Our bonding night was meant to be special, but that’s been ripped away from me. I was once willing to play the Conclave’s game. Not anymore. It’s time for change. Our society cannot continue on this path with leaders so corrupt they think they’re above all laws. I think it’s time I ignite, like the phoenix Vertus calls me, and show those who seek to control me just how far I’ve come. Dom may think he’s got his favourite pet back, but I’m not the weak-willed girl he knew. It’s time I embrace who I am. Ignite the depths of power within my soul and ensure my Sept and I can live in peace. My name is Ember. I am an Anchor. And I will not allow myself to be caged again.
⭐️⭐️⭐️½ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ “Ember is mine. She always has been, and she always will be. The Earth will wither and die like the plant infected by a blight at my feet before I allow you to treat her like a broodmare.”
This final book in the Anchor for the Changed trilogy brought us the HEA of Ember and her Sept. While I enjoyed seeing the conclusion to their story, I felt the story was bogged down by an extra-large harem of mates and background political machinations. Book Two ended at a significant cliffhanger, and this book immediately stepped off without preamble.
Unfortunately, with such a huge cast of MCs, I found it hard to get back into the story. If you’re able to binge-read the series, I do not believe you would have this issue, but I was forced to refer to the Character Recap multiple times to keep the characters straight. (Huge mark in the plus column for the included Recap and Character Recaps at the beginning of the book to help readers reorient themselves in the story)
While there is an increase in spice throughout the trilogy, this book remains a slower-burn, lower-spice romance with several MF and MFM+ scenes.
Genre: Urban Fantasy Romance Tropes/Features: Dark elements, magic, fate mates, magical binding, hurt/comfort, twins, building harem, large harem, trauma survival, found family, government corruption Narrator: Multiple 1st Person POV Relationship Type: Why Choose – MFMMMMM, slower burn, lower spice Book Type/Ending: Conclusion of the Anchor for the Changed trilogy, HEA TW/CW: Available in book
"Ignite Ember Astound" is the final book in the "Anchor for the Changed" series. It wraps up Ember's story and that of her men, while keeping some possible storylines with side characters open for the future. I have to say this finale really kept my attention till the end and made it hard to put the book down whenever life intervened. It was nice to finally watch some people meet the end of their corruption and greed.
The "Anchor for the Changed" series is one of those series I wish I could read for the first time again. The way the first book grabbed me from the start and had me at the edge of my seat is a feeling I can't get back, and I truly wish I could. So yes, this is a series I absolutely recommend reading, because it's original and plot-driven, with an interesting slow build harem. It might not be the series for those looking for something very spicy though. Even though there is spice in this series, the main focus stays on the plot and some people might end up disappointed since there's a big harem involved. Nevertheless, it's exactly what I'm usually looking for in reverse harem: lots of plot development, interesting characters, slow burn and slow build and plenty of action and suspense.
A wonderful, if short(ish) conclusion to the series
I completely forgot that I had read the first two books in this series quite a while before this third book came out, and had been so sad that I’d have to wait to read its conclusion. I reread both books today before starting this one, and am glad I did; they were just as gripping as the first go-round.
My only complaint is that this book is shorter than the first two, if I remember correctly, and that’s unfortunate because I feel as though the story could have been fleshed out further, particularly towards the end. That doesn’t mean, however, that the book wasn’t wrapped up nicely, just that I enjoyed it so much that I would have loved even more content.
The author wrote that they have plans to eventually continue this ‘changed-verse’, which I’m definitely looking forward to. It’s a brilliant concept that deserves to be expanded on. If I could offer an opinion, it would be to write standalones, not necessarily do multi-book series like this one. I know that for me, personally, I almost always wait to read anything until its entire series has been released. Series with Skylar’s bond group, or Myra’s, etc, would be amazing, but releasing them in 3-400 page standalone books would be even better! Either way, I adored this series, and look forward to seeing it be expanded.
some loose threads in need of being woven back into the story
Some of the central conflicts from the last two and first half of this book are chucked aside and left unresolved. This book felt a bit rushed, but still a very enjoyable read.
This was a quick and easy read, I loved the character's, there was a few plot twist, it was nice to have a FMC who did not want to have children and just lived happily ever after with her men and took up a political seat and caused chang in her society. Enjoyable, nice read 😁

Like The Therian Omega which I DNF by Aisling Cousins.. the main idea is so good.. but the execution just... lacks. There are some major aspects of this series that really ruined it for me. I was able to ignore these issues and finish but as much as I would love for this to be something I reread in the future - I don't think I'll have the patience.
