Picking up right where Not So Silent Night left off, this story follows all The Kings and the (delightfully named) “boyfriend collective” as they continue to work tirelessly to restore Winterhaven to all its Christmas-town glory for the holidays!

It was great being back with established pair Fitz and Jack (from Stacking the Deck), who have each been through some trauma in their lives and worked hard to be where they are today, both professionally and as a couple still very much over the moon for each other.

Jack’s stubbornness and habit of taking on more responsibility and work than any one man should, has been causing some strain in his relationship with his bubbly sweetheart Fitz, but with a stern talking too by his well-meaning friends (practically brothers) and with the true spirit of Christmas all around him, Jack begins to realise what’s really important and strives to start making positive changes that will ensure his and Fitz’s prolonged happiness together.

This second instalment—in this Christmassy spin-off series (of not one but two prior Cochet series)—had a bit more emotional oomph than book one (which predominantly brought the humour and the heart), and I enjoyed revisiting Jack and Fitz at this time in their lives, where their love is still oh-so strong but life pressures were weighing them both down. It felt more realistic and relatable, and I appreciated that, mixed among the always great found family dynamics and hilarious antics these men and their friends share.

Again, I wouldn’t recommend these stories as standalones, what with how many well-established characters there are here, from two interconnected series, but for fans of both the Four Kings Security series and The Kings: Wild Card series, this holiday quartet should be a must, if you’re looking for good belly laughs and lots of heart from beloved characters.

So far, the books that I have read thus far in this delightful little Christmas series, basically are pure "fluff". There is some angst between Jack and Fritz...but not much, and they work it out. Nevertheless, it's still angst amongst all the holiday cheer.

Jack has thrown himself into work the past three years since they got together, which, for this to come up after 3 years and then to be so solved easily, didn't seem right to start with...but they considering it was their vacation, not the usual everyday workday, I could see Fritz's point and why he would be upset. Their tiff is short-lived, but even after they make up, there are some lingering affects with Fitz thinking that it'll go back to how it was...and that was totally realistic. Things are okay now but until Jack shows that things are going to change, Fritz will probably still expect the worse.

Remember that these are holiday fluff, so of course Jack starts to not work so much, and be there more for their relationship. After all they do love one another. After the "mini angst", things start to get better, and we get back to the wonderful, continued adventure from the first book. The Ice Castle work gets finished just in the nick of time...people are going to fill the little town, and the Kings have a couple of cute new "fur-babies". Ace is a bit concerned about Fitz's matchmaking efforts between the cute cafe barista, Merry (Merrick), and Noel, the sexy lumberjack who lives in town.

This one ended on what felt like a "cliffhanger", so these little gems diffidently need to be read in order, and I just need to continue the plot of saving Christmas in Winterhaven in the next one, which I'm excited to get to. So... onto the next! I still don't understand how there could possibly be this much...or any snow and cold in Winterhaven, Florida, even in December...but I'm not going to "suck the charm" out of these stories by thinking too much about it:)

⭐︎ 3.75 Stars Rounded Up! ⭐︎

It's a good thing that Jack and Fitz were already established when reading this, otherwise the slight angst that we get wouldn't have ultimately worked, because of the length of this novella.

I tagged angst in this because, for what these books are - basically pure fluff - Jack and Fitz go through some angst in this. Not much, and they work it out easily, but it's angst amongst the holiday cheer nonetheless.

Jack has thrown himself into work the past three years since they got together - which, for this to come up after 3 years and then solved pretty easily didn't entirely work, hence 1.25 stars off. Like I get it'd need to build over time, but it takes three years to get to that point? Hmm. - because of what happened to them, he's scared to hire someone new, someone he can't trust, and thus that means he has to do more and more work himself, and thus it leaves less time for his relationship with Fitz.

Even after they make up, there are some lingering affects with Fitz thinking it'll go back to how it was, so I did appreciate that realistic add in. Because until Jack shows that things are going to change, it'd be hard for Fitz to actually believe it.

