXTT!!!

I don’t even know where to begin. This book rendered me absolutely speechless. Between the characters and the plot, I am obsessed. What starts as a cute, kinky boss/employee romance divulges into something darker and more sinister so quickly.

There were SEVERAL moments when I was screaming “WTF!?!” at my kindle.

So many moments had me questioning what was going on and how things were going to be resolved. Oddly, I liked both the MMC’s Jack & Michael. Both offer Hana something different, however they do both protect and love her in their own ways.

I am now thoroughly invested to find out what happens with Hana, Jack, and Michael. Vega weaves a dark, sexy web that really draws you in and captures your attention!

Don’t Leave Me

This is a THICC novel but worth every darn page!!!! I absolutely devoured it. Please check TW as it is pretty dark.

I love when authors write about mental health issues. It makes us feel like we aren’t alone 🫶🏼🫶🏼 The MFC Hana has bipolar and depression so be careful if those are TW for you, as the authors goes into fantastic detail and it is spot on!

And then part two….. 😨🫣😵‍💫 I have no words lol

A love triangle, possessive MMC, and one heck of a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to find out what happens next because I need to know who Hana ends up with. Jack or Michael???

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Did not see this read coming! It's a unique blend of love triangle, psychological thriller/romance, and totally consuming. Then it leaves you dangling and begging for the next book.
I was equal parts frustrated with Hana, fascinated with how Jack manipulated things, and heart broken for Michael. It's a read that takes you on a twisted journey where it feels like the lines between what Hana wants, what's being done to her, and how she gets out of it without hurting someone are insanely blurred. Definitely a gripping read that gets you thinking and absolutely has you wondering where on earth it can still go

Holy this book was amazing. It does have alot of dark elements throughout it and can be triggering for some people so please make sure you read the trigger warnings before starting.
Hana is a bipolar girl who ends up falling for her boss (michael) at work but then she also falls for jack who has his own issues. Things start off really good but they don't stay that way they turn dark quickly. This book has two parts to it so far and I can't wait for the third part to come out so I can find out who she ultimately ends up with.

I gobbled this book up like thanksgiving dinner. I cannot fathom the writing and details out into this book. As someone who has the same mental illness as the character. It was comforting just seeing I’m not alone in the way my mind works. It was such a journey reading this and the many turns it took me on… I’m a wreck but totally ready to get my heart broken in the second book. Thank you Cassandra for literally breaking my heart just to mold it back together and then throw it out the window !!

Wow just wow, I'm speechless!!

This is my first time reading a book written by Cassandra and it won't be my last that's for sure. What a story. This was an emotional rollercoaster ride with twists and turns.

It's intense, gripping , dark and gritty. And oh so good. My attention was captured from the beginning so much so I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting.

My emotions where all over the place. It's packed with so much. The storyline, plot and characters where written wonderfully. Can't wait to read more. Highly recommend

I couldn’t put it down

I grabbed this book off a random Facebook group comment and holy sh*t, I couldn’t put it down. I finished it less than 24 hours after I downloaded it. I wanted something dark, unconventional, and with a dark/tortured MMC. Cassandra Vega delivered that and more. It was a longer book but very much needed to flesh out these characters with the nuanced details of this entire book. I’m dying for part 3!
