Zebra Code is the bible for job seekers, corporations, and agency personnel that promotes job support for employees. The Zebra with its striking black and white stripes, the book’s title is a natural balance of wealth in both stripes of coaching and mentoring. Andy, the coach, lays down strategies of skills for performance; as he mentors the coachee by providing guidance. This book breaths a harmonious blend of contrasting elements (individual vs. work-site personnel; individual uniqueness vs. corporate culture ; employee vs. manager; coach-coachee relationship; etc) offering valuable tools into gaining and maintaining employment.

I was excited to get a copy of this book as I was starting a career pivot after a company restructuring. As someone who also has an engineering background, I noticed that the author spoke to me in ways that other career coaches hadn’t. I looked at reading this book as an away to increase my skills and visibility with the new role I would be in. I will be reading a 2nd time to deep dive into areas I want to more fully develop personally and professionally. Each chapter was easy for me to read and the evaluation sections made sense. I liked how these were in combination of building a new habit as nothing gets built all at once. I have recommended to a couple of friends as focus is another topic that comes up frequently.

Where has this book been all my life? The Zebra Code offers next-level expert guidance for developing critical career skills we aren’t taught in school. I not only discovered which skills I personally needed to work on most to accelerate my career but how to do it and in the optimal order. I’ll be buying this book in bulk the next time I’m tasked with developing others.

When I started the The Zebra Code program, I was a 50+ professional who had been laid off and needed to figure out my next career chapter. When I recieved the book, I read the introduction and then being my ADHD self and going against what the author suggests, I jumped to the last chapter to read the ending. Boy, am I happy I did the jump.

The last chapter is entitled “My Gift to Find Your Gift”.
Andy’s “Gift” is a reflective quote, “When you look back on your life, what is the common thread that permeates everything you have ever done?…This gift is something you give the world to make it a better place”.

In this quote, you can feel how much heart Andy put into this book, the people he helps, and into his life. This quote made me ask myself, what is my gift and am I using it to the best of my ability?
Once I came up with my gift (this took me time to figure out) and my new life/career goals, I did the skill assessment to evaluate the skills needed to obtain my goals. I am a work in progress, a progress I know I am finally on a track that really is my common thread, thanks to Andrew LaCivita’s The Zebra Code. Good Luck to everyone on their career/life journey.

In 2015, I sent out over 200 job applications with a 1% success rate - I spent countless hours writing and rewriting resumes and cover letters, trying to figure out the best way to showcase my skills, experience, and talents, and nearly started down a similar path last year, stumbled upon one of Andrew's career coaching sessions on YouTube.

Andrew is not only a job search coach, but he is also a career success coach! When Zebra Code was announced, I pre-ordered that day, and waiting (im)patiently by the mailbox - if his hour-long episodes completed shifted my perspectives on communications and conflict management, professional networks, all centering on your value proposition, I knew the deep dive would be transformative!

If you have the chance to join a Zebra Code Community with Andrew answering questions, providing templates and resources, the insights from Q&A alone are worth it.

Andrew is already a very popular and well-respected career coach who has helped countless job seekers find and thrive in new careers. He has already written 3 wonderful books on the hiring process, interviewing challenges & techniques, and goal setting. However, I suspect this book will have an even larger impact on those who follow his programs, as well as anyone brand new to his phenomenal career coaching and leadership advice.

The Zebra Code was written as a working manual with a methodology to continually build the skills necessary to advance and thrive in your career, while enjoying the process. It contains 15 detailed lessons covering skillsets that every professional needs to build or improve. There are also several inspiring and helpful stories derived from over 30 years of research. At the end is a self-evaluation and step-by-step process and plan, which can be tailored for just about anyone, in any industry.
This book is thoughtfully written in an interesting and engaging way and is very difficult to put down once you start. The exercises and templates are extremely helpful to guide anyone who doesn’t know where to start or how to proceed.

