Kendall Devin is either too much or not enough—it depends on which of her recent boyfriends you ask. Fed up with relationships, she dives into the world of casual Tinder hook-ups instead. She’s horrified to discover the man she’s been sexting for the past week is the father of one of her kindergarteners.

Mason Reed recently gained full custody of his daughter, Finley, and moved back into his overbearing parents’ house. He has no time for relationships—and he especially doesn’t need any added drama in his or Finley’s lives. So while Kendall has caught his eye, he knows getting romantically involved with his daughter’s teacher is a bad idea.

The two attempt to forget about their connection, but with Mason volunteering at school at every given opportunity, that proves to be difficult. Not even planning the school’s fall festival can distract Kendall from Mason’s flannel-wrapped charm. And the more they’re together, the harder it is for either of them to resist temptation.

Mason is the first man who makes Kendall truly feel seen, and he can’t stop imagining her becoming part of his family. To him, she's perfect. But how could this possibly work?

ARC review:
First off, I was excited to even get the opportunity to read this before it officially comes out. I loved the first book following Owen and Sarah. I knew I was going to be interested in Kendall, a Kindergarten teacher, and single dad Mason! Where to start with this book, I loved all the references of Kindergarten from the way Kendall was as a teacher to the interactions she had with her students.

Mason just always puts his daughter first and the way he calls Kendall princess 😍

Finley is so cute and quirky. I want to just cry thinking of the trauma she experienced.

I just felt giddy the whole time reading this and even through the forbidden love, this was so good! I am curious to see what else will be coming forward (future books with the same characters?)

also, I need a Fall festival shirt!! please and thank you!

Loved this book! Mason is dad of the year!! And as a kindergarten teacher myself, I can totally relate to Kendall! The characters are so flirty and fun, there is some GOOOOOD spice 🌶️, and author Katie Cawood does an amazing job at tackling some real life tough stuff.
If you need a cute romance story to just make you feel good- read this series!

Big thanks to the author for letting me be an ARC reader! Here is my honest review-

I really enjoyed the first book, but wasn’t sure what I thought about Kendall in it. Can I just say, that she and Mason made me love this second book even more!!

Kendall just feels like someone that everyone can relate to. She’s loving, confident, and has her own struggles that make her feel like a real person. Mason is seriously one of the sweetest and most perfect little book boyfriends. He’s the most adorable dad just trying to do his best and he falls sooooo hard. He wants to protect his people, AND HE’S ARTSY??! Like come on people, you cannot not like him.

I enjoyed the flow of the story and the duel POV. The chemistry was already strong in the beginning, but the different situations that occurred through the story helped to build it in a fun and not overbearing way. It felt like it happened naturally and not insta-like.

One of my favorite aspects of it was all of the funny nerdy references slipped in as well as Taylor Swift things threaded throughout. The ending wrapped up in a nice way without it feeling rushed. I am happy that we will get more answers for Owen and Sarah in the future, but I secretly want some more answers /stories about Abigail and Xander. Maybe one day!

Highly recommend this for my teacher friends and anyone who enjoys spicy and fun situations, laughing out loud, and unlimited oh my gosh/awww moments.

I hope I can properly express how much I love this book. This easily is better than a lot of popular contemporary romance out there, so I hope you give it a try. I preordered this back in Dec when I read book one, Lesson Learned, which was one of my favorite reads of 2023 & my top indie read of the year.

The characters feel like real, messy people with real, messy people problems and all the trouble that comes with that.

You can read this as a standalone but I highly recommend you start with book 1 to get the backstory of Owen and Sarah—they feature heavily in book 2, which is set a couple years later. That book is great too!

I don’t want to spoil, but the romantic relationship is GOLD. The development feels so natural and right.

Highlights:
— Kendall’s kindergarten class scenes. Authors don’t always write kids well. Katie Cawood absolutely writes an accurate kindergartener and it’s wonderful!
— The frequently deflating bouncy house. No, I won’t elaborate because, spoilers.
— Apple orchard kindergarten field trip
— Finley!!! <3 her

I stayed up waaaaay too late last night to finish this, it’s that good.

