Kari Trumbo is a writer of historical and contemporary Christian romance and romantic suspense. She's a mom to four wonderful children. When she isn't writing or editing, she loves to read, sing, and knit. Kari loves curling up with a fluffy blanket when winter hits. She makes her home in central Minnesota with her husband of over twenty years, two daughters, two sons, many cats and one sweet bunny.
She also writes women's fiction under the name Teri Blake.
Throughout this book, the author kept having the female lead doing jobs which are completely out of the scope of practice for a CNA. She also had another CNA supposedly giving blood transfusions to her son! The story is fine, but more research needed to be done or those characters needed to become RNs.
Ok I loved Brendan and how hurt he was and the reasons behind his hurt are now there and she’s hurt too. Plus quite a drama unfolding with the job of the ranch. Don’t miss this drama!
In Operation: Discovery (Wayside Ranch Book 4), Brendon must face his regret. The woman who helped him after his life changing injury who, he thought, wanted to “fix” him rather than accept him as he was. No longer able to live as an Army Ranger, Brendon needed to learn how to live life in a wheelchair. It was time for him to face his regret, even if he wasn’t ready.
Dee Heather Rose had always wanted to help people. In her enthusiasm, had she pushed the love of her life, Brendon Ruse, too far? She had wanted to challenge him, push him to find how far he could go. Now, with an invitation to Wayside Ranch would she finally have the chance to reignite the relationship?
Like the other books in this series, the story is fast paced and entertaining. This is another good blend of suspense, action, and romance in a clean, Christian Suspense Romance book by Kari Trumbo. The premise of this series is unique and interesting, and I plan to continue reading the series.
A nurse falls in love again with one of her former patients.
Loved being back with this author again. Dee and Brenden story was exciting from start to finish. Dee and Brendan had quite the pasts. But both were helpers in their own right. But Dee helper mentality almost got her killed. Brendan and the rest of the crew became her heroes. But Brendan was the one she loved and he loved her and had never stopped. She fell in love with him all over again. So happy that sweet Brendan has found his true love he and Dee fit well togethor. Looking forward to Conner, Edwyn, Eric and Teddy stories. I love the guys at Wayside and their better halfs. As they deal with the evil around them. This one had a little more gore to it. But I got through it.
Discovery _ book 4 As the title suggests, there are quite a few discoveries in this book, despite the mysteries that still remain. This is definitely a series that should be read in order. Lots of heart thumbing action and some foolish decisions on the part of the heroine, which has been a trend with 3 of the first 4 books. There were a few character mix ups here when the wrong person was named, like talking about the one declared dead but who is obviously alive, as being Eric when it was Cole. Once more the end of the book starts turning towards the next guy to fulfill his mission. Despite that, the ending here was lovely. Brought tears to my eyes. Regarding the cover: he doesn't resemble the main character. Looks way too young to be him. Anyway...onto book 5.
Brendon and Dee’s story hit a little close to home for me. As I read their story I realized that it sounded like my ex-husband and me. But both people have want to open up and be willing to work together to heal. This story had a ton of suspense and just enough romance to keep the readers happy. It is sad but true that evil exists like what is portrayed in this book. We need to open our eyes to it. Excellent storyline and keeps you guessing.
Brendon left Dee because he thought he knew better and what was best for them both. Ten years later at Connors request for second chances brings her back to be a care nurse for one of thier wards of human trafficking that due to her injuries is now paralyzed from the waist down. As Dee wants to go into town to give blood, they stumble upon an organ thieves ring, causing the death of one little boy and the heartache of several others. Kari draws the attention to making new choices and striving for the best we can be. Awesome book!
I have read a few others in this series, and the characters are endearing, so I keep coming back. Not sure I will continue, however. I find the details weak, even inaccurate, and often it seems as if the author is advancing the plot in her own mind, but leaving out the connections to the reader. I found I had to “fill in the blanks” often in what was happening. I could credit to my inattentiveness, but even going back and re-reading the previous pages, the connections just weren’t there.
Just the kind of book I like with a lots of adventure (explosions, kidnapping, and mysterious villains) and a sweet romance. Bendon is a paraplegic--who has figured out a life with a wheelchair and enjoys his work at Wayside Ranch, home to the injured, the trafficked and the terrified. The one tragedy in his past is the woman he thought could not love him as he was.
Dee accepted the short-term job at the ranch hoping she could reconnect with that guy who met all her hopes and dreams until the day he disappeared.
This is my first Kari Trumbo. I will be looking for others.
Another excellent story in this great series! I’ve been working my way through this collection of stories and love how the author crafts varied characters who are lovable and believable. The way she weaves faith into the stories is pretty awesome, too. One thing I would love to have read in this was the take down scene, but I was definitely happy with the ending. Now to start the next one… If you enjoy inspirational suspense romance, clean reads, cowboys, and veterans, then you should check out this series.
