Kendall takes drastic action when she encounters ghostly overwhelm in this third book in a tween series that Kirkus Reviews calls “bright, bubbly fun.”
Kendall feels like she’s losing at life. The only people who will talk to her are ghosts, and she’s exhausted from trying to fix their problems. Meanwhile, Brandon thinks she’s a liar, her best friend thinks she’s sneaking around with another boy, and her dad is getting serious with a new girlfriend. Kendall can’t cope with anything else!
Desperate for answers, she decides to visit the one person who might have them—the one person she never wanted to see again. Will her mom be able to help, or will Kendall be stuck without a wisp of hope?
This is a fun series. It's not too heavy on the supernatural stuff but just enough to make it a good read.
Kendall can see ghosts and she helps them move on in the afterlife. Her mother left when she was little and she is raised by her father. In this, she gets to meet her mother and I felt for her.
Madison spreads lies about her due to which she loses her best friend. She is also helping a ghost move on who happens to be Madison's sister.
This tied up everything nicely in place but it isn't as good as the previous ones. A nice read still.
Kendall is in 7th grade. She has a boyfriend, Brandon, who just broke up with her. Her best friend, Ellie, won’t speak to her. Her worst enemy, Madison, is spreading rumors about her. Oh, and Kendall can see ghosts. They come to her for help in moving on. But Kendall can’t tell anyone, they will think she’s crazy. That’s how all the trouble with Brandon and Ellie started. The ghost in book 3 is Madison’s sister Lily.
Be sure to read books 1 and 2 of the "Girl Meets Ghost" series first. This one doesn’t stand on its own, it ties up all the loose ends from the first two books. Not as funny as the others, the ghost business is mild, not scary or even all that important to the story. Because #2 ends with a cliff hanger, you’ll want this to complete the set, but, spoiler alert, the cliff hanger doesn’t really resolve, or even matter all that much. Disappointed.
Honestly I think this book was bad. Yes, Kendall and the rest of the characters are somewhat realistic , but they aren't that well structured. Mrs. Barnhaldt also seems to struggle with writing stories in the present tense. She often formed sentences in the past tense , and at some points during my reading I got quite confused. Also, for a series based around a girl with the ability to see ghost, the ghost doesn't seem to have that much of a presence in this book. The book was mostly revolving Kendall and her typical teen "drama". The plots are also weak. It seems as if Mrs. Barnhaldt. Just scribble down the first thing that came to mind and said, "alright, these are ten year olds reading this book, they be fine." The reason for the characters actions make no sense.
Narrated by twelve year old Kendall Williams, things get more complicated when Lily: Madison Baker’s older sister appears as a ghost. At the same time, Kendall has found her mother and not sure if she wants her back in her life.
Having to many things on your plate can throw you off track. Kendall can see ghosts. She never knew her mother and she has always lived with her father. Just when she thought everything was perfectly fine, everything turns into a complete disaster. Growing up without a mother is tough. After Kendall's boyfriend dumped her, and her father gets a new girlfriend, helping a ghost deal with their problems is the last thing you would want to do.
I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! I've been waiting 3 months (my whole summer, basically) to read this book I finally found it. The second book left me hanging and I couldn't read what had happened until now! I love lauren barnholdt her books are just amazing they make me feel what the character is feeling, I love authors like that. I also like how she makes you feel so many emotions I almost cried in this book at the beginning, but at the end I like how the authur made the character realize so many things. I recommend this book to girls, fiction reader and/or people who like to have a good cry. You should read this book, you'll love it! Enjoy!
This is book 3 in the Girl Meets Ghost series. I've never sought out a ghost series before, I think that book 1 was recommended here on Goodreads (go figure). I had to request an interlibrary loan for the first and 2nd books (boo) but I decided to just buy the 3rd one and add it to the collection at school...of course after purchasing books 1 and 2. This book picks up when book 2 left off. Kendall has just told Brandon she can see ghosts and he doesn't believe her. And she has a fight with her best friend. Book 3 was a super quick read and I wonder how many books will end up being a part of the series.
I liked this book because it was fun and full of drama. It was fun because you go through an ordinary girls life but with a twist that she can see ghosts and your see how her life changes with that. It was full of drama because first Kendall's boyfriend Brandon broke up with her because if her power. He thought Kendall was nuts. Kendall and Madison got in a fight and ripped a scarf. It was a great book I loved it very much.
I read this as one of a number of books I am reading because I have heard some of the girls at church mention them. This is not a bad little story but not great literature either. I did come to really like this main character.
I enjoyed the story but did not care for the ending. being the last story in the trilogy I thought the ends could have been rapped up better. overall a good read
It was interesting. It was fiction because a girl could see a ghost, and it was talking also about a normal girl's life in middle school.I think this book must be read.
I'm an older teen and I absolutely loved this book! I read mostly fantasy and am not a big fan of contemporary unless they've got a point to them (Like the hate u give), and this book was a quick and easy escape. Perfect for reading slumps and when you just want a cute, funny and light series, I suggest you start with the first book! Enjoyed the whole seried and def recommend!
Every bit as good as the first two, Ghost of a Chance finds Kendall having difficulties with the ghost business. She travels to visit her mom one weekend and discovers that her mom also sees ghosts! Huh! Her mom could have been helping her through all of this since she knows it's hereditary. Boyfriend and friend problems are plaguing Kendall's life also. Kendall told Brandon about seeing his mom's ghost and that didn't go over well.
