Any book that teaches children about the glory of Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park is okay with me.

There were bits of this that absolutely terrified me. Poor Club Loser: on a boat, mutant sea creatures, unexpected enemies! I tell you what: they’re way braver and smarter than I’d ever be in these situations. Jennifer Killick keeps writing absolute winners with this series! Can’t wait for the next one!

As someone who dislikes being on boats (thanks to the motion of waves), DEADLY DEEP is the most terrifying entry to the DREAD WOODseries yet - and made me never want to set foot on a boat again.

Once more, Jennifer Killick brings the perfect combo of funny and creepy, making for a hair-raising, engaging read (I finished this at almost midnight because I could not put it down). It's great balance, with climbing tension that builds and builds and builds, punctuated by moments of fun to give you a breather (and make the next unnerving moment hit harder).

DEADLY DEEP kickstarts a new phase in the overall series. There is a new villain, but he has a lot of continuity in goal, method, and the desperate need it evoked in me to call social services and get a restraining order! This really helps it feel like the same series while not being repetitive, as well as upping the tension as this new guy has a few new tricks up his sleeves. There are also hints of secondary threats for the next book(s) to deal with!

I love that this series has such a strong focus on friendship alongside the creepy. Club loser gets closer and closer each instalment and it's so nice to watch. Plus there's a lot about confidence in being yourself even if it's "weird" and "not like the cool kids", which is so nice. Gus is the prime example of this.

TI am looking forward to the coming books!

“Club loser has my heart forever” same here Gus 🥲🫶🏻

Another heart warming, funny yet creepy middle grade in this series that has definitely cemented itself as a new favourite of mine. These books are an easy read, the writing is fun but always with that added suspense. They’ve never failed to make me laugh so far, and this narrator has the perfect delivery for each character - one of the best audios I’ve listened to this year.

Can’t recommend enough!!

I absolutely love the Dreadwood series, my husband bought me the first two, and I was hooked straight away! I ordered this one from amazon, and it was due to arrive a day earlier than expected, so I was like an excited puppy waiting for the amazon driver to arrive! But let's get into the review!
🐙
I love club loser a d the Dreadwood series, I hope it continues on for a long time! Now that we're into the fourth book, we're learning more about the characters, and not just the main ones, we're seeing more of the parents and teachers, and trying to uncover conspiracies that we can see, but others can't.
🐙
I love going on adventures with club loser, though the situations they get themselves into, I doubt I'd be brave or strong enough to do!
I need thought I had a favorite character, as they all bring something to the group, but I think Gus is my favourite. It won't make much sense here, but the phrase "kraken fart" made me actually laugh out loud!
🐙
I'd highly recommend this book if you're already a fan, but if you've not ready yet, but grew up with goosebumps, shivers, are you afraid of the dark etc, then I'm sure you'll enjoy these!

The fourth book of the Dread Wood Series 😍. I'm absolutely loving the series, I think I'm also loving it too because of the text font in the book too. It's just a nice size where I can read without getting headaches.

Anyway....

The gang are back together again after the last face off with the Latchitts. But this time around things are different... They group are out on the sea for a France trip, but who is helping things go oh so badly wrong? Is it people they know? Is it someone working with the Latchitts? However they did once say that they have lots of people willing to help them. 🤔🫢

I absolutely love this series because it's so twisty! I love it!

Also I love the fact that the author obviously has a love for Jurassic Park because it is mentioned in basically every book 😂, and I love that chapter 18 is called Isla Too Far? For Isla Nublar from Jurassic Park 👏🏻

This book is part of a series following a group of children from Dread Wood school.

Having already prevents a number of catastrophes in the previous books, the perpetrators now in custody (who just happen to be the evil scientist grandparents of one of the children) then surely this school trip on a ship to Corsica can only be fun? Wrong!

They should have listened to Hallie who knew the trip was doomed!

I’ll not go into details of what happens as it will spoil it for readers but I enjoyed the peril mixed with a huge dose of humour and a teacher trying to be ‘hip’!

