I was super excited to see this third book in the Bennett Security romantic suspense series! Computer expert Sylvie Trousseau has had to restart her life after a complicated and hurtful break with her family. She now works for Bennett Security. When she’s assigned to perform a security system installation at the house of mobster Dominic Crane, the chemistry is instantaneous, even though Sylvie doesn’t want to be drawn in. Dominic was forced to take over the Silverlake Syndicate by his family and now is under house arrest, torn whether he should turn on the mob and go into witness protection, or stay silent and remain loyal to family. I found the chemistry between these two to be intense and the romance to be surprisingly sweet for a bad boy romance where someone is in organized crime. Both Sylvie and Dominic have difficult pasts to overcome that they connect over. There was a section in the middle of the book where they exchanged slightly adorkable text messages that melted my heart. And as with the previous books, the steamy scenes are HOT!

I received a complimentary copy of Hard Wired as one of its beta readers. This is my honest and voluntary review.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the third book in the Bennett Security series. I have read and reviewed the first two books in this series before picking this book up. I think you really need to read the first two books in this series before picking this book up because there is so much for the other books that are tangled into this book's storyline. I have wanted to know more about Sylvie since her character showed up in the first book, and her character is still my favorite character. This book was not my favorite of the series. I felt the storyline was jumpy and did not flow as well as the other ones. There was a lot of suspense and stuff going on. The romance was really weird, and it left me wanting more. I did enjoy the ending and seeing the changes in the characters. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Diana Road Books) or author (Hannah Shield) via Booksirens, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

The series just keeps getting better. Sylvie has been part of the Bennett group since the first book, and I love a good strong female lead. You can not get any better than a “white hat” hacker in this coder’s heart. Her love of bad boys is a bonus.

Dominic Crane is a complicated character and has angered the wrong people. It is Sylvie who is charged with installing his security system. Although sparks fly and Sylvie is holding back, she can not fall for Nic. As with the previous books, plenty of plot twists to keep the reader on their toes. The suspense is excellent, the chemistry is hot, and plenty of emotions. Every book in the series leaves me wanting more.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

A slog to get through…

Honestly maybe my New Year’s resolution should be not to continue bad books. Because WOW this was hard to get through, but I just kept trying.

📚𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲: Enemies-to-lovers, opposites attract

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Sylvie is a hacker, sent to mafia boss Dominic Crane”s house to install a security system. But when she meets him, she finds the rumors of him being irresistible are instantly true.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: Honestly this is my own fault. I saw this in a top 10 list and as the saying goes, curiosity killed the cat.

The book was honestly just ok. It just really felt like it wasn’t enough, all the way around. Sylvie’s character had potential, as did Dominic’s, but they weren’t fleshed out enough to be compelling. The tension felt dry. The pacing of the story, especially the end, made it read truly slow for me.

I honestly should have DNFed it at like 25%, but I was too stubborn.

𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 2.5/5 ⭐⭐

𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 2.5/5 🌶🌶

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱: Anything by Susan Stoker is a better pickup than this. Also recommend Alex Lindell’s Trident Security series.

This is the third book in this Bennett Security series. You will want to read the first two to get the full background on the story and characters. The story flows well, the characters are likeable and fit well together. A enjoyable read.

I enjoyed this so much. I loved that for once it was someone with criminal ties wanting an out and joining forces with the "good guys" since usually I've read about the opposite. Dominic was so unexpectedly wholesome and I loved Sylvie too.

*Received ARC for honest review

Did I mention how grateful I am that I came across this series? I mean, Hannah Shield is just kicking butt here! Each novel in this series has its own element but they all bring to the table such a story that you can’t help but to devour. Hard Wired is Sylvie and Dominic’s story and it’s wonderful. Tech savvy/hacker Sylvie seems to be anything but vulnerable. Dominic Crane is your mobster who has been characterized as dangerous and ruthless. It might seem weird how these two come across and how their story comes together but I am here to tell you that it works. We’ve known Dominic Crane from the very beginning and we are led to believe from each novel that he may be more than what is seen. Sylvie seems like a tough cookie and nothing can beat her down but here, we get to see all the good and ugly. Their chemistry is off the charts and Domenic is everything Sylvie needs and vice versa. The plot keeps you on your toes and keeps you thinking. I love that all of the typical things that could have happened didn’t. It’s not a new trope but it is refreshing in the craft of storytelling. The characters were great and showed a vulnerability to each other that showed exactly how much they cared for each other. Domenic Crane is this giant teddy bear. He is incredibly gentle and caring and ugh, that’s all you need. I wasn’t sure why I questioned how this story will turn out as there is already proof from the first two novels that Hannah Shield can do anything to give these characters a delightful, swoon-worthy, and tasteful story. If you have not read anything from Hannah Shield, make it today that you do. You will not regret it.

