In the isolated, crumbling stronghold of Krevlin, Llyr is a mere servant dedicated to stopping his home from collapsing into the sea. There’s nothing special about him. Or so he thought.

Then elves conquer his coastal home, taking all the inhabitants of Krevlin as prisoners. The elves are looking for something, and they think Llyr is the key. Worse still, the elf lord leading the attack doesn’t just want Llyr’s secrets.

He wants Llyr.

Rhaine was once the elven lord of Creven Tor, a mighty fortress on the edge of the sea. Then the humans invaded, and Rhaine was forced to abandon his home in order to save his people. Now he’s back, seeking out the last remnant of magic that holds the decaying fortress together. Instead, Rhaine finds Llyr, a stubborn, defiant servant with more than human blood in his veins.

Rhaine found him, and he intends to keep him.

He just needs to convince Llyr that giving in is worth it.

These Two had no chemistry at all,
On top of that the blurb mentions enemies to lovers but it has none of that, it didn't have the thing that makes them hate each other, there is no disdain and hatred, tension and banter that makes them enemies, the romance barely even there.
The Writing was solid it also has a good premise but there was so much lacking and no sense of clear direction.

Lyn had been physically abused by Simeon and your suppose reaction "I'll talk to him" might as well don't react at all,
Rhaine done absolutely nothing about the abuse Lyn endure in fact he left Lyn under Simeon supervision.

Also there was a scene near the end
When there was like a huge fight between
Simeon and Lyn and Rhaine was like "Simeon you don't wanna do this, this isn't you" mind you Lyn almost died and that was his reaction.
I hate his character so much bruh.

I don't know maybe it's my mood not the book cause everyone else seems to like it.

4.5 stars. Overall: really glad a reviewer brought this one to my attention. I enjoyed this standalone novel quite a lot. I even enjoyed the first sex scene. The last one, and indeed the editing from the end of the final conflict to the end, could've been better and I'm sad that it wasn't. The only real mistake was in extending plot stuff via not having a critical conversation until there has to be a further delay in action. That was silly.

And still, I'm really glad I got to read this novel. I hope the author writes more, in this world or a different one.

Rhaine's head was too far in his ass for my taste but Blaise was a delight and the .75 is for him.

Loved this! You put fantasy with fae/elves in front of me and it's usually going to be a hit, but this was so sweet.

Llyr was a fun character. He started out looking like he needed rescuing, then promptly seduced his rescuer. He was headstrong and stubborn, but he cared so deeply for his home and the people who lived there, even if they never really cared for him. I loved watching his bond grow with the hearthstone and with Rhaine.

Rhaine was certainly stubborn, too. At times, I grew impatient with him... and with his impatience toward Llyr. He came to Llyr's home, upended everything, and then got irritated when Llyr didn't just take him at his word that he wasn't the enemy.

I also really liked Blaise! Rhaine may have "claimed" Llyr, but Blaise wasn't about to relinquish his responsibility. My only gripe?

If I'm going down the list of characters, the hearthstone itself was fun. I think I grew as attached as Llyr by the end, but I liked how its presence was there even early on when it warmed rooms or bathwater for Llyr while it was still scared and hiding.

Overall, this was fun and sweet. I'd enjoy reading more about Llyr's and Rhaine, but it makes a great standalone fantasy story too.

(Edited to hide spoilers behind tags instead of hiding the whole review, since it's the first one here and I hope it helps people decide to read it.)

Almost stopped reading when sex happened right in the beginning. This was the 8th book I tried (the other 7 were dnf) and all of them were over sexualized or over sensualized right from the start, so this book having it in the beginning almost made me dnf. BUT the writing was good and the plot seemed interesting, so I continued.

So glad I did. First well written book read for 2024! Definitely will reread.

Docked one star cause I don't read lgbt fantasy for sex. Books don't need to start and end with sex.

Needs work and research

There are several things I struggled with in this book. First, it was too insta-attraction. They fall into bed together in the second chapter for reasons. Then comes the enemies to lovers bit that was so repetitive in what happened and what was said it grew tedious. I didn't like how.lacking in agency the MC was, always helpless against stronger people despite his snarky comments. Overall, he was too accepting of things so the enemies part was a harder sell. I wanted more "get away from me" and less "he's so pretty" vibes. You see this a lot in MF romances, and it all seems to be setting up the MC as weaker and the LI as stronger and dominant. This played out in this story too. The LI was controlling, selfish, and completely oblivious in ways that were hard to believe. It made the turning point tedious and frustrating, because really, that level of idiocy made no sense. One final thing that bothered me was the complete lack of oil or lube when they had sex. There are scenarios where that is a choice or preference, but this was clearly not the case here since the there were references to a slickness. It felt like the author had no idea that oil or lube might be required, which is an issue if you're writing m/m sex scenes.

Disclaimer: I’m going to review it without spoilers at the top, then create a line and anything below that line will be spoilers. Do with that what you will.

