Rage #2

Rampage Unhinged

Rate this book
Stalked. Hunted. Wrecked.
Professor Sasha Petrovitch now belonged to him, body, mind, and soul. Damian broke him down and crushed him into submission. For too long Sasha evaded him.
For too long Damian waited in the shadows.
Now it was his time to awaken. However, happiness lasts for a moment until it’s snatched away, like a thief in the night. Damian has to deal with the consequences of his actions and with it, the hellish nightmare that awaits if he fails.
A bastard king.
A lycan King.
Wolves and the supernatural fear him as the prophecy foretold. The hunter has become the hunted and his half-brother, Antonio won’t rest until he was dead.
Good. Damian has waited a long time for this. Jealous had scorched his insides when he found out his brother had mated with Sasha. Forced a bond onto him, so that they would be connected forever.
It was sick. Wrong.
Damian would gut him for that.
Drink his blood. Burn the skies to ash.
Rip his flesh from his bones before he ever gave Sasha up.

Warning: violent thoughts, violence, gore, dubious consent, stalking, werewolf shifter fantasy, HFN

I am a passionate storyteller, with a love for literature that runs deep in my veins. I enjoy weaving elements of the artistic and unconventional into my tales, which I tell both during the day and at night. My ideal Sunday is spent indulging in a steaming cup of coffee and immersing myself in the pages of the book I am currently captivated by. My all-time favorite movie is American Beauty, and I consider it a classic. My fondest memories are of the fort I built in my basement, which unfortunately had to be dismantled at the request of my mother. My favorite food is Cheetos Puffs, and while I understand the appeal of crunchy Cheetos, I prefer the texture of the puffs. I do not subscribe to the belief in a "Happily Ever After" ending, but I am open to the possibility if circumstances permit.

Quality: 1 or 1.5 stars.
Enjoyment: 3 stars.

Would I read it again? No.
Would I read a sequel? Probably, sure.

I’m clearly in the minority here, but… Well, that was something. It was even more all over the place than the first book. It kind of felt like the apocalypse season of AHS. I really think the author has some great ideas, but her execution is very haphazard. Honestly if this was edited and plotted felt finished, I’d be obsessed with it. It’s a bit of a shame. Still fairly enjoyable in a weird way.

In the end, I’ve read similarly or less rough stories, but it was more fun than those tend to be. Enjoyment holds a lot of weight with me, much more than the quality unless that gets in the way of my enjoyment.

The Good:
—Some interesting ideas like having the villain be a main character and the hero also be a villain
—Queernormative world
—Not a high bard but this is the best Snow White gay retelling I’ve read
—I still felt chemistry between the MCs despite all the issues in the book
—Quick to read
—I like that Sasha wasn’t completely passive in everything. So often in omegaverse the omegas sit and wait, cry, and don’t have many opinions. Sasha has a lot of opinions, and I like that.

The Not So Good
—The editing feels like getting hit in the head with a shovel. By which I mean it’s often disorienting and painful. And it makes it hard to figure out what the heck is going on
—Many typos
—Many mistakes made by the author not knowing the correct phrase or word
—Consistent inconsistency
—The action scenes were sadly both confusing (both why they were happening and what was happening) and boring
—Some massive tonal shifts from one paragraph to the next sometimes

The ???????:
—“Sasha knew he was much older than Damian.” WTF, this again? Sasha is 33 and Damian is 28. If it was reversed and Damian was 40 and Sasha was 19 it would be “normal.” Honestly this made me wonder if this author is in her early 20s or something.
—Moreno has rainbow ribbons and sparklers and balloons and white poster board and bouquets of roses and easy access to Kmart and an aquarium in their mountaintop war torn camp where they all dress like medieval warlords? Literally it says “they were out in the wilderness with little provisions.”
—LOL when Sasha was like “our dads are 3 years older than they were, they’ll be dead soon.” Like, he’s 33 and Damian is 28, their dads are likely in their 50s!
—“all beaming and holding signs with words printed in Sasha’s cursive writing on them. Sasha took a moment to admire his handy work. The white board signs were cut in nice squares with the words: will you marry me? on each box. Sasha took his time with the letters, red paint stained his fingertips, but he didn’t care because it looked so beautiful.Damian would definitely be impressed with this.” Honestly this ALSO made me wonder if this author is in her early 20s or something.