I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about a love story for Kendall after Sarah and Owen's love story in Lesson Learned. I didn't feel invested in Kendall enough, but I am absolutely blown away.
I loved Lesson Learned, in my opinion Love Lessons was better. Here is a compilation of emotions that I felt reading this in the form of emojies:
😏🫣🫠🥵😍🥹🤗🥵🥲🥰🥺😑🥵🥹🥹🥹😃

The relationships between all of the characters seemed so realistic and genuine. I loved all the family dynamics. Mason is #dadgoals #zaddy (unclear if I'm using that right or if I'm too old to use that).
Mason, standing up for his daughter and himself and then Kendall, made me love him so much. He always put Finley first, and my heart was so full. I loved seeing Mason speaking up for himself with his dad and Kendall's relationship with her dad, I won't spoil anything, but I'm glad that those stories were included and expanded on.
Finley was a hoot, and I love her. Mason's mom and sister were just wonderful. Heath was eh and Xander was 👎🏼 which tells me that he was well written. You can't have so many negative feelings about a fictional character unless they are written well.
Anyway, I would highly recommend this book.

I was so excited for this book but a little hesitant at the same time - let me explain. 1) I absolutely adored Lesson Learned (Book 1). Sarah and Owen - perfect! However, I was not a fan of Kendall in Book 1 - mostly because I was so Team Sarah. 2) Its a romance that is over 400 pages long which I find tend to drag a bit.

HOLY S***! Katie knocked this book out of the damn park! I loved Kendall so much in this book - she is very relatable and human. She is sassy and confident but she still has very real issues she is aware of and working through. Mason is dad of the freaking year! His determination to always put Finley first ….SWOON! Little Finley completely steals the show whenever she is around - the end “what the hell?!” I died!

The book was very well paced - a lot happens but it never dragged. I didn’t even realized I was at the end until I was there. I loved that we got to see updates on Owen and Sarah’s relationship from Kendall and Own’s point of views.

10/10 - highly recommend! Read this book - also read Lesson Learned! You won’t be disappointed!

Huge thanks to @authorkatiecawood for allowing me to be an early reader for Love Lessons.

When I read her debut novel, Lesson Learned, I fell in love with Katie’s writing style and Sarah and Owen, the main characters. When it came time for arc reading Love Lessons I went into it knowing I’d love it and it would be a favorite, but WHEW did it deliver.

Immediately I fell in love with both Kendall and Mason. You can feel their chemistry right away and while they each had their own “baggage” their story was written beautifully. I love that we got to see more of Sarah and Owen without taking away from Mason and Kendall’s story.

Mason is perfection. Literal perfection. As a mom his determination and need to put Finely first made me fall for him even more. He’s such a great Dady and you could tell how much he loved that little girl.

Kendall is a character that I relate to in terms of her “daddy issues” and navigating those feelings. That’s a whole issue that I could talk about for hours and I think a lot of people would agree with me but I won’t go there. She’s such a good fit for both Mason and Finley and I just love her.

Finley… she’s the show stealer. Her personality and interactions with Elijah were so stinkin’ adorable. This sweet girl deserves the world and I just know between Mason and Kendall that’s exactly what she’ll get and then some.

I didn’t want their story to end and I was so sad when I got to the last page and realized I had reached the end.

If you love single dad, forbidden love, teacher, met on a dating app, and “princess” vibes then check out Love Lessons.

This keeps getting better

Disclaimer: I received a free ARC from the author and this is my honest opinion.

This is the second book in the Woodvale series. And if you read book 1 and thought Kendall was awesome; this is your chance to finally see her find love in the cutest way possible. Katie has a talent for taking the “potentially inappropriate (don’t worry; there is nothing to clutch the pearls over 😂) and slightly messy” dynamic and turning it into “empathetically human and delightfully heartwarming”. I loved this book so much; it was sweet, funny (the nicknames, IYKYK), sexy and funnily, quite relaxing. There was a lot of character growth, especially the MMC, Mason. I also loved seeing Sarah and Owen take a significant amount of space on the page. Congratulations Katie, and thank you so much for sharing an ARC with me.

I am so happy to see Kendall get her well deserved happily ever after! I loved her character in 'Lesson Learned', and I was looking forward to reading about her.

Kendall is an amazing kindergarten teacher, but she is unlucky in love. On the meet the teacher day at school, she finds out that the man that she has been sexting is the dad of one of her new kindergarten students! She is so attracted to him, but unfortunately, she can't be with him now.

