Two women. Angelika is world weary. Dulcie has seen little beyond her own four walls.

A mysterious legacy brings them together in the quiet seaside village of Hamlet and sends them on a journey of discovery about their past.

Angelika settles into her idyllic new home in the countryside but discovers dark secrets and hostility lurking in everyone’s lives.

When a violent storm tears apart the boundaries that have so long gripped the community, all is revealed.

Can the past be forgiven, healed, and restored? Can Angelika and Dulcie move into the fullness of love and family? Change must come, relationships be renewed, and God’s love found.

While I will admit that upon starting, for some reason, I thought I was going to be a bit overwhelmed or confused .. I pleasantly admit that I was wrong. This story kept my attention thru out. Immersive writing kept everything in place. A very interesting read.

Mission pastor, Angelika, welcomes her unexpected inheritance of a cottage in Hamlet from her unknown father and is received warmly by all the community, except for the residents in the house at the end of the lane. Needing a respite from travelling and ministering to people, Angelika prepares to rest and is somewhat annoyed by being asked to assist as she gets to know each couple.
Throughout the first half of this book, I kept thinking “What a refreshing story about an idyllic life in a tiny close-knit community with less than thirty residents: Hamlet by name and hamlet by definition” … and then secrets are slowly shared and suddenly, the peaceful atmosphere is contaminated by the revelations of the past!
This is an excellent narrative which kept me glued as Angelika deals with the history of Hamlet, considering it her duty to assist the community, despite their hostility, in correcting the mistakes they made in their youth and, in the process, discovers answers to her own childhood.

I want to thank the entire booksirens crew, the author and publisher for granting my request to read this book for FREE and to drop my very honest review.

I loved that this book is a CHRISTIAN BOOK and we dont usually have more of Christian books.

At first I couldn't get into the book cos they were so many characters some of which I can't even remember their names, but I continued regardless. There were alot of twists (like a lot so get ready for that) and even love( which I didn't expect). Forgiveness and letting go to me were the main theme of this story, the importance of forgiveness and letting go can't be overemphasized!!

This book was okay for me, but that wouldn't stop me from recommending it so if you love women's Fiction, Christain Fiction I will suggest you add it to your TBR for 2024!

This was a long book, but very interesting and had enough intrigue to keep me reading. Main character, Angelika, was a compassionate person and also a giver in every sense of the spiritual means. After giving so many years to serving people and her Lord she was named as Beneficiary of her estranged father's property and assets. Story is basically the last few years of her life and meeting her step-sister, Dulcie, and eventually Phil, her father and his wife in this little area or hamlet. The little hamlet where his house is located with the few other homeowners in this little 'away' location, became family to her. She loved them all very much and they loved her in return and she finally had the family she'd always wanted with them. And then there was Glen...

I received an early copy, ARC, and am giving my free and voluntary review.

Interesting beginning as Phil and Mary fake their death. Then Angelika inherits a house in a small seaside village where even the solicitor doesn't understand why. After she falls in love with the village and its inhabitants a terrible storm causes much damage and in its wake old secrets are brought to life threatening to disrupt the seemingly idyllic peace. People who Angelika had come to view as family suddenly seem to turn against her and each other. Can the truth be uncovered and will it truly set them all free?

The ending was one I would never have foreseen.
