Best friends, Amelia and Amaru, have done everything together for the past thirteen years, including raise their children together. For those around them, love radiates from the duo on a soul level that makes them question why they haven’t taken things further. One failed relationship after another reminds them why their friendship is so important. No amount of sex or romance is worth risking the bond they share.
When Amelia’s questionable choices in men causes Amaru to view her differently, he can’t stop himself from wondering if he can become the exception to her no dating friends rule.
With a promise of one night in a hotel room, will the best friends become lifetime lovers, or will surrendering to their lust cause them to destroy the platonic family and security they’ve built?

Yes, I am satisfied with the way this story concluded. I expected Amaru and Amelia to find their friendship was a placeholder for their true calling. Best friends make the best partners because they already love one another. Period.
2.75⭐️🌶️🌶️ I just would like to say the beginning of the book did not flow very well. I had to stop myself from DNFing this book. I really like the relationships that each of the MCs had with the other’s child. I did not like that. Both of the villains were their respective ex-partners. I love that it was an actual friends-to-lovers story and they ended with the potential to be together forever. I liked the connection that the children had also and how the author discussed mental health with teenagers.
This book was fine. I enjoyed book 1 more. The Female narrator in the audiobook made an odd choice to do a British accent even though the FMC is from Memphis where the book takes place. Everybody’s so creative!
This was a really good book that held my attention from beginning to end. I enjoyed getting Amelia’s friends to lovers story. From the outside looking in, it was clear to see that Amelia and Amaru were perfect for each other and I’m glad they were able to put their fears aside and get their happily ever after. I loved the friendship and chemistry between these two. Their friendship bond and connection made it easy for them to finally transition into lovers and I loved that they constantly checked in with each other to make sure they stayed on the same page both as a couple as in parenting their children. I’m looking forward to getting Jeremy’s story after his apology.
I love a good friends to lovers romance. It’s always refreshing to see them realize their feelings and go all in. That’s what I got from Milli and Ru. In my head I was wondering what took so long. They were practically married without the romance or legalities. The kids were so cute and I loved how they clung to one another. Milli’s father and stepmother were just…terrible. Her brother ticked me off too, but I see that he’s trying to redeem himself. Ru’s brothers just need counseling and I think they’ll be good. Now I can’t wait for Jeremy’s story.
Amelia and Amaru...be still my heart. I loved the progression of their relationship from friends to lovers. The way they were present for one another and their children made my heart happy.
This book was exceptionally written and I loved every minute of it!!!…I was sooo happy for Ru and Amelia!!!…They definitely deserved to find happiness with each other!!!…
I loved Amaru and Amelia both as individuals and a couple. They had slow burn but was happy they made that transition from friends to lovers.
This book had so many loser parents. That dumb b Veronica said when her baby turns 5 then her first can come visit. If I could punch a fictional through a screen she’s high on the list. That dumb b Veronica said when her baby turns 5 then her first can come visit. If I could punch a fictional through a screen she’s high on the list.
I was crushed for Alicia when her dad decided he didn’t want to see. Ru and Milli think the kids are fine but they are going to need therapy. Milli is a pr8me example of the impact of a neglectful parent can have on a child all the way until adulthood. I think they all need it, the children, her and Ari due to the loss of his father. They are trying to provide the kids a loving environment so that’s a good start.
Ru tripped me out when he respond it Millie’s “This is just sex?”question “I don’t know. We’ll talk about that in the morning. What do you say?” I’m sorry, I love Ru but he would’ve been waiting by himself. I wouldn’t have risked it to talk about it in the morning. Dafuq. I’m glad he got it right though.
And I can’t leave this quote out by him “Ripping those clothes off you tonight and making love to your body until morning will be my highest honor and pleasure.” Ok sir!!!!
I hope Jeremy can turn from a villain to a hero. Look forward to reading his story.
This was unexpected greatness. I literally finished the first book and this popped up--I didn't realize I had started a series but I was so glad that I had because Amelia and Ru's story was better...and hotter than their friends'. Without realizing they were already in love and building a life for themselves and their children, Ru and Amelia gambled on themselves and seized the opportunity to explore a loving, lasting, romance. They had wonderful friends and supportive families--except Amelia's dad and Ru's ex--who can literally take a long walk off of a ragged short cliff.
Ru was probably the most loving, gentle and expressive book bae of all time. He was an alpha male that took his time and did EVERYTHING right and made it look so effortless. If I could give this read 20 stars, I would!
Title: Her Exception 2: A Friends to Lovers Romance Author: B. Love Publisher: Prolific Pen Pusher Series: The Office Series Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: Five Review: "Her Exception 2" by B. Love
My Sentiments:
'Her Exception 2: A Friends to Lovers Romance' was indeed a good read of how two best friends, Amelia and Amaru, having been together as friends with their children for over thirteen years, finally realize there is more for them. This author gives the reader one exciting and intriguing read of how their friendship turns into a loving situation. Much of this came from their friendship that had been established with their children, moms being friendly, Amaru's brothers and friends.
The story comes together so beautifully that it gives the reader a good story by the end, where everyone seems happy for the most part.
Amelia lived with a lot of past hurts but her one constant was her Best friend Amaru! Not only were they best friends their children were as well! They were truly a cute family once they got over their uncertainty about crossing the line! Her father was a trip and Amaru was grieving the loss of his dad! Alisia was so sad about not knowing her pitiful excuse of a father ,and Veronica AJ's trifling mama! Neither one of them deserved the kids love so it was good they had Amelia and Amaru! I really loved reading about them discovering their love for one another! Glad to see Jeremy finally acting like Amelia's big brother and not like a jerk anymore! Loving this series B!