Mason is shocked to see the his daughter, Finley's, new kindergarten teacher is the woman that he has been talking to on a dating app. He agrees to be a homeroom parent helper in Finley's class, and he spends more time with Kendall.

They try to keep things professional, but one thing leads to another and things change for them. It leads to lots of fun sneaking around, and it gets steamy!

I loved role of family in this story because Mason is a single dad, and the mother of his child is not in the picture. There was so much care in handling Mason and Finley's trauma from the situation, and it was so important to see them both in therapy. There was also amazing ADHD and anxiety rep in the book.

Even though it's now spring time, the fall vibes in this book were so strong! Fall is my favorite season so I loved it!

Overall, this was such a fun story, and I really loved the relationship between Kendall and Mason. I cried and swooned and smiled so much in this book.

Thanks to the author, Katie Cawood, for an ARC of this book. I'm looking forward to more books in the series.

I am loving these books! My favorite thing about this was watching Kendall’s growth from Lesson Learned to the end of Love Lessons. I love that Kendall is not afraid of who she is and going after what she wants.
Mason is such a good dad and Finley is so precious. I love all the very issues presented (family drama, fertility issues, single parents, divorce, etc), all while still having a very ‘feel good’ story.
Highly recommend!

Thank you for the e-arc Katie!!

This book has sparked a desire in me to read more teacher and single dad trope books! I ate this up. I loved the flirty banter back and forth between the MCS. The spice was unbelievably spicy! Mason and his mouth 🥵🔥 and the nickname he chooses is just perfect!

I related so much to Kendall as a previous kindergarten teacher. This book really made me miss teaching. I loved the characters and the characters and this book! I felt like they were real people that I could just got to the elementary school and hangout with. I feel like Mason deserves the father of the year award for how well he takes care of and loves his daughter.

I didn’t read the previous book in this series ( Lesson Learned ) and I feel like I wasn’t missing anything. Everything seemed to cohesively run together smoothly. Now I can’t wait to read the first book in the series!

ARC REVIEW

This is a very nice, cute, romantsy book. A super great palette cleanser and I definitely got butterflies 🦋. I read through it in two sittings, so definitely not hard to get into, or finish. Which was very nice.

I haven’t read the previous book but I don’t think that it hindered me from understanding, so it can definitely be read as a stand-alone.

I’m a student teacher myself so it was very interesting to see this play out, though I would’ve liked to see more problematisation around the fact that their relationship was forbidden, because it wasn’t essentially a problem since Sarah was okay with it in the end. And I would’ve liked an epilogue, what happened after? Did they continue sneaking around, since it was against policy?

The sexual tension is immaculate and I’m so glad I didn’t have to finish 80% of the book to get to the spice. So def not a slow burn. And even though Mason was trying to find love, I love that he always put Finley first! Immediate green-flag!! Though I cringed a bit when he said that Kendall was the second best thing that’s ever happened to him. Maybe he could’ve said that Kendall was one of the best things that had ever happened to him.

BTW I LOVED THE ACOTAR REFERENCE🥹

AND THE BOUNCY CASTLE😍 so creative and fun🥰

All in all a very cute quick-read and I enjoyed it immensely🥹 thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book before its release Katie. My first ARC reading🫶🏽🥹🦋

Overall - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars!

Spice Level - 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5 / 5

Let me start by saying “Love Lessons” was one of my most anticipated reads because I absolutely loved the first book in the Woodvale Series, And Katie did not disappoint!! Although I definitely think this book can stand on it own, reading Sarah and Owen’s story first definitely makes it even better!

Kendall and Mason’s chemistry is A+ and Finley in the mix is the perfect combination of funny and heartwarming.

The spice is this book is *chefs kiss* (which means really good)! I gave it 3.5/5 for not being gratuitous, I think it had the perfect amount for a forbidden romance !

Mason is the absolute definition of “Golden Retriever” and Kendall felt so relatable, I loved the ADHD and Anxiety representation that so many of us struggle with.

Overall this book gave me all the fuzzy feelings and laugh out loud moments I was hoping for while being sexy and I absolutely recommend it to anyone! I cannot wait for the next book! 🫶🏻

I LOVED THIS BOOK! From the trope, to the characters, this book was incredible start to finish. After reading Lesson Learned, I couldn’t wait for more by Katie Cawood. I was waiting until Spring Break to read this, and it did not disappoint. I loved reading about Kendall’s growth throughout the book, and man, Mason is dad of the year.