But these are, ultimately, holiday fluff, so of course Jack starts to put in the work to, well...not work so much, and be there more for his and Fitz's relationship, because at the heart of it, they do love each other so much, and it is quite apparent.

So after the mini-angst, things start to get better and we get back to the wonderful fluff from the first one, and the Kings' shenanigans ensue - especially where Ace is concerned lol - especially with Fitz trying to matchmake between the cute cafe barista, Merry (Merrick is his full name), and Noel, the sexy lumberjack who lives in town.

This also kinda ends on a 'cliffhanger' but it doesn't truly feel like one again. We just need to continue the plot of saving Christmas in Winterhaven in the next one, which I'm excited to get to.

Onto the next! 😍

Another absolutely adorable installment in this Christmassy series.
Jack and Fitz were so cute, and the Ace hijinks and shenanigans were freaking PRICELESS. This one made me laugh out loud and smile and swoon; I'm so excited to be back in Gio and my precious Joker's heads for the next one.

I love that the audios are all together lol. Re-reading as an audio and it's such a comfort listening to this crazy group of guys. I love them all so much!

This story revolves around Fitz and Jack, one of the Wild Cards. Now we get to see some of the things we saw in the first book from a new POV.

I LOVE Fitz and his matchmaking ways, SO cute. I also love to see how they’re doing as a couple and love the communication and work that they put into their relationship. There is a lot of love, humor, and also some serious moments when we see how events in their book are still affected them years later. I really love this revisit with Jack and Fitz.

Love them. Now we have Gio and Joker up next and then (saving the best for last LOL) King and Leo!

Another adorable installment, but...

I love these characters and all their shenanigans, but why multiple installments of a Christmas-themed story? Why not publish just one book for the holidays? My guess is that money is the basis for multiple short stories. Why charge $5.99 for one complete book when you can charge $3.99 for each of the four installments, separately? I know I sound cynical but whatever would be the reason? While each "book" primarily involves one of the four Kings and their significant other, only a segment of the overall story is told. These books should not be read separately, or out of order, as the main theme of the books - how to save Christmas for Winterhaven - carries throughout all four planned books. So far, only two books have been published. Very annoying.

Why is this so cute, though🥺😩

This is the series I didn’t know I needed. I am the world’s biggest friggin’ grinch, but this? This pleases my brain AND my tiny, black heart. I love these characters, and getting to see them just hanging out, being precious, and having a nifty little plot and sub plots, too? Perfection.

The mechanics weren’t as solid as the first one, but they were decent. A couple of times POV changed in the middle of nowhere, too, but it didn’t ruin anything.

4.5/5! I’m honestly super excited for the rest of these to come out!

This is the second novella in the Kings: A Treemendous Christmas series and the books are best enjoyed when read in order. This story also centers on established couples from the Four Kings Security universe and features characters for whom there is a lot of backstory in previous books. In this case the main focus is on Jack and Fitz from Stacking the Deck: Wild Cards #1.

A Merry Noel to Jack and Fitz

Taking place literally just after book one, which focused on Ace and Colton, this one focuses on Jack, who's working hard to get the Ice Castle up and running, but at the risk of impacting on his time with Fitz.
Meanwhile, Ace is as insane and wild as ever, Fitz is playing matchmaker for Merry and Noel and Red is King of the Kitchen.
This is a perfect helping of found family and Christmas spirit.

This series of novellas was everything I wanted in a Christmas read and more. A perfect blend of schmaltzy Hallmark vibes, adorable romances, small-town charm, and a sprinkle of Christmas magic - all wrapped up with Charlie Cochet’s trademark wit and warmth.

Each novella adds to the story, switching POVs between couples and offering all the romance and humour you’d expect from the Kings with an added cosy Christmas vibe. The tension comes from the crew trying to save Winterhaven’s Christmas after disaster strikes their famous ice castle, but there’s none of the action or drama from the main series—this is all about love, laughter, and holiday joy.

