Millions of demons. Seven Tower Floors. Only one man equipped to make the Climb. The Higher Powers of the Integrated Universe thought humanity was their plaything. But Dirk and his magical sidekick aim to prove them wrong with blade, beak, and the blessing of Fate.
The other aliens making the Climb are faster, stronger, and ready to kill. But Dirk can’t stop—won’t stop—until humans become the apex predators of the Tower.
Follow Dirk and Lex as they min-max the Apocalypse using the power of Fate. Because if they don’t, Earth is doomed.
Don’t miss this new LitRPG Apocalypse featuring a pragmatic hero, a loveable sidekick, and a unique System. It’s perfect for fans of Dungeon Crawler Carl, the Perfect Run, and Towers of Heaven.
The MC is a felon that did a ten year stretch. He is super humanly fast, can jump better than an NBA star, and is in love with Ninja Warrior. Completed a trial set for a harder planet. Oh and he wants to be a ninja.
The individual in charge of the system is a moron that keeps messing everything up. Loves Rocky and thinks the movies are the pinnacle of greatness. Implemented a filter for swearing yet we get More cussing not less.
Way too many pop culture references for my taste.
I'm not a fan of the idiot system plotline. Don't like the MC at all. Nothing hooked me for this story.
Due to the nature of Goodreads’ aggregate review system, I only leave 5-star reviews. Please note that a 5-star rating does not mean the book is perfect; it simply means I enjoyed it and would recommend it to others. I will try to specify in my review the type of reader who might enjoy the book.
Negative reviews are not something I typically write.
I primarily listen to audiobooks, so I’m not concerned with punctuation or minor editing errors. However, I may comment on the quality of the narration.
Review:
Ignore the one-star reviews from people who didn’t finish the book or really get that far into it. The book is quite enjoyable, with a lot of potential for a very interesting series moving forward. Give it a chance if you’re a fan of time loop stories. Phil Thron does a great job with the narration.
So it starts off with The system apocalypse but the guy in treasure with screw some stuff up and I protagonist ends up getting some perks nothing too far from standard. Stupid thing is the protagonist managed to get seven extra lives basically and immediately burns through most of them trying to fight one guy he doesn't have to fight. It's really stupid. The protagonist makes mistake after mistake after mistake all while talking about how exciting it is for the apocalypse And how he is read so many books about a system apocalypse and he knows what to do. The classes are all also super atypical and weird.
I absodamnlutely loved this book! I really didn't know anything about the book, other than I trusted Aethon the publisher and I've enjoyed Phil Thron in the past... And don't get confused by the cover, the red cape... Darling of Fate isn’t a story of supers, it's a well rounded action-driven litRPG adventure. And it's well worth the time it takes you to listen. So join Dirk and his goose companion, yeah you heard me I said goose companion, as they build a team and go gallivanting though the system.
This was a really fun action packed read. Lots of things going on with a well written and gripping story. I lost some sleep to keep reading and it was totally worth it! The story manages to be both dark and light hearted at the same time, definitely worth reading!
This book is a total let down after reading the intro and then reading the book it's totally different ,then the writer put in a love interest which I hated .This was supposed to be a end of the world book but it was not.Where was all the monsters ,death and dying, instead we get the chasing a lost love book, what a waste of a good story
Enjoyed the apocalypse approach in this one and the focus on character development. Story was interesting, though I felt the MC was a bit of an idiot in the first third, though he recognizes that fact too which makes it less annoying. Recommend the read!
Note to self. NOPE. Don't like the humor, don't like the system companion, don't like the existence of "fate" (it cheapens any choice, like a Luck stat usually does). This could have been a cool solo leveler/climber, instead it's annoying and each new development and addition just aggravated the issue.
This one has a bit of everything, good LitRPG elements, tower climbing, a wacky system (that thankfully gets more ordered after a rocky beginning) and time loop dynamics. The MC, Derrick starts off as a jerk, but gets better. I am eager to see more.
While I liked it I couldn't help but notice the similarities to 'Dungeon Crawler Carl' . I will be very interested in our M.C.'s love life as he seems to have attracted the attention of several girls.
The MC is a middle aged man child who thinks ninjas are cool and makes his own obstacle course to become one. He tries to think of one liners and fails.
This book isn't exactly a time control book but the MC does get multiple tries. Normally I don't like that type of book but this was cleverly done. also the goose grew on me.

So far I am loving it 😍 the mc has a little know how and is actually leaning right in to the chaos. But then it got weird 😕 the person in charge of tutorial messed everything up. He gets stuck with a team he didn't choose he wanted to solo now he's stuck with a useless goose and a useless team. 😕 the person in charge has no idea what he is doing he got more than half the planet killed. He watch a bunch of TV shows and has no idea how to deal with humans and what happens when they level up is hilarious 😂 🤣I was really into this until it turned in to endless time loops and math problems and the mc got more arrogant than he already was dnf..