Finley just makes this book. Her spunk, charisma, and overall intelligence was amazing.

I felt giddy the whole time reading this, and it really got me out of my reading slump! Cannot wait to see what is next for the Woodvale series!

SUMMARY:
Reeling from the failure of her previous two relationships, Kendall, a kindergarten teacher, finds herself living with her sister and searching the dating apps for some release. She matches with a hot, Thor-like hunk named Mason and they flirt their way into setting up a hook up. But before they can make their date happen, Mason shows up in her classroom with his daughter, one of her new students. Worse, the rules for her school are clear: no fraternization between teachers and parents. When Mason becomes a volunteer at the school, her need to follow the rules comes head-to-head with her need for the man of her dreams - or at least her desire for him.

Love Lessons by Katie Cawood is a romantic comedy is the second novel in her Woodvale Series and features Kendall, a supporting character from the author’s first novel, Lesson Learned, and Mason along with his daughter, Finley. The two main characters from Lesson Learned, Sarah and Owen, return as supporting characters and feature heavily in the plot.

REVIEW:
I loved the author’s first book, Lesson Learned. It was the very first romance novel I ever read, not counting those written by authors named Brontë or Austen. So when the opportunity came up to read her second book ahead of release, I seized it.

Love Lessons is an excellent follow-up. As fun as it was to see more of Sarah and Owen’s lives after the first book, the most outstanding aspects of the story lie in the main characters and their believability and the empathy you feel for them in every scene.

There’s a little bit of Kendall in all of us, a woman living in constant struggle with what she thinks she wants versus what she needs versus what actually happens to her. Her joys, her sorrows, her frustrations, and her triumphs are all so very real.

And Mason embodies the inner golden retriever in all of us; trying his absolute best to make the best decisions for himself, his daughter, and everyone he loves, including the blonde bombshell who steals his heart.

Oh, and Love Lessons is funny. The chemistry between Kendall and Mason - clothes-on and clothes-off - and their banter is hilarious. Their desires, their angst, and their relationships with each other and the rest of the book’s characters is amazing. I laughed out loud more times than I care to admit.

My one complaint - a small one - is that the resolution of the book’s overall conflict - the will-they/won’t-they situation with her being a teacher and him being the dad of one of her students - feels overly simple; almost an afterthought. But don’t let that stop you from reading Love Lessons; it’s funny and swoony and damned delightful!

CONCLUSION:
Overall - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
Spice - 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (3/5)

(An ebook advanced reader copy of Love Lessons was provided to me by the author and I am an uncompensated reviewer. I also purchased my own personal digital copy of the novel.)

After reading Lesson Learned, I was so in love with Sarah and Owen that I didn’t think another Woodvale couple could ever compete with their love story… and now I’m happy to report that I was VERY wrong!!

Mason and Kendall’s story was so much more than just a man and woman falling in love. While starting out as a Tinder match with the promise for a one night stand, their flirtatious and nude pic-filled exchanges were quickly shut down when they realized Kendall was the kindergarten teacher of Mason’s daughter.

They say forbidden fruit always tastes the sweetest, but what happened next was more than just lusting after what they couldn’t have. Their lives began to weave together as they learned about each other’s broken hearts and disrupted pasts, only to find that the missing pieces in their lives might be closer than they thought.

All of the characters in this book were fun and relatable, and I have absolutely no shame in admitting my favorite character was a six year old girl! Not only did I love Finley’s fake youtube channel, the girl had the SAME ridiculous response to “what do you want to be when you grow up” that I did when I was in kindergarten. I may have outgrown my obsession with jellyfish, but I hope Finley never does!

When I wasn’t melting over the sweetness of Mason and Finley’s relationship, Mason and Kendall gave me something else to get heated over. Love Lessons had a lot more spice than the first in its series, and I’m STILL grinning over the reason Mason calls her “Princess” 😏

I felt so many emotions while reading this novel and I have a feeling it’s going to find a home on my re-read shelf! I don’t care what tropes you like, if you’re a romance reader you need to read this book!!

