The Hunter's Sorceress : A Paranormal Romance

Rate this book
I should’ve known better than to date a human…

My coven warned me no good would come of it, but I was desperate for Malakai Slade to finally notice me. I thought he was my dream come true. The perfect package wrapped up in black ink with a coma-inducing smile. The more I get to know him, the harder I fall, his wicked touch ruining me for all others.

But when a fatal misunderstanding exposes me as a witch on the night of my eighteenth birthday, I find myself on my knees…staring down the barrel of his gun. Turns out I wasn’t the only one keeping secrets.

Though I escape, he hunts me down, determined to punish me for crimes I didn’t commit and igniting a war between our people that will only end in bloodshed. Stripped powerless and at his mercy, he acts as though I mean nothing to him. So why does he look at me like revenge isn’t the only thing he wants?

*The Hunter's Sorceress is a standalone, enemies to lovers dark romance that does NOT end on a cliffhanger. Trigger warnings include sexual content, foul language, dubious consent, drugging and kidnapping, torture and violence.*

Truth be told I realised i am not reading as much paranormal romance as i would back in my teens, so when i was contacted and offered an arc for this book, i jumped on this chance. First of all it’s by Alessia Ann, author of primordial series and i loved those, so i was curious about this one.

Now, i loved it! It brought me back to my teens when i was reading A LOT of YA paranormal romance, (and bear in mind this one has more spice that any of that book at the time). But it was that true enemies to lovers / rival clans romance (she’s a witch and he’s a monster hunter).

I loved Luna and Malakai, they were great characters and their chemistry was scorching! And those scenes on the bike? 🥵🥵 the book has a good dose of humour in it, so i was chuckling throughout the whole book. It was also great to read about both Kai’s and Luna’s struggles to come to terms with that they are in love with an enemy and they’re going against their clans!

This book had everything! Angst and build up to spice with some scorching fondling on the way, epic battle, misunderstandings, why do i want to f*ck you when i should be unaliving you? So give it a chance when it’s out on 24 december!

I was hooked from the start of this book! I loved Luna from the first page and that didn't change at all throughout the story. She's a great character! She's strong and resilient. She's loyal to her coven to the point that she'd rather die than reveal them. She's smart and sarcastic. Luna knows her strengths and weaknesses and is honest about them (to herself, the enemy doesn't need to know them 😂). As I said above, I loved her.

Kai is just as awesome. He's breathtaking, strong, deadly, protective.. what more could you ask for? He's fierce and set in his ways. But Kai knows right from wrong.

Is killing Luna right? Or wrong? Is he willing to risk everything for her?

I've already stated that I loved the main characters. But the side characters? 10/10! I wish we would have had a little more background on them. Maybe more interactions with them as well.

The sex in this book was okay (the main characters had great chemistry - that wasn't the issue), but honestly, this would have made a fantastic YA novel. The first 90% was top notch - I loved every second of it. The last few chapters were hardly anything but sex. Which was fine but it took away from the conclusion of the story. The ending was good, don't get me wrong. But I would have liked a little less sex and a little more detail of life "after."

Regardless, it was a fun, terrific book! 👌

Alessia does a great job when it comes to writing the broody type men. Malakai has the perfect bad boy energy, but can be a total softie. As a hunter, he gives me Dean Winchester vibes at times, but mixed with more military personality/training. After Luna boldy approaches him one afternoon, his interest quickly becomes an obsession, but he would have no idea how intertwined their lives already were or would become.

Luna is popular and rich, but that's never really been what defines her. She wasn't ready to leave the life of a regular human-being to pursue her official place in the coven. She just wanted the human bad boy of the school to notice her before their time together would be over. Before she knows it, that boy completely uproots her life.

I can't fully pinpoint why, but I felt connected to these characters, especially Malakai. It could be how his relationship with his family is. My favorite side character had to be Quinn. She's just so lovable and quirky.