There was SO MUCH potential for this book. But overall, it left me wanting more and I ended up being upset with the book by the end. It became illogical and just…boring?

What I liked:
- The worldbuilding was very interesting. The war, the idea of hearthstones and keepers, etc. It was a top tier concept.
- ELVES!!! I’m so sick of this fae shit and was so happy that elves were the main characters.
- There is some very stunning/poetic writing done in here in a few scenes.
- Llyr is rebellious and mouthy and it makes for some great scenes in the first part of the book.

What I didn’t like:
- It felt rushed in several parts of the book.
- Llyr seems bright and scrappy, but sometimes he’s like clueless idiotic. Not picking up on things that are right in front of his face.
- There weren’t enough scenes/interactions to really have you believe they were enemies or that their love was real. It just felt rushed and gave you whiplash.
- Lore was just kind of thrown in our face when needed which made many scenes/knowledge very confusing and deterred from the actual plot itself. You were always like “wait, what?” instead of finding a way to properly world build and educate the reader.
- Around the 50-60% mark, this book just started getting more boring as the time went on.
- The ending was AWFUL. Never been more irritated with an ending and how it was setup.

SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT
—————————————

Favorite quotes:
- “I see you as single-minded and unshakeable.” Rhaine’s voice softened slightly. “You could shout for war and all would follow.” “You’ll be incredible once you figure out who you are.” // I find this such a powerful scene in the book. It’s so beautiful and complimentary and really showed the depth of Rhaine’s observations (and maybe love) or Llyr.
- Llyr had never been kissed like that, like he was equally worth savoring and devouring. // HOT 🥵
- “I withheld his freedom even after we knew who he was; I can’t be upset when he can now make choices I don’t agree with,” Rhaine said. “You can if his decisions are stupid,” Blaise muttered. // I found this absolutely hilarious and really loved Blaise 😂
- “You do not turn a blade on your elders!” Blaise snarled down at him, grey eyes blazing. “And certainly not with me. Never with me, do you understand?” “Get fucked!” Llyr bucked, fighting the weight on his arms and hips. // this is some whimsical, alternate universe, back when castles and servants are a thing era and Llyr saying get fucked was so funny to me 😂

What I didn’t like:
- THE ENDING! The setup made it seem like Llyr didn’t go with Rhaine and turned him down at the docks. Which is fine that this wasn’t true, but the next scene is Rhaine moping and not coming out of his room on the ship…but Llyr was there on that ship? So it just made no fucking sense whatsoever. What do you have to mope about? It was a poorly written scene by the author. I saw what they were trying to do but it just made no sense, so it left you upset more than anything.

Stand-alone, with HEA, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I can’t find any other books by Ness Hanon on Amazon or Goodreads, and if this really is a debut novel, I want to add a sixth star. I loved this book! I fell in love with Rhaine and Llyr. And if I may make a suggestion, dear author, I would love to see Blaise get his HEA, too. But only if the you can make it fit in the world. I wouldn’t want to cheapen Found by shoehorning in a second book that doesn’t fit.

Ok, ok, the book. Rhaine and the elves have returned to Risia to save the hearthstone. I’m not really clear on why they were left behind in the first place, but that’s the only hole in world building that I noticed. Especially when we learn (I don’t consider this a spoiler) that most Keepers stayed and died with their stones. There’s so much history here that is kinda slowly fed to us so it doesn’t feel like an info dump. I never felt like I was in a history class or that I was missing pertinent information when it was needed. And it was given in a way that made me feel like the author had so much more world building in her head that we just didn’t need for this book. So that kinda-hole was really an anomaly.

Rhaine and Llyr both have identifiable character arcs that are gradual and believable. Especially as Llyr comes into his role as Keeper. Aargh! I want to go on but it would be too spoiler-y. But suffice it to say that I was completely invested.

The villain is obvious to us, but I can also understand why Rhaine doesn’t see it, and Blaise sees it too late. To them it’s nearly unimaginable. Well done not giving us stupid reasons why they couldn’t stop it earlier, Ms. Hanon.

Reader, if you’re looking for erotica, this isn’t it. This is romantasy with a nice spice level. (On page sex happens, but it’s not every other page.) Now normally I would run the other direction if I read the last two sentences in a review because I like my smexy times, but I loved watching Rhaine and Llyr fall in love. It totally filled my romantic little heart. And I totally recommend you give this a try even if you normally wouldn’t.

This book was well written, had great world building, and had wonderful characters that weren’t cardboard thin. There were a couple small errors in copy editing that could be fixed, but overall I definitely recommend reading Found. I look forward to reading more from Ness Hanon!

In this one-shot romantasy, the romance itself was okay, but I absolutely loved some of the worldbuilding. While I was a bit lukewarm on the characters and wasn't quite sold on the depth of their devotion by the end of the story (I didn't feel like Rhaine made up for some of his dumbass decisions enough by the end to sell me on the intensity of his feelings), the concept of the hearthstone and the potential of the relationship dynamic kept me engaged.