Characters -
The mmcs were mostly pretty likeable and unique. The biggest flaw was Aaron and Zane. They are twins but they felt like the same person. The only difference was that Aaron liked to cook for Ember. Zane's personality was very surface level. The other's each had their own quirks that made them unique.
Skylar- Ember's brother was so self-absorbed.. I hated him and was so happy when one of Ember's mates ended up calling him out on his bull in the third book.
Ember was a more sweet and innocent fmc. She had strength, power, and was more than capable of taking care of herself but she wasn't overly cocky and was still willing to let the men dote on her. I do think there should have been a little more trauma and healing involved in her growth but that brings me to the other issues I had...
There were a few things that almost made me DNF.
First, the fact that this girl was born and raised in captivity for 24 YEARS. But a few DAYS after being in a horrible car accident is expected to attend an academy? Like... absolutely no time to deal with anything that happened to her..? And everyone just expects her to be completely normal? The freaking leaders of their kind re-traumatizes her in a room full of people including her biological father and they call her worthless because she can't have children and like.. no one bats an eye really?
Which brings me to my second biggest issue. The antagonists in the story all act like a bunch of high schoolers and it just kind of takes away from immersing the reader into the story because it is just so far from believable. These people are supposed to be the leaders of the Changed but there is no way they would get away with so much for so long. The insults and actions were so juvenile. And just to be clear... it only gets WORSE throughout the series.
Why the f*ck is one of her mates calling her "pet" when the man that tortured her for 14 years called her that? It isn't even really spoken about between Ember and Helios? Like.. huh? Sounds like a trigger to me and she is just... fine with it? I don't even know. Was so freaking weird. Just another example of this story being about a traumatized fmc but... not giving any thought into the fact that she is traumatized?
The pheromone control was never really explained well.. It was just such a weird aspect to the story since it was so important but not really fully explained.
Her have six or seven mates was another part that was kind of not explained well. It went back and forth and different people seemed to think she would have a different amount and it felt like it was going to be something that was kind of like an "what?!" moment for those in the story but... wasn't?
Why the heck was the representatives magic so weak? Dixon appeared to not have any magic at all? This is something that comes up a few times but is never explained.
Overall, the ending was a little unsatisfying. There were some things that were pretty open ended - which makes sense because it sounds like there will be more stories for the world but it made this story feel a bit rushed and unfinished in a way. Also like... everyone that hurt Ember died way too easily. Like literally snap of the fingers and they died. After all that? 50% of the last book was Ember being in captivity again but just like that those that put her there died like nothing..

I loved this book. I especially loved how the female main character was able to bust out herself even when it was so dire. It’s like a switch flicked, and all of a sudden she had the confidence to just let loose with her emotions, making the decision to be the lil Phoenix she’s nicknamed for. She still had that bad habit of keeping things to herself and not speaking up, but she saw a way out and took it. I’m so glad she did, they were gonna do horrible things to her. I loved reading the point of views of her guys, it threw me with Skylar’s point of view. He really started to bug me through out the series, his whinniness was starting to grate on me. Along with keeping secrets from them all, demanded things when he had no leg to stand on. His twin forgave him of course, she’s a bit of a push over so it was done without thought. She’s been through a lot, yet didn’t let her brother know what really happened. So I can understand water under the bridge and all but he never once asked her to tell him. Skylar was a bit of a coward in that way. So fragile that he never once tried to understand the abuse she actually suffered was millions of times worse than when they were together with Evo Gen. I’m glad he found his bond, but I think his character changed from when he was first introduced. Same with her dads. They weren’t a huge part of the series, just a few mentions here and there. If I could have, I would have rated it 4.5 stars. Mostly due to these inconsistencies with Skylar being thrown in from left feild when it didn’t benefit the scene. I wish there was more fan fare to the climax of the book. It lead up to this huge event but they didn’t even explain the reason why the meeting was changed to be in the crystal caves. I would have loved to see a closer look into the illicit activity the conclave members were participating in, instead of the acts just being told in front of the paparazzi that were there for the trial. I loved how she gained a crystal fox guardian after completing their bond in the crystal caves, I just wish her sidekick would have been introduced much earlier in the series, or even just the hopeful promise she would gain one. They all barely knew what an anchor really can do, and leaned heavily on Royce for information. I loved each male harem member, they were all so different from each other. I loved how they all represented a dif branch for the Changed and how they all supported the female lead character whenever she needed it. There was so much build up for the ending of this book and I feel like it didn’t do it true justice. Yes they had a conclusion and a happy ending but I don’t feel like it balanced properly. A lot of horrible stuff happened to the female lead character, this book included, but not a lot of positives counteracted the negatives. I’m glad she got her happy ending but I think if she had more of a role taking charge in the climax I would have had no problem rating it 5 stars.