Highlights:
Merry’s awkward but endearing crush on Noel had me giggling and swooning, especially when he blurted out that line about not thinking about sex.

Ace & Colton’s sleigh ride was pure romance perfection.

Leo’s secret scheming with Santa was so much fun - and the reveal? O-M-G, I cried.

All the little hints of Christmas magic added a delightful sparkle to the story.

And Ace… well, he got up to all the shenanigans!

Each novella brought something special:

Not So Silent Night – The crew head to Winterhaven for a snowed in Christmas. Ace does Acey things, Colton plays Christmas saviour. Leo secretly schemes with Santa.

Sleigh It Ain’t So – Jack is a workaholic butthead even on Christmas holidays (don’t worry, he redeems himself), Fitz plays match-maker, and Gio works his magic to save Christmas like a boss.

Home for the Howlidays – Nobody has figured out what Leo is up to yet! Ace breaks Joker. Joker buys a gorgeous gift for Gio. We finally find out what Leo was up to and O-M-G! Love! It's a cliffhanger, but it's okay, we get the rest in the next novella.

Rebel Without a Clause – We go back to the beginning of the Winterhaven Christmas to see it through Leo & King’s POV. I loved the opening scene from Leo's POV, he's so adorable. Leo obsesses over fish-shaped sweets. Chef's kiss!

I read this a couple of weeks ago, and writing this review made me cry because I loved it so much and it was nice to relive my favourite moments. If you’re a fan of Charlie Cochet’s Kings, this is an absolute must-read. And if you’re new to her books, what are you waiting for? Go dive into the Kings or THIRDS - you won’t regret it!

What to expect:
4 Christmas novellas: Ace & Colton, Jack & Fitz, Joker & Gio, Leo & King
The novellas are 4 parts of the same story, told from the POV of different couples
The Kings & Wildcards crew with the boyfriend collective
Snowed in
Small-town
Hallmark Christmas vibes
A little Christmas magic
3rd person POV
Doggos!
Ace shenanigans
Christmas match-making - Merry & Noel

I'm going to write one review for this series and basically post it to all of them, because really this is just one big lovely holiday story about all the Kings/extended Kings/and the boyfriends.

I thoroughly enjoyed returning to this world and the idea of all of these guys just getting away for a little bit. Of course nothing can be as simple as all that in the Kings world.

Of course it's Colton (Not so Silent Night) who gets the big idea to finally have the white Christmas he's always sort of dreamed of having. And Ace will do anything to give his man the big family white Christmas of his dreams. So, King's reluctance or not they're all going to be going Winterhaven for a month and indulge in all the Christmas traditions the town has to offer. It can't be that smooth of course as the poor town's about to have a pretty un-stellar Christmas as their town hall/Ice Castle was damaged in some foul weather and they've had to cancel most of the holiday plans. Hello to all the guys as they have the perfect plan to save Winterhaven's Christmas.

Fitz (Sleigh it Ain't So) and Jack pick things up and fixing the wiring and the electricity to the Ice Palace quickly begins to show the cracks in their relationship. Fitz would do anything for Jack, but Jack's workaholic coping mechanism is driving a wedge between them that Jack is oblivious to. Sprinkle a little Christmas magic though and Fitz can find more happiness than ever, and bring along another couple along the way.

Gio and Joker (Home for the Howlidays) were always two of my favorites and by this point all of the dogs are an additional crack up. In trying to get more people into town, Gio's got the perfect plan and it brings Joker face to face with his biggest fear in their relationship. That now that Gio's health is managed he's going to want more to his life and return to the jet setting philanthropy lifestyle he's always known. Of course facing those fears will have the two closer than ever.

And running through it all is Leo's (Rebel without a Claus) secret plan that no one's party to, but somehow involves Santa, or at least the town's mayor who looks like Santa. He's got something big planned for King and is determined to accomplish it all on his own.