A story in the series Bennett Security that you can read as a stand-alone with references to previous parts that are not disturbing but fun if you have read the first parts.

And if you read previous parts of Bennet Security, I'm sure you would like to read Sophie's story. The badass woman with brains to be jealous of, with her strong sense of loyalty. And that she has to help Dominique Crane with the security of his house is something she did not expect and actually does not want. Dominique who is already in the picture from part 1 but not in a good way. His "family" business, the Silverlake Syndicate, caused tension and mayhem for Max Bennet and his security firm.

The start of the story was disappointing. Sophie is convinced he will cause trouble. I had expected her to be a bit more open with regard to estimating people. Especially if you immediately read that her childhood was not easy due to the judgmental attitude of her family towards her and her cousin who is gay.

Fortunately, my opinion, while reading, quickly changed. I read a book in which the uncertainties of both MC were exposed. Where 2 people were looking for who they are in society. In which a mutual respect arises where the lust was already clear. Where Dominique mainly acts to protect others even though his past showed otherwise.

I read a great story.
Highly recommended!.

Gotta love a bad boy with a heart of gold!

We got a few hints in the earlier books that Dominic wasn't as hardened a criminal as he appeared. Still, I was quite surprised to find that the author intended him for a romance of his own. I was even more delighted to find that Dominic is more cinnamon roll than alpha mafioso.

His banter with Sylvie was perfectly on-point throughout. Theirs is certainly an intellectual relationship, yet there's plenty of physical chemistry to keep things steamy. I loved that they both had their heroic moments and I was charmed by the way they danced around the very sensitive topic of how, when, or even if to trust each other.

This book quite literally kept me glued to my screen with non-stop action and suspense, betrayals and conspiracies, even an ambush and a very tense showdown toward the end. It's extremely well-written with plenty of plot twists and turns and I loved every bit of it.

I thought the ending was a bit drawn out, but I could see why the author chose to go that route. Eventually, they do get a solid HEA and we're treated to a bit of an introduction along the way to the main characters in the next book in this exciting series. I wholeheartedly recommend all of the books in this thrilling series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

A criminal with a heart & morals. That's what Nic is but circumstances have him in a tight spot. Hiding behind the computer is what Sylvia does best. Their quirkly slow burn chemistry is sweet. Lots of plot twist! Love that all the main characters make regular appearances. Its emotional, suspenseful & heartwarming. An another book in an enjoyable series to follow for sure!.

This was an okay read I guess. Was promoted as Enemies-to-Lovers, however I didn't really see that much in this book. There were just a lot of prejudiced coming from the Sylvie because of what Dominic used to be. She had all of this negative assumptions about him, which didn't sit well with me.

She was also said to be this badass heroine and head strong woman, yet the first time they met in person she got tounge-tied and stood in front of him like a dumbstruck teenager. Dominic was described as the typical hero, handsome, hot, fit, and walking sex on a stick, but I didn't know that the badass heroine would be affected by him that much. He used this opportunity to flirt with her and proved just how much easily he could get women's attention. Sylvie got irritated with herself because his presence made her off balance. I had to roll my eyes at this scene because I was expecting some confident woman who could get toe to toe with the infamous Dominic Crane, but no, she had to be one of those typical women who easily fell for his attractiveness.

As for Dominic, he doesn't feel any annoyance with her at first, I think he labeled her as cute in his mind. But since Sylvie was already annoyed by her own reaction to him, she called him "degenerate murderer" which pissed off Dominic more than he expected. So he insulted her just to get back, but this hostility never lasted for so long. I couldn't even label the annoyance they felt for one another as toeing enemy line. Because at some point Dominic sort of accepted that insult and started to believe that judgment and Sylvie realized she was hard on him.

On her another visit to his house, they both flirted and all of a sudden the animosity was no longer in the air. Though I guess they were just both horny, him for being in house arrest for months and her being attracted to him and expecting he could give her first orgasm. I don't know, kind of lost my interest at this part.

