A very personal look into the mind and passion of this great man. Open, honest, and humbling to read. Meditating on each passage might be the best way to read this one. I read straight through and found there to be a heavy load to think about following each read.

At first, I understood that this is the kind of book that would be better read one passage a day since it's meditations by St. Padre Pio. I decided against such an approach and read through the meditations only to find myself bored with the book. That's what I did wrong.

I still find some of Pio's theology and logic challenging and to some extent disagreeable, but only by allowing myself to stay open-minded did I see the jewels of wisdom hidden in the book.

The two most important things I took away from reading this book: saints deal with lots of grief (with incredible hits of ecstatic joy) as they grow closer to God, so I should naturally expect the same; I also grew more open-minded by reading material that I don't 100% would preach or live out myself.

Be very careful whom you recommend this oo! It may turn some people away from spiritual reading material, and to some who desire a life of prayer & penance, it would only enhance it.