I loved all of the shenanigans in this story as everyone pulled together to save this town's biggest event and it brought all of their relationships a little closer together. I would have loved to see a little more of what Leo was up to (ok so I really wanted to see his interactions with Santa, especially the first one), but all in all this was a lovely Christmas story that had me smiling across all four books.

great holiday story in a small package

Rating: 4.5 🌈

Sleigh It Ain’t So, the second short story in Cochet’s A Treemendous Christmas series, is focusing primarily on a favorite character of mine, Fitz Harlow. Fitz, one of the Boyfriend Collective, is a fabulous character, along with his standard poodle, Duchess, who goes everywhere with him and his boyfriend, Jack, one of the Four Kings Security Agency. It’s their relationship and Jack’s reaction to the traumatic events that’s still effecting their lives that has everyone concerned.

This is a short tale that still pursues that overall arc themes of saving the town of Winterhaven and its famous Christmas celebration, but Cochet is beautifully threading through multiple storylines, like Fitz and Jack’s , to both highlight the couple and still illustrate how much they love each other and fit that into the overall plot and town’s character.

It’s the couple that Fitz was working on bringing together, the various buildings that need repairing, the Christmas lights and townspeople with their own stories and holiday names. Cochet is merrily weaving it all together into a single story and overall narrative that satisfies our need for romance and a sleigh full of the Christmas spirit. With adorable dogs even.

And it looks like they might be the main stars of the next installment, Home for the Howlidays! I’m thoroughly enjoying this series and this was just another great story in a small package.

I’m highly recommending it.

As I stated in my review for book 1: Not So Silent Night, I have only read the original Four Kings Security entries in the Four Kings Universe so I was unfamiliar with Jack and Fitz's love story from the first book in The Kings: Wild Card series which was titled, Stacking the Deck. I make note of this because I want to say that I was not lost in any way but I can't lie there were a few tidbits of info referenced that I'm sure would have made a little more sense context-wise but in no way did it lessen my love for the couple in Sleigh it Ain't So.

So as not to ruin not only the fun of this entry but of The Kings: A Treemendous Christmas series as a whole I'm going to keep this short and sweet.

From the big, burly, former soldier members of the Four Kings to the lovingly called Boyfriend Collective who on the surface may seem a bit on the lightweight side of the fierce scale, there is never any doubt what lengths all members of this tightknit group will go to to protect each other. Considering the world they live in and the dangerous chaos that generally brings the pairs together, it's not only enjoyable to see them handle a destination holiday vacation, the zanyness to their chaos is actually highly addictive. Let's face it anytime Ace is involved there is always a tinge of zany but with this series he brings an extra special layer of hilarity but Jack and Fitz have their own unique brand of humor too. Combine all this with the established romance between the MCs, Jack and Fitz, Charlie Cochet has given us a rom-com chock full of both the rom and the com.

A short quick fun read

While this storyline is a bit more serious/angsty than the first it still has lots of fun moments (thanks Ace and Fitz!) and it reinforces the found family theme. This book also reinforces the Kings “growing up” theme we have going…easing up on the work hours and not feeling like they need to be in the field all the time…being the bosses now as they get older.

In this book Jack is working constantly trying to get the Ice Castle’s electrical system back in working order. He isn’t taking care of himself and Fitz isn’t seeing much of him on what is supposed to be a vacation. It’s a reflection on how work had been going at home as well. Jack’s brothers are worried about him and how he might be messing up his relationship with Fitz.

The storyline allows us to see the love between the members of this found family, reinforces the “time to reevaluate” theme, and gives us some fun, silly, sweet and romantic moments. The ending is beyond sweet and romantic and goes with the “one partner demonstrating how much they know and understand their partner” moment ending the first book initiated.

