Four authors. Four stories. Four times the drama. Grab your seat at the table because the authors of BriAsh Media have teamed up to serve a Thanksgiving you'll always remember.
Sleeping with the A Pre-Thanksgiving Nightmare
Thanksgiving was a time for celebration and Veyonna Davis, known as Yonna, couldn’t wait to introduce her new boo thing and share some exciting news with her family. While she was ready to settle with her new man, her baby daddy, Malachi, didn’t seem to take rejection well. With the support from her man, she stood firm against his requests to reunite. Malachi seemed to retreat and accept her decision until it was too late. Will Yonna remove Malachi from her life for good or will he do unto her what she tried to do to him?
What Goes Around Comes Around
Renae Walker is the wife of one of the sports industry’s top NFL players, Mahji Wells. After a gruesome level of betrayal from her best friend, which just so happens to be the day before Thanksgiving, she’s left to figure out life beyond the field lines and screaming fans. Not only for her but her young daughter.
Chantel is a carefree hottie with no limits as to how far she’ll go—even when it comes to the ones she may love. However, sometimes, breaking the rules comes with a set of the craziest consequences.
Karma will always reveal herself in the ugliest ways, and as the old adage goes… what goes around definitely comes around.
Keep it in the Family
Kayla Jones believed she had an idyllic marriage—a beautiful home, a devoted husband, and a delightful seven-year-old daughter named Janiya. With Thanksgiving on the horizon, Kayla eagerly anticipated cherished moments with family and the creation of her delectable sweet potato pies.
However, joy proves fleeting as Kayla receives devastating news from an unexpected source, threatening to dismantle the perfect world she held dear. An inconvenient truth, previously concealed, will unravel itself on Thanksgiving day.
In the face of this revelation, Kayla comes to the realization that appearances can be deceiving. What may seem flawless on the surface can harbor imperfections within. As the veneer of perfection peels away, Kayla grapples with the understanding that blood ties do not always define family.
Old Flames
Kiersten Bainbridge is a business attorney in Montgomery, Alabama. Living up to the expectation of her husband, Darius, she's doing things, as he wants them done. For Thanksgiving, she decides to go home for the holiday. Her old stomping grounds bring about repressed thoughts and emotions. When she runs into her first love, Hassan Rodgers, an ex-con who was recently paroled, feelings start to boil over. This is a story about love, betrayal, family, secrets, and forgiveness. Time brings about a change, but some old flames die hard.
Four vastly different stories centering around the Thanksgiving holiday, that gave you a jaw dropping moment. Part 1- Yonna gets caught up not knowing who she is messing with. Part 2- Renee comes home to a heartbreaking scene, but it was the escape she needed. Chantel believes she on the come up, until karma comes for her. Part 3- Sean really? 👀 Kayla was not taking this L lying down and got her lick back and then some. Part 4- Kay stuck in a marriage on its last leg, goes home for Thanksgiving and bumps into her first love. With her husband showing his entire ass, you know how this thing goes. Enjoyed these stories.
Yonna and Malachi was good until they weren't. They were just toxic. Yonna was breaking her back to keep the bills paid. Yeah she was wrong to hook with Jonas while she was with Malachi. Then she finds out that she was pregnant, she ecstatic. Yonna told Jonas, but he was still waiting his girl. Yonna was excited to introduce Jonas to her family but it never came to be.Malachi had it in his mind if I can't have you nobody can. He was just selfish. Renae was a good one. Chanel wanted her life so bad that she didn't know what all entailed. Mahji is a no good dirty, coke-head. ninja to let his boys do that to Chanel. He is surrounded by yes people. Jimbo showed the world what he is really about. He still blamed Chanel. Aaliyah is about to be in the same position as Chanel and Renae but she got lucky. His sister is a hater. Kayla and Sean worked on their marriage after she got her lick back with his brother Chopp. Kay and Darius marriage is a disaster from the start. He was complaining about her weight. All because his daddy thought it would be a good idea to run for mayor. Her brother boyfriend blew up Darius spot. Darius was cheating on Kay the whole time. Kay already made up in her mind that she going to sleep Hassan. Her father had been sick for a while and he passed away. Now her Hassan are married and got a baby. Thanksgiving won't be the same ever.
This book was an anthology…with there being 4 different stories. All of the stories were great & these authors did an amazing job. All of these authors were new to me authors except for 1. Let me sum up these stories right quick.
Story 1- this 1 was a lil heart breaking and had a sad ending.
Story 2- You know that saying “you lose ‘em how you got ‘em”? Yeah, Karma tore that azz up.
Story 3- This story had me cracking up. For anyone who saw the movie “Soulfood”, all ima say is almost every family has a cousin Faith. Iykyk😂😂😂🤦🏽♀️.
Story 4- all I could do was shake my head at this one. But I’m happy for the happy ending.
This book has some great reads that kept me reading. These authors delivered some fire short stories. With drama, secrets, lies, mental and physical abuse. These stories have well developed characters, some likeable, some not so much. I enjoyed every story, and would have loved more.
These four stories kept me on my toes. Totally different from a typical romance. These brought the plot twists and family drama that every black family has during Thanksgiving. Bravo 👏🏾
All the stories were so good!!!! The first left me with tears! The second one left me wanting more!!! The third one had me smh! The fourth one had me in tears and made my heart happy. Great stories!