In this book, he’ll take you through the skill-building roadmap, which is part of his Leadership Program:
• Producer: Operating Independently – becoming proficient at managing oneself to deliver value.
• Communicator: Interacting with Others – Using communication vehicles to build powerful relationships.
• Influencer: Inspiring Others – Using communication vehicles to inspire positive behavior in others.
• Developer: Leading Teams and Coaching People – Motivating others to achieve a desired outcome.
• Visionary: Creating and Predicting – implementing market-moving ideas while predicting trends.

I highly recommend this book to all professionals regardless of your career stage or experience. This is a book you can continually use and refer back to whenever you need additional guidance to propel your career forward. Thank you, Andrew, for yet another invaluable resource!

'The Zebra Code' is a well-crafted book in the professional development genre that helps us navigate the maze after one lands a job, for career satisfaction and stand-out success.

The standard success route advocated to take the moon shot is to deepen the 'trade skills' we graduated from college with. The savviest among us learn to network well and hone our EQs and apply it at work.

Author, ex-Big5 IT consultant and a global career coach Andrew LaCivita shows us what it else it takes. In this book, he covers the mindset and 15 of the 45-50 or so most important skills that go beyond the 'trade skills' to become a stand-out proffessional. Best of all, he shows us how to develop them - complete with extensive coaching points, assessments, practical lesson plans, monthly exercises, trackers - necessary to complement our 'trade' skills and chart out our ascent.

The 15 lessons in this book are handpicked from among 45 others that form the core of his top-rated 10-year-old Leadership Coaching program, which I subscribe to.

More than a 'must-read', The Zebra Code is a 'MUST-HAVE' - a book I am using to annotate, underline, book mark, refer to, mindset-check, resolve conflicts, weave into my job and track the book's action items. And anticipate keep coming back to long after my first read, as I contine along my career path.

I love the practicality. After reading the book I can go back and implement his suggestions, step by step. I feel as if he made things that are unspoken (ifykyk) and explicit.

I read "The Zebra Code" while between jobs and wanted to brush-up on things I could do to succeed in my next role. This book reads like a text book to the professional habits/routines/practices/behaviors we often have to figure out on our own and/or think we will pick-up or be taught by a great boss or leader. As a regular attendee of Andy LaCivita's online coaching sessions (there are free ones on YouTube), I approached "The Zebra Code" with high expectations—and it did not disappoint.
Andy addresses actions with logical outcomes that help you achieve professional and personal goals. While some of the actions might seem too obvious at first glance such as planning your day with a calendar, I was surprised (and a little embarrassed) to find that I wasn't incorporating a few of them into my routine. Once I started, the impact on my productivity was immediate and noticeable.
Andy's writing style is approachable and engaging, interspersed with relatable stories - it's not clinical. He makes self-awareness important yet easy. Even without following his coaching, the content would be incredibly helpful because he provides clear, actionable steps that can be implemented right away to enhance productivity, health, and professional success.
I recommend "The Zebra Code" to anyone looking for actionable steps to become more productive and successful.

The Zebra Code is a brilliant masterpiece. It enables anyone to get control of their professional life, career, and business whether they are 18 or 80. Andrew writes with an engaging and thoughtful style that keeps your attention and interest. It is a practical and insightful book based upon his years of professional experience. The principles and critical thinking processes can be applied to any area of life, not just your career. Tap into your own internal power and strengths to live and enjoy your life. Figure out what you really want and make a plan to get there the quickest way possible using the information in the book. The Zebra Code will save you a lot of wasted time by avoiding the costly trial and error methods most of us are accustomed to using. Why be average when you can be extraordinary?

The Zebra Code is an informative and enjoyable book to read; it has become my 'go to' guide as I revisit my professional skills, priorities and relaunch my career. The book provides a comprehensive framework for individuals to hone relevant skills for successful personal and professional lives. The Zebra Code sections, chapters and thought provoking exercises build upon each other, leaving the reader with a detailed roadmap of where and how to develop their skills. Every readers' roadmap will be different and catered to their needs. However, Andy's personable nature and writing style makes this self-reflecting journey FUN! I have much to do as I work through the exercises, and learn something new every time!