Her Exception 2 no doubt was a good read. Although Amelia and Amaru had been friends for over a decade, things quickly change when they start to see each other in a romantic way. Both had past traumas with partners with commitment issues that left them both as single parents. The kid’s relationship was the best, they truly loved each other as brother and sister.
While Amelia and Amaru were good friends, they seemed to falter a bit transitioning to lovers and something deeper. Their love in comparison to their friendship was a bit lukewarm sadly in my opinion. I really felt bad for Amelia due to her horrible father and step-mom! Those two were just terrible people. Up next is Jeremy, so I’m not sure how I feel about that!
I love a good friends to lovers romance and this one was perfect. Amelia and Amaru were so in sync with each other that it was hard to believe neither of them ever thought about each other in a romantic way. When they transitioned into a romantic relationship it was so beautiful to read. They were so supportive of each other through all of the changes that went on with each other. Trent and Veronica were trash for not wanting to be active parents in their kids lives. Veronica was top tier trash cause ma'am how you gone say it's gonna take your 5 or 6 years to adjust to having another baby and you don't want your firstborn around while you do that. Overall this book gave me all the feels seeing this love story unfold.
Yes I truly enjoyed this story.. I love the connection between Rue, Millie, Lis and AJ. The open communication that they all had was breathe taking. Love how Rue and Millie came to be they were already operating as a family husband and wife without really realizing it. Also love that fact that this book had minimal to no drama. It was a refreshing feeling not have those emotions flow through you as you read even if in case cause it’s needed, but was nice to pure love flow more than anything else. Rue is book bae. I can’t wait to see what Jeremy bring to the table.
I will always love a friends to lovers story, and I was glad to see how Amelia and Amaru's friendship florished into a relationship.
I thought it was cute how much they loved each other and how their children loved each other as well. I really loved Amaru's character, loved the way he carried himself, and just what an overall amazing man he was. That situation with Eric made his character stand out even more to me.
I found Amelia to be a bit of a people pleaser and was glad she found her voice near the end.
If anything, I would say that the romance tended to take a back seat with everything else that was going on, but overall, I enjoyed it.
Amelia (Milli) and Amaru have been best friends since their law school days. They are are also co-parenting their children together. With Milli latest relationship ending, both of them start looking at each other as more than friends. This was such a cute and heart-warming friends to lovers story. It just gave me good feels from the beginning to the end. I loved the chemistry and communication that Milli and Ru had. The relationship between AJ and Lis was also enjoyable to read as well. They had each other's backs just like Milli and Ru had each other's backs. If friends to lovers is your favorite trope, you won't be disappointed with this book.
😮💨🥴…there’re a couple of characters I need to invite to a back alley❗️How does mother and or father relinquish their parental rights or has yo be coerced into having a relationship with you child😡☹️⁉️That’s absolutely disgraceful‼️Otherwise, “Her Exception 2: A Friends to Lovers Romance (The Office Series 2 of 3) was a good read. Milli & Ru just needed to relinquish the deadweight placeholders (Darron & Taylor) and accept their transformation from platonic friends to the formality of paramours. …🔒Williams family of four 😘🥰‼️
I really enjoy a friends-to-lovers story. It's always nice to see them realize their feelings and take the leap. That's exactly what happened with Amelia and Amaru. I wondered why it took so long, as they were almost like a married couple without the romance or paperwork. The kids were adorable, and I loved how close they were. Amelia and Amaru were so in tune with each other, it was surprising they hadn't thought of romance before. Their transition into a romantic relationship was beautiful to read, and they supported each other through every change.
Amellia had gone through so much because of her relationship with her father and brother. It was the reason she had never had a decent relationship and Alisia's father was nonexistent. She and Amaru didn't want to mess up their friendship by blurring the lines, but that was farther from their truth. Once they explored true feelings, nothing changed. Their love became stronger and the kids become happier. Everyone seemed to be happier. Awesome read!
A true friends to lovers romance story. This well written book flowed well and kept my attention. Amelia’s friendship with Amaru was so beautiful. They stayed by each other during each other’s failed and/or nonresistant relationships. So when their feelings started to turn romantic for each other, they were very cautious. I absolutely loved the relationship that they had with each other’s child. I would definitely like to read a follow-up of these couples.
Beautiful story. You gotta love the kids. Wish they had more of a role…they were that awesome. lol. I listened to the audiobook and was very annoyed that the woman narrator sounded like she was British. Ummmm. Huh? This is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. The other characters were there in some aspect….but not so much that you needed more of their backstory than was provided. Best friends to lovers. Thumbs up on this and the previous book. Now on to the next!
Her Exception 2: A Friends to Lovers Romance The office Series)
This book was a Great Read it gave us a great black romance story. I loved the Alpha Males introduced to us in this book they were smart and sexy and their mates were just as smart and intelligent and beautiful. True love exploded from best friends. I would recommend this book to read.
Amaru and Amalia are best friends and single parents. Each have 1 child and they co-parent their children. They are best friends, but going from best friends to lovers isn’t easy when they have to account for their actions and how it will affect their children. This is such a good love story and they are just so cute together!
In another episode of lousy parents, I am happy that Ru and Milli were able to carve out a unique friendship parenting their kids. It turning to romance was icing on the cake. I’m ready to see what you do with Jeremy😏
Yes, Yes, YES!! This is truly my favorite troupe... They have literally been each others everything for years but never crossed the friendship line. Then one day, boom the opportunity that sent that dormant spark through them... Lit a whole inferno! 🔥
A good read with all kinds of love. From friendship, to family, to lovers. I enjoyed this book and all of the characters. This series has become one of my favorites this year. This author never fails to deliver a five star read.