In a way, this felt like a standalone that should have been a duology. I felt like Llyr and Rhaine needed more time to grow into their relationship and make up for their early missteps. I also felt like we were heavily teased with the concept of a keeper-lord relationship but never got to see the full potential of one realized. I would have liked to see these two spend more time bonding with each other directly and building their partnership to really fulfill the promise of the premise.

This brings me to my favorite part of the book: the worldbuilding! I absolutely love the concept of the hearthstone. A sentient magical object intrinsically linked to a fortress, sharing a mystical bond with their keeper? Yes, please! I am all for bonding with non-humanoid entities. Additionally, the bond that the keeper shares with the hearthstone makes them essential to the fortress's lord, which creates all kinds of potential for an intense relationship. It's a fantastic setup.

Basically, this is a story with a lot of great concepts and potential that just didn't quite go all the way to fulfill that potential. I still had a great time and stayed up way too late to finish reading this book, so I have to recommend it. I'm also very tempted to borrow some of the concepts it introduced for my own fiction. All that being said, I still see this as one of those books that would be improved by a sequel to fill in the gaps.

This is such a great debut and I'll sure keep track on Ness Hanon's future works!

This is a simple yet agradable fantasy, I liked the writing style and the plot was interesting. Llyr was such a fun characther! I liked his boldness and loyalty, he's full of personality. I have conflicting feelings about Rhaine, when he was first introduced I was intrigued and charmed by him, but as the story progressed the sparks dimmed a little, I didn't like how he dealt with some things and how he was quickly to distrust one and blindly to trust others, so yeah he frustrated me a little, but in the end I still liked him (conflicting feelings indeed 😅). And I could not not mention Blaise! And the hearthstone! I loved the hearthstone!

My only minor complaint is that I felt there wasn't enough of Llyr and Rhaine, I was totally sold and involved on their cheremistry and I wish we had more from them togheter because they were wonderful. A couple more pages to better develop their relationship and I would be a happy girl! But due this was a debut book I'm impressed of what the author gave us and really curious to see what comes next.

Wow, I think I got this book through an algorithm thing. A pop up suggestion. Anyway, I have never read this author before and was pleasantly surprised at how readable this story was. Llyr is a servant at a crumbling fortress by the sea. The fortress was formerly occupied by the Fae until humans overran it and the Elven population fled. Only Llyr doesn't realize he's half elf himself but the Lord from the fairy realm that is there to bring back an artifact DOES realize. Lots happens and there are nicely fleshed out side characters. The villain (boo, hiss) is obvious and easy to revile. It's nice to get a good hate on in a book I think. I would read a sequel but alas one is not out there. The only other book by this author appears to be a Shifter story but I may give it a go if the writing compares to this one.

This is a fantasy romance with enemies to lovers, sort of grumpy/sunshine, and age gap. I was intrigued by the premise of the book and devoured this in one sitting. The story focuses on a young man who loves his home which is invaded by the enemy, who is looking for something that was left there years ago. He is the key to them finding it and leaving with the item but he is mistrustful of their intentions due to prejudice and also the head guy kind of slept with him under false pretenses. The book contains, a bit of adventure, a bit of mystery some angst, sexual tension and glorious consent.

I enjoyed it quite a lot!

I admit at first it did not seem like I would, but as things progressed, I got more and more invested. While I think the general sequence of events could be polished a bit more (it was sort of chaotic in the middle of the book), I liked the world the book was set in, and the characters too. While it's not perfect, it was a decent read, and if more books set in this world come out (I really hope this is the case!) then I will definitely read them. It would be great to see the world developed, as for now we've only caught a glimpse of it.

Had potential

Another book that did not meet expectations, mainly because of the main character. I believe Llyr deserved a better partner than Rhaine, who, in my opinion, is worthless and lacks courage. I am tired of reading about main characters who are not assertive or useful in any way. Although I enjoyed the world-building aspect of the book, the plot itself was disappointing.

Wonderful

Been in a book slump for a while so thought I would try a new author to me and a fantasy which I don’t often read. Loved the storyline and the characters. Was cheering for the heartstone to win. Totally difference experience and very well written. Absolute enjoyed reading this book. Off to see if there are anymore by this author. Thank you for outstanding read.

As far as KU romantasy goes, this was well done. The fantasy and world building elements were definitely there, although it did have some pacing issues. I loved the dynamic between the MC and the LI and it was hooked right away. Ending fell apart a little for me which is why it didn’t quite make 4 stars.

Enjoyable storyline. The book had great characters and l could picture the scenes in my mind. Ie, the dark lands, crumbling walls and turrets and the overall feel of the surrounds.
Loved the characters , the magic and the hearthstone.

The premise is really cool, and I’ll be thinking about it for a while. It makes me view my own home differently, wanting to interact with it with respect and love. The story was good and I’m hoping there’s a sequel!
