A billionaire romance with a small-town feel where a girl trying to achieve her dream meets a boy who is more than just a hero. Sometimes, the hero you wanted might be playing two sides of a war.
All I ever wanted was to be an artist. I never wanted to fall in love.
I spent most of my life behind a paintbrush. Who needed a love life when I could create those feelings with bright colors on canvas? I didn't need a man because I had a dream. A vision of sharing my art with the world. And my dream was coming true. I opened my gallery and finally felt a sense of peace.
Until my dream was quickly snatched from my hands. It started with vandalism and a threat. Before I knew it, everything was out of control. When I think the worst is about to come, a man rushes in from nowhere and saves me.
Kind, gentle, and caring, Liam was my hero. He helped me, he spoiled me, and he showed me what it means to love. At least until his true colors shine through. Liam isn't the man I thought he was. He was a darkness that bled into everything. I never saw it coming.
I didn't see the fire. I didn't smell the smoke. But I felt the burn.
What the heck did I just read? I’m exhausted from all the twists and turns and ins and outs. I absolutely loved Burn (A Billionaire Romance) by Leah Holt. Burn is the story of Liam and Glory. Liam is very secretive about what he is doing in Glory’s town. He never wants to discuss what he does for a living when Glory asks. Glory is an artist, who is still mourning the death of her father. She has her own gallery, which has thankfully allowed her to not only care for herself, but also for her mother, which is a burden and a blessing for her. The book gets right into the story in chapter one, when Glory’s gallery is burglarized and damaged beyond recognition. She enters the gallery not believing what she is seeing when she is attacked by the burglar who was still there. Enter Liam, who saves Glory from the attacker, and calls the police and basically handles the situation. Their chemistry is instant. However, this is not the first time Liam has seen Glory. That’s all I am saying, as I do not want to spoil it for others. As with all Leah Holt books, there is that OMG moment. That moment you are putting two and two together, where the plot is coming together, and you just cannot believe it. How did I not see that coming? Liam and Glory faced challenge after challenge making their relationship hard to move forward. Then, there’s Liam's brother, Jacob…what a gem he was. Leah Holt was new to me when I was honored to be part of the ARC team for The Dark Flower series. I was intrigued by her writing. I have since gone back and read all of her books. She has fantastic character development. Each book has such an intense and angsty plot that has you on the edge of your seat from page 1 until the very last page, and let’s never forget her delicious steamy scenes. Burn is definitely a must read. You will never be disappointed with any book by Leah Holt.
This is a standalone story of love and betrayal. Glory is an artist whose gallery is vandalized and she is terrorized. Every singe piece has been destroyed. But the perpetrator is still there and is about to do unthinkable things when Liam steps in and rescues her. He whisks her away to settle her nerves. One thing leads to another and they fall in bed together. But they keep getting the wrong impressions. So it is surprising when she is threatened again. Glory doesn’t know what to think when she discovers Liam’s connection to the harassment. He is trying to reign in his brother but doesn’t realize how far Jacob takes the intimidation. Is Jacob capable of arson and attempted murder? Will Liam be able to control him? Will Glory and Liam ever get to a happily ever after? This story is full of passion and danger. Just when you think it’s going to work out there is another twist. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
This story had these elements; angst, chemistry, reflection, heartache and HEA. We start with Glory finding her gallery destroyed along with all her hard work. Then she is assaulted by the intruder but saved by a stranger. Liam who is the stranger takes Glory out after the incident to calm her down so she can think more clearly. They spend time together and then BAM something horrible happens and Liam may not be the good guy after all. Glory has a decision to make and it may end up breaking both her and Liam. But will it be the ending we think? One more twist to look for before the end. I enjoyed this story that had a plot with some twists and emotions I could feel along with the characters. Leah is great at bring a story to life so we can read and escape the another place for a view moments. I recommend this book and this author. ~ARC provided in return for honest review~
I absolutely loved this book. Boy did Glory and Liam have a rough start to their relationship. Glory was just trying to keep a roof over her and her mom's head doing the only thing she loves. Then her world gets turned upside down when her building is vandalised and she is attacked. Glory meets Liam when he rescues her from the attack but all is not what it seems. Liam has a secret that could destroy her but his only hope is that she never finds out. This book is so full of different emotions, so many twists and turns some you see but some you don't. I absolutely recommend this book. It was so good.
This is a really good read for which I received an ARC for an honest review. Glory, an artist, has her own gallery which helps keep her head above water as she promised to look after her Mum after her Dad died. On entering her shop one morning she sees it has been vandalised, everything totally destroyed. As she tries to get her head around the reason why, she’s attacked from behind and threatened by a man, a passer by comes to her aid and the man escapes. This is the start of Glory and Liam’s story, a story full of mystery and drama that has all the feels. I loved Liam, and Glory was a perfect match for him.
The plot was strong, it's packed with a lot, many emotions, the story was written well. Leah Holt did a great job on it. Glory and Liam were strong characters, their journey was a rollercoaster, many ups and downs but they made a strong pair, they were drawn to each other, their connection was strong. Even if with everything, these two belong together, both were fighters, especially Glory, she went through a lot. This was a great story, I'd suggest reading it. Thank you, Leah Holt. Wonderful work :)
unfortunately, the book is kind of superficial and was lacking in development. i don't get the connection between the characters, the heroine just feels like she fallen for the hero who saved a damsel in distress which in this case damsel being the heroine herself. additionally, the heroine felt like a bloody doormat to me.
on top of these, the plot is sort of predictable. if you have read tons of book, you can probably gauge how the book will flow. overall i think it's boring and i lost interest halfway through.
Glory is a struggling artist who returns to her gallery one morning to find all her paintings destroyed and an intruder inside and waiting to attack her. In the nick of time Liam happens on the scene and saves her from rape. He takes her under his wing and also seduces her. He has a secret though and is afraid to tell her exactly who he is and why he's in town. There are some confusing details as the story continues and the ending is somewhat hurried and simplistic, but the characters are likeable and the story interesting. Overall, enjoyable.
I first read this story years ago and enjoyed it but I think I enjoyed it more this time around. It is a steamy love story with secrets and a mystery. It is a story about families and the importance of family in different ways. Liam and Glory are great characters and Glory is not only a great artist, she is one smart woman who does what none of the men seem to be able to manage. I do wonder about the woman who bought the painting in th epilogue, I felt she should have some purpose.
Glory and Liam's story is a page turner and it held my attention from beginning to end. I am so glad I set aside time to read this because once I started it I didn't want to put it down. From the well developed characters with intense chemistry to the unexpected twists and turns this is a great read. These two go through a lot in this book and the ending was the cherry on top. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
What a great read this was, how love won over all. Liam and Glory had a very unexpected connection, one that probably shouldn't of happened. Right when her life was falling apart, her prince charming swept her off her feet. This was definitely a bumpy road for these two with a twist I wasn't really expecting at all. Loved these two, especially the ending !
Glory is an artist with her own gallery after working hard for it. She is mourning her father. She walks into her gallery while it's being burglarized, her attacker is stopped by Liam. Liam won't tell Glory why he's in town. Jacob is his brother, could he be a killer as well as an arsonist? A story full of twists and turns.
Wow what amazing read that pulled me in from the start with the roller coaster ride of plot twists and turns. This story is full of energy and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I loved this book with all the characters intense story.
Glory and Liam’s story was full of twists and turns you never see coming. I was able to sit down and read this from beginning to end in a day and a half. I absolutely love Leah’s stories and love feeling like I’m living in them.
