He's a real good boy I’ve spent my entire life running from my shit-show family. The Ashbournes. A name dipped in ice and coated in lies. The slither of family love that I tried to hold on to was ripped away from me thanks to my asshole uncle and all I got in return was the loss of my father and a dark secret bound to my soul.
I made peace with the shambles of my life as I trekked toward the gates of hell. Life was good. Until it wasn’t.
Now I was back where I started. Forced to rejoin the Ashbourne family or be cut off completely. I took the bait, but fuck, I wish I hadn’t. There wasn’t a man I hated more than Weston Ashbourne. But I guess my dick didn’t get the memo.
DNF I love a good kinky taboo LOVE story....except there’s no love here... I felt zero connection/chemistry between them. Even the "sex" was just to get their rocks off. Weston literally hates Darius, and it shows. wait till I tell you why.... I'm going to spoil it bc if I had known all this, I probably wouldn't have bought them. book 2 isn't even on goodreads, and that's ok, I skimmed that, too. I'm nosey and needed to know why he was such a damn dick. Are you ready?! 8 years prior, Darius walked in on his dad getting sucked off by a dude (he didn't know it who it was) he bails, dad chases after Darius, dad dies in pursuit. Weston now hates Darius for killing his brother AND lover. Yep. I felt icky caca poopoo for Darius. After finding this out, he knew Weston blamed him for his dad's death. Too much for no romance/connection. Oh, and I have to mention Weston couldn't get his dick up for his wife (Yano cuz he's gay) it's ok ig, she was fucking a different brother of theirs Lmao

2.5 - 2.75⭐, but I'll round it up, because even though it wasn't satisfying, I liked the ideas presented.
I read quite a lot of incest books and I love it, so I'm always happy when there's a new addition to our little taboo club, but this one kind of didn't really work for me. It looks like an excerpt out of a longer, more detailed story and this book definitely should've had a strong prologue, if not become a series.
🔴 Taboo - Uncle/nephew 🔵 Age gap - ? (not specified, but I'm guessing about 20 years) 🟢 One MMC openly gay, another closeted and married 🌶️ No penetrative sex, but a few good sex scenes
Weston and Darius are uncle and nephew from a very wealthy Ashbourne family. Darius is a black sheep of the family, the son of Weston's late brother, who doesn't want to have anything to do with the family. He's travelling around, doesn't really do much, is outspoken and a bad boy sort of, he doesn't care about appearances. He's also openly gay, quite dominant and a guy in his 20s, who's lost his ground after his father died.
Weston is married and deeply in the closet. He's had some transgressions with other men over the years, but he keeps it all very hidden, not wanting to divorce his wife, but being in constant conflict with himself, since he can't perform sexually anymore.
Weston and Darius have some sort of a hateful relationship and we're never told why. Weston really dislikes Darius, but there's no reason for it. His father died 8 years ago and that's when Weston started with his hateful attitude, so at this point they both dislike each other and there was a real potential here for enemies-to-lovers, but it didn't happen, simply because we have no foundation.
Darius and Weston get involved, but it almost felt like Weston was taking something from Darius just because he was in close vicinity .
Yes, I didn't feel there was that much mutual inevitable chemistry at all and that taboo part got lost somehwere, I couldn't see it, it didn't feel as taboo, probably because Weston is so explosive and always conflicted and as a reader I had no idea what he wanted. Darius was just a hot guy at his house and available for the taking, they had no familial feelings between them, so it was just a quick hook-up for the repressed Weston.
As far as sex goes, they didn't really do much and I was a bit confused, since the book starts out with Darius being a definite top, later on we find out Weston had bottomed and that's what he likes, so why are the roles suddenly reversed in the middle of the story? I honestly thought Darius was going to fuck his uncle silly somewhere in there, but that didn't happen. It was almost like Weston had no moral dilemma and was almost imposing himself on Darius. I didn't really like their dynamic, Darius as a character lost his edge and Weston, as much as I liked him at first, lost all appeal.
At the end of the book we find out Weston already was a part of a brocest - with Darius' father - so that poses even more questions for me, because that can't be dealt with just another short book, I think I'd much rather hear Weston's story in full first before anything happened with Darius.
The story should've been more developed, definitely have a longer prologue and the taboo part more prominent.
I'll check out the 2nd part of this duet, but I doubt it'll get the job done.
Oh my freaking God. I’m about to pass out! The angst between Weston and Darius is off the charts! This Uncle-Nephew taboo novella needed to be like 100 pages longer 😂 I really loved how this taboo story is a more later-in-life one, finally something different! But man… the major cliff at the end, and the literal BOMB that was dropped… I may not recover.
This was recommended in a m/m group I'm in, and since it's taboo, I had to buy it from a site other than prude ass Amazon.
