DNF @39% - this was too jumbled - the author struggled to make the situation and characters clear enough to grab on to because she kept adding new random characteristics and plot points. It was hard to follow who was what because it all kept changing. This started out to be a step sibling enemies to lovers but very quickly turned into “you’re the only one I trust to take my vCard and teach me all the smexx”. 🙄 It was a weird pivot and then she kept going back forth on it. And the physical intimacy started super early without ever really establishing what their actual relationship was… and that made all the intense sexual activity, including dirty talk, very awkward and cringe to read. I need the building emotions to match the building intimacy. I found this frustrating and knew I didn’t want to mess with this for another 60%

It had potential, but it lacked direction, and it could have really benefited from a hard edit. I'm giving it a very generous 3.
Kaia Cruz(20-ish, virgin, college student, bar waitress, figure skater) has the hots for her stepbrother, Jaxtyn West(21-ish, college student, hockey player), but she doesn't think he's interested in her because she's "not as pretty or skinny" as the puck bunnies that he usually brings home. They live in a mansion with all their siblings while their parents are conveniently always on vacas. Secretly, Jax has a crush on her too, but he continually says mean things to her to keep her away. Yada yada, she asks him how to flirt and to be more confident with guys so she can lose her V card...... Ok sure, we'll go with that. A bunch of nonsense happens and he ends up making out with her and then pushing her away, making out, pushing away, and repeat.
Then we get thrown into just total chaos. Hockey stars, Olympic level figure skating, dead partners, cage fighting, rock bands, name changes, amnesia, I don't even know what else, and a .
So....... easy things first.
SEX: When we got to the actual sexing portion, the scenes were pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised by that. There were a few oral scenes with the big V taken at 55%.
CHEATING: None. Jax has another girl giving him a BJ at the beginning, before he and Kaia ever entertain their feelings, but he didn't finish because Kaia called and interrupted things. She does go on two "dates", but they're more like friendship dates. There's no kissing or holding hands.
KAIA: her character makes no sense. She's in her twenties and in college. She's grown up in a regular family, has a BFF, attended regular school. She's not isolated in any way, shape, or form. She watches movies and TV and sees her friends date and interact. Yet she somehow doesn't know how to tell when a guy is flirting, and she doesn't know how to kiss? Her older stepbrother is in a rock band and she goes to concerts and works in a damn bar!!! It doesn't add up. Then, we touch on the fact that she's also a figure skater and her previous partner freaking DIED. They were so good they could have gone to the Olympics, but the whole story just never went anywhere.
WHAT PLOT?: The biggest issue, besides needing to be edited, is this story was ALL over the place and I could never figure out what was supposed to be the actual plot. Plus, there were so many freaking characters. Then half the time we're caught up in the story between Cam + Trystan + Owen. I know when you're writing a series, you have to introduce us to some characters and get us hooked enough to keep us reading - but these guys took up half the book. You can't put so much focus on these characters when your MCs are left so underdeveloped. Plus, we've got him being a hockey superstar, but never really felt like it. We've got her working in a bar that never went anywhere. I have no idea what any of them went to college for. Trystan is in a rock band, which is heavily included. There's a thing with cage fighting that was only halfway explored. AND, halfway thru the book, the parents names changed!
SPOILER: This was something that I felt was sooooooooo stupid, but it's a spoiler. I'm putting it out here because once you see how ridiculous it is, you might change your mind on reading.
SIDE PIECES: I normally list supporting cast for series so I can keep up with them. This time I'm adding them ALL so you can get an idea of what I mean when I say there are too freaking many!
Kaia: Olympic level figure skater, college student with an unknown major, bartender. Jaxtyn: hockey superstar, college student with an unknown major. Harlow: Kaia’s bio sister. Syn: Jaxtyn’s bio sister. Trystan: Jaxtyn’s bio brother. Lead singer in rock band. Love interest of Cam. Robert/Bradley: Kaia’s bio dad. The names of the parents changed. I read the passages 3 times to make sure this was the same person. Liz/Linda: Jaxtyn’s bio mom. Again, the name changed during the story.
Camryn Young: Kaia's BFF. Love interest of Trystan. Owen: Jax’s BFF, teammate, and potential love interest for Cam.
