An Evergreen Desire

Rate this book
We're going to need a Christmas miracle to save Green Acres Tree Farm... and to keep our relationship a secret.

When I lost my agency, I had no choice but to move back with my parents in small town Maymont and regroup. Going from being one of the top marketers in my city to a receptionist at the local Christmas tree farm has been humbling, to say the least, but everything changes when I find out that the farm is on the brink of financial ruin.
Business Troubles? A marketing emergency? These are problems I can solve.
The owner, Sam, is one of the most kind-hearted people I've ever met. It doesn't hurt that he's handsome, either. He's convinced that I've got the skills to save the farm that's been in his family for generations. If I can stop him from feeling the same heartbreak I felt when I lost my business, I will.
But this goes deeper than wanting to be helpful. I'm doing this because I'm falling for him.
Late nights spent scheming on how to save the business turn into forbidden kisses and an unmistakable undercurrent of desire. He's falling for me too, even though we both know it's not a good look for the boss to date his employee. Can we keep our relationship a secret from the rest of the crew while pulling off a Christmas miracle to save Green Acres Tree Farm?

An Evergreen Desire is a spicy, small town Christmas romance with a secret workplace relationship. This book is part of the Seasons of Maymont series. Each standalone story takes readers through a festive celebration of the changing seasons with a happily ever after.

This was a cute, quick read. I am very easy to please, especially when the book is short and I can read it in under 4 hours. However, there was one thing that kept this from being a 4star review: the typos. I honestly usually can blow them off. But in earlier drafts of this book the main character was apparently named Hannah and they missed updating that in two separate places. Next, the author spelled shudder as shutter more than once which makes me think it wasn’t a typo but that they thought it was spelled that way.
Finally (and honestly most importantly and why I am writing this review) there is a review that rates this book as 5🌶️. It is definitely a 3🌶️. The spice is super well written. The first scene? 🧑‍🍳 💋 But if you are a regular 5🌶️ reader I feel I must clear that up so you don’t go in with expectations that won’t be met.

Super cute but a few scenes, and a lot of typos/errors, took me out of the story.
I'd still love to read the other seasons and hope the author is able to edit it a little more thoroughly because the premise to this one was adorable... and so was the marshmallow MMC.

5/5 Spice 🌶️ \

Thank you so much Rebecca Goldie for sending an ARC of this beautiful and cozy read, I absolutely enjoyed it and couldn't put it down.

This cozy Christmas story was honestly the perfect read to welcome in the holidays. I was a fan of "An Irresistible Harvest" - the story of Ethan and Hannah, and was excited when I found out about Sam and Mallory's story being released. It was nice seeing mentions of previous characters from Maymont and seeing how they progressed after the Autumn season. I truly hope there will be more books of our favorite characters in Maymont in the future.

Possible Spoilers ahead (you've been warned)***

The dynamic between Sam and Mallory is very cute and gives off soft boy x independent girl vibes to which they balance each other very well. Though their romance seemed to be fast pace, I appreciate the author having the FMC address it and express that it was "meant to be." Honestly, it was very fitting for the couple and adds to the holiday miracle. This book could honestly pass for a Hallmark Christmas movie and I would GLADLY enjoy it. The spice in this book was WOO, pretty good but the story itself is quite adorable yet slightly predictable as it was a boss x employee trope.

Would I recommend this book?
Yes, it was a fun and easy read for the holiday season approaching- not to mention some good spicy scenes LOL. There are some slight grammatical errors but I was able to breeze on with the story.

On to my next book!

** Honest ARC Review**

This book moved way, way, way faster than I was expecting. This cozy and quick lead lets you fully enjoy all of your time with Sam and Mallory, as they waste no time in expressing their feelings for one another. Mallory is a force to be reckoned with, and seem to be exactly what Sam needs, in more ways then one. She takes charge everywhere from business meetings to the bedroom and is the leading female lady we needed. Sam is the sweet guy next door trying to run the family business, but really, his love is always the trees at Green Acres Tree Farm. Well, and Mallory of course.

These two were a perfect match for one another and I felt both characters had the right amount of tension, angst, and resolution. One character did not overshadow the other in any area, giving a well balanced plot.

This story line had so much potential for more. I wanted more about the tree farm, more of them learning about each other outside of work and the bedroom, and more of the spice that Rebecca Goldie delivers.