I didn't know it was a novella. I don't usually pay $5 for novellas. I didn't know it had a cliff hanger. Ugh.
The kid (I literally finished this a minute ago and I forget his name, that's how unremarkable these characters are) is acting like a typical wild rich kid so his granddad brings him to his house to join his prestigious law firm to make him shape up or lose his inheritance. Because THAT makes total sense.
He sees his closeted uncle, and they hate each other with a passion. The author doesn't tell us why.
The grandpa makes the kid the assistant of the closeted uncle. Because he's a wild child with no experience. And something about the uncle needs to win a case and will earn a promotion. So, let's give him an assistant who can't even make copies. Ok.
There's no plot. There's a lot of spitting in each other's mouths and oral sex. We don't even get any sex sex. You're going to write a whole ass book with no penetration?
I don't have much money. I only allow myself to buy one book per month that isn't KU. So of course I spent this much on a novella with no sex and no plot and it's a cliffhanger. So, who cares what happens to these two. I'll never know.
Natalie Knight's Good Boy is a taboo romance between uncle and nephew, but the romantic aspect of the story was not as prominent as I had expected. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the plot and the kink had me buzzing. 🥵
With his outrageous behavior and hilarious comments, Darius is a more likable character than his uncle Weston, who is leading a double life. Weston keeps his sexual longings hidden and lives a very reserved lifestyle while unhappily married to his wife. There is a lot of resentment between Darius and Weston, which eventually explodes into a punishing passion that is impossible to resist.
✨ "Not bad for your first time." "First time? I've been swinging and sucking di3k since I was seventeen," I said as I moved across the room, leaving tiny puddles in my wake. His lips tipped into a smirk, "I know, but this is the first time you sucked your uncle's cock." ✨
I couldn't help but let out a gasp at the cliffhanger ending! Luckily, I had already purchased the second book in this duet and was able to delve back into the intense drama. Darius and Weston's story has twists that are impossible to predict, and their attraction to each other is sure to cause a few casualties. I'm eager to see how this story plays out in the end!
I've read many of Natalie Knight's books, some good and some better than others. This is my top favorite of hers. I really like the characters Darius and Weston; the plot was very interesting. I'm kind of glad it wasn't completely focused on the smut.
Now, I did have one little concern when I first started reading: I didn't know who was who. The first chapter starts with Darius, the nephew. The way it was written made him seem older. I thought he was the Uncle, Weston, at first. Other than that, the story was really good. It had a lot of build-up and tension, a little bit of an enemies-to-lover kind of vibe.
In the beginning of the story, the characters clearly hate and despise each other. We're not really given a clear explanation as to why, except maybe because Darius' father had him with a woman that his family didn't approve of, and Darius was a constant reminder of that. It also hinted that Darius' father was the only one to show him any type of love and affection, and when his father passed, he lost that.
Now, that ending—I was not expecting that at all. Adding a twist like that makes the story even better. I'm definitely getting book 2 Bad Habbits because. I got to know what happens next.
Those searching for HOT taboo (Uncle/Nephew) MM story that checks all the boxes, then you'll want to read Good Boy by Natalie Knight!
🖤Thoughts🖤 For this being a short story, it didn't feel rushed at all. Weston and Darius have this instant chemistry even though they are technically "related". They both are internally fighting their own demons while also hating that they want each other.
As their relationship develops and you can see that they both are growing feelings for each other, this bomb is dropped at the end that will leave you shocked!
This ends on a cliff hanger but the second book is coming out in a few weeks.
Tropes🔦: Taboo, MM, Age Gap POV: 👨🏻🤝👨🏻 {Dual} Steamy:🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ ⚠️Ends on a cliff hanger and this is not on Amazon
I’ll be honest I found it a bit difficult to follow, bit too fast paced with not a lot of explanations for anything at all! I’m hoping the second book will explain all…. I’ve got the second lined up and if I hadn’t already, I probably wouldn’t go and find it tbh
Edited - book 2 isn’t on Goodreads. Urgh all a bit urgh to be honest. She says it took her ages to write, I don’t know why as it was was a bit of a mash up of them just moodily staring at one other telling each other to fuck off and then one day after a fight they love each other. Ending was very rushed. Not for me this one
I really enjoyed this story. The angst between the two leads was *chef's kiss* and not overdone. The bombshell at the end made my mouth drop. I took away a star because of the major cliffhanger without warning. I feel that it's not too much to ask for authors to give a heads-up or write in their blurb that there will be a cliffhanger. It's common courtesy, really. Yes, many people might not read the first book because they want to wait until the second book, but the ratings will suffer, and customer satisfaction will decrease as a result of not being forthcoming.