The action was meh in my opinion. It was very much obvious Dominic doesn't belong in the family business, he was too soft to lead those kind of people he never even killed a person. So him being continually threatened to follow some order and not having any option kind of ruined the story for me. He was always backed into a corner and there was nothing he could do to improve his situation or helped his younger brother. It also irked me how their plan to get to the safe house panned out, it was like everything was just thrown in those scenes. It was exasperating reading how all of the decisions made by the MCs that time seems like they were just winging everything. Maybe it was just a me case but I hoped for better execution or some great plan.

Anyway, when it was confirmed that threats were no longer hanging around Dominic he contacted her and they both decide to take things slow. I'm really liking the celibacy they endured for 6 months. Overall this was an okay read, felt a bit flat but I did still appreciate it.

When you least expect it

Sylvie and Dominic. I knew Sylvie’s story would be good because of how feisty and strong of a character she was in the first two books. Dominic has been in the other books, but now his story takes a big ol turn that has us witnessing a fun romantic suspense story. The family dynamics for both characters is fraught with problems and betrayal, but we see moments of love and redemption in both the mob side and the religious sides of their relatives. We also see the family of their choosing through work friends and colleagues. The ending was not too surprising, but the action scene was unexpected and well done. A good read and I look forward to more stories with these colorful characters!

Not as good as the first two.

Everyone likes different things, with that being said, I hate to give negative reviews but this one just didn’t do it for me. It had some content in it I try to avoid in the books I choose to read. Maybe that was why I didn’t care for this installment. I’m not sure. But by the end I was struggling just to finish. However, if you’ve read the first two books I would still recommend to read this one and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. But if the author continues with things I try to avoid I will will avoid her writing.

I enjoyed this romance story with all of the characters. The main characters were Sylvie and Dominic.

Sylvie likes the bad boy type but can she trust them. When her job with Bennett Security puts her in the path of bad boy Dominic she not sure what to do with him.

Dominic is on house arrest. He has asked Bennett Security to come out and install there security. Because the group that his father was with might want him dead.

This was a fun story to read. It had action, adventure, suspense and a little drama throughout. It also had a few laughs throughout.

THE ACTION IS BACK!
Absolutely loved the action, the mystery, the plot twists, just amazing. Couldn't stop reading.

I also loved how Sylvie was more realistic in body type/features and how even tho Nic was a former mafia leader, he was realistic with his emotions and dilemmas. Although, he gave more high school student vibes than scary mafia boss vibes 😂.

I, however, didn't love the romance, it felt more like lust than love until the end. And the ending PISSED ME OFF but at least it's a HEA.

Still confused about Sylvie and her family and the whole "I don't know who I am" but it is what it is.

This is the third book of the Bennett Security series. I was hoping for more of the guys at Bennett but was surprised the book revolved around Sylvie who is the resident tech/hacker.

She is tasked with putting in a new security system at Dominic Crane's home and she is not a happy camper. Dominic is part of a criminal enterprise and is currently under house arrest.

As the story goes on, it is evident that there are sparks between Sylvie and Dominic. This book has lots of action, suspense and twists.

I love this series. I'm three in right now and plan on finishing the series. The dynamics between the main characters are always perfect. The story doesn't always take you where you thought it would. It takes you to a much more interesting place. I was so happy for Sophie and Nic in this book. They both owned their troubled pasts and did something about it. When they dealt with their pasts, they were able to move forward with their future.

Very entertaining

This book has varied characters with depth. Their lives are not average. There is suspense, action, and romance, though I'm not a fan of the spice. I can easily skip those scenes. Lots of this is not very realistic, but that is what makes it an enjoyable read for me.

love the male character

Nice story with an exciting plot and really liked the characters especially the man. Whole series was good. Bit of an abrupt end, but there is another option to subscribe to author for the last chapter. Next book usually fills on the gap of what’s missing in the story.

Sylvie and Dominic

Dominic is on home arrest for something he really didn't do, and the assistant D.A. wanted him to turn on his family. When Dominic met Sylvie one day while installing the security system. Soon after, things started acting up, and sylvie had to figure out if this was a trick Dominic was doing or if he was in more trouble than she thought.

The Challenge!

Hard Wired is excellent! Wish I could give it fifty stars. It has a very bad “boy” (the hero, Dominic) and a bad*ss hacker, Sylvie. Their romance has hot hot heat, twists, turns, surprises and heart clenching moments! It is a “can not put it down” book!