I was so happy to be back with these characters, and as Katie promised I was really happy with how much Owen and Sarah from book 1 featured in this!
This was a single dad romance, and I feel like every time I've read one recently I've commented that I've been pleasantly surprised by how much I love the kid because often they're a bit annoying. Given I've said that to at least the last like 4 single dad romances I've read I feel like I can't really keep saying it because at this point I should be expecting to like them. But, whether I should be surprised by it or not, Finley was an absolute dream of a child. Obviously she had her moments of misbehaving like a child would, but not in an annoying way. She's had a hard life for such a young one but she's such a sweet little girl.
Mason and Kendall I'm in love with them both! Although they kind of "met" before they discovered that Kendall was going to be Finley's teacher in school, I loved the added complication of the forbidden romance being actually a school-enforced rule rather than just the issues with having a child affected by the relationship. I thought having Finley in Kendall's class was so cute too because it meant they had 1-on-1 time together without Mason to get to know each other not in a forced way or anything to do with the relationship. Finley got to fall in love with Kendall because Kendall is a lovely person, not just because she hangs around and Mason likes her.
I would have loved more at the end, not necessarily a cheesy proposal/pregnancy epilogue and of course everything was satisfactorily rounded off but they were all so cute together and I can't really say much without giving little bits away but just yeah, that was the only thing that made me sad. I'm hoping like with seeing Owen and Sarah in this one quite a lot, I'm hoping there'll be a lot more of the 5 of them in the future books too but a lil bit more Kendall, Mason and Finley would have been nice.

Love Lessons is the second book in the Woodvale series. It follows Kendall Devin on her journey towards her happily ever after. As a former teacher, I was excited to read a story with a teacher as the main character.

This is such a good book! Katie Cawood created amazing characters, and I immediately fell in love with them. Kendall is a kindergarten teacher and is a super relatable FMC. She struggles due to experiences with past relationships, but she is brave, a risk-taker, sassy, big-hearted, and confident about what she wants. Mason is the perfect book boyfriend. He is sweet, attentive, and an amazing father to his daughter Finley. He is also an artist! SWOON! Kendall and Mason were perfect for each other and had amazing chemistry. Finley is absolutely adorable. I was sad reading about the emotional trauma she struggles with. I love how Mason always puts Finley first and does what is necessary to get her the help she needs.

I enjoyed Katie Cawood’s writing style. Everything flowed so well, making finishing in one sitting easy. The story has depth, and it was fun to read. There are some unforgettable laugh-out-loud moments. One of my favorite scenes was Owen’s bachelor party. I also loved the mental health representation (ADHD & Anxiety). There are so many things to love about Love Lessons. I didn't want the story to end! I look forward to more from Katie Cawood. I am especially interested in reading more about Sarah and Owen. I highly recommend this book!

Thank you to Good Girls PR & the author Katie Cawood for an ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.*

Spice: 🌶️🌶️ 1/2
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I kind of struggled with myself on this rating, because Katie really created a story that just sucked me in from the start. As a parent myself, I was constantly finding myself pulling out my phone or kindle to sneak in some reading whenever I could. I even rocked my 7 month old to sleep while reading! Do yourself the biggest favor you can right now, and get to reading this book. The single dad, teacher romance is honestly a complete knock out that has everything you need.

Let's start with Daya and Jamie. I LOVED their side character romance and story. The one liners from Daya were perfection, the honest straightforward comments you would get from an older sister.

Mason and Kendall though, ugh I just really loved their story. From the single dad artist life, to the learning of self love of a teacher, their story was just wrapped in a bow and handed to us in this perfect novel. I loved that the issue with Mason and Finley wasn't just something as simple as a single dad afraid to bring a new woman into his child's life. Finley was such the perfect little girl, with her outgoing nature, this story brings her adorable little soul out to shine. Her and Mason's back story and conflict was created and on display for us that it makes you really feel for these characters. Kendall really was that main character you just relate to. Sending nudes on a dating app, while working through your life struggles, past relationships and just self loving herself, you really related with Kendall, and not in a forced way, which was so refreshing. I really loved how both main characters worked on their own life issues, but with the other being included. Katie really did something with this book because I have not been able to stop thinking about it! The dual POV and Taylor Swift add ins also really topped this book out for me. I'm not sure if I want to invest in going back to book one just yet, because I don't want to give up Kendall and Mason just yet !

Katie i'm in your debt for this book, it really got me out of a slump and got me back into feeling that giddy feeling i've missed from some books lately!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (0-5)
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 (0-5) I bump up for public places/outdoor spaces.