My notes as I read this series: So many characters and loopholes but I’m ignoring the latter. In Book 1, Ember felt like a child then the “fuck the pain away” happened and it didn’t mesh. Luckily we were told she’s 24 so I shrugged it off and moved on
Rui & Cloud Sketch & Helios The telepathy came out of nowhere, wasn’t consistent in use The author gives us POVs of secondary characters but then hides bits of their stories; case in point, Skylar’s relationship with Sketch was abruptly introduced then became hidden. Then Dom escaped, cue the eye-roll, and of course he kidnapped her. Annoyingly, given how forthcoming Ember was with everything (which I liked coz it saved us from miscommunication drama) this trait wasn’t well portrayed when she matched with the Greene twins and she also didn’t tell Helios (or since he’s such an awesome healer, he would have realized when he healed her olfactory nerve that she could be controlled through that and thus rectified it) so that he could sort it. Why is Tavon called Greene-Ward? How are surnames chosen? With how obsessed Helios is, I would have expected him to chip Ember. He’s not crazy enough Zane is a naughty boy, gracious, it’s always the quiet ones. Sketch’s speech about dented armour, not shining armour 🤭and Skylar’s reaction 😍 The president of an MC is scared of spiders 😂🤣
This wasn’t a bad end to the series but I still felt it took too long but also went too quickly. I really didn’t feel like I got much out of the side characters that were shown at the school. We barely got any institute information and I really felt like a lot of situations were glossed over unnecessarily. I felt a lot of these situations that were glossed over, like the trial for example, left a lot to be desired. I also dislike that the conclave didn’t get their comeuppance. The way they went out bugged me, and their experiments and such still weren’t explained clearly enough. What was the purpose aside from info gathering on Changed for the constant experimentation she had. Were there others? Are there any like her who are also female anchors? Hopefully more info will come with more books in this world.
Such a great conclusion to Ember's story! This book picks up right where book 2 left off. I love that the author gives us a bit of a recap at the beginning. It was so helpful. There was no shortage of action and a bit of adventure in this story. We also get drama, spice and most importantly answers. The guys are on a mission trying to find and rescue Ember. However, that may not be necessary. Maybe, Ember can rescue herself. Ember has grown so much throughout the series. In strength and courage, but still continued to be a light to others. I loved each of the guys and I'm so glad we get to finally see them all bond. I think the author did a great job of wrapping Ember's story up and giving us a happy ending. I look forward to more stories from this world.
Wow! This series is amazing! I was completely captivated by the characters, plot and world building. Ember was an amazingly strong female character. Despite all the hardships she endured early on in her life, and what transpired after she was taken by Dom again she kept fighting and wouldn't let her life be dictated by others. And then there is the Sept. All six of the men that are called to Ember bring something completely different to the bond magically and personally. It is so hard to choose a favorite because they all have their moments and always put her first (Although I tend to lean more towards Atticus and Zane). If you have not read this series yet I highly recommend that you do.
This final book in the Anchor for the Changed trilogy. Book two ended at a big cliffhanger, and this book immediately picked up where it left off. I enjoyed the conclusion to their story, the HEA of Ember and her Sept.
There is a large cast of MCs, so I would recommend reading the first 2 books in the series either first, or again, before you read this one. There is a Character Recap at the beginning of this book if you need it. The book is a slower-burn, lower-spice romance with several MF and MFM+ scenes. I really enjoyed this book and the series as a whole, and can’t wait to see if anything else is expanded upon.
I like the story a lot but these books are barely romance novels. She doesn't even start sleeping with them until book 3 and there's literally 2 "dates" between her and 2 of the guys and one is just her getting a tattoo... It doesn't really seem like a date at all. There's just not anything romantic expect them like existing around her, liking her whatever. There isn't even a lot of touching, hugging, kissing, lips or cheeks, just anything showing their together or being affectionate at all. The guys are cute and a little obsessive but they're relationships go from strangers to married pretty quickly without much interactions or intimacy.
I’ve very much enjoyed this series, and this book is no different. I love the worldbuilding that’s gone into this and how different, yet similar, to the world we live in. Watching Ember grow from book one through to this last book has been amazing. Watching her relationships, including romantic, familial, and friendships, grow alongside her has been an added bonus. I was surprised by the turn the story took, but it made sense. It’s clear that the author isn’t done telling stories in this world, and I look forward to reading more when she does!
