The Copybook Tales

Rate this book
THE COPYBOOK TALES follows Jamie and Thatcher, two friends with a dream of making comics. When Jamie starts going through his "copybooks," journals he'd kept of his high school misadventures, the two find the inspiration to create stories all their own. Through ups and downs, accomplishments and setbacks, THE COPYBOOK TALES explores the story of storytellers. And while the tale is rooted in the culture that has arisen around comics, it's not about comics, it's about taking the chance to follow your heart. Reprinting J. Torres and GOTHAM ADVENTURES artist Tim Levins' classic comic mini-series, all the mini-comics, and several unreleased pages and illustrations, THE COPYBOOK TALES is a must-have for any comic fan.

Like The Escapists this book is easily self-conscious because it's a graphic novel. But it's not nearly as mature as The Escapists. It doesn't meld in and out of time as interestingly. The main idea of this book is to be self-conscious--once I realised that, there wasn't as much to care about as I wanted to care about.

Another great comic. It is an interesting tale that moves from present day to the past.
Great story. It shows what comics can be outside of the super hero realm.

Collection of short stories that is somewhat uneven but a pleasant diversion. Nothing too deep here but in good spirit.
