Kai Fletcher, small time criminal planner turned reluctant warship captain was drafted into a war older than him by several thousand millennia.
While the Kholdrax grow stronger, Kai and his small band of warships must find the remnants of the Gardranian Armada that didn’t awaken with the rest of their fleet. Opposed at every turn by awakening Kholdrax forces, the Vakness Empire, and the space cops of the Dor’Anian Union, Kai is forced to split his small group to better their chances of finding their missing comrades. To top it all off, his kid brother is along for the ride and causing all kinds of problems.
When anticipated allies become unexpected enemies and join forces with the long list of people already out to get him, it will take all of Kai’s courage and street smarts to survive.
Compared to this, his old life in Chicago’s South Side dodging crooks and gang bangers seems like playground antics.
Book 2 in a rip-roaring Space Opera series from Michael LaVoice!
I really enjoyed the first book, and was looking forward to this one. But by the 19% mark, I’m dropping it. Griff is such a complete a-hole, and so annoying, with his brother making constant excuses for his behavior… I have no interest in continuing.
Great sequel to the first book in the series. It’s always best to see what a friend writes. Kind of surreal. You think to yourself, he’s just a regular guy — then you read one of his books, and you’re like wow! Very cool! Very well-written.
I like this series a lot. The characters are unique and the story continues to get better as we go. I love it when the second book is as good as the first. I’ve already started book 3.
PUBLIC ENEMY, PRIVATE WAR (Book 2) lives up to and surpasses the promise of the first in series! Great character development and interaction, clear, progressive plotting, and enough space battles to satisfy any military sci-fi fan. Bravo!
Kai and his brother Griffin are both now in space helping find the missing Gardranian fleet. Slow start but picks up nicely as the hunt gathers momentum.