Matthias: Kaia’s skating partner, killed in an accident. Parker Brooks: Kaia’s new skating partner. Cassidy Morrison: Parker’s previous skating partner. Olga Petrov: Skating coach.
Brandon Benson: Teammate. Michael Moore: Teammate. Preston: Teammate. Dallas: Teammate. Colton Hunt: Blackhawks goalie. (Allegedly took Cam’s virginity, in high school, even though Cam is a virgin when she and Trystan hook up.) Dexter Berkley: Blackhawks player.
Alex: Cage fighter, retired fireman, somehow in love with Kaia. Tucker: Bartender Max: Bartender. Lilly: Waitress. Anna: Waitress. Jeremy: Busboy.
David: Kaia’s first date. Carly: Jax’s BJ girl.
Ms. Fritz: Neighbor lady who gossips. Lacey Hall: some random 15-yo girl who is pregnant by her stepbrother. Christopher: guy who knocked up Lacey Hall.
In case no one else gets this from the bare minimum synopsis...this book revolves around the Spice Coaching trope. I probably wouldn't have picked this one up if I had known that going into it because that's just not my jam.
This story could have benefited from a slower build up to make the tension more enjoyable and less eye-roll inducing. Jumping feet first into the spice coaching not even 30 pages in just made the dynamics between Jax and Kai seem...over the top and manufactured, I guess? The characters read very much as teenagers with the way they overreacted to everything, but it's reiterated over and over they're all adults (but all still living at home despite being an affluent family???).
Mmm... This book wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. I decided to take a break from my regular dark, organized crime, mafia, etc. romance and read what I consider a fluffy romance. I'm also a sucker for stepbrother/ forbidden love tropes. The style of writing was decent enough. I felt some parts were dragged out while others were not talked about enough. The angst just wasn't there for me. It was apparent the author tried to create angst, but honestly fell short. The drama was boring. There was no real drama, just a few instances that were thrown in here and there. The most exciting part of the book was trystyn and Cam honestly. I didn't love either character. The fmc kai annoyed me. "She's not like other girls. She doesn't realize how hot she is blah blah blah. She was dense and extremely naive. Why would she not understand why bringing Alex to Jaxtons' game was a bad idea. Get real. I hate when authors make the fmc to be weak, dumb and naive, all while trying to portray her as a smart, nice, caring individual. She was way too easily manipulated when it came to pretty much everyone, especially Jaxton. I felt like Alex was just thrown in there to create some sort of drama. Jaxton was decent. Too whiny for a mmc, in my opinion. Your parents fought and got divorced, and that's your excuse to act the way you do ? Come on. I now remember why I try and pick books where both characters are well out of college and at least 25. I digress, the plot was boring and predictable. I hate pregnancy tropes, so of course that annoyed me, especially when it happened so fast after finally becoming a regular couple. Overall, like I said, neither good nor bad. It was a filler book for me. I would like to explore other books by this author and give another one a try.

Read in one sitting because I clearly have no self-control. Worth it. Dirty Pucking Tease is straight-up forbidden hockey romance chaos, and I was here for every steamy, emotionally messy, absolutely unhinged second of it. We're talking step-sibling drama, tension so thick you could cut it with a skate, and enough spice to make me check if my Kindle was overheating. Did I cringe a couple of times? Yes. Did I care? Absolutely not. I was fully locked in. Let’s be real: Jax is the classic "I’m toxic but hot enough to get away with it" MMC, and Kaia is sweet, low-key, and wildly bold when it counts. Their dynamic? A perfect storm of “we shouldn’t” meets “but we did... again.” That forbidden tension? Whew. I felt like I needed to repent when I finished—and I loved that for me. Yes, the spice starts early. Like... suspiciously early. But I didn’t stop reading, so what does that say about me? 🙃 Some thoughts while reading: • “Oh no, they’re doing this.” • “Yep. They did that.” • “I need a cold drink and maybe therapy.” • “This is WILD but I can’t stop.” Was it a literary masterpiece? No. But was it hot, fun, messy, and totally addictive? Hell yes. The ending was slightly chaotic, a little too fast, and had me going “wait, that’s it?” but honestly, I wasn’t mad about it. This was pure escapist smut with feelings, and sometimes that’s exactly what I need. Final thoughts: 🔥 Spicy as hell 🚫 Morally questionable 🏒 Very “TikTok made me do it” 📚 Perfect one-day binge 💀 I will probably read the next one immediately
Jax and Kaia have a tenuous relationship. Constantly antagonizing one another. That hasn’t stopped Jax from desiring her for years. Whats the issue? He’s her step-brother. 🫢
Loved it. Feel a little weird that I loved it. But not gonna lie, the forbidden romance aspect was 🥵 Obviously, they’re conflicted about their attraction. Wanting to do the socially acceptable thing while simultaneously wanting to give in to temptation.