What I’m Starry-Eyed Over:
🤩 Kendall Devin is a Kindergarten teacher at Grissom Elementary.
🤩 Mason Reed is an artist—illustrator and graphic designer. He’s also a single dad to Finley—Kindergartener in Ms. Devin’s class.
🤩 They match and “chat” on Tinder a week before teacher meet-and-greet.
🤩 Fun text chats!
🤩 Forbidden romance.
🤩 My absolute favorite use of the nickname princess!
🤩 He volunteers weekly as the classroom parent.
🤩 I especially love how these two get very creative with their intimate moments with no privacy at either of their houses—when Finley falls asleep on the couch, at Owen and Sara’s wedding reception (see their story in Woodvale book 2—Lesson Learned), when they’re the last two people cleaning up at the Grissom Elementary fall festival . . .
🤩 These two have immediate chemistry and are so hot together while also connecting on a super sweet intimate level.
🤩 Great therapy/ family and child counseling representation.
🤩 Laugh-out-loud funny; romcom goodness with all the feels (even oh my gosh moments)
🤩 The Finley hugs, be still my heart.

What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About:
💫 Kendall’s self-doubt made me sad. Thank goodness it didn’t last long.

Love Lessons is the second book in the Woodvale series! It follows kindergarten teacher Kendall Devin as she navigates finding out that her Tinder match is the father of one of her students.

The one thing I absolutely love about this book is how raw and human it is. Katie’s writing, to me, is so authentic and real. She paints an amazing picture of these characters and gives the world around them something to play off of. Was way too invested in the side characters. Plus after book one Owen and Sarah have my heart.

Right from the beginning Mason is such a swoony MMC and showing him as a dad just makes him so much hotter. Kendall is sassy and has this energy about her that just screams kindergarten teacher. I love how confident she is with her body and it’s inspiring to be able to read about an FMC who absolutely loves her curves.

Mason and Kendall were hilarious, sexy as hell, and made me kick my feet so much. My kindle almost went flying a few times. A certain Fall Festival was the main cause of it.

Finley Reed steals the book in every scene she’s in. I love that kid so much and her imaginary YouTube channel! 😉

P.S. I was sold with all the Taylor Swift references in this book. Me and Kendall are one and the same.

Huge thank you to Katie for giving me the opportunity to read your ARC.

Kendall is a kindergarten teacher who finds out that the man she has been messaging on Tinder is actually the father of one of her students, and he has decided to be a Room Parent volunteer this year! Attraction simmers between them the more time they spend together.

Single parent is one of my FAVORITE tropes, and I absolutely adored the addition of Kendall being Finley’s teacher as well. There is a secret and forbidden aspect to their relationship ship and I loved reading their failed attempts to stay away from each other due to the rules and expectations with her being his daughter’s teacher.

There WAS spice, but I would say it is a relatively low spice level. There are a few explicit scenes in the second half of the book, but there is much more plot outside of the spicy scenes. I really enjoyed the way each character’s backstory played a huge role in how they interacted with each other. Kendall’s ADHD and her past with her parents helping her identify with Finley, and Mason’s own struggles with his relationship with his own parents even though they are good grandparents to his daughter. The characters felt so real and easy to relate to. I cannot wait to start Yesterday’s News!

🍎 Love Lessons by Katie Cawood 🍎

💜 Single dad x Teacher
🍎 Forbidden Romance
💜 Tension filled friendships
🍎 Fall festival vibes
💜 Bouncy castle 🫣

I really liked Lesson Learned, the first book in this series, but Love Lessons was a whole new level of love, communication, spice, and banter. Also, #sorrynotsorry, Mason >>> Owen times a million.

I love that Kendall is both a teacher and someone who embraces her sexuality. It’s often believed that both don’t or can’t exist — all teachers have a certain perception, and I love how Kendall isn’t that meek and mild mannered educator alone. She’s brave, she’s daring, and she’s a risk taker. As an FMC, she’s wonderful.

Mason. SWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON. I’ve also enjoyed stories with a single dad — but this — this book — UGH. Again, whole new level. Seeing Mason parent fills me with such joy and love. His commentary on parenting? Even better. And Finley? Low key the main hero in this story

For a story that featured complicated family dynamics, love in the digital age, dating apps and their power, and the beauty of childhood, this is an insanely in-depth story. There’s quite a bit of content that’s deep and thought provoking, balanced out with small, tender moments.