Despite some editing errors, I loved this book. Mallory is a bit down on her luck with her business folding but she still does her best in this new job where she meets Sam. Sam is such a golden retriever; he's sweet, sensitive, has such heart, and doesn't mind letting Mallory take control. I loved that she was the assertive one and even had most of the control with the spicy scenes, it's not often you get that type of dynamic and it was so refreshing and exciting. There was a little bit of corniness with Sam calling her his angel but I can easily overlook that. I also loved how well they communicated with each other for the most part, Mallory did have a disappointing bit with her negative thoughts on her friend but she realized her mistake and moved forward. Overall this was a great, short, holiday read with a lot of love and spice.

Mallory returns to her hometown of Maymont after her business fails and gets a job at Sam's Tree Farm. They become friends while trying to save his business, and after a snowstorm traps them together in a cabin, their relationship takes a romantic turn. I love that Mallory is portrayed as a focused and driven woman, while Sam is a sweet and caring guy. "An Evergreen Desire" by Rebecca Goldie is a quick and relaxing read with cozy and festive vibes. This book is an excellent story of love and business that will leave you wanting more. It can be read as a standalone, but reading "An Irresistible Harvest" first adds a lot to the reading experience.

An Evergreen Desire is a solid effort; it is lighthearted in a Hallmark way but offers the bonus of spice for the romance reader. Sam is a sweet, golden retreiver hero, who struggles with the responsibility of running a company and prefers to be out in nature. Mallory is a plus-size alpha female with business savvy and a jaded past. While they seem like opposites, their characters just work.

Unfortunately, the plot gets dragged down in places by Sam's worries and circular thoughts. While I understand they were written to expand on his character's tendency to over analyze, they mostly bogged the reader down.

Tropes: golden retriever male, alpha female, plus-size female, one bed, office romance, she falls first, small town, Christmas romance

Cute book, gave me all the small town feels!

Giving it 3 stars, because it had a lot grammar mistakes, doesn't seem like it went through an editor. Also, the male's pov seemed like it was a girl, just saying and thinking things that they wouldn't in my opinion. When I actually started reading I though Sam was a girl, short for Samantha and then realized this was the love interest lol. The ending and something that happens seemed a little rushed.

Other than that, it was a cute and light read.

Cute Christmas romance

I enjoyed the book. I love that even though Mallory had lost everything, she was still determined to move on.
I didn’t really care for the guilt she had about losing her previous business though. Sam is a sweet character, but a little soft for a leading male character for my tastes.
I liked that moving back home was a good experience for Mallory. But my goodness, the relationship between her and Sam moved awfully fast.
(And just FYI, unfortunately, the bonus epilogues are no longer available.)

Sam Ashforth and Mallory Fisher are boss and employee, who become friends while working to save his Christmas tree farm. Until a winter storm snows them in together in a one room log cabin… then the sparks fly and it’s all about sneaking in quickies when the other tree farm employees aren’t around.

There is a happy ending, Sam builds some backbone and business skills and Mallory learns to be less of a shark while still helping the tree farm be successful.

This story is so sweet and really pulled me in! Ignoring the grammatical and spelling mistakes (which don’t bother me), I liked the pace of the story. The ending “twist” was a little predictable and rushed, but the wrap up of the story was warm and fuzzy. The spicy scenes were great, snd I love the plot of a take charge women and golden retriever man. I plan to read the other stories in this series!

A fun festive read. After losing her own business, Mallory takes a job as receptionist at Sam's christmas tree farm. Will they become more than work colleagues? I liked how it was told from both points of view.

I have nothing to say about this book: it was short and kinda witty sometimes but the fast-pacing of the book became also the worst part of it, making the story a rollercoaster.
Although I must say I enjoyed the presence of a heartwarming ending, without adding a non-needed plot twist.

Sam stop calling her angel it is so cringe. This book took me 8 days to read because every time I picked my kindle up and read a few pages I internally cringed. It went way too fast for me, and I know it’s a shorter book but I felt like they were in love within 10 days of meeting eachother. Meh.

Such a sweet read! Loved getting to know Sam and Mallory, as well as the whole crew. Would have been nice for Hannah and Ethan to make a cameo. I cannot wait to be back in Maymont this spring 🥰

Cute

I liked the premise, but some of the writing is hard to follow, some sentences are just confusing. I think an editor would be beneficial.

I like the dual POV and storyline.

It was a cute story to start, but I could not get past the editing. I also don't like when women propose.

Aside from some spelling mistakes and a plotline that moves faster than the speed of light, I enjoyed the story. But also, THE CABIN SCENE.

It's a cozy quick read! Although not perfect I still found It enjoyable.

I feel like the story has a lot more potential.
I liked that fact that the side characters were introduced slowly but i feel like they weren't mentioned enough!
There are a lot of characters that could have made interesting plot lines. Most of the book is an interaction between Sam and Mal which got repetitive at times.