The characters were fun and likable. The FMC was kind and sweet, not something that we often get in our romances. I appreciated the fact that she had her own things going on independent from his involvement. The MMC was 🔥 From his rescuing her in the first couple of chapters to his loyalty to her at the end. His fierce protectiveness and his self hating attraction to Kaia was SO good.
Though writing was okay, (a little on the amateur side) it entertained me the entire time. The story was eventful and steamy, keeping you engaged. There was also some serious spice: Jax’s underlying attraction to her while in utter denial kept that slow burn ember hot.
The supporting characters were great. Except one. Obnoxious and the source of a lot of the conflict between the main characters. 🤦♀️
Unfortunately, it was another one of those stories where the main characters were fairly young. 🤢 Add in the pregnancy in the finale and… 🤮
Other than those minor quibbles, I highly recommend!
Anyone that knows me knows I love a good taboo romance. So when I seen the author post about this I immediately added it to my wishlist and the lovely author gifted it to me 🥰 This did not disappoint. The spice was 🥵🥵 just what I need after a book hangover. Now there was times Jax drove me nutsss with being so afraid to admit his feelings and not wanting anyone to find out about them. So I definitely did not blame Kaia when she wanted to move on with someone else. I was rooting for it for a little while because I really wanted Jax to get his shit together. Sucks it had to take an accident for him to realize it was time to man upppp but I was happy that he did. Loved the ending and I’m looking forward to reading book 2 and getting more of Cam, Trystan, and Owen’s story 😊
Really great read. There were a few times where I had to shake my head, and a few times I wanted to throat punch someone, but that's what makes this a great read. Any time an author writes a story that pulls you and makes you feel so invested in the characters that you feel what they feel, you get angry, sad or even scared on their behalf, you know you have found a fantastic read. I really enjoyed it and I look forward to reading more in this world/series.
***There's already a spin-off called Wicked Sinners on KV, as well as a follow-up story called Dirty Little Mistake. I'm loving Wicked Sinner and looking forward to reading Dirty Little Mistake.***
Jax and Kaia are step-siblings, but they also have feelings for each other. Is it too forbidden, or can they make it work???
These two are full of tension and spice. But they also are very young and learning how to communicate with each other and really learning how to be adults in a relationship. From the very beginning, you can see how much they care for each other, but are both scared of how they feel.
The only reason I gave this 3 stars and not 4 was because of the "love triangle". I did not realize this book had a love triangle before I started reading it. But I still really liked this book. I finished it in just a few hours.
Just 500 pages of spice, miscommunication, and chaos
But I enjoyed it all. The story itself was very surface level no depth to the characters and their backgrounds.. Or the parents being in Australia 99% of the book. But it was funny and irritating all the same. Kaia needed to stand up and Jax needed to find a grip and get it. But Cam, Trystan, and Owens book will make me rip my hair out. I could barely stand them in this book. Cam deserves better than Trystan. Owen deserves better than Cam. And Trystan needs to let that situationship go he’s making Cam look stupid. Like girl STAND UP. Owen my boy.. you’re better than a 2nd option. Go find it.
I was really excited to read this one. It was recommended to me on facebook, but this is 1000% a badly written wattpad story. You know the ones where you can’t tell if it was written by a high school student. That’s what this book was like. I tried to get into it but the writing was poor and jumped all over the place. I didn’t know how old the characters were or if they were in high school or college. I didn’t get very far into the book and the timeline was off. I wanted to like it, but I just couldn’t.
