As good as I thought the first book was, this book is even better. Many authors have that quality first book, then in their follow on, the quality declines as they grasp for plots to extend the story or start blathering on about their personal preferences for love, life, food choices, political beliefs and all other what not. Mark doesn't.

Instead, this story puts it's foot on the throttle in chapter one, then brings you on a careening, edge of the seat ride right till the very end. A brilliant job of giving you enough information to guess where you may be going, and then providing surprises that take you to places you never thought you'd go. Great answers to questions from book one - and by the end - you'll have plenty of new questions that will leave you waiting for book three!

Well done.

Just finished this after re-reading The Pocket and the Pendant ... WOW. This book swallows the first book whole! The leaps from Pocket to Travelers is like the leap from the The Hobbit to Fellowship of the Ring -- it has the same characters, but a much bigger and expanded world and stakes. The writing is much better in this book as well, Mr. Jeffrey has learned a lot since his first outing. He managed to touch on every theme and idea I have an interest in once again, a very philosophical book. AWESOME BOOK!! Two thumbs up!!!

*I received a free copy of this book through GoodReads First Reads in exchange for an honest review.*

If it's possible, the sequel is even better than the first book. I can't wait to see what happens to Max, Casey, Sasha, and Ian in the next book. The imagination it takes to write books like this is extremely rare, and I commend Mark Jeffrey for a job well done!

Mark has done it again. Answers to some of the mysteries of Book 1 are revealed while new questions are posed in Book 2. Book 2 shows the development of the characters. I'm anxious for the next installment in the series.

Didn't quite capture my imagination like the first book did but still a fun read. Any kid would love this series and I will say I appreciate how the author does a great job of keeping it kid and family friendly.

Well done, Mark! As many have mentioned, this is a leap from the really good Pocket to really great! Talk about a cliff-hanger ending - I can hardly wait for book 3.

Some of the twists are predictable and some are not, but both in a good way. You think you have something figured out and the story builds until you finally see HOW your conclusion comes to pass; or, you think you know what's coming and then Mark lays it out and you can look back and say "oh, I totally see how that works!"

I must say that while I enjoyed 1912, I was much more wrapped up in the Casey and Sasha half in this book and LOVED the development of that "world"! (I had half of Blackthorn figured out pretty quickly but no clue as to the truth about Arturo Gyp until it was revealed - Brilliant!)

I had the opportunity to read this book pre-release, a couple of years ago, and it was a wonderful read. An amazing expansion of the world Jeffrey created in The Pocket and the Pendent, the story takes us deeper into the mysterious world of Max Quick and his friends. The characters are richer, the Max universe is wider, and the excitement is greater.

It's been a while since I read this, but I remember being impressed by how well Jeffrey had built upon the first book and how the characters had grown. The book stands on its own, but if you were a fan of the first book, you will love this sequel.

And if you haven't read either book yet, then it's time that you did!

What a remarkable universe Jeffrey has developed for our enjoyment! I was able to fall in love with the main characters in the first book, The Pocket and the Pendant, but this one really cemented that feeling. The challenges these kids are faced with are common to every day living, and you really can connect with some of the trials they face. But, just as you feel you understand the world and it's inner workings, Jeffrey takes you for another ride and things are not as they have been... or ever will be.

A good tale, probably better than the first one. While the first one stands on it's own pretty well, this volume really screams out for the sequel. Well worth it if you've already read the first volume and were waiting for more, but if you haven't read volume 1, it might pay to wait until volume 3 is available before starting.

What an epic! It's like two book in one! I thoroughly enjoyed Max Quick's first outing, and like the first, I thoroughly enjoyed this book as well. If you're a fan of time-hopping adventure, teen angst, megalomaniacal aliens trying to enslave humanity, spaghetti westerns, and mind-bending superpowers of cosmic might!... You should check these books out!