Content Warnings:
—Darker romance but also spoofy randomly?
—Forgiveness of abusers with minimal/no change in behavior or effort
—Explicit sex scenes (4 scenes focusing on anal sex)
—Sasha has a lot of fantasies of sexual kinks such as people walking in on him and Damian, how wrong some things are, some pain, being pinned down, etc.. Damian still has dark fantasies about rough sex and even breaking Sasha, and Sasha enjoys this greatly.
—Infertility
—Vomiting
—Kidnapping
—Eating uncooked animals (mostly off screen)
—Past torture and humiliation by a parent
—Passive suicidal thoughts by an MC (believes things would be better if he gave up and let a curse kill him)
—Jealousy and possessiveness
—Carelessly harming one’s partner (Damian is rough and somewhat careless physically with Sasha, and Sasha enjoys it even when he’s irritated)
—Physical abuse of Sasha by Antonio out of reactionary anger
—Victim blaming
—Threats of rape against Sasha by Antonio
—Blaming what someone was wearing related to threats of rape
—Unprotected sex without discussion after one character had many, many sexual partners recently
—Mild blood and biting to break skin during sex
—Lots of random murder sprees

Tropes and Tags
—Rough sex
—Evil brother (does this count if they’re both bad people?)
—Size difference (Damian is tall and muscular, Sasha is tall-ish but very thin)
—Omegaverse (mpreg is possible in universe but not seen in the story)
—Shifters (though there’s very little if any shifting)
—Sort of vampirism (a character needs human blood to survive)

Other:
—Dual 3rd person POV
—No cheating, but Sasha is forcibly bonded to Antonio, which forces a physical attraction to him. Also, Damian sleeps with many other people a night over the 3 years he thinks Sasha is dead.

Rampage Unhinged is the second book in the Rage series. They should be read in order or you'll be lost. This picks immediately following the previous one. This was like a train wreck where you cannot stop reading, your heart is racing! It's fast paced and well written and I was so worried for Sasha! Freakin loved it!!

Rampage Unhinged: Decimated, the second book of the Rage series, kept me guessing because it is quite unpredictable. I thought might happen didn't happen and vice versa, I thought wouldn't happen, did happened. I found the world building interesting and unique. Overall, it was a good read.

I feel like I’ve run a marathon after this book. Wow. The story picks up straight from the cliffhanger of the first book then it’s just chaos…full speed chaos. It was fantastic.

Sasha and Damian are certainly at the centre of the action in this book. It’s unrelenting. I don’t want to give away the plot as will spoil the first book if you haven’t read it, but things turn to utter shit in this book for both guys but in different ways. It’s frustrating, complicated and thrilling.

My heart just went out to Sasha for this entire book, what a nightmare he has to endure. Alongside him his suffering hunk of a mate Damian. They just couldn’t catch a break.

It was brilliantly written, it was fast paced, a lot of answers to questions you would have had in the first book. It had love, heat, possessiveness, betrayal, anger, violence, blood thirst and determination to right the wrongs.

Absolutely loved it, great follow up to the first book (which again was great). Cannot wait for the third as itching to see what happens next.

If you enjoy shifter, demon and fae stories with a lot of darkness to it and an intense love story with everything you want in an alpha, you will love this. You have to read the first book though, this isn’t a standalone. Enjoy!.