Spice: 🌶️
Recommend: Yes!!
Pairs well with a fry-cutterie board and maybe a pumpkin spice latte to go.

💕 Special thank you to Katie for including me on your ARC team for this book!! I loved it!! 💕

This book is absolutely endearing and emotional, and will pull at your heartstrings from beginning to end. This story has so much heart... from the love Kendall has for her students, to the love Mason has for his daughter, and the love they have for each other. It also doesn't hurt that Mason is totally book boyfriend material. I can't help but mention that as a teacher, I loved the 100% relatable moments and scenes.

Fed up with relationships, Kendall Devin has decided to look for a hook up on Tinder. The last thing she expected was that the man she swipped right on would walk into her classroom on Meet the Teacher Night with his daughter. The last thing on Mason's mind is becoming romantically involved with anyone, specially not his daughter's teacher. The constant interaction in each other's lives will make it impossible for them to ignore their undeniable connection and resist temptation. Could Kendall be the one to fill the void in their lives?

This is standalone book two in Katie Cawood's Woodvale series and I look forward to more from her.

3.5 stars!

There were a lot of parts to this story I really enjoyed. I loved the overall plot and seeing Mason and Kendall get together. Revisiting Sarah and Owen’s story was also very fun and added so much to the book and I was happy we saw so much of them. For Kendall being as endearingly awkward as she is, Sarah is the best gift of a friend.

There were a few details that weren’t my jam entirely. I considered not finishing the story at least three times due to plot points I wasn’t in favor of. However, I love Katie’s first book so much that I wanted to finish this one to see how it ended. I didn’t love how quickly we went from “oh no this is where everything goes downhill” to “oh yeah everything is fine”. The story teased how badly this relationship could end and cost Kendall so much only to solve the problem in about 20 pages. I would have liked to see more build up to that.

Finley…this is the kind of kid everyone wants. She’s so freaking adorable. Mason just wants her to have the world. It’s the best. 😍

looooove

This covers so much good stuff. It starts with high tension and s-e-x-iness which of course is brought crashing down at the realization that what was supposed to be their date on Friday cannot come to pass because he’s her child’s kindergarten teacher and dating a parent is a fireable offense. What follows next definitely still has that same steamy chemistry but there’s actually so much heart. This covers parental issues and not just with Finley’s (MMC’s daughter) mom but it shows a wide range of what adults can and still go through with their own parents across the spectrum. It also takes the potential responsibility of becoming a step parent very seriously. All this happens while still having a lot of fun with the writing. This small town is so real, small town trope isn’t a fav of mine and this doesn’t knock anything over your head, it feels like a place I’ve been. The spice is great and not overdone. This had me shedding more tears than expected by the end.

FYI I do plan on reading book one but I read this as a standalone and could totally follow it!

how i read- 📖

i really love katie’s writing, it is so fun and easy to read. i read love lessons when it came out last year and absolutely fell in love with owen and sarah. i loved the whole teacher romance trope because it was totally new to me so i was super excited to read love lessons!

i was really hoping kendall would get her happy ending, and she did! i really liked her character and i felt like she was super relatable. i also really liked mason but once he was compared to tamlin i just couldn’t get that image out of my head 😂😂. he was seriously such an amazing dad to finley. finley was so cute i loved her character and her little sas.

i like how we still got plenty of moments with owen and sarah to see how they are doing. and their wedding scene was so cute. i also felt like this book was perfectly paced, nothing felt too rushed.

totally recommend if you are looking for a single dad romance!!

An amazing book from a new author . Kendall is a kindergartener teacher and she is sexting with a handsome man for the past week . It turns that man is f father of one of her new students Finley . Mason is back to his hometown raising his daughter with the help of his parents but meeting Kendall in person makes me want him want her even more . He volenteer at the class so they spent a lot of hours together . They both try to ignore their feelings at first but their decide to date in secret so she won't lose her job because it is not allowed to date a parent .
I loved how Mason loved Finley and put her first in his life . Finley is so cute and she deserved a mom's love like Kendall's . I hope we will read more about our couple in her next books in the series .
I received this book from the author and the publisher as an ARC . Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own .