Ok, so I’ve read a lot of books. A LOT! The step brother trope has been a taboo favorite. However they are usually not very well written or manly focus on s*x scenes. This book was well written with only a handful of noticeable grammar errors. I loved the evolution of Jax and Kaia’s relationship and would definitely purchase this book to re-read many times. And I don’t say that about every book I read! I definitely couldn’t put it down and finished it the same day (even if I didn’t go to sleep because I was hooked)
I originally saw this on tik tok weeks ago and immediately saved it to my list to read once the release date come. I absolutely loved this book I couldn’t put it down the characters were amazing and the spice was the perfect amount and didn’t overwhelm the plot of the story. I am hoping other side characters get their own stories in the future and will definitely be reading this again :)
I finished it. At time it felt like it was written by a teenager instead of an adult. I couldn’t connect with her it felt like if she was a bit stupid. Your telling me that everyone and they momma knew you bring another man to his hockey game was a problem every your best friend and you still do it on some it fine he won’t even notice time shit. Funny but also dumb and get mad when he does the same jealous air head crap his been in the entire book. It’s a bit messy but I liked it enough
I found this book really hard going and by half way through I couldn’t care less about the characters anymore. I never leave a book unfinished but I really couldn’t read more than a few pages without losing interest.
There will be people who love the book but unfortunately thats not me. I found the characters boring and the story was really similar to so many I’ve read.
I enjoyed this forbidden romance novel. It was light and full of steamy scenes. Jax had issues with commitment but it all worked out in the end. Kai and Jax were in love with each other. Everyone knew it, all the characters in the book and also the reader. It was fun just watching it all play out.
I really loved this book great story. Loved the MMC and the FMC their chemistry was amazing, the spice was really good. I really enjoyed the story and it had a great message to do with how women feel about their bodies and I thought the author done a great job at getting that message across.
I have been waiting for this story for a while. I enjoyed Jax and Kai. This had enough angst, romance, plot, and spice to keep my interest. Watching them get to their HEA was well worth the stupid things Jax did. I really hope the side characters get their own books. I really want to know how they get their happy ending and who they get it with.
Originally found this in the Kindle Vellas and then found it's been transferred to KU. I loved Kia and Jax story with all the twist and turns. There is a lot of drama and spice throughout. I can't wait to read the rest of their siblings books as well as Cam, Owen and Alex.
I love this story. These two had some things to figure out to make it work, but they did. They went through a lot to get there. Kai knew what she wanted, but it took Jaxtyn a bit longer to figure out he not only wanted forever but he couldn't live without her, no matter what.
Jax and Kai are possibly my newest favorite taboo couple now! I loved how the book wasn't full-on focused on the spice itself. There was still SO much plot and storyline going on that it fit really well together (imo). A "true" feel for the taboo vibe.
Not for me, I should have DNFed but kept hoping it would redeem itself. I love a super forbidden trope, I've read step-siblings before so that doesn't bother me. Parts of the dynamic didn't make sense, and there were a few inconsistencies that bothered me.
I don't think the actual ages of the characters were ever said, but they acted like 15/16 year olds. Some parts were too drawn out, some parts felt like swiss cheese. The side characters were pure chaos in a trying to take over the story but actually teasing their own stories kind of way. Like there was too much focus on them at parts, but information was intentionally withheld for dramatic effect/cliffhanger vibes.
Wanted to love it, but just couldn't get past the immaturity and the writing style. Just not for me.
I like this author's stories and her writing. However, I don't understand how an author can make mistakes on names of her own characters while writing her book. Bradley or Robert? Who is who? Linda or Liz? Who is Who? Just ridiculous to me. Had to take a star off for that.
It’s a good book, I hope that we get more stories for some of the other characters in the book.. siblings and friends Trystan, cam, Owen, syn… maybe even Alex because that man deserves someone to love him ♥️
TikTok got me on a book again. It was really slow but I was enjoying the plot enough to keep reading. Then the author shoved pretty much every trope they could think of in the last 15%. I have whiplash.
This was my first Michele Sawyer book and it will not be the last. Hot hockey player who is also the FMC's step brother. I loved the banter between the characters. The spice level was 3 out of 5 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
This one had a little of everything to keep.you reading. Jax definitely had some growing to do, and so did Kaia. I liked watching these two figure it out.