I enjoyed this conclusion to the anchor for the changed series. After the cliff-hanger ending, Ember finds herself back in the clutches of Dom, and while the guys all look for her, she knows she needs to somehow get herself out. Her power grows as the different bonds snap into place, so many things go wrong along the way, but in the end they all get their HEA. I love how the tension builds between all of her Sept, but then they manage to find their way to overcome it. This was a great conclusion, with lots of things clicking into place. A great read.
Ignite Ember Astound by Aisling Cousins is the third, finale book in the Anchor For The Changed Series. This picks up right where book two left off. Ember and her guys bonding ceremony has been ruined and Ember is kidnapped. I loved all the guys POV's while Ember was kidnapped. So much is happening in this book! So much political, magical drama. But Ember and her guys are all in and working together. Loved it. Looking forward to Skylar's book!
Fantastic conclusion for Ember and her guys! I really liked this series and will most likely reread it so I can indulge in their story without anything in between. The plot was interesting and easy to get into, I liked the concepts of magic and anchors in this world. The characters were all amazing including Ember. I thought it was fantastic how much she grew and how her strength both magical and personal grew throughout the series. And the guys were a big plus, I loved them all!
This is the final book in the "Anchor for the Changed" series and picks up where book 2 left off. Ember was an amazingly strong female character. All six of the men that are called to Ember bring something completely different to the bond magically and personally, so it was really neat to see how they all came together in the end, and how each one contributes to the group. It was a fantastic series and I'm sorry to see it end.
This was a good end to the trilogy. I went into the book with my heart in my throat and my guts in knots from the events of the second book and they stayed that way for a good long while. I really enjoyed reading this book, in fact I enjoyed reading the whole trilogy. If you’re looking for an immersive trilogy with fascinating characters and worldbuilding that’s light on spice than this is the perfect read for you. I’ll be interested to read any further works set in this world.
I am so sad the journey is over but there is always a reread right? I loved every second reading it and am honored to be part of Ember her story. The harem however is quite large and sometimes that is a bit difficult but it is pretty well done but made it a bit difficult to get into the story. Once I started though it was over before I knew it. This is a slower burn book though so don't expect spice overload but for me it was amazing still.
I fell in love with this world and characters right away. The magic system and world building sucked me in at book 1. I did enjoy this book and am looking forward to more from this world.
This book did tie up nicely, but near the end, I did feel rushed in places and maybe not as fleshed out.
I do recommend reading this series for the characters, the world-building, and the overall plot.
I am looking forward to more books from this author.
What a lovely way of ending the series and not dragging it along. I enjoyed the RH aspect as it didn't end up focusing on only certain MMCs not many authors can manage that. Our heroine really made this series shine, no temper tantrums and questionable behaviour just because of a horrible upbringing. Some authors would have used that as an excuse for a horrible character.
Ember grew so much in this series, and I was ecstatic when she took matters into her own hands and made things happen. Each member of her Sept brings unique qualities and makes their family special. My favorite is Helios, the walking red flag he is. ;) I am so excited to get Skylar's story in the future!
This book was a great conclusion to Ember’s story and tied up loose plot lines from this story. I enjoyed the story and I was sad to see it come to an end but I’m happy with the ending that was given. It was nice to see the characters all come together and work together throughout the book. Overall, a really good book and conclusion to the series.
I wish it was longer because this was the last book in the series I’ll miss these characters. Wow lots happened and I’m happy everything worked out some things were open so technically there could be another book but also, this could be the last, and so far it’s the last.
This book was good. I wish there hadn’t been so much captivity. Also everything from going to the judgment caves and beyond was bananas foster. I’m not sure it answered all my questions or really made sense compared to 2.5 of the books but it was a good series and I enjoyed all the characters.
I loved this story, but feel like the ending was rushed. I half expected Ember to be pregnant, what with the fertility drugs she had been injected with. I feel like other than the rushed portion, it was well written and easy to devour. I loved Ember and her group. Helios was my favorite. I love a morally gray man!
This is the conclusion to Embers and her men's story. It wraps up the series, storyline and loose ending very well. All the whole giving the magic that was also in the previous books. Drama, spice and adventure are at the core of their story and there is no shortage of any of it. It was an engrossing read and was a great ending to the series.
Ember and her Sept are remarkable each man brings exactly what she needs in her life even Helios lol, her dad's and brother are so supportive of her. I really loved this world and unique magic and characters. I also really want a book on Skylar and his bond mates!! Thank you Aisling for another remarkable series of books!