I feel I would have benefitted from reading the rest of the series first.

Great characters, unbelievably brave children who are only in year 8 but they work really well as a team to work their way out of the predicament they find themselves in.

I’ll be reading the previous books to catch up on the back story!

Another great addition to the series.

The story has moments of terror and builds a fantastic creepy atmosphere on an (almost) abandoned ship. To offset this there are also humourous moments and the main characters are supportive of each other.

All of this series are printed in a fairly large font size which can help make it more accessible for weaker readers.

The only thing I am not a fan of in these books is that it is the poor creations of the Latchitt's who suffer and are killed in ever greater numbers. It would be fantastic if there could be a little section at the end of each book with some facts about the creatures featured in each one. An opportunity for readers to see how amazing the creatures are and how they are at threat from humans and not the other way around.

I really enjoyed this thrilling yet hilarious book!

Angelo and his 4 friends are back yet again. , and this time, they’re on a school residential. They’re off to study ocean science, which seems quite cool and exciting at first, until they realise that something deadly is lurking in the depths. And it’s coming for them. Will they be able to defeat their new watery enemy, or will Club Loser forever be lost in the middle of the ocean?

I really enjoyed this book! This is the 4th book in the Dread Wood series, and I have absolutely loved every book I have read from this series so far! It is absolutely horrifying and creepy, but it is also absolutely hilarious and just an amazing and exhilarating read. I absolutely cannot wait to read the next two!

This is the fourth book in the Dead Wood Series. the club losers are together for another nightmare adventure. This time, they weren’t expecting too much trouble as they are on a school trip on a ship just off the coast of France. But they were so wrong as they got more than they bargained for on this short trip school trip.

This was another fun read where we got to learn more about both the main and side characters. We also get to meet some exciting new ones who are helping the in terrorising the Club Losers.

I can’t go into too many details about the storyline or characters as it would lead to spoilers for both this book and the previous ones especially if you haven’t read them yet, but I will say this was a very fun and entertaining read and possibly my favourite so far.

I highly recommend this middle-grade series and can’t wait for the next instalment, which is due out in the New Year!!

Being on a sinking boat with endless ocean around me is quite a big fear of mine. Very creepy as always.
I enjoyed this a lot more then the last book where I was getting a bit annoyed with a certain couple (trying to be spoiler-free here!). But this latest book has definitely got my interest again. Really looking forward to the next!

How does Miss Jennifer keeping getting away with it?! Each book is a banger! This awesome group of friends always make me laugh and the horror aspects keep me on my toes. Truely some terrifying moments in this one but it's balanced so well by the heartwarming and comedic dialogue our characters have.

Dread Wood: Deadly Deep continues the plights and perils of Club Loser onto the high seas. Dripping with trepidation and Jennifer Killick's trademark slick bantz.
Creepy comedy thriller at it's finest.

Feeling quite formulaic now, which I know kids will love, but for me it was just a quick read with no surprises. I still love the characters, especially the dialogue, but it's basically the same story in a different setting.

This was fun. Absolutely no memory of buying it, or why I didn't start at the beginning of the series, but it was a solid spooky read with sparky characters, and I will now go back to the beginning!

Gus is a comical character who really adds a whole new depth to the plot. Great use of similes and imagery that youths would easily relate to, also the language used is informal and inkeeping with teens - pitching the book perfectly for its intended audience!

The narrator for this series has changed. He’s very good, but the ´feel’ has changed. The book was as thrilling and scary as the others.

Fabulous middle grade comedy-horror, set on a luxury yacht besieged by an angry and aggressive octopus. Fans of Club Loser will love this. My favourite of the series.

Another fantastic book in this series. This one is set at sea which is a nice change from being in the town. It was action packed and so fast paced I had to binge read it.

More Dreadwood excitement, this time on a school boat trip. A bit shorter than the others and very predictable but still fun.