The second book takes off just where the first left off, and from there it's anarchy...high-octane chaos. I thought it was great.
There's little doubt that Sasha and Damian are at the heart of this story. It never lets up. I don't want to spoil the first book for anyone who hasn't read it, but things go from bad to worse in this one for both guys in their own unique ways. It's aggravating, perplexing, and exciting all at the same time.
What a horror Sasha is living through, I felt terrible for him during the entire book. Alongside him was his handsome companion Damian, who was also going through a tough time. Nothing seemed to go right for them.
Very well-written, very fast-paced, and full of answers to questions raised in the first book. It was full of passion, possessiveness, fury, violence, a craving for blood, and a will to set things right.
I thought it was an excellent continuation of the first novel (which again was great). Itching to get my hands on the third installment to find out what happens next.
You'll adore this book if you're a fan of dark, dramatic love stories with shifters, demons, or faeries whose alpha male protagonist has all the qualities you could want. This is not a stand-alone novel, though, and the first one must be read in order.

I start by saying that you must read the first book before getting into this one. I didn't, and I was a bit lost in the story. Usually, I'm good with reading out of order, but this round, I must admit it might have affected my rating. I read the blurb for book one and thought I had book1, but no, I had book 2. I should have stopped reading book two and read book one because it started in the middle of an event, and I didn't know the players. But I lost myself in the story when I finally caught on. I was greatly surprised by the humor when I was in for a dark tale—the bickering banter between various characters was a highlight. I'm a bit lukewarm on the romance. The romance seemed almost seemed one-sided for the most part. Damian's obsession was written well, if not enhanced, with whatever metamorphosis he had going on. I know I'm at a disadvantage with not reading the first book because I didn't just understand the point of the war or care about its plot. I plan on reading the first book before the third one is released. I'll revisit this review after I better understand this world.

four stars + one because of how unexpectedly fun it was!

I usually never read books with any kind of cliffhanger ending, but the blurb of the first novel, which is a little misleading to be honest, really drew me in. And though I didn't find what I was expecting, I still found the characters and the premise intriguing enough to continue reading past the first book.

This book picks up immediately after the major, and thrilling, cliffhanger of the first and ties several threads together. The books does suffer a little from too many fantastical elements; it's almost like watching a gay anime! But the fun factor is enough to overlook - or revel in - the hectic pace.

Thankfully, the cliffhanger is very minor and the ending is satisfying and sweet enough that it shouldn't keep anyone who never reads unfinished books from delving into this one.

The reason I'm leaving a review is because I'm surprised that this novel only has one -(for now)!- despite it being better than dozens of other books with literally hundreds of reviews.

I'm looking forward to the last part of the series.

Wow full on action
Please make sure to read the first book in the series so you get the best out of the second book you really don’t wanna miss this this is a fantastic series so far. This second book continues from the cliffhanger that we were left with and you just don’t know which way is up I’m sat here thinking about what I want to write but what I don’t want to do is give away the story plot i truly don’t want to give away a lot because you have to experience it for yourself but I will say you will be on the edge of your seat for this book Sasha and Damian are really put through the ringer. And once again it leaves you waiting for a third book! in some ways I wish I would read the whole series one book after another so you’re not left waiting. Another fantastic book.

(In my opinion the first book, Rage Unleashed, must be read first).

Sasha is bonded to two wolves, one by force and the other by choice. The first one is definitely crazy and the other one will probably destroy the world. He is in love with Damian, (the possible world destroyer).

This book was both entertaining and confusing in equal measure. Damian’s fall into darkness was well done, making me believe his reality. I had such sympathy for Sasha. He was horribly mistreated by both wolves who proclaimed to love him. The war was confusing at best and I just didn’t understand it very well.

This was a strange book with moments of extreme dark and at the same time gratifying brightness.

I received an arc of this book.

Damian and Sasha have an incredible bond, but there are so many complications. Sasha becomes a pawn in the battle between Damian and Antonio and there are many other characters here all with schemes afoot both for personal aggrandisement and for the advancement of family and pack and the destruction of others. Definitely read the first book first and you'll be as impatient as the rest of us for February to get here with book three's conclusion to the dark, twisty, hot series.

I received this ARC through NetGalley. Thank you for the early read.

4 out of 5 stars from me. This is the second book in the series from the author. It was still very well done and completely mind-blowing. It keeps you on the edge of your seat guessing what will happen next. Once you think you know what is happening they throw you a plot twist.

I will recommend this to my audience only if they read book one first.