I CALLED IT!! I knew this book was going to be a remarkable read from the moment I finished reading the blurb! I felt like I wasn't able to flip the pages fast enough once I got into the plot of the story! Alessia Ann has a style of writing that is able to completely captivate you! Luna was most definitely my favorite character. She was a badass from the beginning and that's what honestly got me hooked! I think it was pretty nifty that she was able to endure everything she did without snitching out her Coven.✨ (I would check your trigger warnings before reading just in case)✨

This was an amazing book and hope to read more of Kia and Luna. But mostly hope for a love story for Quinn as I really fell in love with her character in the book.
I love how Kia and Luna's love is infinite and make me all kind of happy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶

I loved this book! Reminds me of the books I read as a teen but with a little spice. I didn't want to stop reading this once I started. I love the characters and Luna and Kai are perfect together. Quinn is awesome and hilarious I would love to have her as a friend. There is little spice but what there is...is 🥵 especially the bike 😏 I can't wait to read more and maybe hopefully get a book for Quinn herself 🤞🤣 10/10 recommend!

Pheewww 🥵

I was an ARC for Alessia and this was my debut into her writing and well pheewww she did not dissapoint.
Just because Luna and Malakai are young dont let that fool you that there wont be spice. Luna is shy towards Malakai to start but once she finds herself she is such a badass. Malakai is inked, has a smile fit for the gods and rides a motercycle, Luna is a witch and a misunderstanding exposes her on her 18th birthday and has Malakai hunting her down. Turns out she wasnt the only one with secrets. Luna confides in her bestfriend Quinn about Malakai hoping to stop the war brewing between their two peoples. Both our MCs are badass and Luna is no helpless damsel, but can she overcome the shit that rains down on her for being a witch. Alessia sucked me in and I couldnt put it down, that I read it in one night lol. Please check the TWs as this is a DARK Romance.

Was not expecting this to have a high school aged romance. Nothing about high school seniors hooking up appeals to me. Just not for me.

I couldn’t put it down until I was finished!

I must admit I was a bit hesitant with this one since they are on the younger side, just getting out of high school, but the story sucked me in right away. Malakai and Luna have already been through a lot and have so many expectations on them that their thought processes and actions are more adult instead of teen. I loved reading one where the MMC is the human. They both hold pretty big secrets and have some trauma due to parental losses that come to the forefront on occasion. A suicide description of one of those events could be a trigger for some.

At the time I read The Hunter’s Sorceress I was in desperate need of a new book boyfriend. I found it with Malakai. Oh, that beautiful bad boy with a motorcycle, weapons, attitude, uh… yes please. Alessia Ann has a way of making me swoon for her MMCs and she didn’t disappoint in this one (although Chase from Spellbound is still my #1 🥰). Luna is an introvert but isn’t a doormat. She has great support from her best friend Quinn and as well as her very free-spirited aunt. I enjoyed watching Malakai and Luna evolve throughout the book. The struggles they have within themselves because of what they were taught about their lines kept me wanting to learn more. I’m a sucker for opposites attract though. Towards the end it was intense and moved fast toward the resolution.

My requirements for a great book are that it has a well moving story with plot, at least medium tension and spice, no OW cheating, and an HEA. This book met all of those for me. I was already a huge fan of Alessia Ann’s Primordial series (that doesn’t get near enough attention by the way) and The Hunter’s Sorceress is right up there with those. I will be sharing every chance I get! Be sure to check the TW of this book since they include drugging, kidnapping, torture, etc. It is a dark PNR romance but beautifully written.

Absolutely loved this from the first sentence. Alessia has a real gift at bringing her characters and worlds to life and this one is no different. I couldn't put this down!
I was a bit dubious when I started as I'm not a fan of high school based books, but school was out of the way almost immediately and it didn't feel in any way a 'high school romance.' This was a connection that scorched so hot, you felt it.. the paranormal details felt real and their story reels you in.

Good and enjoyable I just couldn't get over the fact both are still I'm highschool. The story worked better that she was a young witch but him being only 18 didn't work for me. While reading his perspective on his experience in either women or killing, my mind kept thinking but he 18.

It is still a good read and it could be me issue, I work with kids 16-18.