I’m enjoying this seemingly wrapping up the series (at least before a new direction starts?) series of sweet holiday moments. Looking forward to the next one.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I enjoyed this Christmas novella. Sleigh It Ain’t So is the second novella in The Kings: A Treemendous Christmas Series. This novella was packed full of humour and hijinks that I expect from The Kings and the Boyfriend Collective, especially when Ace is involved. Even though this novella features all the characters that we’ve gotten to know and love while reading all the books in the Four Kings Universe, Fitz and Jack are at the forefront. All the dogs are stinking adorable and they each have their own personalities that shine through, it was mainly Duchess but the others got a mention. I’m looking forward to reading the next novella. It’s Gio and Joker’s turn next. I’d definitely recommend this novella, series, universe and author to everyone.

******I received an early copy of this book because I’m a member of Charlie’s Patreon. I happily reviewed this book and I would do so even if I purchased it. My thoughts and feelings about this book are completely unbiased******

This refers to the audiobook version.
Hold on tight for another cute as story. I just want to keep going with the whole Kings Security World stories and this one was next. All of the main guys and the boyfriend collective travel to a holiday town for a white Xmas. What could possibly go wrong. Well at least no explosions so far, but lots of funny antics from all of my favourite characters. This one is from Jack and Fitz's perspective and includes match-making.
Just so you know the fours Christmas books are basically one big Coda novel, with each carrying on directly from the other, so I am just plunging on.
As always Greg's narration brings these character to life. He is the best.

I was a little surprised (but no disappointed) that the second Christmas novella was about Jack and Fitz rather than the original four couples. Definitely not complaining though since they are such a good couple. This book picked up right where the first one left off, with the Kings crew trying to help the town of Winterhaven with their Christmas celebration. A little spicy, a lot sweet, this one had just enough conflict to keep things interesting without being too intense for the holiday vibe.

No movie magic

This Christmas short focuses on Jack and Fitz as the Kings continue to help fixing Winterhaven. These two face a bit more relationship concerns though, as Jack throws himself a bit too much into fixing the town. It reveals an ongoing concern between the two for what the future will mean for them. They must find out how to balance their own desires to be together along with how they work and live. Another great segment in this series!

Short and Sweet

Jack and Fitz are so darn cute. I loved getting a quick little visit with them. I am glad they all knocked some sense into Jack. He needs to realize he can't do it all himself. His family only asks cause they care. Fitz was in his matchmaking glory with Merry and Noel!! It was so fun to watch him work to help them out. The puppies are the stars of this family though!!

4/5 This was a fun second instalment of the Kings’ Christmas shenanigans. We get a bit more serious with Jack dealing with the after effects of his book, but we get a happy resolution, too. I loved Fitz’s matchmaking with Merry and Noel (and Merry’s shouted compliments, lol). It was nice when Jack and Fitz could work together.

Definitely reads best if you’ve read the other Kings series and know these characters already.

So sweet

So this one is Felix and Jack as the front and center couple. Jack finally realizes that he works way too much and is taking time away from them as a couple. He finally comes to his senses and decides that he can delegate work and that it’s time to hire someone new. Can’t wait for the next book.

Book 2 is the continuation of the Christmas story. Jack and Fitz are featured heavily in this sweet Christmas treat. Can Jack get the electricity working in the Ice Castle without falling apart and ruining his and Fitz’ relationship? Can Fitz the matchmaker Noah and Merry together? Fun and sweet. This one focuses on Jack and Fitz. Jack is obsessed with getting the electrical fixed on the Winterhaven palace in time for the Christmas activities. He’s feeling the pressure, not eating or sleeping, and putting his relationship at risk. In the mean time Fritz is playing matchmaker with the locals.

Decorating? Helping? Matchmaking? Perfect!!!

What’s not perfect this Christmas is all the hours Jack has put in to fix the electrics in the Ice Castle. How can his boyfriend Fitz help him? Then there’s Fitz’s great idea on how to get Merry and Noel together. Enjoy the challenges, drama and fun in store for these passionate men!!!

Fitz & Jack!

Fitz is adorable. Jack works too much. I like seeing these characters again, and I love seeing Jack actively work on his relationship with Fitz. These two are really sweet together, but there were some tears for me here and there through the book. I am still loving the chaos that is the Four Kings family.