Great Series! You will be holding your breath waiting on what happens next in this latest installment of the Wayside Ranch Series. Brendon and Dee have a history that needs to be aired out and resolved. But they stumbled onto illegal activity and are now being hunted. You will feel like you are there. Don’t miss this new intense, suspenseful, clean, inspirational story! Even though this can be a standalone book you will definitely want to read the earlier books in the series first.
I have enjoyed reading this series. This story deals with the difficult issue of missing children. Brendon is disabled veteran turned counselor for Wayside Ranch. In this book, he gets a second chance with his lost love, Dee Heather Rose, who is a nurse for patients with mobility issues. They have an intense story beginning when they decide to attend a blood drive that turns into something sinister, leading them into danger.
Kari Trumbo is a master storyteller and draws you into her stories. Before you know it, you’re committed to their cause and lives. Wayside Ranch series is one of those situations. Their goals are things that are needed in today’s world. She manages to ease you into thoughts of faith, loss of freedom and choices, and changes you and the world needs to make, all while giving us a story with romance, humor and a few twists. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us.
Discovery-finding what you thought you couldn't find
Brendon has been in love with the memory of a woman he walked away from with his thoughts on the situation. Dee has given up on ever seeing the man who left, together they now must discover just what they have gave up along the way. Kari's writing of each book in this series leads you to seek the why of each situation. She keeps you active in the search for happiness even when it looks like they may not discover it.
I don't even know where to start. Throughout this series, I have gotten to know and fallen in love with the characters of Wayside Ranch. When someone new arrives, they feel like family. This story felt extra intense but also made me keep reading. I loved this book, and it gave me the full range of feelings. It wasn't a cookie cutter happily ever after, and I can't wait to read the next book.
These books would be so much better without glaring discrepancies. First the call Dee a nurse continually only to later name her a CNA makes no sense. They aren’t the same thing and a CNA wouldn’t have done the tasks the author claims she did in the past. Plus the continuity errors are just weird and disruptive. The last book was about Eric and Ali who was a military lawyer and suddenly in this book the military lawyer is with Sam? Mistakes like that ruin a series for me.
And again a great story in this series. He doesn’t need a second chance but when she arrives they discover a lot of trouble that needs to be solved, even when it can cost them their lives. And when misunderstandings are been addressed maybe the future is open to happiness. I love this series and can’t wait for the next one.
This was a great book with a wonderful storyline that tells the story about an issue with face in the world today. The characters are well developed, and the storyline is complete and well formed. can be read alone, but would always be better to read in line with the others. Can’t wait for the next one.
A book with two story lines: paraplegics learning to live new and productive lives, and the facts and horrors of sex/organ donor trafficking. I was appalled at how easy it is for sex traffickers to operate and where they choose set up bases. Also I had no idea that organ trafficking was such an issue and that oftentimes children are these victims.
This book sure needed a lot of fixing. There are errors between which people did what, even what the weather was like! Also it has a rather pathetic ending, sure there was a wedding, but the wrap up of the criminal enterprise was completely skimmed over, I mean it really almost doesn’t exist! I wouldn’t bother reading it until the authour can ‘fix’ it.
As I read this book while fixing Thanksgiving dinner it gave me even more things to be thankful this day. I recommend this and the previous books in this series.
I've been wanting to read this story ever since I bought this book. I love this series about Wayside Ranch. And I loved this story too! Perfect story for those who like stories with ex-military as a main character. And a story with lots of action and mystery.
I'm really enjoying this series. It's not just romance but gives an insight into other things. I did enjoy Dee and Brendon's story and watching them overcome their past and find their HEA. I can't wait to see the next character get their story.
This book had to have been written from deep the heart. It was quite the eye opening story. I know this is possibly got a lot of truth to it. At times I wanted to stop reading it but I couldn't until the end.
Not sure that I can say enough Positive about this book. It will be important to read the books in order, but this is such a great story. I couldn't sleep until I finished it!
Wayside Ranch is a place to heal, and sometimes a place to hide. A lot of weird things are happening and the ones at the ranch are trying to figure things out. Good clean romance.
I like this story but it was very confusing the first crew chapters. It would have been nice for a bit more explanations. But as the story grew you thought it was about human trafficking but it wasn't. Anyway it ended well.
I liked the story and appreciated the research the author did about people using wheelchairs. It maintained a healthy emotional tone as Brendon and Dee worked through their baggage. Some scene transitions were abrupt, especially at the end. Overall, a good story.
Wow! Fast moving the intrigue draws you in. Life issues between the central characters are big ones to understand and deal with. You want to know the ending, and when you do, you are sad it is over.
